@Danani we have an IKEA poang for a nursing chair (Not a rocker but you can get a little bounce going) it’s definitely not as comfy as the traditional rockers but I’m with you on the aesthetics 😅

the glucoses test isn’t that bad, just boring waiting around for the second blood test. definitely take a good book or podcast to listen to!

missv556 · 04/05/2022 17:27

@Danani I think we work ourselves up so much about how bad the glucose test is gonna be and it's really not as bad as you think it will be. The worst part for me was the 2 hour wait in between blood tests tbh. Agreed with taking a book or music or making sure your phone has enough battery to watch a couple episodes of something on Netflix otherwise you'll be bored to tears. I didnt find the drink bad at all, was just like thicker, sweeter version of squash but not unbearable by any means

Lianna93 · 04/05/2022 17:31

Just been sent home from work because I threw up 4 times in the space of an hour 😩
Keep having to tell myself 9 weeks & it'll all be over.
Anyone else still suffering? 😩

strawberrysummer19 · 04/05/2022 17:55

Hi @Danani my movements are still sporadic
One day very active and the next day little movements - I'm 28+1
My scan today (re scan for a private growth scan) showed her moving around and some
I wasn't feeling and my baby has gone from breech (25wk scan) to head down today so my midwife said this is why movement's may have changed
Obviously she can still move about at this stage but at the moment she is head down
I have a bag growth scan on Saturday and the glucose test in a few weeks
No risk factors just because my bump measurement is on 97th centile

Anyone else having terrible bladder issues?!
The scan showed today her head right on my bladder and also she said my bladder was quite full despite going to the toilet 10 mins before
My cystoscopy is now tomorrow as managed to get a cancellation appointment so hopefully that goes ok but already dreading it
Been having blood in my urine so DR has referred me to an urologist

X

NamelessBaby1 · 04/05/2022 18:07

Oh that sounds unpleasant @strawberrysummer19 , hope they get you all sorted out soon! I think my baby is still head up so other than having to pee slightly more than normal I haven't had any other issues so far. And poor you @Lianna93 , you're definitely having it rough! I've still managed to avoid vomiting so far this whole pregnancy so hoping it stays that way!

I'm the same re movements, 30 weeks on Friday and some days I'm feeling loads and the next not so much, but haven't been worried so far, just trying to keep paying attention!

Also agree with others re GD test , it's a bit unpleasant, but totally manageable, and I was allowed to go home in between as I live right next to my practice where I had the test
@Danani

Confusion101 · 04/05/2022 18:49

The glucose test is not bad at all!! I dunno why people build it up to be horrendous like it is really fine. My friend said "everyone said the glucose test is horrendous and it's not bad at all. Maybe Labour is also way easier than everyone says" 😅😅 fingers crossed!!

KizboBaggins · 04/05/2022 19:01

@strawberrysummer19 @Danani I've been having similar the past few days. I'm 28+2 and I can still feel him moving, but doesn't feel anywhere near the same amount as usual... I don't really know whether I should be worried or not.

As I can still feel him I'm guessing he's just changed position. But he just seemed really consistently busy every day for several weeks and now less so... I have a midwife appointment tomorrow but no more scans scheduled. So I guess I'll ask tomorrow and hopefully get some reassurance!

Hope3821 · 04/05/2022 20:12

@ShellUK09 ah I think you do have to buy eligible items to get the freebies, we're still working on a list before spending so haven't tried yet. Good luck with yours!

@Lianna93 hope it helps with the cramps! Sorry you're feeling so poorly too, hope you feel better soon.

I'm 28+5 and the last few weeks movement has definitely been crazy one day and very little the next. It feels definitely deep down and swooshy/fluttery at times, then another day legs kicking right out my side 😅

@strawberrysummer19 I'm not having clinical bladder problems, but boy do I need to pee a lot. Sometimes it feels like she literally grabs my bladder and it goes twing! And then I have to run to the bathroom just to let out a teaspoon full 😅 at least I know she's strong and healthy 😂

CatMumFTM22 · 04/05/2022 20:21

Hello all,

I'm late to joining this conversation, due end of July with my first at age 40. I've been enjoying catching up all on the chat.

I had a rough first trimester, second trimester was much easier and now third trimester is making me feel tired/unmotivated a lot of the time. I have my glucose test on Friday, not looking forward to it but would rather do it than risk having diabetes 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hopefully the test isn't as bad as some say it is.

NamelessBaby1 · 04/05/2022 20:29

Better late than never to join us @CatMumFTM22 ! Welcome to the party, hehe. Hope your test goes well too - it's really not all that bad, definitely had worse experiences lol.

CaptainCarp · 04/05/2022 20:42

@missv556 I had a growth scan today. They reiterated that I need to ring the diabetes team if I get a couple of high readings & I'm back in 3 weeks as baby has had a bit more of a growth spurt than expected from the previous scan 4 weeks ago so they just want to be careful.

Not convinced how accurate the measurements have been as baby has not been cooperative on any scan so far! 😂

missv556 · 05/05/2022 08:01

@CaptainCarp I have to have growth scans every 4 weeks from 28 weeks until birth. Thats been the plan since 20 weeks. Yesterday was the first one (bit later than planned at 29+3). My next is in 3 weeks too. They planned these scans cos they were worried little man would be small 🤣 my placenta was checked at 20 weeks and it was giving off a high level of something which made them concerned about growth hence the monthly scans but he's obviously not been affected cos he'll either be bang on track if it's an overestimate or he'll be a chunky bubba which would be funny considering I was 6 pounds something at birth and his dad was a premie so small too lol

Lianna93 · 05/05/2022 11:41

Just had my 31 week check - looks like I'm joining some of yous with the growth scans 🙈 Baby has jumped from 30cm to 35cm & also seems to be breech again 🙃
Though - I'm not gonna lie, I'm really excited to see her again 🙈😂

Danani · 05/05/2022 14:55

Thanks all for the reassurance on the Glucose Test! Will report back once it's out of the way (next Fri) but I do feel much calmer about it now!

I have a question on baby clothes, particularly vests/bodysuits (whatever you call them ones without legs) - I am planning to get some short sleeve and some long sleeve, but do I also need to get sleeveless (for a late Jul/early Aug UK-based baby)? Also in terms of numbers of each thing, what is reasonable? I was thinking 5-6 of category in size Newborn, and then double that in the next size up...I have washer, dryer, not bothered if I have to do laundry more often, but again - absolutely clueless. Don't want to overdo it and have a bunch of clothes that never get worn, but equally don't want to be underprepared and run out of clothes!

KizboBaggins · 05/05/2022 15:08

Also joining the growth scan train... I had my 28 week appointment this afternoon and my bump is measuring under by like 3cm.

So currently waiting in Starbucks for my scan appt (very impressed they managed to get me in on the same day tbh).

@Lianna93 same! I'm a smidge worried but more excited to see him again!

@Danani 5-6 in each category is more than double what I have for newborn clothes haha so you're already ahead of me! I'm trying to under-buy in case he's big. I figure DH can always shoot to Tesco if we're running low! I have a couple of sleeveless, short and long sleeve.

CaptainCarp · 05/05/2022 15:09

@missv556 ah originally my growth scans were only 32 & 36 weeks. I've now had 27(+2), 31(+2) & will be 34(+2)
Depending on what babies growth is doing it'll be 2 or 3 weeks so 36/37 weeks I think.

We actually managed to get a photo of the side profile face yesterday which was nice as the other scan photos baby just looks like a blob 😂

I didn't get told length & weight (it's probably in my notes) but on the growth chart it has slipped from just below the average line to just above but within the "normal" upper & lower limits.

Your boy is obviously defying the odds already just like "nah I'll grow how I want" ☺

Lianna93 · 05/05/2022 16:08

@KizboBaggins I'm trying not to worry myself - keep trying to reassure myself it's because my husband is a giant 🙈😂
But so worried she's gonna come earlier than expected & I'm in no way prepared 😬😂😂
I go in tomorrow lunch time, so should hopefully know a bit more tomorrow 🤞🏻

KizboBaggins · 05/05/2022 16:20

@Lianna93 good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes

My scan was fine. Based on the bump measurement he was judged to be less than 4lbs when born. At the scan however it appears he is 70th centile and looking at about 8lbs 7oz at birth currently lol so big difference!

Lovely to see him again but he is SO low down! The sonographer asked me if it felt like he was coming out because she hadn't seen a head that low at 28weeks before 😂 touch wood I feel comfortable enough, just need to wee a bit quicker than normal!

@CaptainCarp my boy still looked like a blob today lol cannot get a good view of him at all!

CaptainCarp · 05/05/2022 16:25

@CatMumFTM22 Welcome! The glucose test isn't that bad. The drink was like having neat squash but the numb butt from sitting on a chair for 2hrs was the worst 😂. Make sure you take a book / headphones for netflix though as the waits a bit boring.

@Lianna93 yeah just view it as a chance to get to see them more! It is interesting when you can see how much they change in a few weeks. Was the growth just measured by your fundal height?

@Danani I think I've got a couple of sleeveless 1s in 0-3 but only because i got given them. I think at that age / newborn short sleeves will be fine.
I've got somewhere between 5-10 of sleepsuits & long & short sleeve babygrows in newborn & up to 1 month. I think I have way to many short sleeve babygros in 0-3 😂 although some people i speak to say you can't have too many. I did get given quite a few so will probably pass them on / charity shop them after they are outgrown.
Unfortunately I'm going to have to clean out the washing machine between doing DPs work clothes & baby clothes so I don't want to be doing too many loads.

I had my 28 week appointment yesterday at 27+6 and my bump measured 28cm so I thought that was ideal, but when I got home and looked at my notes it puts baby on the 90th percentile on my chart. They didn’t say anything but I was expecting her to be small if anything as she was measuring slightly small at my 20 week scan. Naturally it made me worry but I’m just telling myself if they were concerned they would have said something!

Ive also been trying to work out how much of each size clothing I need..I’m clueless 😅

kiwi17 · 05/05/2022 21:02

Buying clothing is so tricky- last time we didn't buy much newborn thinking she would be born too big for it but honestly she didn't go into the 0-3m stuff until she was 3 months old and we had to go and buy newborn stuff after she was born! She was 7lb 8 and 2 weeks late so don't think you read much from it tbh. Also remember that in July you probably won't need long sleeved vests as they tend to wear short sleeve vest and a sleepsuit over for the first few weeks and if it's warmer might not even need the 2 layers - we didn't use the long sleeved vests til winter time.

Lianna93 · 05/05/2022 22:27

Thank you lovely @KizboBaggins

@CaptainCarp Yeah - just fundal height that's been measured. Will see what the sonographer says tomorrow. Hoping I get a nice picture to take home tomorrow 😂 20 week scan photos didn't turn out so well 😂

Attached my chart so yous can see the jump in measurements 😂

Due July 2022 (thread 4)
CaptainCarp · 05/05/2022 23:08

@Lianna93 oh wow the midwife hasn't actually donenmy fundal height yet I think because I'd only had a growth scan the week before & i forgot my growth chart 🤦‍♀️

In comparison my baby is just above that middle line on the chart!

OP posts:
Lianna93 · 05/05/2022 23:20

@CaptainCarp I genuinely didn't expect her to have grown so much - I'm convinced my bump is tiny as well despite people telling me I look huge 🙈😂

missv556 · 06/05/2022 06:59

@Coco9910 I'm measuring in the 97th percentile!! I measured the same at 20 weeks so I really do think I'm on track for a chunky monkey 😅
Has anyone been/going to the baby show? Is it worth buying the advance ticket or should I just pay on the day? £16 pp vs about £20. I've just seen if you pay £30 you get an item from a selection of Tommee tippee products but not sure if the product is free or maybe just a reduced price.
