@NamelessBaby1 i also splurged on the travel system. But I don't regret it because I'm only pregnant with my 1st and hoping it'll do for however many more we have and then I'll sell it on.

ChinChilly · 02/05/2022 17:31

We also splurged abit on a travel system for the same reason as @Confusion101 this is baby number one so hopefully we are lucky enough to have another so can use it again.

I'm starting to feel abit panicky too, 30 weeks at the end of this week and still got so much to get I feel like the weeks are just flying! Haven't even sorted the nursery! We've literally got the travel system, way to many cute clothes and a baby swing/bouncer thing and thats it..I really need to get a move on!

I don't feel that worried about birth yet, there's so much of it you can't control so I'm kind of happy to go with the flow.. although ask me that again nearer the time 😂

Confusion101 · 02/05/2022 18:04

@ChinChilly I'm the same, have very little got but I'm not doing a nursery. I'm surprisingly calm considering I have so little got but I know we'll get by!!

strawberrysummer19 · 02/05/2022 18:11

I've noticed I have a blue ring shape almost, around my belly button - it's been there a while I think and just wondered if it's a pregnancy thing?

Anyone else? X

ChinChilly · 02/05/2022 18:21

@Confusion101 I did wonder about not doing a nursery myself because OH's family all live abroad so we do sometimes have people staying in both spare rooms but on the otherhand I could really do with somewhere to put her stuff. I think if i get aload of stuff ordered online I'll feel better

ChinChilly · 02/05/2022 18:22

@strawberrysummer19 not sure about the ring around the belly button, it probably is something pregnancy related, but my old belly button piercing looks like its going to split in half 🤢 regretting my teenage decisions 🤣

KizboBaggins · 02/05/2022 18:27

@ChinChilly we are doubling up in the spare room - we've still got the sofa bed in there for when my family come and stay, but will also make it somewhat of a nursery too. I've not gone mad but we'll stick a cot in there and we got a few second hand sets of drawers for baby's things, that I've painted to make the feel a bit more "nursery-like". Tbf I haven't really thought through the logistics of actually having someone stay in there if baby is in his cot... but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

@strawberrysummer19 I haven't had anything like that sorry, I just have what used to be a very inny belly button that is now very much an outy... Have you got a midwife appt soon you could ask? I would suggest google it but we all know how that turns out...

strawberrysummer19 · 02/05/2022 18:29

@KizboBaggins I've just had one, I should have asked ! I have a private growth scan Wednesday I'll see if she knows - she might have been them before
It's only very faint x

ChinChilly · 02/05/2022 18:37

@KizboBaggins we've got a sofa bed in the smallest room which will be doubling up as the nursery but I'm not sure the bed will fully fold out once nursery furniture is in there. The original idea was to get rid of the sofa bed and just use the second bedroom as a spare room but OHs sister is moving back to England as her marriage has broken down and she needs somewhere to stay while she gets back on her feet. I really don't mind her staying but it's made the logistics abit harder. I was thinking of getting the nursery set but just not putting the cot up until she's ready to go in it maybe?

Confusion101 · 02/05/2022 18:48

I'm doing the same as @KizboBaggins for the moment. Still have a bed in the spare room, and just added a changing unit and will use the storage in that room for the baby. I'm not getting a cot until its needed so will cross that bridge in about 9 months time. Perhaps will have to rearrange the furniture or else downside the bed in there. I've not painted it or anything, but it's neutral colours anyway! 😅

NamelessBaby1 · 02/05/2022 19:41

I still need to decide how I'm sorting my rooms too, we have plenty space, but one of the rooms is being used as an office and another has been turned into a TV room, so I need to decide where to put the spare bed and then the current spare room will be baby's room. I'm not rushing to sort it though since they will be in with us for the first few months, hoping I'll have a chance to sort everything out once I'm on mat leave!

My mum has offered to come over and help paint and whatnot too, and I've started making a list of things I want sorted before baby arrives lol. It's never ending at this point! I have a vague idea of painting a hobbit themed mural on one of the walls in what will be the baby's room but I suspect my imagination far outstrips my practical ability to do that haha.

deliwoman1 · 02/05/2022 19:47

@Confusion101, @ChinChilly & @KizboBaggins it's so helpful to hear that your nurseries will be multi-purpose for a while. I'm in the same position and we're moving into the house this week. My little one has a decent closet, and the room is a double but not huge. We're putting the sofa bed, my work desk, and her chest of drawers/changing station in there for now, and then I guess the sofa bed and desk will come out when she and her cot are ready to go in (6 months or so, we hope). I have no idea right now if it'll all fit. We'll probably have to get rid of the sofa bed eventually, which kind of sucks. I wish we had the space just to set everything up now and not have to move stuff about later!

ChinChilly · 02/05/2022 20:04

@deliwoman1 I know, It is helpful others are in the same boat! I had a look how long they should stay in the bedroom with you and it seems to be 6 months as a minimum and 12 months is ideal.. not sure about that but I guess I'm worrying about stuff that doesn't need to be worried about for a while so i think we're gonna put her clothes storage in there with the sofa bed and then reassess the situation maybe spring next year. I'm reluctant to get rid of the sofa bed as it does come in handy and its virtually new because of COVID it was hardly used.

We've got a decent sized 3 bed victorian house so the rooms are a really good size and I'm sitting here like why do I feel like there's no space 🤣... we're not hoarders btw 🤣 we're defo not utilising spaces very well though

kiwi17 · 02/05/2022 21:39

We've just finished painting the nursery today - took advantage of the bank holiday weekend and dh being able to do the jobs I can no longer bend down for 😂 I found that having it painted ready helped last time as I could then put all the stuff in there and keep it contained plus it keeps the MiL from asking whether we've done it yet haha!

ShellUK09 · 02/05/2022 22:48

At the moment our spare room is more of a dumping ground and storage space too than a nursery and we are not really doing much with it until we have to, so when she needs to move out of our room and we have to buy a bigger cot. Decided to keep the spare bed there for now in case one of us is really struggling with sleep deprivation! Really don't want to get rid of our spare bed to be honest! The other room is an office. Wish we had a 4 bedroom house!

Hope3821 · 03/05/2022 13:28

@Lianna93 I got the worst leg cramps at around 24 weeks, woke me up at night in total agony and sore for a few days after, plus restless legs at night. I started using magnesium sensitive spray on my calf muscles before bed and doing easy lower leg and hip stretches just before bed too. I'm 28+4 now and haven't had any problems since keeping it going before bed. Hope that helps.

We are really behind on getting things ready! I'm starting to get into a small panic as we literally only have a few pieces of clothing and a few other things. Really need to get the essentials bought lol!

Apparently if you make a baby wish list on Amazon you can get a free gift when you buy eligible products, we're going to get the tommy tippee nappy bin!

ShellUK09 · 04/05/2022 11:53

@Hope3821 I have tried to get the free baby box on Amazon but I can't seem to get it to work in my basket, I've tried all different ways of moving different items from the baby wish list to the basket but it keeps saying I can't use the code. It's driving me mad so may have to give up. Have you managed to get it to work?

strawberrysummer19 · 04/05/2022 13:13

ShellUK09 · 04/05/2022 13:46

@strawberrysummer19 ah excellent, glad it worked for you! I was trying to buy a birthing ball with mine but wonder if I need to get one only sold by Amazon to make it work? Will keep trying different things!

strawberrysummer19 · 04/05/2022 13:49

@ShellUK09 yes i think it has to be certain things
I went in with baby stuff which I knew I wanted /needed and more expensive in other places etc x

Also bottles work if that helps if you haven't got bottles already

I bought mine on there the other day
Mam are doing a newborn set cheaper then the shops and cheaper than boots sales atm so good old Amazon x

NamelessBaby1 · 04/05/2022 15:34

@Hope3821 Ahh I woke up with calf cramp for the first time ever this morning, nearly booted my cat who sleeps on my bed into next week as I lept out of bed! Will need to start doing stretches before bed or try that spray if it happens again as it was really horrible!

My hip has been getting sore while sleeping but remembered I had actually bought an extra pillow for my leg and that seems to have really helped last night (just not with the cramp lol). Swings and roundabouts at this point I guess!

missv556 · 04/05/2022 15:49

Just had my growth scan. I remember seeing a couple others had one today as well. How did it go? The report said my placenta was anterior when all other scans before have showed it as posterior. Don't think it matters, just thought it a but odd that it's in a different position all of a sudden. And baby measured big! 3 lbs 14 oz estimate. He was only 2 lbs 10 oz about 10 days ago when I went for the 4d scan rofl surely he didn't balloon that much in such a short time. Consultant will call me tomorrow morning anyway to discuss it all

ChinChilly · 04/05/2022 16:13

@ShellUK09 @strawberrysummer19 I didn't know about the amazon freebie I'll have to have a look at that!

@missv556 I have heard the placenta can move didn't realise it could completely change position mind. I think the weight estimates by scans are abit unreliable I bet it was nice to see him again though.

Is anybody having days where they are full of energy then other days where they don't want to get out of bed? Yesterday I got soo much done including 2 45 minute dog walks... where as today omg 🥱😴 I am on another round of antibiotics for another UTI so I'm guessing that isn't helping.

Danani · 04/05/2022 16:56

Hey all!

I have been MIA and there are SO MANY PAGES to catch up on! (not complaining!) It's great to see so many of you who are also a few days/week ahead and see you all doing well and getting ready!

I'm 27+2 today and cannot believe I'll be in my 3rd trimester next week! Time has flown by especially the last 1-2 months!

We've been doing a lot of shopping, and while our second bedroom is currently office/dumping ground for deliveries, I cannot wait to start emptying it out and start setting things up for our little one! Everything is so small and adorable, I literally am so excited to start creating the nursery! I do have a few things still outstanding on my list though - what is everyone doing for a nursing chair? I want one, but I want it to be cute and I'm sorry but those classic nursing chairs are so not (no offense to anyone who has one - I'm sure they are the comfiest).😁Also is it important that it's a rocking chair? Could a cute armchair/lounge chair with an ottoman/footstool work too?

In other news, I have the dreaded glucose test booked for next Friday - everyone has been saying it's horrible...has anyone had it recently and any tips? Is it really as bad as everyone says? I don't care about blood tests, etc - they do not phase me, but because people keep chiming in about how horrible the GT is, I am actually starting to dread it.. 😐

Oh and lastly (sorry for the long-ass post, can you tell I haven't been here in ages?) - is anyone else experiencing or has experienced a change in baby movements at this stage (27 weeks)? I had one SUPER active day last week, and when I say I, I mean the baby. She was kicking up a storm literally the majority of the day, I could feel with my hand, I could see my stomach jumping up and down. That was Sunday. Then the past 2 days and today, I can feel her move, but...don't know how to best explain it, it feels like she is somewhere deep inside / further away / not on the surface? Like I feel movements, but not necessarily when I touch my belly, it's more like this internal fluttery/twitchy/swooshy feeling, and it's also gone down LOW, like around/under my bikini line. I'm not worried per se, as I have been feeling her every day, but is it normal for movement at this stage to vary this wildly in terms of intensity/location? I keep thinking the bigger the baby gets the more hard-core the kicks should be, but it's not really the case, I mean yes, they are generally getting stronger and more, and more noticeable, but she would have one super active/hyper day and then go much quieter for a few days...Is anyone else going through / gone through this?
