I donโ€™t know when Iโ€™m due, Iโ€™ve not had a period since DS was born but I got 1-2 weeks on a Clearblue digi this morning which puts me sometime late October or early November (I think!)
Feels like Iโ€™m too far behind the October group but too early for a November oneโ€ฆ anyone due a similar time and want to join me? Would love to have some company ๐Ÿ˜Š

@TheBirdintheCave I have been looking at this website for the past week, and find it really reassuring to see the chance of success improve every day: datayze.com/miscarriage-reassurer

The comment at the bottom also really helps: 'Yet, while miscarriage is common, it is not the likely outcome.'

I totally get it though- I am 5 weeks today and woke up at 2am in a panic that my boobs weren't hurting, couldn't get back to sleep!
They are my only marker that I am pregnant at the moment and I went straight to thinking this was going to be like before. My mind just went straight to the negatives despite the fact that so many people say symptoms come and go at this stage. They are back to tingling now, although not sure if that's because I'm just poking them constantly ๐Ÿ˜‚

misslahx · 03/03/2022 11:03

@theblueflowers thank you for posting that link!! I got 81.4% which puts me at ease. Thank you thank you xxx

Foxella · 03/03/2022 11:36

@Annny27 ooh, what a lovely start to the day ๐Ÿคข๐Ÿ˜‚ hope you managed some breakfast and feeling ok now!

@TheBirdintheCave I would also go for the scan still. Are there other options you could look at like private blood tests? Itโ€™s like a scan though, all it will say is whether things are ok at the time taken and wonโ€™t give ongoing reassurance. Maybe a general MH/anxiety chat with the GP, or look into a local therapist for a private session? Itโ€™s awful that itโ€™s so hard to access the support you need.
Also, please donโ€™t compare symptoms with your last pregnancy. They may be similar or they may be totally different - this is a different baby after all and you wouldnโ€™t expect it to be identical to your first in any other way!

Last time I prodded my boobs constantly for reassurance that I was still pregnantโ€ฆ this time theyโ€™re not even a little bit sore (thank god, Iโ€™m still bf DS!) and no nausea today either. Iโ€™m just trying to keep thinking that thereโ€™s definitely no sign of anything being wrong, so the chances are that all is fine. I do wish there was a way of knowing tho!

@misslahx Iโ€™m in the uk, in Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ ๐Ÿ˜Š anyone else??

@theblueflowers Yeah I look at that all the time on 83.2% at the moment but it doesn't help much because I think, well, someone has to be in the 17% so it's probably me sigh

My friend was just telling me that she had a lot of the same things with her last pregnancy (spotting, faint lines to start with, on and off nausea) and her daughter was born not long ago so that's made me feel a touch better at least :/

Mochii · 03/03/2022 12:11

@99pctpractice. I am already over 5 weeks now and waiting for an early scan, but have been told to expect the worst due to the low starting numbers. Iโ€™ve no idea what my current level is as Iโ€™ve chosen not to retest

TheBirdintheCave · 03/03/2022 12:25

@Foxella I'm just really scared now that it will cause bleeding and I'll scare myself more when I see that.

I'm in Sussex by the way :)

@Mochii If they expect HCG numbers to be a certain level why are there such wide ranging charts of what's normal? It's so confusing. I really hope everything turns out ok for you

xreadytoglow · 03/03/2022 12:33

Hiii everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š
This looks like a really lovely, supportive, active group so I wondered if I can join in! My EDD is the 12th of November so not 'early' Nov as such but not far off ๐Ÿคช
I'm cautiously pregnant with my first after IVF. I see a couple of names in here I recognise from the IVF group ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ
Trying to stay positive and optimistic and try to enjoy every day that I am pregnant. I hope everyone's doing okay x

Mochii · 03/03/2022 12:37

@TheBirdintheCave thank you! I think some ranges displayed are wider as people do have these levels but it doesnโ€™t necessarily mean itโ€™s a good one to have. Not sure though to be honest as even the clinics have different thresholds! Hopefully Iโ€™m one of the lucky ones in the end ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

CurbsideProphet · 03/03/2022 13:18

@Anny27 I'm a week ahead of you. I can't brush my teeth in the morning but I do manage before bed. Ice lollies are currently my saviour!

Coastaldreamer · 03/03/2022 13:38

Hey ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿฝ

Have been lurking around this group for the past few days and with my strongest positive again today at 18 DPO I finally feel confident to join this group!

EDD online according to LMP is 8th Nov Smile

PeoniesInJune · 03/03/2022 13:54

Hello everyone, Iโ€™m brand new Mumsnet. My expected due date is November 2nd. I found out I was pregnant at 9dpo and today Iโ€™m 5+1 and my anxiety is through the roof. Iโ€™m 32 and when I was in my early 20s I had 3 recurrent miscarriages in the space of several months.

My tests in this pregnancy have been the strongest positives Iโ€™ve ever had and while that does help relieve my worries a bit, Iโ€™ve had such uncomfortable cramping this time around. Itโ€™s eased somewhat the last few days but the EPU arenโ€™t willing to see me yet as thereโ€™s been no other signs that miscarriage could be occurring. Iโ€™m just finding it so hard to just relax and feel pregnant. Iโ€™ve booked a private scan for 7 weeks ish as Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™d drive myself mad by 12 weeks otherwise.

Nice to meet you all. Smile

misslahx · 03/03/2022 13:54

@Coastaldreamer congratulations!!!! And welcome xx

I contacted my GP today to ask if there was any way I could have a scan earlier than my 12 week as I am really suffering with anxiety since I lost my last at 11 weeks. They have said they don't do ' reassurance scans' and that I will have to wait until my 8 week appointment with my midwife.

Has anyone else had this? They don't do much mental health wise for early pregnancy do they ๐Ÿ˜ข

xreadytoglow · 03/03/2022 14:04

I think it's so unfair that your first scan is at 12 weeks.. that is such a long time and a precarious time to wait. I can sympathise with everyone's anxieties. I would 100% book a private scan if you are in the position to do so. Because I had IVF we get a scan at the clinic at 7 weeks, without that I would definitely be booking a private scan too. I'm sorry that the NHS aren't more reassuring.

TheBirdintheCave · 03/03/2022 14:21

@misslahx Nope they don't seem to care at all :(

@Coastaldreamer Hi! I remember you from the other group :)

@PeoniesInJune Congrats :D There are a lot of us feeling really anxious on this thread. Hopefully we can get through it.

Lbdp · 03/03/2022 14:36

Hi everyone,

Can I join? This is my first pregnancy (via IVF) and I'm due 19th Oct. Very excited after 3 years of TTC and no positive tests.

When do most people have their first appointment with the midwife? I was lucky enough to have a scan at my IVF clinic this week at 6weeks+5 and everything is progressing well.

I rang my GP who gave me the community midwife booking line, spoke to them yesterday and they said someone would be in touch in the next few weeks to look at getting an appointment in. Just a bit confused as I thought your first appointment should be 8 weeks and definitely before 10 as that's when a lot of the genetic testing takes place.

DM1720 · 03/03/2022 14:38

@TheBirdintheCave sorry to hear youโ€™re so anxious. The scan wonโ€™t do any harm at all, got for it!! Iโ€™d love to have an early one!!
I think we probably all are anxious to a certain extent. Have you tried meditating? It really helps me to relax. There are some good apps you can download. There are so many benefits to deep breathing!
Iโ€™m getting very slight nausea but itโ€™s very on and off. Iโ€™ve nothing consistent really when it comes to symptoms but it is still early days.

Mochii · 03/03/2022 14:39

@Lbdp Iโ€™ve been told Iโ€™ll be contacted at 10 weeks too. Last time I had a telephone appointment at 8 weeks. The genetic testing was at about 16 weeks I think, definitely after 12 but canโ€™t remember exactly when!

Lbdp · 03/03/2022 14:41

Thanks @Mochii that's good to know! Makes more sense why there wasn't an immediate rush to get booked in.

TheBirdintheCave · 03/03/2022 14:49

@DM1720 There's just no point when I'll be so far behind what they're expecting to see and I don't want to start the spotting off again :/ At some point we'll book a private one for closer to eight weeks. Hopefully I make it that far.

misslahx · 03/03/2022 14:54

Just booked a private scan which I will be 9 + 4 days, on 31st. I read in the booking confirmation that there is a chance it could be internal??? Is it likely it would be internal at 9 and a half weeks?
I've had a internal scan before after I MC which wasn't the best but I would rather not have one and be worrying about bleeding

GodspeedJune · 03/03/2022 15:04

Hello to more newbies!

CurbsideProphet How is your sickness now? Are you feeling any better, or at least managing to keep some food and water down?

Mochii I listened to a podcast about conflicting info on HCG levels. I really hope it all works out for you. Added stress when you least need it. Flowers

PeoniesInJune Iโ€™ve been having cramping too, if itโ€™s any comfort. My fertility clinic are seeing me at 7+4 for a scan so hopefully yours will bring some reassurance too. Iโ€™m 6 weeks tomorrow and although a scan now is tempting, Iโ€™m worried if I go too soon they might not be able to give a definitive answer.

misslahx Could you book a private scan? Theyโ€™re really reasonable. We have one at 7+4 and if everything is ok then Iโ€™ll probably book another midpoint between then and the 12 week NHS scan.

misslahx · 03/03/2022 15:07

@GodspeedJune hey! I have just booked a scan privately. I'll be 9 weeks 4 days by the time I have it so I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed until then.

I think it will be an internal scan as I'll be less than 10 weeks and I'll be able to get a clearer view of the baby x

GodspeedJune · 03/03/2022 15:11

misslahx Sorry I think I cross posted with you. Great that youโ€™ve got one booked! That gives you a date to work towards now too Smile

My 7 week scan is at my fertility clinic and it will be internal so although theyโ€™re not fun, they must be safe x

Foxella · 03/03/2022 15:22

Hi @xreadytoglow @Coastaldreamer @PeoniesInJune @Lbdp and congratulations! Welcome to the club of endless anxiety! I think weโ€™re all feeling pretty much the same but finding it a little easier with some company to help each other through!

@Lbpd my appointments last time were something like thisโ€ฆ
Booking in appt at 7 weeks, just a load of questions on medical history (mine and DPโ€™s). Usually urine sample, bloods, height/weight too but due covid it was over the phone so these didnโ€™t get done until 12 weeks. No genetic testing, and no real urgency unless you are a more complex case.
12 weeks dating scan, timing for this is important. I opted for combined screening (test for downs/edwards/patau) but due to babyโ€™s position it wasnโ€™t possible so I had additional bloods at 14ish weeks for quad test instead.
Midwife appointment at 16 weeks which was a 5 minute phone call, tho itโ€™s probably back to face to face now.
20 week scan to look for anomalies
22(ish) weeks midwife home visit, got to listen to babyโ€™s heartbeat on the Doppler ๐Ÿ˜Š
I think that was about it until 28 weeks. Obviously varies between health trusts and if higher risk then thereโ€™s other appointments added in too.

Unless thereโ€™s any problems they just leave you to it really, I guess women have been having babies since forever but it doesnโ€™t make it easier when youโ€™re going through it!
