Anyone stressed about what to buy:
A couple of packs of onesies in each size
Sleeping bags (muslin ones good for summer)
Nappies
Wet wipes
Muslins
Hats x2
Maybe some little jumpers or an all in one, I've heard good things about the star wraps
Bibs
Moses basket
Car seat
Pushchair suitable for newborn
Pre made newborn formula
Painkillers for you and maybe arnica for the bruising

And that's it. Everything else you may or may not need but can pick up at the supermarket if needed.
Trust me, you can spend a fortune on fancy nipple shields that won't fit properly, breast pumps you might never use, beautiful blankets that get dumped for the sleeping bag, tiny outfits that are way too much of a faff... Etc. And then you can be sorting through it all 6 months later wishing you hadn't. Even things like baby carriers are worth trying with your baby.

@Isonthecase thank you so much! I just emailed myself your list so I'll be able to find it once the time for buying things gets closer!

Anyone else got a scan today?!
Only a few hours to my first scan (11 +1 weeks). I feel so nervous and sick! I'll be getting the bloods for the NIPT test tonight and then it's a long wait until those results. I just want to
Fast forward 10 days!!!

Billymay · 22/02/2022 14:29

Got my date through for my scan.. 17/03/22 9am.. countdown begins. Xxx

PrettyTulip · 22/02/2022 14:43

How far along will you be then @Billymay ? 😊

Billymay · 22/02/2022 14:45

12+1 @PrettyTulip. Due date from my Lmp is 28/09/22.. end of the month baby although I was induced a week early last time so maybe it will be our wedding anniversary. Xx

stimpyyouidiot · 22/02/2022 14:47

@Rebeccalin

Hi ladies, I was with you all on thread 1 and 2 and took a break because if bleeding and worries. Thankfully a scan at 7 weeks showed all is ok.

I am now 9 weeks but I have Covid and I am so worried! Does anyone know what impact covid can have on the baby this early on. I've stopped feeling nauseous now and I'm so concerned.

I've just had Covid and was all ok x
Isonthecase · 22/02/2022 14:50

@IzzyLeigh no worries, I remember how frustrating it was realising just how much I'd wasted that never got worn or used, even with number 2 🙈

EverydayIsPJday · 22/02/2022 15:01

@Billymay my scan is booked for the same day, at 8am. I will be 12 weeks exactly. We are going in holiday two days after so fingers crossed for good news

Carebear99 · 22/02/2022 15:01

@ShiningStarz good luck! I had my nipt last week, scan this Friday. I was so worried about the nipt results as I'm old (aged 39) but all was OK.

The countdown to scans is stresstul

Billymay · 22/02/2022 15:04

Oh wow @EverydayIsPJday we are pretty much the same then.. we can share our nerves/excitement. I’ve not had any scans yet so I’m just praying everything is ok. 22 days and counting xxx

ShiningStarz · 22/02/2022 15:06

Snap with the age @Carebear99 !!

EverydayIsPJday · 22/02/2022 15:08

Same @Billymay I haven't had a scan either. I've been pretty quiet the past couple of weeks as my symptoms have massively declined. I'm pretty much just tired now whereas I was extremely nauseous before. I've become really really nervous all of a sudden 😬 I know there's nothing that can be done anyway so I'm just praying for good news. Be lovely to share scan photos on the day 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Billymay · 22/02/2022 15:15

I’m with you @EverydayIsPJday not much symptoms here… maybe a bit nauseous in the evenings sometimes and tired but that could be down to my little girl wanting to play at 3am. Have you joined the Facebook group? Yes let’s share our scan pics, will be nice to have someone who’s close in dates as me. You will be fine, it is a really anxious time but you have so much to look forward too. Holiday will be nice just after so you can go and relax while being in your baby bubble xxx

Dreamer30 · 22/02/2022 15:20

@Carebear99 my symptoms disappeared at the start of last week and I was really worried but I had a scan on Friday and she said all was well and my placenta was forming nicely so that would explain why I felt better. My sickness has gone (woohoo) but some things still give me the heave lol and my boobs hurt but not nearly as bad as before

Carebear99 · 22/02/2022 15:20

@ShiningStarz good luck with the nipt, I was petrified all last week but it was fine! When are you due? Is your you first?

Re symptoms I'm the same, tired but nothing else now. I've had a fair few private scans but I decided I would stick it out and wait for the 12 week one on Friday

EverydayIsPJday · 22/02/2022 15:26

@Billymay ah yes hopefully. We're taking my two boys to centre parcs for the first time, I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully when we get back we can announce to our mums on Mother's Day that number 3 is on its way.
I am not in Facebook unfortunately, I'm off the grid with social media 🙈 I'm jealous though as I'd love to see all the baby pics etc.
I've seen a few of us on here who have had wierd symptoms so I am trying to be hopeful. I know what you mean about little ones wanting to play at unsociable times...how old is your DD?

ShiningStarz · 22/02/2022 15:31

@Carebear99 I think my due date in 8th sept. What's out you? I'll prob have a c section again tho so it'll be earlier than my due date. This is my second.
Googling and symptom searching is soul destroying! We are all so different! What I feel this time is totally different to my last pregnancy.
As @EverydayIsPJday there's nothing that can be done. We have to trust our bodies to do their thing !!

Billymay · 22/02/2022 15:32

I have 2 girls 7 and 1 this Saturday. We didn’t want a big gap this time but didn’t think it would happen so soon so will be 19 month gap 🙈 will be lovely to announce to your mums… I lost my mum suddenly last April so first one without but at least I have my girls and hopefully a scan picture of number 3 ti keep me occupied. Centre parcs is lovely.. I live in Norfolk and one is 20 mins from me although I’ve only been once. How old are your 2 boys? Xx

Sounds like you're near me! I love that center parcs :)
Carebear99 · 22/02/2022 15:34

@ShiningStarz due around 10 Sept. I had an emergency c section with my first.....21 years ago! I don't know if I'll have another one, I think not but I'm not sure

SkaterChick · 22/02/2022 17:03

Hey everyone,

I had my booking in appointment this afternoon, does anyone know how long it takes for your maternity exemption certificate to come through? Im on 3 prescribed meds for sickness and I might need 2 more of they want to keep me on specific vitamins... I'd rather not spend another £50 on prescriptions if I can help it!!!

EverydayIsPJday · 22/02/2022 17:16

@Billymay I'm really sorry to hear about your mum. That must've been very hard.

Ah so it's your third too, that's lovely (sorry of I knew this I'm finding it hard to keep up with everyone's journeys!). I'm not sure there are any ideal age gaps though 😂 they're all tricky for different reasons I expect. My boys are 4 and 2.

I'm going to have a c section (third after an emergency one, then an elective last time) so baby most likely be born at 39 weeks.

For some reason my notifications stopped for this thread, so I thought it went quiet. Sorry for being awol.

@Isonthecase when I had my DD I had these amazing baby onesies by this Australian company called Bonds, the onesie is called the Wondersuit. They have the usual hand fold over mittens but then also have them for feet too so no need for socks. I was obsessed. They usually did decent sales, and free shipping too. I am planning to stock up on a few of those again.

Congratulations to everyone who had scans last week, and good luck to those with ones coming up! Looking forward to seeing some lovely little baby pictures
