Yup about half an hour!

@SkaterChick

Hey everyone,

I had my booking in appointment this afternoon, does anyone know how long it takes for your maternity exemption certificate to come through? Im on 3 prescribed meds for sickness and I might need 2 more of they want to keep me on specific vitamins... I'd rather not spend another £50 on prescriptions if I can help it!!!

I had mine sent via email straight after my booking appointment.
Carebear99 · 22/02/2022 19:10

I had to send the maternity exemption form off, took weeks to get the certificate

ShiningStarz · 22/02/2022 19:25

Well I finally had my first scan at 11 weeks and all was fine. They said all looked very healthy. I got the harmony NIPT blood taken so that should come back in the next 10 days and fingers crossed all low risk.

IzzyLeigh · 22/02/2022 20:19

@Rebeccalin glad your 7 week scan was good! I hope you feel better ASAP Flowers

@ShiningStarz congrats on the scan news! All crossed for good NIPT results!

@ShiningStarz I'm so happy for you!!!

annlee3817 · 23/02/2022 07:08

@ShiningStarz congrats on the scan, fingers crossed you don't have to wait the full ten days for the results.

@SkaterChick I was meant to get mine emailed to me, bit it never came, I received it within a week though. Boots gave me a form to request a refund one reviews, mine was backdated to beginning of December.

@Rebeccalin glad you're scan went well

Carebear99 · 23/02/2022 07:24

@ShiningStarz I had the IONA test and got the results on a Friday after having the test on a Monday so hopefully harmony will be similar

annlee3817 · 23/02/2022 10:12

Mine was Iona @Carebear99 and it took 9 days, I think it's down to how close the lab is to you and how busy they are

Carebear99 · 23/02/2022 10:16

@annlee3817 I went to a clinic on North London. The wait is awful! I was lucky though. Now I'm just waiting for Friday's 12w scan.... this week is dragging

annlee3817 · 23/02/2022 10:19

Ah am sure all will be fine @carebear99, I had mine last week, nothing now for 8 weeks, which is different to last time as I had a sex scan at 17 weeks which broke it up.

Carebear99 · 23/02/2022 10:23

@annlee3817 If all goes well I'll be having regular private scans. There is a lovely independent clinic fairly near me that charges only £50 for a scan.

What's your due date?

annlee3817 · 23/02/2022 10:27

@Carebear99 due date is 30th August :)

Similar price here for scans, hope it helps you

Carebear99 · 23/02/2022 11:28

Most ultrasound clinics charge £79!

PrettyTulip · 23/02/2022 12:59

Hey guys, can you help me out?
I'm seeing you all talk about these NIPT, Harmony etc tests - what are these for? Are they different to the screening tests offered at the 12 week scan (DS, Edwards etc)

I've opted to have the screening done at 12 weeks, however, we do not want to know the sex and I'm worried now that the results may tell us what the gender is 😔

Carebear99 · 23/02/2022 13:26

The NIPT test is a non invasive test, blood test, which is more accurate than the combined test. Google it, I chose NIPT. I had to pay but worth it as the combined test isn't as accurate

EverydayIsPJday · 23/02/2022 14:10

@PrettyTulip the NHS screening won't tell you the sex. You will just receive a letter telling you the risk ratio score for the things they screen for (DS, Edwards etc). They will ask you as soon as you arrive for your 20 week scan if you want to know the sex, if you say no they angle the handheld scanner away from any 'potty shots'.

KatBee121 · 23/02/2022 16:02

While we're on this topic, can those of you that have had their 12 week scans tell me whether they give you the chromosomal abnormality risk then and there at the scan, or does it always arrive in the post afterwards? I gave some blood samples at my booking appointment so hopefully they'll have already done some testing on that. Was hoping they'd be able to tell me straight away so that I feel comfortable to start telling people about the pregnancy ☺️

Carebear99 · 23/02/2022 16:25

They do a separate test at the 12w scan, different from the booking different bloods. They can't do the combined test too early.

They'll write to you with the results, you won't get them there

EverydayIsPJday · 23/02/2022 16:49

Yes the blood test at booking in is for HIV etc. The combined screening results come in the post a few days after the 12 week scan but they usually say if the results are very low (or high risk) then they will call you within a set time.

Weddingaug2019 · 23/02/2022 16:51

Hi guys, I know it's early but just wondering about scheduled C-sections?
My DD arrived by emergency C at 41 weeks, and I will be booked in for scheduled C this time. Do they usually do it a bit earlier than your due date? Anyone have experience with this?
Also.. has anyone found it to be an easier recovery than emergency? I really struggled with my first. Thanks 🙏😊

@EverydayIsPJday perfect. Thank you so much!

EverydayIsPJday · 23/02/2022 17:01

@Weddingaug2019 I had ecms for my first and elected for number 2. They were as different as night and day. My first I was in hosp for 5 days, had massive blood loss (although I'd gone through alot the days prior) and took a while to feel anywhere near strength. The second I was home within 24 hours, tiny blood loss (within normal range) and was in the supermarket day 2! Very relaxed, very organised and was enough for me to be sat here waiting for number 3 Smile of course you have the aches and pains of the surgery but absolutely nothing like number 1.

I was booked in for 39 weeks exactly which is the norm I believe. They won't do earlier as they then have to give the baby steroids to assist with breathing. Any later and they get a bit twitchy that you will go into labour and end up needing an emcs.
