@stimpyyouidiot I could have written your post!!
Actually making a list of what to eat now and I'll have to go to shops tomorrow evening!
Lots of shakes for breakfast, omelettes for lunch and meat/fish and veg for dinner!! Trying to stay away from heavy carbs 🙈🙈🙈
Glad it's not just me! Am so embarrassed of myself honestly. People must think she's really let herself go again! I've got a wedding to go to in June. Just don't want to be the size of an actual Land Rover by then

ShiningStarz · 20/02/2022 19:56

@stimpyyouidiot hehe !! It's so hard, in my
Last pregnancy i was so hungry by the third trimester I just kept eating and eating! Late at night and even very very early in the morning!!
I'm
Starting tomorrow too!! Let's do this!

Not sure where you live @IzzyLeigh but I'm in the UK and the weather has been horrendous past few weeks, cold, wet, windy. I have barely done any exercise! Must start doing some light exercise at home!

IzzyLeigh · 20/02/2022 21:42

@ShiningStarz I live in Buffalo, New York (up by Canada, like I can literally see Canada from my house). It's been pretty snowy, windy, and cold for the past few weeks, but sadly I can't use that as an excuse since I never leave my house or exercise even when it's warm and sunny out haha
I WFH and my office and bedroom are upstairs while the bathroom is downstairs, so I think my zillion trips up and down the stairs to the bathroom every day must count for something, right? At least that's what I'm going to keep telling myself haha

@stimpyyouidiot

Going to start calorie counting and eating healthily tomorrow. I know I won't lose anything but I don't want to put stones on like last time and be fatter than I've ever been before. I've just googled what my weight was from booking (it was kg and I have no idea) and honestly am horrified. I'm starting this on such a bad weight so I just need to damage control massively and stop eating constantly because I feel rubbish and a bit sicky. Then hopefully once baby is here I can go mega and get rid of it once and for all since I know this is my last.

Scan Friday so fingers crossed for that.

If it's any help - SlimmingWorld have a separate plan for pregnant ladies. It's not as strict as calorie counting and really good plan.

Just to call out I don't work or advertise slimming world ha!! I've been going since early December so crossed over when I conceived, and I currently weigh 2lb less than pre pregnancy (I'm 13+3)
My midwife said it was a great idea to keep going as it's not restrictive and is just a balanced diet - great for people who need a bit of support like me :)

But try not to stress about it, I'm sure once our babies are here we'll have no time to eat and lose weight fast hahaha!!

mummylou1982 · 20/02/2022 23:22

Hi everyone, fell behind on the threads as I have been super busy! I am now 12 weeks and 1 day, I have my 12 week scan on Tuesday, nervous even though I had an early scan with very strong heartbeat. I have also seen obstetrics as well and will be seeing them again next week. I will be delivering early as I am diabetic and also as I had a baby in the car and my last labour and birth was only 12 minutes! My diabetes is steadily coming under control, even though I feel like a pink cushion (I am also being injected daily with heparin :( ). Hopefully all good news on Tuesday!

Carebear99 · 20/02/2022 23:57

@ShiningStarz thank you and thank you to everyone else. Yes I told the midwife how I'm feeling but she was really dismissive, said something about referring me to the Lavender team (seems to be the pregnancy mental health team) when I'm 26 weeks. She kept asking if I'm sure I want extra help. I told her that I'm an anxious person and I've had panic attacks before but it made no difference

Nightshiftnursemum · 21/02/2022 03:38

Morning all. May I have the link / name of the linked Facebook group please, many thanks in advance.

ShiningStarz · 21/02/2022 08:04

@Carebear99 I hope you get the support you need. It sounds like you will definitely need the support after baby is born, if I'm honest that is the most overwhelming and anxious time even for people who aren't normally anxious. If your midwife is useless then ask for another.

@mummylou1982 gosh you have a lot going on but sounds like you are getting all the care you need. Lots of luck with your pregnancy.

@IzzyLeigh wow! Sounds amazing! In my last pregnancy I found walking outdoors was something I had to do as I had lots of aches and pains from the weight of the baby. If you can get out even after work for a quick 30 minutes it'll make you feel better and get up or blood pumping. I'm WFH too and if I didn't leave the house before work, at lunch or after work I'd go mad!! I don't go far literally 20 minutes 3 x day.

Happy new week everyone!

Iv my scan this week too, it's 11 weeks +2. I get harmony done at that appointment. It'll be a long 7-10 day wait for the results 🤞

annlee3817 · 21/02/2022 09:05

@Carebear99 I agree with @ShiningStarz about asking to speak to a different midwife. In my area we have a website for perinatal mental health support and contacts for earlier on in pregnancy, and then referral to the perinatal mental health team at a later date if needed.

If you can, you need to push for better care, not right that you're just left until 26 weeks with anxiety

ShiningStarz · 21/02/2022 09:29

@stimpyyouidiot it was a smoothie for breakfast for me!! No toast!!! Step away from the bread!
Maternity jeans are bliss.

TotoAnnihiliation · 21/02/2022 09:43

@surprised12 at my booking in appointment the midwife suggested slimming world. I'm going to start once my appetite resembles some kind of normality. I'm still struggling with food!

I've just sneezed and it feels like I've ripped muscles around my womb. I think it was because I was trying not to pee myself at the same time. My pelvic floor muscles ain't what they used to be!

calipoppy · 21/02/2022 10:18

@Carebear99 have you checked if you can self refer to the mental health team? In my area it's possible to, might be worth looking. Sorry your midwife wasn't more supportive ☹️

dkedm15 · 21/02/2022 11:07

Hi everyone! First time posting 🥰 I’m 11+3 today so current due date is 09/09. I’ve got my scan next week which we cannot wait for (bit miffed I’ll be 13 weeks and they didn’t book me in this week but oh well!). So exciting seeing everyone’s scans 💜

This is our first pregnancy - I feel sick ALL the time (even moving in the night will wake me up) and this week painful nips have come out of nowhere with a vengeance 🤣. On the more serious side it’s been very emotional as our best friend was a couple of weeks ahead of us but has suffered their 3rd MC. I feel so so guilty as we caught so quickly and (touch wood) haven’t had any problems with the pregnancy.

Look forward to going through these next few months with you all! 💜

IzzyLeigh · 21/02/2022 11:18

@dkedm15 welcome and congrats! I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's MC, but hopefully yours continues to go smoothly!

@ShiningStarz I suppose I could handle a walk. Maybe when the weather starts to get a little nicer I can try that. The only downside is that I don't live in the best neighborhood. Speaking of which:

Is anyone moving at any point during their pregnancy? I know it's ill-advised to do so, but our lease it up September 1 (terrible timing as my tentative due date is September 24). We can't stay in this place because we'll def need a bigger place in a safer neighborhood. I'm thinking maybe we'll get a new place August 1 so that we have an extra month to move and get ready just in case baby comes early? Anyone else in a similar spot? I'm very anxious about it.

annlee3817 · 21/02/2022 11:27

Congrats @dkedm15 sorry to hear about your friend, hope it goes quick for you in the lead up to your scan

@IzzyLeigh we're in the process of buying our first house 😬 the lady we're buying from is looking for her house, so hoping to move around June time, will need new carpets and paint, so should be interesting :)

ShiningStarz · 21/02/2022 11:30

@dkedm15 congrats. So sorry to hear about your friend. Hopefully her recurrent miscarriages are being taken seriously. I'm 11 weeks today so not far behind you. I have a scan this week and then again next week (booked a private one as well as having the NHS one).

@IzzyLeigh iv experienced this but we had 3/4 months to get the house ready. In fairness as long as you can sleep safely and comfortably then so can baby. They don't need much when they are small! Sleep, milk, nappy changes. I got myself so stressed and bought so much stuff I never even used! I was buying online in lockdown so went a bit crazy! I'd say I regret at least a third of what I bought 🙈😂

spierse · 21/02/2022 11:50

@mummylou1982 snap! My 12 week scan is in the morning, I'm also on Heparin as have been diagnosed with APS, meeting my consultant for the first time this afternoon. Good luck tomorrow

stimpyyouidiot · 21/02/2022 12:08
@stimpyyouidiot it was a smoothie for breakfast for me!! No toast!!! Step away from the bread!
Maternity jeans are bliss.
I had porridge with banana in! Dried apricots snack. Tuna and sweetcorn sandwich for lunch, apple in Greek yoghurt with a bit of honey after. Not doing too badly. I feel sick if I get hungry so I'm trying to eat slowly to prolong it!

Glitterygreen · 21/02/2022 13:17

@stimpyyouidiot Omg I am so there with you...I also googled my booking weight because of the KGs and was horrified.

I might look into SW @surprised12, thanks for that! I really struggle to keep on track without a programme to follow so that could be great for me. I don't really see why we shouldn't be able lose weight by just following a healthy diet during pregnancy - the reality is for me if I switched my diet to a healthy plan then I naturally would lose some. But it wouldn't be through restriction or leaving myself hungry, there's just lots I could cut out at the minute.

She says...having just eaten a Ferrero Rocher...

Glitterygreen · 21/02/2022 13:25

Is anyone else getting by waiting for their 12 week scan and not having private ones?

I did have a scan at EPU around 7 weeks due to bleeding and saw a heartbeat which gave me confidence but it feels like such a long time ago and I'm struggling to believe everything is still OK in there!

But equally I can't bring myself to go for a private scan because if there is bad news I'd rather be at the hospital with a nurse or whoever who can tell me the next steps straight away, rather than having to leave the scan then call up and get referred to the hospital etc.

It just feels like such a long time to wait with no news or reassurance doesn't it?! And that's from me who actually has had a scan already.

ShiningStarz · 21/02/2022 13:45

@Glitterygreen I only booked the private appt as I want the NiPT harmony test. Is prob be happy waiting the 12 weeks not having had any scans! It is such a longtime tho!! If you are. Early there maybe try and hold out.

@stimpyyouidiot that sounds amazing!! Iv been good so far. Think WFH makes me think about food more!!!

Finding it so hard to concentrate with work... scan tomorrow !!

Mags146 · 21/02/2022 13:49

Good afternoon everyone! So I needed to tell my manager about the little bean. She organised a meeting with me, took me for a coffee and wanted to see if I was OK as she's noticed I was a bit different recently, lost my focus and wasn't "quite there". I couldn't not say what was going on! I was supposed to tell her next week, but it's all done now. She took it well, and was chafed and noticed something was going on. The schedule of my team will need to be changed as I won't be able to go to events in summer.
Quite glad it's all done, I need to organise meeting with HR next week.

110APiccadilly · 21/02/2022 13:51

@ShiningStarz I occasionally wonder how I'll cope with two under two but I have to remind myself DD will be older then than she is now. One of my friends had her three children each 18 months apart (so she had a three year old, 18 month old and newborn at one point) and seems to still be sane. What will the gap be between yours? Mine will be 22 months.

I've not had and won't be having any private scans - nearest place that does them is not a feasible distance to travel to really. So I'm waiting for my 12 week scan, which is booked for next week. My only concern is that I have to have a negative LFT (and due to work can't isolate to make sure I get one). I'd be pretty unlucky to get a positive I guess, but if I do then my scan will presumably get delayed.

ShiningStarz · 21/02/2022 14:36

@110APiccadilly there will be a 24 month age gap for us! Seems surreal saying it out loud!!!
I'm sure they have to scan you some way, hopefully you don't test positive but if you do hopefully they'll have a plan in place.
If you continue with mask and hand washing you should be fine.
We actually got Covid off family member who is at school! That's the hard bit to control!!

stimpyyouidiot · 21/02/2022 14:46

@Glitterygreen yes I've not had a scan at all yet. I've got my 12 week one on Friday. I've not had any bleeding or anything so im just letting it happen. With my first I got really upset and anxious around 11 weeks and paid £100 for a scan and then had my nhs one shortly after 🙈 I just can't afford to pay for private this time so have waited.
