@stimpyyouidiot

I'm so happy! Midwife called and NIPT came back low risk 😁
Just seen this, fab news :)
ShiningStarz · 10/03/2022 11:14

Awwwww @TotoAnnihiliation the midwife was poking the scanner into my belly to get little one to move !! Was quite funny seeing the wee arms fly around in response 😂😂

TotoAnnihiliation · 10/03/2022 11:24

@ShiningStarz yes, we had the flying arms too. My heart melted a bit when I saw baby touching their face!

stimpyyouidiot · 10/03/2022 11:25

Thank you @GlitteryGreen !!! So pleased.

ShiningStarz · 10/03/2022 11:25

Anyone here had a wheezy cough / chest since being pregnant?! Iv also had Covid in January! I need to start taking inhaler now for the coughing

LaddieCthulu · 10/03/2022 11:30

@stimpyyouidiot

I've totally gone off tea. What fresh hell is this???
That happened to me early in the first trimester. Tea is integral to my identity. I thought I wasn't supposed to have difficulty with the role transition to motherhood until the baby arrived, but no....No tea! I'm a different woman.

How long did it take for everyone to get their results back from the nuchal screenings?

GlitteryGreen · 10/03/2022 11:40

@MOLWI Still waiting for mine, had my scan first thing Monday morning. My letter says up to 5 days but the midwife said it's usually about 9 days, and gave me a number to call if they hadn't come through by then.

MOLWI · 10/03/2022 11:42

@GlitteryGreen Ah ok that's good to know! I'm definitely just being impatient 😂 thank you x

GlitteryGreen · 10/03/2022 11:44

@MOLWI LOL dw, I am checking my app several times a day to see if the results are there yet! We decided not to tell anyone until we get these results, just in case, but we've got a dinner with my whole family tonight so would have been an ideal time to tell them while we're all together. I just wanna get it over and done with, fed up of stressing about how I'm gonna do it. But no such luck.

IzzyLeigh · 10/03/2022 12:02

Welcome @SoOverThisCrap! Congrats on your pregnancy and so sorry for everything you have experienced previously. I think I speak for everyone in here when I say to please always feel like you can talk to us about your fears or anxieties.

@Carebear99 @Em85kk @Weddingaug2019 @TotoAnnihiliation congrats on the scans you guys!

@stimpyyouidiot yes! Such great news about the NIPT results!

@twodice I sure hope the 8 weeks works because it’s looking like that’s the most I can take too. I’m hoping to do a full 8 and then maybe a couple weeks of working a reduced schedule to ease back in. Ultimately though, I might end up just taking 6 and then maybe a few weeks reduced schedule instead. My husband and I both work from home so I’m hoping that helps, plus my schedule is as flexible as I want to make it. My husband gets 8 weeks leave and then once we are both back full time then we will have the baby in childcare/with my husband’s parents during the day. It’s tough. I’m self-employed and live in the U.S., so I can really only take the amount that I can pay myself. So if you do the 8, just know you won’t be the only crazy one attempting it.

@madeleine85 I know every situation is different, but your plan really does give me a lot of hope that I can do this. I’ve been incredibly worried about my short maternity leave plan, especially since it seems extra extra short compared to what everyone else non-US takes. You can expect many many maternity leave questions coming your way from me once we all get closer to September!

You first timers ate lucky you can still hide it! My god I'm almost 14 weeks (2nd pregnancy) and I have a huge bump! Can't be missed 😂😂

IzzyLeigh · 10/03/2022 12:04

I got my NIPT results back yesterday! Took 8 days of anxious agony to get them but everything looked good and we're having a girl! We're over the moon! Star
12-week scan tomorrow and then maybe I can actually sit back and breathe for a couple days knowing that everything is okay for at least the time being!

I also have a huge bump already. Partly not helped by the lockdown pines I haven't shifted!

LionPen · 10/03/2022 12:46

Hey all,

I'm 14+6 and when I went for a poo this morning (TMI sorry!) when wiping I was bleeding and it was definitely from my vagina.
I've got no cramps or any other symptoms but for obvious reasons I'm still worried.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm in two minds if to contact the EPAU or not...

annlee3817 · 10/03/2022 12:55

@IzzyLeigh congrats on the results :)

@TotoAnnihiliation so glad the scan went well, despite having a sleepy baby :)

IzzyLeigh · 10/03/2022 13:37

Thank you @TotoAnnihiliation and @annlee3817!

@LionPen From you described, it sounds like it was just on the toilet paper and not a gush or anything like that. In that case, my complete guess is that it might just from be an angry cervix from straining when you went to the bathroom? I think it's fairly common for spotting to happen from that. Or you could have a tiny bleed for any number of harmless reasons, so try not to jump to conclusions even though it's super hard not to panic anytime there is blood. With that being said, if you're worried, it can't hurt to give EPAU a call to maybe set your mind at ease!

Side note: I want everyone to know that I don't believe in TMI on here. We're pregnant and our bodies are doing crazy things! I know I can't speak for everyone, but I don't want anyone to feel bashful about talking about using the toilet, weird anatomy things, or anything else that wouldn't be considered polite conversation. That's part of why we're all here, right? To talk to people who are all in the same boat and might be able to understand or relate to some of what we might be going through as well, including the bizarre bodily stuff?

Loool yeah I do feel lucky for that. I even go swimming with my mum every week and you can't even notice then!

Wonder when it will start to show? Hmm. I'm 13 weeks already and am not really noticing a huge difference, except my boobs are slightly bigger. Think the way I dress helps too as I rarely wear anything fitted.

MOLWI · 10/03/2022 13:59

@GlitteryGreen let me know when you get yours through and I'll do the same! Ooh that's exciting though! Do you have any plans at all on how you'll tell? X

GlitteryGreen · 10/03/2022 14:03

@LionPen I had a couple of instances of blood when I wiped after a wee a few weeks ago. The first time I called the Dr and went for an early scan (didn't have a midwife yet), and all was fine. It happened again a week or so later and I mentioned it to the midwife at my booking appointment and she didn't even comment really, think it can be normal.

I'd just let your midwife/doc know and see what they say.

Hmm not really. I feel guilty for not telling my sister before now, so in a way I'd like to sneak her in before my mum and dad but I rarely see her alone.

We've had loads of occasion where the 6 of us have been together lately because of birthdays etc but they've all been too early and now there are no more! I could wait until Easter but my DP's family would know by then and I want mine to know first 😂

Have you told people yet?

stimpyyouidiot · 10/03/2022 14:44

I'm 2nd time and I'm not really showing because I'm fat already haha. There is a tiny bump now but I already had a bit anyway because of having dd - I never got rid of the bulge there despite losing some weight!

ShiningStarz · 10/03/2022 15:15

@IzzyLeigh that's great, congrats and a beautiful little girl too!! I think I'll find out after the 20 weeks scan what we are having! Partner doesn't want to know!

@LionPen definitely call the EPU or your midwife. Always best to ask.

I need to stop eating crap! Thankfully starting at same weight as I did with the last pregnancy. I'm totally craving rubbish food!!

Scan went well. Moved forward by 2 days. DD 20/9/22
