Amazing, thank you. It is nice to know that is possible and they won’t say no, it’s all or nothing 🤣
Thinking about it I’m not surprised you got too warm, are you ever in the bath and have to get out because it’s too stuffy after a while? May as well during labour

stimpyyouidiot · 09/03/2022 21:32

Honestly I didn't realise what a weight I was carrying around. Finally can start enjoying this! (Apart from the sicky feeling and heartburn!)

@twodice

Can I ask peoples opinions please? I'm considering taking only 8 weeks of maternity leave (post p). Do you think this would be doable or a totally bonkers idea?

I'm trying to figure out a realistic timeframe in my head. Best case scenario is that I could work up until 38 or 39 weeks. Then I could return to work 8 weeks post birth. But I don't want to pressure myself, so I'm open to the possibility of taking a few more weeks off if needed.

Im not sure how breastfeeding/pumping would work as I'm new to all this. But I work too far away from home to nip back during the day. So I will be out of the home for 9.5 hours a day.

I do have some flexibility with work where I could work a shorter day if needed, as well as taking random days off if needed. Could also maybe consider going back just 4 days a weeks to begin with.

My husband works from home so the plan is for him to mind baby. Is that a crazy idea too?

So, does this sound like it could be possible or is it totally bonkers? Blush

Hi. Just adding my experience. I've gone back to work after 3 months both times. My husband has stayed at home. Helped massively by the fact that he really enjoys it. I won't say it wasn't hard keeping breastfeeding and doing night feeds but both times I managed until 13 months. The worst thing was finding time to express milk to leave at home -and having to hide away and express at work to avoid exploding... I also went to bed very early to get some sleep every night while my husband stayed up with the baby for a bit!

@SoOverThisCrap

So sorry about your losses. I had a MMC last year and it takes away your confidence in everything being ok. I am constantly worried too. xx

annlee3817 · 09/03/2022 22:06

@Bellebun22 lol only when I've genuinely made it too hot, I think the birthing pools are around 37, I was happy laying over a giant bean bag with a fan on me

madeleine85 · 09/03/2022 22:08

@Bellebun22 I didn't have a water birth, but the poop thing did really weird me out. Not helped that my husband joked that it would happen and I got very paranoid. I ended up not having an epidural as labour was so fast, which now i'd do again, as you can feel so much more (both good and bad). I swear I think I did poop and was able to ask them to change the plastic immediately. My husband claims that I did not, and if I did, he didn't see anything. So there is hope! My fear would be an epidural, not feeling anything, and not knowing that you pooped and it's just sitting there. This is my personal nightmare!

Bellebun22 · 09/03/2022 22:42

Apparently they wipe it away so quick so you don’t know or don’t feel uncomfortable. Some people say ‘oh you won’t care’ but you seem the same, we 100% do care! 🤣🤣
I keep mentioning it to my partner that it’s going to happen and we’ll have to deal with it as probably more of a coping mechanism for when it actually happens haha. One guy at work said his wife pooped on their sons head and he still winds her up about it to this day!
That is great you had a fast labour, I always said I’d have an epidural and tbh I’m still open to it but apparently it can lead to higher rates of assisted birth and I don’t really want those horrid tongs up there ripping things even more 🤢
Next time for you I suppose you know you’ve done it before without an epidural, so you can try and be pessimistic in that you can hopefully go on without one 💜 even if it is a little longer in labour than before

stimpyyouidiot · 09/03/2022 22:47

@Bellebun22 I had a pool for my homebirth and I got out last minute to push dd out as I wanted some gravity I think! Just instinct haha. It was amazing for pain relief though. I also didn't poo :))

They kept saying they were concerned my bladder was full and blocking baby and I was like um no I've been involuntarily peeing in the pool while pushing 🤦🏻‍♀️

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 09/03/2022 22:54

@Bellebun22 I pooped a little bit when pushing. I was mortified. Midwife was delighted. Said it meant I was pushing well. They cleared it up instantly. Still mortified

madeleine85 · 10/03/2022 01:41

@Bellebun22 I went into hospital claiming I wasn't going to take any meds, and immediately begged for them when the pain got bad. By the time they got back to me it was too late though. No shame in getting pain management. These stories all made me laugh, so thank you ladies :)

annlee3817 · 10/03/2022 06:25

Yeah I had a feeling a I did in the pool when pushing, felt like something happened and was sure there was a very quick removal, but DH and my Mum swore I didn't. About a year later after a few drinks they admitted I had, but they hadn't really seen anything, just the midwife grab a sieve and deal with it discretely Blush

I had a quick labour, so didn't have much time to think about pain relief, if it had been longer I would have happily taken it, open mind I think is key. She was a bugger to push out though, midwife sat me on the toilet in the end to get the head out, as could bear down better, I then had to waddle back to my beanbag and mat with her head between my legs, it was so bizarre lol

Bellebun22 · 10/03/2022 07:19

Ahahaha that sounds like Mia off teen mum UK- I love it. She said she was going to be a Buddha during labour. I don’t mind being drugged up to the eyes, give me anything ahaha. I am sure my mum had an epidural with both my sister and I and had no problems pushing. Saying that my sisters head got stuck and had to be pushed back in, she came out with a rashy head and for the next 5yrs when she cried the rashes all came back again 🤣😩

She grabbed a sieve 🤣🤣🤣😩 I feel like if we do it and try and hide it or deny it it’ll make it worse, may as well make a song and dance out of it to take the humiliation away I’m loving the stories of quite a few of you ladies having a quick birth, I’m going to believe in manifestation and pray for this 👏🏼 The last bit 🤣 that must have been the weirdest feeling in the world ahaha
Bellebun22 · 10/03/2022 07:28

Ahaha she sounds like a great midwife bless her. So a few weeks ago I was in the salon getting my nails done and there was this BLOODY WOMAN. She was a midwife who preceded to tell me a few times I was fine to drink wine after 15 weeks which annoyed me. When I said we wanted to find out the gender she said ‘you can’t choose what you’re given’ which flew me off the handle and she made a few comments about other things that you wouldn’t say if you had such views..! Victim blaming women etc. I swear if I have this woman as my midwife I’m going to have a breakdown and have to demand another. Wouldn’t usually be like that but the fact I could have her really stressed me out 🤣🤣

Bellebun22 · 10/03/2022 07:31

I don’t think anything can stay inside of you when you’re pushing that hard 🤣😩 may as well a full bladder. The water probably made you want to pee as well. My nan used to have this water feature in the living room, only a miniature thing, my grandad used to get really angry as it made him want to pee all the time
Amazing you had a home birth ♥️ Well done you! If I had one I think my partner would have a breakdown. Do you get gas and air at home?

Peauela · 10/03/2022 08:02

@madeleine85 Haha I get the fear but I don't think they would just let it sit there, I think they would get rid of it 😂 they are very used to women pooping during labour.

@Bellebun22 omg now pooping at my baby's head IS THE ACTUAL NIGHTMARE 😂

I'm absolutely set on getting an epidural but also scared shitless something may go wrong 😅 so we'll see how it goes I guess !

@Peauela loving the pun!! I just keep thinking to myself, hundreds/thousands of women give birth round the world everyday, we have one of the best medical care systems in the world. Some women have no pain killers, no hospitals etc. doesn’t take away the pain still but tries to get us in the head space that we’re in the best place possible, we’re strong independent ladies and can do this 💪🏼

Belle2210 · 10/03/2022 09:14

😂 😂 😂 Catching up gave me a good laugh this morning 🤣. Don't particularly care too much if I poo in labour... S**t happens (pun intended) 😂. My fear is baby getting stuck and forceps 🙈. First baby so I've no idea how things will go.

Had my 12 week scan yesterday to find out I'm even further along than my early scan at 14w + 1. Weird thing is LMP puts me at 13 weeks today. Anyone else over a week ahead from what they expected?

Peauela · 10/03/2022 09:21

@Bellebun22 well the pun was not intended but now I'm laughing 😂😂😂😂😂

I agree! Women are so strong. This is our first but I'm not too scared about labour for now, I try to focus on enjoying the pregnancy for now! 😊

ShiningStarz · 10/03/2022 09:24

@Belle2210 my measure due dates were different with private and nhs scans. It'll only really be accurate near the end ... when it's all real !!
C section for me, so hopefully no popping!

My early scan was also ahead and now and extra 2 days added from my 12 week. Shall see what happens 😊.

Bellebun22 · 10/03/2022 09:48

@Peauela yes defo enjoy your pregnancy, this is what most people are saying! That is positive, this is our first as well, that’s why we have nothing to be petrified for haha. If we expect the absolute worst then anything must be better! Expect the worst, hope for the best and think about all the wine and baked Camembert we can have afterwards

Yeah they had gas and air but I gave it back after one go as I felt alright and didn't want it as it made me feel dizzy! I am really hoping for another one. Nothing like getting in your own bed for that amazing sleep.
stimpyyouidiot · 10/03/2022 10:12

I always told myself to believe in my body. It was made to do it and i felt confident that I could labour fine. I did loads of reading etc and I knew the risks of medical intervention if going in to hospital.

It was a really long labour but it worked well because I had no tears or anything as she'd come so slowly.

TotoAnnihiliation · 10/03/2022 10:35

I had my 12 week scan this morning. Baby was asleep facing my spine. I had to do some jumping and wriggling to wake baby up so the sonographer could get an accurate measurement. It felt strange waking the baby up and I did feel a bit guilty.

The scan has brought a huge relief to me and makes up for the horrible never ending nausea!
