@Carebear99

I have been panicking all afternoon as I found some blood. I think I've got thrush as the itchy burning pain down below is quite bad. I called the GP who refused to give me thrush treatment on prescription saying it's nhs Policy not to! I've had no bleeding before and I've got the 12w scan tomorrow. I think the bleeding is from the thrush, I'm going to go to the pharmacy tomorrow and get something but I would rather not take anything as I can see most thrush medications say not to be used in pregnancy
What an awful GP! Thrush is super common in pregnancy, something to do with the hormones upsetting the pH down there which allows overgrowth of yeast. Have a look at the NICE prescribing guidelines for reassurance but during pregnancy you can use the clotrimazole pessary and cream with no problems, you might have to do a double course of treatment as it can be tricky to clear. It's just the normal canestan tablets you definitely can't have as fluconazole can cause birth defects.
mol2mum · 25/02/2022 09:34

@Carebear99 I'm 11 weeks pregnant and have had thrush twice already🤦🏼‍♀️ I was on antibiotics when I was 4 weeks and that's when I first got thrush. The doctors that I was with at the time were so dismissive and rude and just told me to go to the pharmacy to get some cream because "you don't even know for sure that you're pregnant yet". So I spoke to the pharmacist and they advised for me to get the 1% clotrimazole cream. I thought it had worked but then a week or so later it was back worse than before. I had changed doctors in the meantime due to the horrible experience I had and the new doctors were really good and got me in for a swab straight away. The results did come back as thrush and I was prescribed with 2% canesten pressary (tablet to insert into the vagina) and cream and thankfully it's fully cleared up now! So you're safe to get the Canesten duo as long as it's the Clotrimazole oneSmile

@Carebear99 how did the scan go?

monkeyjocks · 25/02/2022 12:45

Hi everyone, I finally had the courage to go to the gp and get signed off work for a couple because of how bad my nausea an sickness is. Then, my first day at home I test positive for covid. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I feel like I've been hit by a bus, in bed all day just feeling sorry for myself. Sad My scan was supposed to be on Tuesday and now I had to postpone it by a week. Don't know how to cheer myself up, just feeling like a sad mess right now.

IzzyLeigh · 25/02/2022 13:06

@Carebear99 I hope this gets sorted and you start to feel better asap

@monkeyjocks, I'm so sorry you're dealing with covid on top of everything else right now! Glad you got signed off work! You must be really disappointed about having to delay the scan. On the bright side, think about how much more you'll be able to see with an extra week of growth!

and thank you guys for the feedback on when to get the NIPT! It's just so hard because I have my NT scan at 12 weeks and I've heard that it can sometimes give false scares that something could be wrong when things are actually fine. My rationale is that if I have
NIPT results back before the scan (and if those results are positive), that it will set my mind a bit more at ease if the scan shows a possible issue.

So I'm hoping to have those NIPT results before the scan. Buuuuuttt if the results can take a week here, the timing is tricky. I'm thinking maybe I go for the NIPT on 10+5 and then hopefully have the results on 11+5? What do you guys think? Am I overthinking this too much?

Hi everyone, scan went well. I ended up having the combined test to test for papp-a but having had the nipt I don't need the results for genetic issues.

Everyone on here is so lovely and supportive. Due date now 9 Sept

IzzyLeigh · 25/02/2022 13:42

@Carebear99 so glad the scan went well! Cake

Scan went well. Have moved forward to 5th September now! Now to tell everyone :)

IzzyLeigh · 25/02/2022 15:38

congrats @stimpyyouidiot! I know I'm a long ways behind you and a lot of others in here (I'm 9+6 today), but the fact that some of us are now getting to the safer-to-announce-to-everyone stage is just so so exciting and gives me a lot of hope that it's not quite as far away for me too! definitely a big milestone. Congrats again!

Does anyone have any signs of a bump yet? I'm overweight so my bump is just fat atm lol. With my DD I was thin and even at 24w just had a little pot belly, no bump lol always prodding to see if it's gone hard yet. Sometimes I think it has and other times it's just flabby haha

Carebear99 · 25/02/2022 16:14

Hi @Dreamer30 I can't tell if I have a bump as I'm also overweight. I have lost 8kg since early January.

hayleynk27 · 25/02/2022 16:19

Had my first scan on Wednesday, had a call today to say I'm deemed high risk for pre-eclampsia and fetal growth restriction. So I had to go to the hospital today to collect my prescription of aspirin I have to take daily until 36 weeks.
I am 13 weeks tomorrow, my first baby, 32 and am normally really healthy. Just abit of a scare, however so grateful blood tests come back with no issues with the combined screening. Also grateful they are on top of it so early as precaution.
X

GlitteryGreen · 25/02/2022 16:20

Ah lovely to see all these scans going well here :) Mine still isn't until the week after next so a while to go. These have been a long three months.

Bumpwise, I've been taking pics in the same leggings each week just to see if there's anything changing but it's minimal and nothing anyone would notice at all. But I am a size 14 anyway so think it will be a while before a bump would be noticeable as pregnancy on me.

TotoAnnihiliation · 25/02/2022 16:29

@Dreamer30 I have a bump at 10 weeks! I'm overweight, but have lost weight since becoming pregnant- my fat has changed shape and is more like a pregnancy bump.

Dreamer30 · 25/02/2022 16:30

@Carebear99

Hi *@Dreamer30* I can't tell if I have a bump as I'm also overweight. I have lost 8kg since early January.
I wish! I was so nauseous and not really having much to eat and thought I'd have lost something but I stayed the same lol. Might have a bump at 30w 😅
PrettyTulip · 25/02/2022 16:34

@hayleynk27 same! My midwife sorted the recurring prescription for aspirin with my Dr so it's ready for when I'm 12 weeks through to 36.
I already suffer high blood pressure issues though (medicated) and I'm overweight with high BMI so I'm glad they've taken precaution early too

madeleine85 · 25/02/2022 16:40

@Dreamer30 that’s me too. But I think it’s becoming more bump like. I didn’t have one till 20+ weeks last time but I’m 13.5 and it’s coming (under it’s flubber)

Dreamer30 · 25/02/2022 17:20

@TotoAnnihilation aw that's lovely 😊 mine has changed shape too but it's definitely not a bump lol just more bloat I think haha!
@madeleine85 it must be nice to feel it so early having to wait so late the last time, that's what I'm hoping for. I'm 11w and they say it's still under your public bone until 12 so maybe I'm just one of those lol

TotoAnnihiliation · 25/02/2022 17:27

I think your body shape determines when your bump appears. I'm short with no torso. Literally, I'm boobs and belly 🤣 my bump has no place to go other than outwards.

stimpyyouidiot · 25/02/2022 17:41

I'm still just looking fat but starting to look a bit bigger at the front. Been trying to eat healthily all week.

Isonthecase · 25/02/2022 18:08

@hayleynk27 is that because of your papp-a results? I was googling because mine are low and I've been booked in for the consultant in a couple of weeks but no idea what it all means!!

hayleynk27 · 25/02/2022 18:16

It come back after my first scan, so where I had bloods and blood pressure done.
She explained it all on the phone they calculate it from the different results.
It's all a precaution thing, it's not to say I will get pre eclampsia.
I didn't have to have an appointment with consultant or anything, just explained it all over the phone. Said baby is all fine etc and to go collect my prescription. So I have a 12 weeks supply and at my 20 week scan I will get another prescription. It's only a prescription I can get at the hospital as it's the white form one. X

Sorry not sure on if it's a Papp-a test... I get so lost with everything they do! But it was at my 12 week scan.. so maybe!Hmm

ShiningStarz · 25/02/2022 20:07

@Carebear99 I was thinking of you early this morning. Iv been flat out I didn't get a chance to check these messages until now. So happy for you that the scan went well 😊

@stimpyyouidiot congrats!! Telling everyone is just so exciting!!

Yep @Dreamer30i woke up last Sunday (11 weeks) with a huge bump!! I was convinced it was constipation but nope the bump is here and is proper round!! Struggling to hide it and iv another few days before my 12 week scan! Baggy jumper weekend for me! Thank god it's freezing!

@hayleynk27 don't worry too much, they put you in all these brackets of 'high risk' and then half of it never happens! Good they will keep a close eye on you. Read up on signs of pre eclampsia so your clued up. My friend had it in pregnancy so I heard all about it!

I bought some palmers cocoa butter today and i lathered it over my bump tonight just after a bath.. total bliss! I don't have stretch marks from 1st pregnancy but I already have a bump at 11 weeks so I'm being safe lol

ShiningStarz · 25/02/2022 20:08

I'm trying not to think too much about the NIPT results but it's so hard. I know from tracking the parcel it arrived at the laboratory on Thursday early morning! I'll start badgering my clinic from next Wed 🤞
