I love Reid too!

Rolledthedice · 03/03/2022 13:51

@Vimto1991 this sounds similar to some of the soreness I’ve been getting around my belly. I called the midwife line last night and she said it’s likely musculoskeletal round ligament pain / stretching from growing belly. She said to call them back if it’s always in the same place and constant.

I did a silly movement Monday night (blew my nose with legs in the air due to lumpy varicose vein 😅). So I think that’s set it off. Try to distract yourself if you can (yesterday I was hyper vigilant which didn’t help!) and run a nice bath, find ways to relax the muscles. I hope it settles down for you. x

Rolledthedice · 03/03/2022 13:53

@MrsM29 another vote for Reid! Lovely name. :) Also love the name Lyra - was that inspired by His Dark Materials?

Vimto1991 · 03/03/2022 14:05

@Rolledthedice thank you for the advice! I tend to find sitting down that it goes away, it just flares up whilst walking which makes me think the bigger I get the less mobile I’ll be 🙈 hope yours isn’t causing too much grief! Sneezing and rolling over (and coughing… and laughing), also seem to aggravate mine, too. Just seems to be the right side is worse than the left!

Rolledthedice · 03/03/2022 14:14

@Vimto1991 yes the right side seems to be more prone to round ligament pain, not sure why! I’ve also been researching maternity belts but so far the only one I found that’s aimed at supporting during sports (which is my aim), is one from the US. I’ve emailed my physio to ask about belts so will post here when she gets back to me!

It’s a shame walking is setting yours off, but after a couple days of rest I hope the ligament relaxes. Taking a nice bath last night definitely helped me. I find sitting too long makes my belly feel a bit sore.

Vimto1991 · 03/03/2022 14:35

@Rolledthedice we only have a shower, might get myself a flexitub 😂

Prema112 · 03/03/2022 15:42

Gosh, I've just been swimming and got fairly intense sharp pain low on my bump, had to stop! Assuming it's round ligament pain too

Flowerbug1994 · 03/03/2022 16:29

Am thinking maybe I’ve been getting round ligament pain to I feel like a weighted stretching feeling right along the bottom of my stomach when am walking sometimes not all the time it feels heavy and really sore but not painful to touch.
Anyone know any good soaks for the bath as radox muscle soak is my usual go to but I know we can’t use it because sage can bring on early labour

Rolledthedice · 03/03/2022 16:36

@Vimto1991 lol I just looked up what a flexitub is 😂

@Flowerbug1994 and @Prema112 sorry to hear you’re both experiencing round ligament pain too! My go to bath relaxation is still 2 cups of Epsom salts and a Calm app meditation or reading a book.

RoseValleyRambles · 03/03/2022 16:44

My round ligament pain seems to come in 3-4 day bursts, and then mysteriously go. It's also worse in the right, weirdly. I'm assuming it's associated with growth spurts. Can't tell if gentle exercise (walking) has helped get rid of it, or if it's just been a coincidence, but it seemed to help last time.

Prema112 · 03/03/2022 17:43

@RoseValleyRambles Interesting, swimming seems to bring it on for me, but I really want to keep going, it's so nice to feel weightless for a while!

RoseValleyRambles · 03/03/2022 19:42

@prema112 I've been really tempted to try a swim - got myself a bump-friendly cosi and everything, just haven't got in the water yet...

BunBun221 · 03/03/2022 20:37

Pleased to report I had my first proper kick today! It was a good old jab which basically made the whole left side of my body jolt! And THEN about an hour later I felt like I'd just done a sheer drop on a rollercoaster 3 times in a row! Seems my little man decided today is the day!

Prema112 · 03/03/2022 21:18

@RoseValleyRambles Go for it!! It feels great to get the weight off your feet

@BunBun221 Yey! It's the best feeling is it!!

PleaseSendNoodles · 04/03/2022 00:56

@Prema112 and @RoseValleyRambles the only thing I’ve found with swimming is my belly feels weird in the water… like… oddly stretched. It’s so hard to describe but I don’t like it haha. But I’m going to stick with it because it’s relaxing and knackers me out in a good way. Sorry you’re getting pain, Prema. Hopefully was a one off?!

Awww yay, @BunBun221 enjoy all the kicks! 😍

Has anyone had the O'Sullivan test yet? I am going through private care and got it done this week (am 25+4 today). I don't have an appointment with the doctor until Tuesday but received the results online yesterday. Looking through the Internet it seems like I may have high enough values to suspect GD. Has anyone gone through it? What are the next steps? I have been googling and, at first got scared of the risks and complications attached to GD but it seems that if detected early and monitored these can be substantially reduced... anyhow any experiences or knowledge on the topic will be greatly appreciated

MrsTwentyNine · 04/03/2022 07:21

25 week appt today! What do I expect? Will they measure bump or is that too early ?

Not had this but also worried I will have GD! I was told I'll have an OGTT at 28 weeks. May ask midwife today.

@BunBun221 such a lovely feeling isn't it ❤️ how many weeks are you?

Flowerbug1994 · 04/03/2022 08:03

@MrsTwentyNine it’s similar to 16 weeks. Take urine sample with you they check that measure your bump and listen to babies heartbeat. In my area it’s the first time they listen to babies heartbeat so it was lovely.

MrsTwentyNine · 04/03/2022 08:05

Thank you @Flowerbug1994 ! They didn't check my bump at 16 weeks so hoping that it all goes ok. I'm guessing they can tell what centile baby falls under with the measurement ?

Flowerbug1994 · 04/03/2022 08:08

@MrsTwentyNine yes this is when they start measuring bump. Mine didn’t actually get measured because am already booked in for growth scans as he was measuring bug at 20 week scan so she said she usually would but no point complicating things when am already getting scanned at 30 weeks. I think they get a rough idea of how big baby is off the measurement but I have heard it’s not very reliable. They have a good feel of were baby is aswell.

Vimto1991 · 04/03/2022 08:12

They told me every week should be a cm (or mm) I can’t remember. I was a day off 26 and measured 27 which is normal. That’s the only measurement my midwife did. Then took 15 minutes to get a heart beat as baby moved too much and kept kicking midwife away. And yes, urine sample is needed, these guys love piss. 😂

ChildOfFriday · 04/03/2022 08:21

I had a midwife appointment last week at 24 weeks and she didn't measure my bump- she said they start doing that at the next appointment at 28 weeks. It may differ by area or be because it was at 24 rather than 25 weeks.

PurpleMoon12 · 04/03/2022 08:23

@MrsTwentyNine they tested my wee, did my blood pressure and listened to the heartbeat. Mine don't actually start measuring the bump until the 28 week appointment

Turniptracker · 04/03/2022 08:45

Went to midwife at 25 weeks and was told my bump wouldn't be measured until 28 weeks
