@PeeAche that is an awful experience. I think you should make a complaint. Having the scan fail twice and getting carpet burns from the wand is shocking.

Rolledthedice · 22/02/2022 20:09

@PeeAche that is absolutely awful treatment!! I agree with the others, you should definitely lodge a formal complaint! I’m glad your little one is safe and well after such a dreadful scan experience. x

RoseValleyRambles · 22/02/2022 20:35

@peeache I agree: that's awful and isn't ok. I'm sorry you had such a beast of a sonographer.

PeeAche · 23/02/2022 07:31

I feel so fed up. I'm considering not going to any more appointments unless they're totally medically necessary. They just don't treat me like a person. 😢

Jammymare · 23/02/2022 08:06

@PeeAche I think you need to submit a formal complaint to PALS and I’d be sending it to my MP too. You don’t have to accept sun-standard care.

I managed to slip and fall down the stairs on my 2am trip to the loo this morning (redoing the bathroom upstairs so having to trek to the downstairs loo). Luckily landed on my considerably well padded arse, but still stiff and sore this morning. Fortunately I have a midwife appt this afternoon anyway, although baby is kicking away so think all will be fine. Am thoroughly fed up of being pregnant now though. I think the irrational rage phase is about to start…

InvisibleDragon · 23/02/2022 09:25

Anyone else's baby showing massively different levels of activity on different days? Mine was kicking loads on Friday and Monday but much less (although still moving) the days in between. It's really stressful!

Also, have the headache of doom today after sitting in an uncomfortable chair in a hideously stuffy seminar room all day yesterday for training. Have 2 days left of this. Sigh.

Vimto1991 · 23/02/2022 09:42

@Jammymare
I’m 42 minutes into my shift and definitley experiencing irrational rage at everyone already. 😂

Prema112 · 23/02/2022 10:05

@InvisibleDragon Ergh- yes! Baby was so active yesterday then less in the eve and hardly anything this morning, it's really hard to know what to do. I just keep monitoring but I wish he would be more constant! 26 weeks today so still got 2 weeks before I'm meant to actually start counting...

MrsTwentyNine · 23/02/2022 10:05

Mine!! Some days it's like he is relaxing the whole day but others he is active the whole day!! How far along are you? I'm 24 weeks today
Vimto1991 · 23/02/2022 10:33

I’m 25 weeks today, I’ve noticed when I am tossing and turning in the night baby is a complete night owl. They are much more active between 10am and 8am then through the day. This morning I’ve only felt a bit, but last night at 2am they were hammering away at my side! If you guys sleep through the night maybe baby is more active as you sleep some days, then on other days where you notice more active in the day?
I’ve not really established a pattern either. I’m not sure how! My friend said there used to be an app used in this trust but they just ask you to keep an eye out. How? Pen and paper? 😂

InvisibleDragon · 23/02/2022 10:36

@MrsTwentyNine @Prema112 thanks for the reassurance that it's not just me! I'll be 24 weeks on Friday, so still some time before I need to start tracking, but it's still scary having a very active day and then much less the next few!

GrowBabyGrow · 23/02/2022 10:40

My midwife mentioned the kicks count app but its a bit of a faff because you can't add in retrospective movement, you have to start and stop a period of movement in the app! Not very well designed.

I read somewhere that while they are establishing their pattern at this stage you could monitor the morning pattern for one week, then the afternoon and then the evening. and then in the last week see if it is following the pattern. I might alternate so one day I focus on morning, the next afternoon and then evening and cycle it round.

There's bracelets you can get where you move it round each time they move as well.

I've found she's not got solid chunks of movement yet. There's periods when she is kicky and squiggly for about 10 minutes but other times it's random kicks and pops.

Rolledthedice · 23/02/2022 10:59

@InvisibleDragon yes! So glad I’m not the only one with intermittent baby movement! Yesterday she was really quiet, especially at night, which I find really disconcerting as she is usually wide away at that time. My resting heart rate has also dropped back down over last few days so I can’t help but feel paranoid. I hope she’s a bit more active today! I have anterior placenta so that probably isn’t helping. I’m 24+2 today.

Prema112 · 23/02/2022 11:25

@InvisibleDragon I've had some cake and he's kicking a bit now, phew. Every time he's quiet I eat sugar to get him moving, he's gonna be a sugar addict from birth!!

DaimDillyDoo · 23/02/2022 11:40

@PeeAche just echoing what everyone else has said and sending you some hugs across. People who lack basic care, compassion and empathy for others should not be in those, or any, sort of public facing role. She sounds like a witch.

DaimDillyDoo · 23/02/2022 11:42

@Prema112 I do that too! 🤣 I purposely drank a can of full fat coke before my private scan to get her moving!

Does anyone know if there's somewhere you can buy a Moses basket stand today? Ours has come and I'm itching to get it up to see what it looks like but I didn't purchase the stand with this particular basket (they were charging a fortune and it said a universal one would fit)

BunBun221 · 23/02/2022 12:51

@peeache I'm so sorry you've had such a shit experience :( I left both our 12 and 20 week scans in tears for different reasons but fortunately I wasn't in pain. My routine NHS care has been really sketchy, however where I've had to be assessed in an emergency (e.g. high blood pressure and for illness its been prompt and relatively thorough)

As an aside has anyone tried the emmas diary packs yet? I've come to realise that either the app is broken or there isn't actually a limit on the number of packs... picked up my 5th purple pack last night... stocking up on nappies slowly but surely!

Matilda30 · 23/02/2022 12:51

Sorry if this has been mentioned but when are we meant to monitor kicks from as I can't find a definitive answer from google? Thanks

PeeAche · 23/02/2022 14:24

@Matilda30 28 weeks.

Matilda30 · 23/02/2022 14:26

Thank you @PeeAche

czycoup · 23/02/2022 14:50

Hi, thanks for tagging me @Annabell1

Our baby was born sleeping a few weeks back so I don't need to be tagged any more.

I wish you all the very best for the rest of your pregnancies.
