@madeleine85 Not a fan of Hamish? I like Hamish.

PopGoesBang · 08/02/2022 18:43

I'm so impressed you have names already! Dp and I keep suggesting names we'd never use, but haven't actually even thought seriously about names.
Just been on my app that the midwifes use and can see my 20 week scan date, my glucose test date and all my growth scans on there. Basically from May I'll be having monthly scans right up to the 5th Aug, 2 days before baby is due!
Luckily we've agreed to find out gender at 20 week scan, cos by almost 40 weeks I'm pretty sure even i would be able to see what was what.

Cakecakecheese · 08/02/2022 18:51

I've already got names, if it's a boy my partner wants to name him after his grandfather which I'm happy with and there's only one girl's name I like so that's sorted!

madeleine85 · 08/02/2022 19:04

@Cakecakecheese I like that but for some reason hamish is now a really popular dog name with my home friends 🤦‍♀️. No winning is there!

BunnieMilk · 08/02/2022 19:10

I haven't thought of names yet. With having two babies I'm trying to pick 2 boy and 2 girl. I have one boys name so far and that's it haha

Isonthecase · 08/02/2022 19:57

I think if I was going for a Scottish boys name I'd go Fergus or Bruce. Unfortunately we're not Scottish and my husband doesn't like either as we REALLY struggled with boys names before so sods law we'll get another one 😂

mamaof2girls · 08/02/2022 20:09

Aww I have no many names I like but wouldn't name my child and with having 2 girls already I am finding this one hard to even think off names but makes it harder is we have decided to definitely not find out the gender 🙈🙈 x

BunnieMilk · 08/02/2022 20:10

@mamaof2girls I think it's more of a suprise to not find out and then once baby is born you can say 'okay that's my (babies name) '

Glago2017 · 08/02/2022 20:11

@madeleine85 what about a name after the Scottish Islands- Arran, Lewis, Harris? X

mamaof2girls · 08/02/2022 20:34

@BunnieMilk yeah defo we ain't ever waited till the end to find out the gender aswell and since this may be our last time we wanted to do it abit different. My partner is also worried he would be gutted and upset if it was another girl were as in that moment off a new baby he won't have a chance to have they feelings! X

madeleine85 · 08/02/2022 23:19

Thanks guys, love the suggestions! I think I am just really indecisive. With my DD, after years of "are you ready for marriage/do you ever want children in your future" conversations with my husband we accidentally got pregnant, and straight off the bat he was like "can we call her Paige" which blew my mind at the time. You don't know if you want children, but you have a name?! But it worked, and now I am realising that it took the pressure off me to be inventive. Looking back, I had 10 hamsters as a child, all called Bob. I think I am just not good at this! Not helped that my husband has used his name, and neither of us have a boy's one. I do like Arran though @Glago2017. I know a Lewis who is a bit of a kn*b and again pet called Harris, but also want a scruffy dog called Haggis one day and that is close too. Of course I have a dog name but not child name!

squatternutbosh12 · 08/02/2022 23:54

@madeleine85 ‘I had 10 hamsters as a child, all called Bob’
That really made me chuckle Grin

Re Scottish names, I really like Hector, Ross, Alasdair/Alastair. Callum is also nice and means dove which is sweet.

Will suggest to all one of my favourite boy’s names- Colin. It’s off the table for us… Our surname is Collins. 😂

Isonthecase · 09/02/2022 08:04

Colin Collins, it's PERFECT 😂

koalalala · 09/02/2022 08:06

Hi,

Please can I join? Due August 29th. Should be 11 weeks 3 days but had a private scan and was measuring 4/5 days behind so I'm expecting that to be more like 10 weeks 4 days when I have the dating scan.

Starting to feel real now that I have my booking in appointment this morning! Eager / anxious to find out about my 12 week scan to check all is okay again.

This is my second pregnancy and my eldest is 2.

Slightly worried as area of bleeding was seen in my uterus on the scan. Although they said don't worry I obviously have! It's not in the pregnancy sac, rather just below it but they said the sac was complete. My concern is that I had an EPU scan at 8 weeks due to bleeding and it wasn't there so it's new. Hoping the midwife can put me at ease today. Has anyone else experienced this?

Cakecakecheese · 09/02/2022 09:48

Omg Colin Collins. I love it Grin

I knew someone who was named Hugh Hughes. He went by his middle name instead!

Mufflette · 09/02/2022 11:39

So nice to see lots of new people joining!

I've been a bit quiet while being a total nervous wreck ahead of my dating scan, but had it this morning and all looks good so I tentatively feel able to get a bit excited now! Waiting for full screening results but NT was fine so I'm less worried. Due date now 19th August.

beckybloomwood11 · 09/02/2022 11:44

That's great news @Mufflette ! I have mine later this afternoon and am so nervous. Keeping my fingers crossed it goes well and everything is okay!

Mufflette · 09/02/2022 11:52

Thanks @beckybloomwood11 - will be thinking of you this afternoon, hope you're feeling as relieved as me in a few hours time!

Littlebutload · 09/02/2022 12:37

Hi all, just got the results of my NIPT test and it's all low risk thankfully! I wasn't sure about getting the test (privately) but now I'm glad we did for the peace of mind! Have my 12 week scan tomorrow but hopefully that's okay as had a scan last week with the NIPT. Found out we are having a little girl, so that will be nice as we have a little boy already ❤️

Congratulations!! What lovely news and exciting your having a little girl!
KCat82 · 09/02/2022 13:26

@madeleine85 did you have 10 hamsters named Bob all in one go, or when Bob #1 moved onto pastures new, did you names his replacement Bob #2 etc???

Off for my 12 week scan this afternoon and feeling rather nervous but excited too. I think I'm 12 weeks exactly so will be good to hear what the official due date is.

Gem2811 · 09/02/2022 13:29

Loving hearing everyone's happy news 😊

Is anyone else still waiting for this rush of energy that was promised at 13 weeks 🤣

squatternutbosh12 · 09/02/2022 13:55

@Gem2811 yep- 13+5 here and feeling more fatigue than ever Sad honestly feel too tired to function today. I just want to sleep (but am having insomnia when it’s actually time to sleep Hmm )
I think the nausea is starting to improve slowly (phew) but the fatigue is definitely getting worse at the moment. 😱 let’s hope we have a burst of energy soon eh?!

ToCaden · 09/02/2022 14:11

Ooo... Lots of 12 week scans happening. This is exciting.

I've got a definite girl's name which I love and a mostly definite boy's name.

@madeleine85 funny you say that. I've known a few scottie dogs all called Hamish. It does seem very popular. I'm sure you'll choose one even if you have to dive into a few Internet rabbit holes to find one that resonates. You've got time.

@gem2811 I'm 13 weeks or 13 + 4 depending on whether using ivf dates or dating scan. I was so excited for the burst of energy. I think I thought it was going to magically hit at 12 weeks or so.

Instead I've been tired to the point of getting all weak and dizzy. Think nausea might be getting better, but exhaustion is probably worse than it has ever been. Even sitting in my office chair is tiring me out.

Bad timing too as just started training for a new role this week and my brain is just not cooperating.

Gem2811 · 09/02/2022 14:18

@squatternutbosh12 @ToCaden it's brutal isn't it I ended up finishing early at work yesterday and going for a nap 😂
Noticed an improvement in the sickness just a bit of nasuea when I'm hungry which is a plus!
