@Unknown6

I'm having a baby girl! Had 20 week scan yesterday, everything looks OK from scan but I have to go back in 2 weeks so they can get the heart measurements as everytime they tried to get a picture ahe turned her bum to the camera and refused to move , what they could see though they said looked normal. I do have a low lying placenta, but I have another scan today anyway to check cervix length due to a small procedure I had in 2017.
And massive congratulations on your baby girl 🥰🥰🥰 x
Celyn22 · 17/03/2022 09:14

@Unknown6 congratulations on having a girl! Aww it must be amazing to know now. On my 12 week scan my baba was too small for some measurements so I went back 3 days later and I was so grateful to be able to see him/her again so soon! Waiting on my 20 week scan on 6th April!

I trust that your scan today will go well and your little girl may move her bum out the way today! ;) maybe she’s telling you she’ll be a dancer?

CoalCraft · 17/03/2022 09:52

@SantiagoSister Good luck for today, will be thinking about you xx

@Unknown6 Congratulations!

ToCaden · 17/03/2022 09:57

Good luck to those having scans. Hope your babies cooperate.

I'm beginning to understand why people take early maternity leave. I either want to sleep or get the house more sorted before baby. One room almost done, but another two I'd like to have sorted before baby. I can't stop thinking about DIY and have no interest left for work. It's like the nesting stage has started early.

Beth262 · 17/03/2022 10:10

@SantiagoSister Hope all goes well at the scan today. Will be thinking of you.

Congratulations on the baby girl @Unknown6!

@ToCaden Yes, with you on the no work just DIY mind frame. Though I want to do the entire house given we've just moved in! I fear that may be too ambitious 😆 I have 20 weeks at best, or 11 at worst if this peanut follows my DS and comes early!

@SantiagoSister, I'm thinking of you, but I know it will go well for you this time xxxx

@Celyn22, my scan today went well, baby was still twerking away so she hadn't moved today! I'll just wait another 2 weeks she will be a bit bigger then so less room to hide lol

Unknown6 · 17/03/2022 10:50

@ToCaden, in a way I have been lucky as I decorated most rooms during lockdown.

My home office though is probably going to be the nursery, so I'm not sure if I should start this room before I finish work or wait until mat leave....

Celyn22 · 17/03/2022 10:53

@Unknown6 aww sorry you couldn’t get what you needed, but i’m happy for you to see your baba again! I think if I had the sonographer’s machine, I’d be scanning myself every day!

Unknown6 · 17/03/2022 10:59

@Celyn22, one of the ladies who helped with my care earlier this week was also pregnant, she said she keeps having to restrain herself for asking for a scan as it's so close and tempting lol

SantiagoSister · 17/03/2022 14:59

Thank you all so much for your good luck wishes for today, I really appreciate it. I was so nervous. I am so, so pleased to be able to say my scan went well today, they are happy with how things are looking at this stage and we couldn’t be happier. What a relief. I blubbed as soon as the consultant said things are looking ok this time, I couldn’t hold it back after being brave all morning! They will be keeping a close eye on us to make sure we stay on track this time, back for another scan in a month. Just so relieved and grateful. We also have a little boy growing away in there, just magical 💙

Unknown6 · 17/03/2022 15:14

@SantiagoSister, I so happy to hear your news, I have been checking for your response on and off!
Great news that its going well this time, its such a relief getting 20 week scan out of the way isn't it!

And congratulations on your little boy! Have you already got names in mind? X

Beth262 · 17/03/2022 15:27

squatternutbosh12 · 17/03/2022 15:51

@SantiagoSister yay congratulations - fab news 😊

ToCaden · 17/03/2022 16:04

@santiagosister yay. Congrats.

SantiagoSister · 17/03/2022 16:46

Thank you all so much ❤️ Such a relief to get through this hurdle 🙏🏼

@Unknown6 no idea on names at the moment, I was too scared to think about it properly before today! We will have to get a list started soon 🥰💙 how about you?

Unknown6 · 17/03/2022 17:12

@SantiagoSister, I have had 2 girls names in my head for a while. So I know I'll pick from one of them :)
The relief feeling is immense isn't it! My aim for the rest of this week is to stay away from hospital as have been there everyday this week ...

SantiagoSister · 17/03/2022 18:57

@Unknown6 that’s lovely, nice you have the choice of two to pick from 🥰 ah yes definitely, the relief is unreal. Hopefully you can have a break from your hospital visits now too!

Beth262 · 19/03/2022 06:55

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing ok.

I'm really struggling with hip pain this time round particularly at night and it's severely affecting my sleep! The only comfortable position is completely on my back which isn't tenable now I'm almost 20 weeks. Does anyone have any recommendations for positions/pillows/anything that might help? Until now I've been side sleeping with a long pillow but even thats reached the painful stage and I (sort of) slept sitting up last night!

CoalCraft · 19/03/2022 08:11

@Beth262 The only thing I've found helps with the sore hips while lying on my side is to keep my knees apart, so basically to wedge two pillows between them or, if the weather's not too warm, to snuggle up to dh with one leg around him (in a totally pragmatic, not at all romantic way!)

Beth262 · 19/03/2022 08:41

@CoalCraft Thanks, my long pillow is loosing it's 'fluff' so will try adding another pillow tonight and see if that works and failing that, will try your leg hook trick!

How are you feeling?

OP posts:
Unknown6 · 19/03/2022 08:59

@Beth262, you can buy knee pillows they are about £12 on amazon they help with the alignment of your hips/ legs. I use one when I'm not pregnant and now use it to help with cramps in legs.

Beth262 · 19/03/2022 09:54

Thanks @Unknown6 I'll take a look at them today.

SantiagoSister · 19/03/2022 10:09

@Beth262 I suffered with this badly last time too, same as @CoalCraft I found sleeping on my side with a normal pillow between my knees really helped. I’ve also read about laying a spare duvet on the mattress as extra padding, and that also seemed to help people too. Hope you manage to find something that works for you as it’s no fun!

SantiagoSister · 19/03/2022 10:10

I should add the pillow I had between my knees was a firm memory foam one, not sure if that matters but it definitely helped me 😊
