@Unknown6 good luck with your scan today!!!

miltonj · 16/03/2022 10:52

Haven't checked in in a while but feeling really rough today! I'm 19+2 and am feeling quite dizzy and have thrown up. I haven't thrown up in weeks so a bit strange. I'm a bit worried.... but nothing I've seen online seems alarming.
I did have anaemia when pregnant with my daughter so could be that again but feels a bit different.

Gem2811 · 16/03/2022 13:40

@miltonj make sure you are drinking enough and aren't too warm and you aren't trying to do too much as well I've gotten like this a couple of times and it's usually my bodies way of saying slow down

madeleine85 · 16/03/2022 14:21

@mamaof2girls I hit 16 weeks yesterday and like clockwork the kicks started. And didn’t stop. All day and all night, from the occasional flutter feeling. So bizarre, yet quite reassuring. I hate the not feeling pregnant stage too. Have you felt anything? Asking as your name implies you have two already so might get some early feelings.

ToCaden · 16/03/2022 14:27

@miltonj Gem is spot on. We've got fifty percent extra blood rushing around than what we're used to and when we need nutrients or rest we need it now. We're perhaps a little less robust than we're used to.

I think of these episodes as the body having a tantrum and try to get some fluids and protein in me which helps.

mamaof2girls · 16/03/2022 14:28

@madeleine85 yeah I have felt like every so often wee bubble effect etc but nothing frequently and stuff with my girls though am sure I was like 20 weeks before I actually felt anything. But I had my 16 week appointment today and got to hear the little ones heartbeat for the first time so that was reassuring I have my 20 week scan the 7th off April so hopefully it goes in fast! X

Shelly1812 · 16/03/2022 14:53

My 20 isn't until 11th April, seems so far away just now! We've booked a private gender scan for Sat 🙈 x

miltonj · 16/03/2022 14:57

Thank you @Gem2811 and @ToCaden makes so much sense. I was rushing around and too warm!

On a separate note, I'm am so upset. Feeling quite distressed. Basically I live in a different country and where I live, every time you need a scan or a test you have to get the family doctor to perscribe you it and then you call the hospital and book it. There's been so many hoops to jump through and this dr was being incredibly difficult saying he wouldn't perscribe me my 20 week scan until we'd emailed him. But when we'd emailed him, he'd asked us to come in. All such a farce and very frustrating. Anyway I won't go into details but he said to me 'you are definitely a woman'. Wtf are you kidding me!!!!! And I don't even know if this prescription will work. I'm so annoyed and feeling hopeless. I'm 19 weeks now and don't want to go over the threshold for the anomaly scan.

ToCaden · 16/03/2022 15:10

@miltonj wow. Just wow... Are you able to make a complaint. The system sounds difficult enough without that doctor making you jump through unnecessary hoops and being rude. You don't need this extra stress right now.

ToCaden · 16/03/2022 15:14

@shelly1812 that's exciting. Saturday is so close. Are you doing a big reveal or just finding out for yourself/ves?

miltonj · 16/03/2022 15:18

I don't even know how to complain here! The doctors here work independently rather than being part of a practice with receptionists and stuff. I'm fuming, I can't calm down!
My husband's rand the hospital and they said to ring back tomorrow and they should be able to book In the 20 week scan so fingers crossed. Was going to have celery soup for tea, but will order pizza instead 😂

Shelly1812 · 16/03/2022 15:20

Such a horrible system :(, i hope you get your 20 week scan soon, i dont think doctors etc realise how much of a stressful time it is!

@ToCaden i dont want to know LOL, i was overruled by my 6yr old! Hubby not fussed but my boy will not let it drop and wants to know. No big reveal, will tell parents etc and in here LOL x

ToCaden · 16/03/2022 15:41

@miltonj yes to pizza. Excellent idea. I think you deserve a bit of a treat after all that.

@shelly1812 hehe. I hope your six year old will be happy with the result. Though if he has a tantrum over having a little sister when he wanted a brother you need to video it to embarrass him with when he's older. Grin

madeleine85 · 16/03/2022 15:46

@mamaof2girls that is so nice you heard the heartbeat. It really is a heartwarming bonding moment :)

@miltonj wow. Firstly you deserve that pizza after that day, and secondly, I cannot believe that a doctor would say something like that. Truly appalling. Hope you can get straight in at the hospital.

Has anyone's bump really popped lately? I'm 18 +4 and starting two days ago I feel like I've got a bowling ball strapped to my front. I don't think my bump is bigger, but it feels more solid and my belly button is flatter.

Before, I was me with a bit of a bump. Now my centre of balance is off and my bump feels heavier.

The next 20 weeks or so are going to be interesting if it already feels this awkward.

Mufflette · 16/03/2022 17:23

@ToCaden yes, me! 17+5 today and I'm having to reassess my wardrobe a lot sooner than expected, have gone from a fluctuating bump to a proper 'I definitely look pregnant' bump. I feel like I'm going to be huge!

SantiagoSister · 16/03/2022 18:14

@ToCaden me too! I’m 19+6 and finally feel like I look pregnant rather than bloated, and I found my balance is off too. Like @Mufflette, I’ve had to reassess the clothing situation pretty sharpish, the maternity clothes are now out of storage and being washed ready for me to start wearing them asap. My normal jumpers are looking like I’ve shrunk them 😂

Celyn22 · 16/03/2022 19:47

Ah so lovely to catch up with your messages ladies! I hit 16 weeks today and it felt like my belly popped overnight! I did eat quite late the night before but it’s that dense bowling ball feeling @ToCaden mentioned above! I can’t believe it... i’m not sure if i’ve been holding my belly till today as it can’t have been that sudden, but there’s no way I can hold this in. I thought I’d enjoy it more but I felt a bit self conscious when I was out earlier. I’m sure in time that will change. The way I carry myself has changed a lot, things like crouching/bending down is all with wide legs apart and it feels like more of a struggle to get off the floor.

I can’t find the message above now but to assure, I also have had a few pains and cramps that I did worry about but they come and go... I’m really sure they’re just growing pains. I try to learn to enjoy them! And to acknowledge the amazing work my body is doing in creating an amazing safe space for my little one to create. Isn’t nature mad, how like the acorn knows how to become a mighty oak, our bodies know exactly how to prepare for creation, birth and sustenance!?
I’m feeling gratitude and love in this moment. Sending it all out to you lovely mamas! FlowersStar

I'm having a baby girl! Had 20 week scan yesterday, everything looks OK from scan but I have to go back in 2 weeks so they can get the heart measurements as everytime they tried to get a picture ahe turned her bum to the camera and refused to move , what they could see though they said looked normal.
I do have a low lying placenta, but I have another scan today anyway to check cervix length due to a small procedure I had in 2017.

SantiagoSister · 17/03/2022 07:25

Congratulations @Unknown6 💗 so glad everything went ok, lovely news!

Unknown6 · 17/03/2022 08:11

@SantiagoSister, yours is today isn't it? I'm just on my way to hospital now for todays scan x

ToCaden · 17/03/2022 09:03

@Unknown6 congrats on your little girl!!!

My little boy was the same 7yrs ago when I was pregnant with him, bonus of getting another scan the next week and they switch on the 3D for me too! Wonder if this little 1 will play ball for the 20 week scan in a few weeks lol x
SantiagoSister · 17/03/2022 09:07

@Unknown6 it is indeed, we’re just on our way too. So nervous 😔 hope your second scan goes well x
