Hi everyone, Is it ok if I join? I'm on one of the other august groups but it's gone quiet, think they made a Facebook group and I don't do Facebook!

Anyway my due date is 8th august, I'll add to list if that's ok. It's my second baby, but not in UK this time around so everything's a bit unknown! Xx

Scan this morning. All looked good and no concerns. Little one was jumping around like crazy though!!! Took ages to get the measurements she needed - had to tip me up, I had to walk around and all sorts. Then, just as they got the measurements, little one got hiccups!! Was so cute seeing it jumping around. Feels real now!!!

I’m so sorry to hear you guys are struggling with Rona!! It’s awful, isn’t it. I couldn’t imagine going through it pregnant and trying to parent as well. Lots of love sent your way.

We’re not finding out the gender at all. I didn’t with my first, and just found the not knowing at the end and wanting to find out kept me going through labour lol. It was a shock as I spent the whole pregnancy convinced it was a boy, and instead… DD!!! I’m already convinced this one is a boy too, but have felt very different this time round, so maybe this time I’m right.

Sending happy vibes to everyone awaiting their scans this week. Hope the time is passing quickly for you

Welcome new joiners.

@miltonj I also don't do Facebook (there is a group here too), am due the 8th and this will be my second. Only difference, I am in the UK!

@Unsure1010 so glad to hear your scan went well today x

Is anyone starting to see their tummys get bigger yet?

Glago2017 · 16/02/2022 19:08

Unknown6 yes! 🙈 this is my 2nd and I feel like I did when I was about 20 weeks pregnant with my DD. I'm only 13+ 3. 🤣 x

mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 19:22

Tbh I am a bigger girl and have been pregnant basically every year since 2018 and struggled to loose the baby weight every time but I can already see my belly change shape into a bump shape and when I lie down I can defo feel it getting harder if that makes sense! X

madeleine85 · 16/02/2022 19:24

this is my second and I am definitely larger already. I am starting 10lbs up from last time though already, and I didn't get HG this time so have gained a little already. I am seeing half bump, half flub :). Hoping now my energy is coming back and I feel up to exercising more that I can decrease the flub and it can just go on the bump! At 12 weeks I am probably the bump size I was at 16-18 last time.

Unknown6 · 16/02/2022 19:29

I'm 16 weeks tomorrow, my bump is just starting at first I thought it was just bloating, but think it's now on its way! Are you using bio oil or anything to try and prevent stretch marks? Or do you think it doesn't help?

madeleine85 · 16/02/2022 19:57

@Unknown6 I honestly just use a regular skin moisturiser lotion all over when pregnant once a day after showering. I didn't have stretch marks when I did that the last time. Not sure the specialty items for pregnancy are necessary but I was quite small last time.

SantiagoSister · 16/02/2022 20:35

Second pregnancy for me and I’m 15 weeks by my dates (was tracking), and nearly 16 weeks by my dating scan and I still don’t have a bump yet, every evening I have a lot of bloat and look 20+ weeks, but in the morning it’s all gone and my belly looks normal again. It seems that most people on their second pregnancies show a lot earlier but it looks like my body is keeping this bubs hidden very well at the moment! Also not feeling any movement yet, is anyone else?

SantiagoSister · 16/02/2022 20:39

@Unknown6 I used the Palmers stretch mark lotion in my last pregnancy, I only got to 28 weeks unfortunately but I still ended up with stretch marks, I think it’s likely genetic and if you’re prone to them, not much you can do to help stop it maybe? I got them from growing as a teenager so I did expect them during pregnancy.

Glago2017 · 16/02/2022 21:04

@Unknown6 I just use normal moisturiser. I thought I had got away with stretch marks the last time but when my tummy went down I notice about 5 that must have been right under my bump. 🤣 I thought I would get lots since I have some from growing up. X

Unknown6 · 16/02/2022 21:18

@SantiagoSister, no feeling of movement yet either and I'm 16 weeks tomorrow.

Unknown6 · 16/02/2022 21:20

@SantiagoSister, I think we are due on the same day...saw the list of dates above Smile

SantiagoSister · 16/02/2022 22:00

@Unknown6 ah hello fellow due date buddy! 😊 nice to know you haven’t felt movement yet either, that’s reassuring. Hope we feel some soon!

CoalCraft · 16/02/2022 22:13

I keep thinking I can feel movements but the logical part of my brain knows it's just gas or muscle spasms (only 13+1)

madeleine85 · 16/02/2022 23:05

I swear I felt a weird flutter once at week 10, but nothing since. Cue paranoia until it really starts :)

positivevibes22 · 17/02/2022 01:55

Hi ladies, I hope you all are doing well 🥰 I've been reading for a while but this is my first post. Is it ok if I join?

I'm 15+2 weeks and my due date based on my dating scan is 9th of August 🙂 Can I please add it to the list too?

This is my first baby and I'm very excited. I had a missed misscurage last summer in the first trimester. I found out when I was on holiday abroad. At that time I also found out that I have 2 very big fibroids (3 & 6 cm) as well as predisposition to thrombosis 🤦‍♀️ I'm not sure what the reason for the miscarriage was. Was it because of the fibroids, the predisposition to thrombosis or the flight and I will never know. I promised to myself not to fly during this pregnancy though....just to play safe. Anyways, I had a laparoscopy last September and the fibroids were successfully removed 🥳 My doctor told me that we can start trying for a baby once my first period after the operation is over and luckily it happened very fast. Due to the predisposition to thrombosis though I need to take a higher dose of Folic acid (5mg) and low dose aspirin on a dayli basis. I was told that the aspirin could be anything between 75 & 150 mg, preferably 150 but I'm taking 100 as I think that 150 throughout the pregnancy might be too much. Also, I was told that I need to stop taking it when I'm 36 weeks and I'm a bit worried about that too. I'd rather take it right until giving birth although I know that this is not ideal as it could be risky. Probably it sounds like I'm stressing out too much but I'm not 🙃...just trying to figure out what would be best in my case. I've read that some of you ladies are taking aspirin too. Could you please share what is your daily dose and till when you need to take it?

Regarding the gender, as it's my first baby I'm curious to find out if it's a boy or a girl. I have a private Well-being + Gender scan on 27th of February 😆 I've always wanted to have a girl but after everything I've been through the only thing I wish for is my baby to be healthy 🙏 So the main idea is the Well-being check, the gender will be only a bonus....plus I'm very curious and can't wait to find out 🙃

P.S. So sorry for the loooooong post, will try to keep it short next time 😆

squatternutbosh12 · 17/02/2022 07:26

Welcome to the new joiners!

@positivevibes22 I’ve been advised to take aspirin too, at 75mg. I wasn’t sure on the rationale for 75 vs 150 either, the research does vary in the doses studied and conclusions drawn, depending on local guidelines probably and which condition is being treated/prevented. Mines to prevent preeclampsia & preterm labour which my consultant thinks I’m more at risk of as my adrenal glands don’t work so I take steroids. Like you I worry whether it’s enough but at just following the consultant’s advice - at the end of the day he does this for a living! Congrats on your pregnancy 😊

squatternutbosh12 · 17/02/2022 07:28

@positivevibes22 meant to add I’m supposed to take it til 36 weeks also - I believe this is fairly standard

Unknown6 · 17/02/2022 07:43

@SantiagoSister, is this your first baby as well?
I have my 16 week appointment with the midwife today. I have already heard my babies heart beat as I had issues at 12 week scan and had to have a cvs / detailed scan. All was OK but now each appointment makes me a little nervous.
Have you told everyone yet? We have told close people but trying to wait to tell everyone else until after 20 week scan but my bump is trying to show and give me away!

SantiagoSister · 17/02/2022 07:51

@Unknown6 this will be my second pregnancy but hopefully my first living baby, I lost my son at 28 weeks last year. Good luck for your appointment today, I can completely sympathise with the nerves before each one as I am the same. I’m glad everything turned out ok after your scare at 12 weeks, that must’ve been really stressful for you. Because of what happened to us before, we don’t plan on telling anyone except parents after the 20 week scan if we can avoid it. Plan to wear baggy clothes for as long as possible then start to make excuses towards the summer as to why I can’t meet up, I’ll try to stick to FaceTime 🤞🏼

Donthaveaclue1 · 17/02/2022 07:56

Morning everyone

I posted early on in the first thread but I haven’t really kept up as this whole pregnancy has been a blur.

We found out the baby has Gastroshisis which happens around 1 in 3000 babies so not uncommon but not common either.

For those of you who don’t know what it is basically the baby’s bowl and intestines are on the outside through a hole in the abdomen. Baby will be going straight to intensive care once born and we won’t know the full extent of the damage until born.

Although I’m due on the 8th of august I will be induced at 37 weeks. Sorry for the long post just thought I would explain.

Hope you’re all doing well I’m 15+3 the doctor from the fetal medicine unit was pretty sure baby is a boy but I’m going to get my consultant to double check next week xx
