Good luck for this afternoon @theotherfossilsister xx

Gem2811 · 16/02/2022 12:34

Good luck for this afternoon @theotherfossilsister the anxiety is a killer I felt sick before mine got a gender scan in 3 weeks and I Still feel anxious about that. Sending love to you ❤️

mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 12:35

@CoalCraft really struggled this morning I haven't been sick in this pregnancy but today I coughed and was sick every where with my youngest at my side crying wanting me and cause I was in the bathroom she was shouting about wanting to brush her teeth my head was pounding after this I had a little cry while my 3 year old help me telling me I was going to be okay and she got me it's so brutal honestly and to make it worse I can't just relax am taking care off 2 kids myself while pregnant with COVID cause my partner is fully vaxed and still testing negative he still has to go to work! X

CoalCraft · 16/02/2022 12:46

@mamaof2girls Oh bless you, that sounds really hard. If your partner can't take the time off work (and I get it if he can't, it's not always easy to take random days) do you have any family nearby that can come over and help with the kids so you can get some rest? Sounds like you really need some down time to help you get better xx

mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 12:50

@CoalCraft nope because it is COVID they all have kids etc and work so they obv don't want to catch it witch is understand able. Hopefully this is my last day off feeling feel bad when I done my flow this morning it was already starting to get really faint. Partner is off near the weekend so only have to get through the next few days then hopefully get some rest. If I wasn't pregnant though it's a great diet 😂😂 I haven't been wanting to eat or snack atall! X

@CoalCraft I understand the madness 🤪 Pregnancy just seems to be counting from one milestone to another!

@theotherfossilsister Hope all goes well this afternoon and looking forward to another date on the chart 🙂

@mamaof2girls Oh I'm sorry you're feeling so rubbish. Wish I could offer more than a handhold. Just take it an hour at a time and hopefully you'll be over the worst of it soon. Your 3yo sounds absolutely adorable!!

mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 13:06

@Beth262

Yeah that's all am doing and Tbh am trying to keep the house together but aslong as the kids are happy fed and clean that's my priority the now. But have been doing little bits here and there. She honestly is the sweetest little girl ever. Never have any issue with her at nursery everyone comments on how much off a well behaved and happy child she is! X

Tiredmum31111 · 16/02/2022 13:22

Hi everyone,
Can I tentatively join. Long time reader 1st time poster.
Scan on Friday but due date likely around 24th Aug.

@mamaof2girls just a massive virtual hug!!
We are living parallel lives! I'm on day 9 (I think) of isolating with covid! Also got 2 little girls who were both positive age 2 and 5 and my husbands remained negative throughout so been working.
I honestly tried to parent horizontal last week, was a real struggle but this week feel a lot better. Good news your lateral flows are fading already, mine have only slightly stated to fade today so stuck in the full 10 days. Hope you escape and feel better sooner!! Xx

mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 13:24

@Tiredmum31111

Aww that's good that there is some light at the end off the tunnel I just keep thinking we will get better then my 3 year old and Partner will probs get it near the end 🙈🙈 I have managed to not catch it atall this is our first time ever catching it!

Is anyone else keeping their gender off the baby a secret? X

Mufflette · 16/02/2022 13:30

@CoalCraft I would feel exactly the same if I'd been waiting as long as you have! Will be thinking of you tomorrow and @theotherfossilsister this afternoon.

Tiredmum31111 · 16/02/2022 13:31

@mamaof2girls exactly the same here. Over 2 years and now get it!!
Touchwood they won't get it but if they do hopefully they won't be as poorly, my 2 year old has been off it funny tummy mainly but other than a cough my 5 year old was totally fine.

Cross fingers this is your worse day and things get easier.
We're not keeping gender a secret x

mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 13:37

@Tiredmum31111 yeah I seem to have took it a lot worse than my 1 year old she was really bad first day. Really hot just wanted to cuddle and not eat really yesterday she perked up a little better was playing away etc today she just seems really crabbit and crying all the time! I have had 3 jags aswell. But fingers crossed we are over the worst off it! X

Beth262 · 16/02/2022 13:46

Welcome @Tiredmum31111 and sorry to hear you're unwell with the dreaded 'Rona too!

@mamaof2girls A positive story for you. Despite me testing positive 3/4 weeks ago my DP and DS (who is 2 and hangs off my leg/arm/neck constantly) didn't get it so fingers crossed your DP & 3yo will skip it completely too!

Undecided about keeping gender a secret. We're finding out but not sure I can trust DP not to slip up! 🤦‍♀️

mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 13:51

@Beth262 aw fingers crossed they don't get it then that's for sure. Weird though ae how some off us catch it and then others who we live with cuddle kiss and share beds with doesn't haha!

Yeah we ain't going to find out this time atall. This is probs going to be our last so last chance to do it this way my partner has always kinda deep down wanted to not find out so going to let him have his way this time 😂😂😂 x

Beth262 · 16/02/2022 13:57

@mamaof2girls We didn't with our first but this time around, we have soooooo many of his clothes I want to know what to keep and what to sell.

Do you have any inclination of what you think you're having?

OP posts:
mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 14:04

@Beth262 I honestly don't I have 2 girls and I didn't find the beginning off their pregnancy hard I haven't actually ever had morning sickness etc so apart off me is like oh is it another girl then. I would love a little boy I can't lie their specially if this is going to be our last but aslong as they are healthy. What about you? X

mamaof2girls · 16/02/2022 14:08

Quick question for everyone aswell? If yous bottle fed what bottles did you use? We have always used Tommie tippee both girls had colic so this time and swaying more towards the mam bottles to try?? X

Beth262 · 16/02/2022 14:56

@mamaof2girls Yes as long as they are healthy I really don't mind. Obviously a boy would be a lot cheaper for us! 😂 But I think I'm probably swaying to feeling its more boy than girl. Didn't have any sickness with our first and just the odd 10 minutes or so here and there of nausea this time around so not really any different. And I've tried comparing skull shapes between both thier 12 week scans and all the nub theory stuff that seems to fly around on this forum... maybe I'll post in the group if anyone wants to test thier powers of guesswork 🙊

As for bottles, I used Tommee tippee but was just very fortunate he wasn't a colicky baby so can't really help with that one sorry x

OP posts:
madeleine85 · 16/02/2022 15:08

@mamaof2girls dr browns is meant to be fantastic for colic. They have that tube that supposedly helps. I used advent with my DD who fortunately did not have colic. Hope you escape it with this one!

CoalCraft · 16/02/2022 15:20

We used Tesco cheapy bottles - £1 a bottle, more or less! We were actually advised to avoid the main brands and go for the cheap ones as they tend to have softer teats more suitable for tiny prem babies, and DD liked them. We also used Tommee Tippee for a while and they were easier to use because of the valve, but DD wasn't fussed on them and rejected them outright when she started teething. She didn't have colic, thank goodness.

Theoretically hoping to avoid bottles altogether this time but being pragmatic about it since we had the same intention with DD. Hopefully this will be a big, strong term baby who'll be able to suckle straightaway and either stick with boob or, failing that, at least cope with the TT bottles.

As for the boy/girl convo, a small part of me would like a boy as I've had a boy's name picked out literally since childhood and I'd love to use it (this will definitely be our last), but I don't really care either way. DH is hoping for another girl as he thinks it'll be easier with two the same (not sure why!) We'll hopefully find out at the 20 week scan, though DD kept her legs crossed and we were just told "80% chance of girl" Grin
