@petitlapin1 for swimming I wear Speedo tankinis anyway. Last time I was pregnant I just bought one in a bigger size and wore the bottom part of that. It worked for me, though I didn't have a particularly big bump.

TotoAnnihiliation · 10/02/2022 10:31

Thank you for all the replies about the dizziness. I just don't remember it from last time! I am going to mention it to the midwife on Saturday when I have my booking in appointment.

I am already in maternity clothes, my friend gave me a big bag full in anticipation of me becoming pregnant. I started off being superstitious about it and saying I'll hold out until the 12 week scan, but I need clothes that fit me!

yesthatsright · 10/02/2022 10:31

@naomi94 I am in N.Ireland but outside the Belfast trust. I hope to go back to the midwifery led unit at our hospital. It is just upstairs from the main labour ward so it's easy to transfer if needed. I loved the MLU with my first, so relaxed and they were more flexible with my husband staying with me after baby was born. If I had of been on the main ward he would have had to leave straight away with the covid restrictions.

@girafferafferaffe I hope your symptoms are mild. I am through the worst of it now thankfully, there were days when I couldn't tell my head from my a*se 🙃 covid, pregnancy and a 1 year old was a lot!

girafferafferaffe · 10/02/2022 10:36

I feel alright. Just a bit snotty, a bit breathy (but not breathless!) and hardly coughing at all. Going to try and do 30 min exercise at home today so I'm not sitting on my bum all day. Washing already on and some put away. Will have to read some of my stack of books to keep me from being bored.

Isonthecase · 10/02/2022 11:02

@annlee3817 I liked the seraphine jeans, you can get them a bit cheaper on eBay. Potentially a bit long though.

petitlapin1 · 10/02/2022 11:41

@SkaterChick Hyperemesis sucks! I had it first time round. Have you got support, meds, time off work and ketostix? Hope you've already found Lucinda on the MN Hyperemesis board? I'm pretty sure I only made it through last time because of that board (and the perinatal health team! Hyperemesis made me so depressed...)
Hope it gets a bit easier for you for a bit now you've had some fluids. X

Moonshine160 · 10/02/2022 12:03

Morning everyone. Good news, scan went well and there was a heartbeat. Measuring 7+4 which is a couple of days ahead than what I thought compared to my last period. Even got a scan photo. Does anyone know if this changes my due date by a couple of days too? Not sure how it works!

annlee3817 · 10/02/2022 12:07

@Moonshine160 congrats! Due date won't change until the 12 week scan, as measurements can always be a little bit out either way when they're so tiny :)

SkaterChick · 10/02/2022 12:07

@petitlapin1 I'm off work for the month, getting new meds today and ordering ketostix.
I'm on the hyperemesis support board and it's been great for advise. And I've got a support peer through pregnancy support services.

Chlox16 · 10/02/2022 12:20

@Mags146

Does anyone get any burning inside? Almost like a burning of cervix? I get that sometimes plus dull pains, it freaks me out.
@Mags146 I get this burning sensation sometimes!! Thought I was going mad as I googled it but couldn't find anything haha Grin
IzzyLeigh · 10/02/2022 12:37

@Moonshine160 that's such great news! I'm so glad everything is okay! Has the spotting slowed down/stopped now?
I had my scan yesterday (I'm 7w4d today) and it was internal. I assume yours was likely the same? If so, don't be too alarmed if the spotting starts up again or increases a little today or tomorrow (more brown than red tomorrow prob) bc sometimes the internal scans can cause spotting. I'm sure you probably know that already, but figured I'd mention it for reassurance anyway just in case.
Again, so happy everything looks good! Strong little bean

Moonshine160 · 10/02/2022 12:53

Thanks @annlee3817 x

And thanks @IzzyLeigh. Yes mine was internal too and I found it quite uncomfortable when she was moving the probe left and right to check ovaries so it did cross my mind that the bleeding might continue a bit! How did you find yours?

They couldn’t see where any bleeding might be coming from, in a way I wish they had because it might have reassured me a bit more in case it happens again! But I’m so happy we saw a heartbeat xx

IzzyLeigh · 10/02/2022 13:15

@Moonshine160 oh whoops I meant I'm 7w5d today, close enough!
Mine was okay enough but was a little uncomfortable on the ovary check too. I haven't had any bleeding or spotting as a result yet and am honestly kind of surprised at that.
I had some spotting for a few days in week 5 (hence the reason they let me have this early scan) and so I was hoping maybe this scan would give some sort of explanation. But, nope; they didn't say they saw any reason for it. Then again, it was just the sonographer there, so she wasn't really authorized to tell me much. She said if the doctor sees anything they want to discuss (good or bad) that they will call me. No call yet, so I'm taking that as good news
And yes! the heartbeat! So so so reassuring, especially since I (like probably everyone) went into it thinking something had to be wrong and tried to prepare for the worst!

Moonshine160 · 10/02/2022 13:36

@IzzyLeigh
I’ve just created a new thread because as you warned I’ve just had some bleeding but it’s really fresh and bright red which tbh has terrified me. Surely I can’t be miscarrying 3 hours after a scan showed everything was fine? :( it’s how it’s bright red that is scaring me. I’ve just rang the assessment unit that I went to and they said it doesn’t sound worrying but I need to monitor it closely. X

ShiningStarz · 10/02/2022 13:38

@petitlapin1 I wish I could hide under baggy jumpers!! I was eating for 3 the last time! Really need to be extra good this time!!

Congrats @Holmes91 🥰

Sorry to hear @SkaterChick hope you are feeling better.

@Moonshine160 they'll measure you at every scan. I found the actual due date was calculated much later on . Ps congrats!!

Swimming costumes are pretty good on ASOS! I got a lovely maternity one from there last time round.

IzzyLeigh · 10/02/2022 14:15

@Moonshine160 try not to panic too much! Like you said, everything was good on the scan just a few hours ago.
Honestly, I think this sounds like the post-scan spotting they warn about. Our cervixes are super sensitive right now and we've got so much extra blood flow going on. You said you had felt quite uncomfortable, so it would make sense that the scan irritated that sensitive cervix and now you're seeing the blood from that The timing seems right too. As long as it doesn't get to be a ton of blood, then it sounds pretty normal I think?

ShiningStarz · 10/02/2022 14:24

@Moonshine160 there's not much they can see at those early scans. They may have seen a cyst / fibroid or something you always had but never got scanned for before. The next scan is good as they check the placenta and you can see more. Hang in there as everything sounds good ❤️

Whoknew22 · 10/02/2022 14:47

Hi all, just writing a post so I get the notifications as not wrote anything in the. We thread yet and missed all the chat. Hope you are all ok.

@Moonshine160 I would agree that our cervix are super sensitive. Especially as we aren’t 12 weeks yet so a bit of rummaging has to be done to get a good picture. Try not to worry, I know it’s hard.

I had a scan earlier today and defo feel more crampy after it. Xx

It's supposed to be really normal hun, and fresh red blood sounds normal to me as it is your actual ( very sensitive and engorged) cervix that is bleeding fresh blood and not blood from your womb if that makes sense... hope your ok x

Moonshine160 · 10/02/2022 15:51

Unfortunately it’s got worse, bright red blood dripping out. I’ve rang EPU back who told me to monitor it and there’s no point scanning me for a couple of days as everything was ok this morning and no clots yet. I am terrified. There was a perfect heartbeat just this morning, how can this be happening?

hayleynk27 · 10/02/2022 16:07

@Moonshine160 can you got to a&e to push for help? I know my midwifes told me if have any problems before 14 weeks that's where I'm to go? (Sorry for my ignorance if your circumstances are different)

Hope your ok Thanks

Billymay · 10/02/2022 16:08

@Moonshine160 oh lovely… I will keep everything crossed for you. What a terrifying time and hopefully it’s just down to being poked and prodded. Xxx

KL89 · 10/02/2022 16:16

Hi all,

Just want to congratulate everyone on there bfp and scans it's really nice to see and hear.

So sorry to hear of the losses 😟!!

Just want to jump on and give my story in hope it can reassure some of you.

I came off the implant in November and 2 weeks ago had (what I thought was my period) it was a full 5 day heavy period. The next week I felt sick tired and week so my dh told me to take a test just in case but I was confused as I had that period. However I did a test and low and behold it came back positive, so the next day I went to get a cb digital and it said 3+ weeks so I was panicking thinking what was that bleed. I phoned up epu and because I previously had an eptopic pregnancy they decided to scan me. So Monday I had light pink spotting and Wednesday (scan day) I had more pink spotting, convinced I was going to get the dreaded news I convinced myself. But no we seen a perfect 6+6 bean with a beating heatbeat and all was fine. 😀!! Since my scan I have had some light pink spotting again and mild cramps but midwife reassures me it's nothing to worry about. Bleeding in pregnancy doesn't always mean bad news as I was so heavy it's so strange but just glad everything's looking good 😊 7w today xx

IzzyLeigh · 10/02/2022 16:20

@Moonshine160: The cause could be so many things, so try not to get too zeroed in on thinking it's the worst.
It could just be normal post-scan bleeding, but if you are thinking it's too much for that, then it could be cervical ectropian maybe? Have you heard of this before? Maybe look into it a little and it might make you feel better.
Basically it means that the super sensitive cells on the inside of the cervix also develop on the outside of the cervix too. These cells can bleed very easily and also completely unprompted, especially during pregnancy since there's so much extra blood flow. It's also pretty common for women to develop it in pregnancy when they didn't have it before. Having this can cause a bunch of absolutely harmless bleeding (sometimes a lot even). It's not dangerous to the baby at all.
Now again, I have no idea if this is what's going on, but it could totally fit with what you've mentioned here. If you had unprompted spotting before and now it's way worse after the scan, after it was irritated, that could make total sense for possibly being cervical ectropian. And it's not something they would pick up on the scan either. They would need to physically examine you (speculums and such) to actually have a look.
