@annlee3817

I've felt so rough today, afternoon in bed, feel like I'm failing as a Mum as not done anything with DD today, she's been so good about it though bless her. Umming and ahhing about what to have for dinner, don't really fancy anything, may just have a bowl of Cheerios
I understand how you feel. I feel like I've neglected my poor 4 year DD since finding out I've been pregnant because I just feel so unwell.
YouBoggleMyMind · 06/02/2022 19:11

@annlee3817 different places will use different providers/labs for their NIPT but it's all the same thing. Ultrasound Direct for example use Harmony and Vision tests. It is a worry isn't it, but good that it's so accurate and you can find out the sex too.

annlee3817 · 06/02/2022 19:16

@YouBoggleMyMind yep that's who I'm using, just googled that and saw they use those :) definitely finding out the sex as well, fingers crossed for both of us

@TotoAnnihiliation it's crap isn't it, hopefully we'll feel better at some point and can make it up to them, I'm surprised my DD isn't asking questions about why I'm poorly, she's six and usually quite astute lol

@girafferafferaffe

Sounds delicious!! I spent most of my day hungry as was at a kids birthday party. Ate cereal for breakfast. A bit of half eaten cake for lunch and the chips she didn't eat. A few cheese and crackers. And then got the chicken Big Mac for dinner as was done in.
I'm desperate to try the chicken Big Mac - was it good??

I went on Friday night but they said they'd ran out of bread?? But I was okay to have a mcchicken sandwich (that included the bread ha)

@holdonbaby

Hi everyone, lovely to see all your scan pics and hear of those little heartbeats! ❤️

Please can I ask your advice as you're all at a similar stage to me.

I've had no symptoms so will be booking an early private scan. However the dates I can do I'll be either
7w 6d or
8w 4d according to LMP, ovulation would put me 3 days later so 7w 3d or 8w 1d.

My issue is the scanning place (only one nearby at 1 hour away) says you have to be at least 7 weeks as they can't see anything before then and you have to sign to acknowledge there is no second scan unless you pay more.

We are having the harmony at 10/11 weeks at £450 so can't afford a second early scan- shouldn't be having this one but I'm anxious about baby being ok as I've had zero symptoms and bleeding every day. MWU don't want to know unless I'm going through several pads a day and it's bright red (it's not).

I'm desperate to see baby I really need reassurance but don't want to be told sorry nothing can be seen but thanks for your money!!

WWYD?

Hello!!

I had a private scan at 7 weeks - I've attached the photo.
This was an abdominal scan aswell!

@surprised12 you know it was alright. I just kept getting annoyed at the burgers and buns sliding everywhere hahha. It was quite messy. Did taste good though.

holdonbaby · 06/02/2022 20:43

Thank you ladies!

@surprised12 that's a lovely picture thank you for sharing- did you see baby moving/ the heartbeat?
Were you bang on 7 weeks?

@YouBoggleMyMind I never thought of it that way, that's really helpful as they may have women a little less than 7 weeks thinking they are actually 7 so I can see why they'd say 7 rather than 6.
Your picture is so clear- was that internal?
Thank you.

@annlee3817 thank you- I was 8 weeks with my early scan with DC but I don't remember being half this anxious. I think wfh doesn't help as I find the days at work I'm distracted well.

Is everyone going for the nipt to cut out the potential rollercoaster of the nhs combined test?
I'm doing it because apparently at 41 I'll get a high chance reading anyway so feel better doing this sooner.

annlee3817 · 06/02/2022 20:46

@holdonbaby I'm 40, so having the NIPT as I'll get a high risk on combined screening based on age anyway I think, midwife agreed it was good to have it done if we can afford to

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 06/02/2022 20:55

@holdonbaby yes that picture was from the internal scan, she just showed us on the screen on the abdominal one and then told me to empty my VERY full bladder and come back for an internal. I was glad she said that cos an internal is clearer and I had an early scan with my first under the fertility clinic we were using and that was internal for the best view so I sort of knew what to expect to see this time. As you've seen by others though, you can get an decent abdominal scan photo at 7 weeks.

girafferafferaffe · 06/02/2022 21:03

Booking appointment tomorrow!

So I thought I was exactly 7 weeks, but they dated me at 7+1, and yes we saw the heartbeat.

I went back at 9 week and they added another day on - so this picture was 9+2

😭😭 I usually have a pretty high pain threshold but oh my lord, these cramps are really killing me! I've been up through the night with really intense cramps. I can't understand why. Is anybody else experiencing this?... I'm not bleeding but I am in a lot of pain. 😩 aside from paracetamol and a hot water bottle, is there anything that could help? I have a private scan on Weds so planning to hold out for that. X

annlee3817 · 07/02/2022 06:06

@handbagsandholidays how far along are you? Are you able to call your EPAU this morning or get a doctor referral?

I'm going the other way - not having the combined test. I'm doing that in the knowledge that I would have the baby whatever, and would prefer only to find out once I'm holding them if they do have Downs syndrome etc.

DH and I both have friends with children who have Downs, so we have a good idea what we, and the child, would be facing if our child did have it, and we're fine with that.

I'm 6+4... I could but I saw them last week due to spotting and cramping. They said everything looked as ok as can be last Tuesday but the cramps have been quite severe for the last few hours. I don't want them to be irritated by me calling again. X

EverydayIsPJday · 07/02/2022 06:51

Is anyone else a jittery mess ATM? Feel like I wake up jittery, I'm jittery if I don't eat, Generally exhausted all day. I can't stop it. Feel so utterly drained. I'm 6+4.

annlee3817 · 07/02/2022 07:02

@handBagsandholidays definitely call them, you've got a genuine reason to, even if they can just offer some advice and a bit of reassurance.

I've been exactly the same all night and came on to ask this very question. I think I'm actually putting it down to trapped wind! Are your cramps like period pain or are they just a little bit higher at the bottom of your tummy? That's where mine are. I've barely slept!
girafferafferaffe · 07/02/2022 08:22

I'm praying the midwife doesn't judge me for being fat today :(

Am sure she won't @girafferafferaffe

So after my cockiness on Saturday, a day without the wrist bands and feeling like the nausea has started to ease, I felt like total crap yesterday and the same today, want to curl up in a ball in bed, nothing is easing the sickness. Really thought it would ease off now, am 11 weeks on Thursday

Have you all started telling people yet or waiting until 12 weeks? We told our parents yesterday at 9 weeks as it's my dads birthday so told him as a bit of a birthday gift! Feels weird to finally have some other people know the secret 🤐

110APiccadilly · 07/02/2022 11:22

There are three people who know I'm expecting, all for practical reasons. Two of them because to start with I was really struggling to wear a mask with feeling sick (am in Wales where masks are still required) and they are people who organise/ are responsible for Covid compliance at things I attend. So I wanted to explain why I might sometimes need to take my mask off for a minute, when I'd never needed to before! The final one is a colleague who wanted me to help with something in September, and who I trust not to gossip.

We're not telling anyone else until after the 12 week scan. Though it has worked out well in that one of the people I had to tell is a good friend and she's offered to look after DD so both DH and I can go to the scan.

We're seeing PiLs pretty soon after the scan, which means we can tell them in person, and my parents don't live far away so I'm sure we can come up with an excuse to have them round and then tell them. I'm really looking forward to that as telling everyone about DD was all done over Zoom etc due to lockdown.

girafferafferaffe · 07/02/2022 11:25

I've only told 1 friend of mine who knew we were trying and 2 people at work so they know why I may be flagging some days. No family know at all because of my mums previous behaviour. I think they're all going to be so shocked because my h didn't want more for a long time and none of them expect it.
