Hi all,

I've just had my BFP and am due early October 2022, for my first baby I joined a group on here for people all due the same month so thought I'd start one this time round - early days I know but nice to speak to people in the same boat! 🙂

I'm 31 and have a DD who is 16 months.

Is anyone else due in October? How are you feeling?

@natkasz if you dont mind me asking, how come you are concerned about being rhesus negative?
I only ask because I am too and had to get the anti D shots in my first pregnancy (and after birth as baby was pos). I had worries about this during my MC, but was told not to worry about it until after 12 weeks? 🤷🏼‍♀️

natkasz · 31/01/2022 13:36

@syda it's because first time round they told me my little boy is also rhesus negative so I didn't get the post birth injection. The problem is that they can't trace his blood test results (he was born in the third week of the very first lockdown so they basically made me go home after a few hours), it's not in my discharge notes and I have since been told that following birth some antibodies mixed with my bloodstream which makes me wonder if he is actually rhesus positive and I should have been given the anti-d post birth 🤔

I'm speaking with my GP about it tomorrow as I find it odd that there's no record of my child's blood group and type anywhere despite it being tested following birth.

syda · 31/01/2022 14:02

@natkasz how poor of them 😖 I had my first in the summer of 2020 so also went into hospital alone (partner there for birth) and then spent three days on my own with the baby after. Thinking back to those times I still cant fathom how they let maternity care slip so much when it's so incredibly crucial for a healthy/happy baby and mum.
Saying that I also don't actually know what blood type my first is, they just said to me after he was born that I need the shot.

I hope your GP can help! As surely it'll be on your child's health records... such unnecessary worry further down the line when all they had to do at the time was just get it right.

natkasz · 31/01/2022 18:19

@syda isn't it?! All women who birthed during the pandemic have to some extent been let down. I was unfortunate in that nothing was allowed at the time, no services were available. I didn't know for 6 months if my little one was deaf as they refused to have his hearing reassessed after he had failed the initial test. I'm hoping for a much better experience this time round (to include plenty of cake whilst out to baby groups with baby number 2 :))

The GP tried to chase the little one's records with the hospital but there's no reference to his blood type anywhere. I guess I'll have to have the anti-d regardless but I cannot grasp how such a record can go missing.

Soo it definitely has all hit today - I am only 4w 3 (from LMP) but had positive 7days ago but until today virtually symptomless. I went for a quick nap at 2pm today after a large lunch and woke up feeling like a different person (and not in a good way!). Really nauseated and so tired but had to get to work for 3pm - work was OK, but when I got home I cried because someone texted me saying my allotment shed door was flapping in the wind and my husband was (understandably) not particularly willing to go down in the dark and close it Grin. Proper bawled and went off on one about him helping his pregnant wife... Lol, I have come round now but clearly the hormones are kicking in!

In some ways I feel happy to have some symptoms just to make it feel real. But I won't be saying that if I do end up with bad sickness. I am borderline phobic of being ill (particularly vomiting/nausea), so have been doing lots of research on things that might help - have so far bought travel sickness wrist bands, lots of ginger stuff... I realise it's silly as I might not even feel sick but I have such a weak stomach and this is my first pregnancy and I'm honestly terrified about it! I am self employed so no sick pay and am so worried about not being able to work. Anyway, hubby is being supportive (even if my shed doors aren't his priority lol) and I know that all I really need to do is stay calm, look aftermyself and let this baby grow!

Hi there,
I hope you don’t mind me joining.
I got a positive test this morning, and am due in October….I’m loving reading everybody’s messages, and it’s so reassuring to know there’a others to talk to during this time.
Feeling super anxious at the minute as had a miscarriage around this time last year, so hoping for better news this time and trying to keep calm.

Yellowdott · 01/02/2022 07:40

Hi all, can I join? Enjoyed reading all your messages and different experiences!

I'm 4+1, due October 10th. I have one DD and they'll have a 3.5 year gap. Feeling a bit anxious as probably should have waited a few more days to test to make sure it's not a chemical!

I have on and off nausea at the moment and I've gone off coffee! Strange as last pregnancy I had no symptoms other than mild cramping at 5 weeks.

Are the rest of you trying to get the flu vaccine asap? I feel like it's too early to call the doctors but so worried about flu too since we're in the middle of winter!

Congratulations all! Grin

BecLJ · 01/02/2022 08:01

Congratulations and welcome @beths89 and @Yellowdott all best wishes to you both x

@yellowdott I'm not trying to get the flu vaccine but only because I had it in December. It's probably worth asking the doctor anyway even just to get advice and put your mind at ease about when to get it.

So tired at the moment! I fell asleep on the sofa at 8pm but when I woke up and went to bed I could not get to sleep until about 3am. Not sure if physical or just lots to think about!

Welcome and congrats @Yellowdott and @beths89!

Ohh I hadn't even thought about the flu jab but that's a really good point - flu season is until March time isn't it. I will probably phone and try and get one - from what I've read flu is most dangerous in later pregnancy (and hopefully for us in the summer/early autumn it will be a low risk) but better to be on the safe side - thanks for mentioning!

syda · 01/02/2022 08:09

@Yellowdott I got a flu jab back in November 😬
Maybe you could ask your GP for one?

I was thinking of calling my GP today to see if they'd give me a prescription for higher dose folic acid (high bmi so will get it anyways after midwife appointment but that wont be until 8 weeks..), maybe ask about aspirin too. Ideally I also want omeprazole for the impending heartburn.

I also think it's too early for me to arrange a midwife appointment, same fears of maybe it being a chemical etc.

What feels like the longest trimester has started (yet technically the shortest!) 😀

Yellowdott · 01/02/2022 08:15

Thank you, @BecLJ and @Aubyone!

Sorry you're so tired, BecLJ! And sleep deprived at the same time?! How did you find the first trimester last time?

That's very true, Aubyone! Smile

Leibee87 · 01/02/2022 08:21

Congratulations on all the new bfps and welcome to the thread.

@Yellowdott I got my flu jab in Nov when I had my booster.

I rang Dr's last Wednesday to sort out appt. I felt a bit silly but I just didn't really know. I have been knowingly prg for a week now. Feels like the longest week of my life and that it's been ages that I have known haha

@BecLJ i am tired too but tbh nothing new for me I'm always tired what I find weird is although I wake up like 2 times a night for a wee I always feel somewhat rested in the morning upon waking where as before I never felt like that. (don't get me wrong I've been up for an hr now and starting to yawn again haha)

I woke with horrible dhiorreah this morning. My stomach was so painful (trapped wind I think) with cramps. Thankfully Tuesday is my wfh day so on the sofa with a hot pad. The morning sickness etc is definitely getting stronger each day but still thankfully not been sick yet.

Has anyone else already almost outgrown bras?

scottishsunshine96 · 01/02/2022 08:28

@Leibee87 My larger boobs was one of my first symptoms I noticed before I even tested- what are they going to be like in a few months if they're like this now?!

Is anyone else seriously hungry? I had to get up at midnight last night because I couldn't stop thinking about a buttery crumpet- tried to ignore the urge but I was so blooming hungry. I did sleep like a baby after I had it though!

Leibee87 · 01/02/2022 09:30

@scottishsunshine96 yep big boobs were definitely one of my telling points haha dh kept saying "your boobs look huge" haha. But yeah, I don't really want to buy new bras now (I mean I am probably due new bras mind) to then have to buy some again later on but I might have too.

I lost my appetite a bit but I do get hungry quick after eating like 2hrs after breakfast. I'm starting to crave orange juice too which usually I dislike but at the moment it's what I want to drink.

Trying81 · 01/02/2022 09:42

I have the worst shoulder pain. I know it’s likely I’ve just slept awkwardly on it, but of course my anxiety is going wild and making me think it could be ectopic

Gonna ask my GP what he thinks

Nikki037297 · 01/02/2022 10:12

I’m now 4+3, morning sickness is already in full swing. Clear blue said 3+ last night. Breast extremely sore, very very tired. I keep dreaming of twins lol. With my other pregnancies all my symptoms started between 5-6weeks, never ever vomited before 6weeks. It feels like it’s all happening so much sooner this time and there is absolutely no way I have my dates wrong

JulietOscar · 01/02/2022 10:36

Hi everyone.

Hope you don’t mind if I join? I got my BFP over the weekend, and think I’m due at the start of October. This is our first baby, and the whole thing has come as a bit of a shock as we weren’t actually TTC! I rang the docs yesterday and apparently need to self-refer to whichever hospital I want to give birth in. It seems wayyy too soon to be thinking about that! Haha.

Anyway, congrats to you all and hope everyone is feeling well! Xx

mistyrae · 01/02/2022 10:46

@Leibee87 @scottishsunshine96
Having the same bra issue but I have some of those unwired (but padded) bras from primark which have helped so much as they’re stretchy!! I think they’re really cheap too which is ideal if they’re going to continue to grow!

SunnySideUp2020 · 01/02/2022 10:51

Anyone having period type pains??
It really concerns me... i think I am 13 dpo.
And this is my line progression.
With my DD I had very High hcg so test were super dark in 2 days but here I am wondering if it isn't too faint.

Anyone else still testing?

Due October 2022
scottishsunshine96 · 01/02/2022 11:12

@mistyrae oh that sounds great and very affordable- I might take a trip there at the weekend and pick up some bits!

Leibee87 · 01/02/2022 11:21

Ohh thanks for that @mistyrae.

@SunnySideUp2020 yep that's pretty much what I have been experiencing. The line is definitely progressing so that's good.

BecLJ · 01/02/2022 11:42

@Yellowdott my first trimester with my daughter I was very tired too, although I don't remember being this tired this soon... having a toddler might be contributing to that though!

I haven't experienced the bigger boobs things but definitely still feeling cramps. I'm 5wks today Smile

Yellowdott · 01/02/2022 11:54

Haven't had the bigger boobs either but sounds like a nice symptom haha!

@SunnySideUp2020 those look great - you can see the HCG increasing every day which is what you want!

Congratulations @JulietOscar! Do you know how many weeks you are? Has it come as nice news or not so much? Must be a shock either way if you weren't trying!

imfm · 01/02/2022 11:57

It's been lovely to see this thread fill up so quickly. I'm particularly anxious after having a MC last year and see that some of you are in the same boat of being pregnant after a loss. Can I ask, is there anything you are doing in addition to taking bog standard pregnancy vitamins? Have you started taking aspirin? Are you seeking progesterone from the GP? Are you avoiding anything in particular? I'm just taking standard vits but wondering what else I could do to try and have the best possible outcome. Spiralling a wee bit and becoming distracted from work researching stuff!

123walrus · 01/02/2022 12:03

Can I ask when you all contacted the doctor/midwife? I think I’m around 5 weeks so feels early. Thinking of waiting until after the early scan I’ve booked in 2 weeks. Feels like tempting fate to do it now. I’m scared of having to call them up and say I’ve miscarried.

Last time I had an IVF pregnancy and I called them at 8 weeks and it seemed a bit rushed.
