@pregnancydiaries
I'm really hoping not but will need to wait and see. Negative lateral flows so far.

Very runny nose, sore throat and husband has sore throat and a cough so very well could be a cold or Covid.

Staying in this weekend and hoping we get over this or get a positive LFT soon

X

Grrrr. Is it too much to ask to want to find smart trousers I can wear to work that aren’t cheap-looking black polyester. Every company who does maternity clothes seems to think all I want (or need) to wear are leggings, jeans and trackie bottoms. Can’t I be pregnant AND have a corporate role? I’m doing relatively well re dresses, but I miss wearing smart trousers. All the ones I find are glorified yoga pants, which don’t cut it in the office, or nasty black synthetic material that make me feel like I’m an 18-year-old on work experience. If I only wear good quality natural fibres when not pregnant, why would I suddenly go polyester mad while pregnant? It’s bad enough to be buying clothes for such limited use anyway without polluting the planet further. I found various companies last time I was pregnant but so few have stayed the course and are still in business - it’s doing my head in. Rant over.

Agree with this! Found a good pair at Jojo Maman Bebe !

@Turniptracker We have a baby appointment today as well. I feel like we need some recommendations as there is so much to choose from! Best of luck with yours

ALHCTPS · 12/02/2022 09:14

@MrsTwentyNine - was that the straight and wide-leg ones they have? Just been looking at them online, but was suspicious of ordering as so many similar pairs I’ve tried - Seraphine, H&M etc - have been disappointing. But even at JoJo Whatsherface, there are millions of legging, jeans and trackie bottom options and a measly two smart trousers - why? Surely there must be so many pregnant office-based women out there who can’t just slob about in jeans and leggings?

InvisibleDragon · 12/02/2022 09:54

@nikita22 - Just weighed myself for the first time since the booking appointment. I'm 22 weeks and I've gained 3kg since then, probably 4kg since the beginning of pregnancy.

I think 7kgs is fine. A lot of the weight is important stuff - the baby(!), the placenta, our breasts getting ready to make milk, our bodies storing energy for breastfeeding. It's normal.

I don't like it that I'm heavier than I was and going to get bigger. But gaining weight in pregnancy is healthy and my body still feels healthy and strong.

GrowBabyGrow · 12/02/2022 10:07

We had our anomaly scan yesterday afternoon and baby is healthy and developing well! Found out the sex - we're having a little girl. She was very curled up so took some jiggling to get her into position for some of the checks - the weirdest thing is her sleeping position with her hands up to her face is just like how my DH sleeps! So very relieved to know she is ok in there

MrsTwentyNine · 12/02/2022 10:51

Yes they are! @ALHCTPS haha
How did you know 😂

MrsTwentyNine · 12/02/2022 11:02

This is the only place I can ask stupid questions so here goes
Baby kicks are felt in my lower belly and I know that's where he is but my bump is now round (from below boobs) so does the abdomen expand in preparation for the growing baby? So the area is big but baby isn't there yet...why did I think the baby would occupy the whole area when the bump is big ...is this really stupid 😂

RoseValleyRambles · 12/02/2022 11:17

I think everything else gets pushed up, so the baby may be lower down but all the stuff that used to be there is probably now further up in the bump!

Olive60 · 12/02/2022 11:30

My nipples are killing me 😭 its like ive been dragged by a bus without a top on! Like they're smarting. I dont ever remember this sensation with my DD but it makes me feel so sick the pain is awful! I keep having it a couple of times a day for the last 2 weeks!

MrsTwentyNine · 12/02/2022 11:37

@RoseValleyRambles that makes sense!! Because I kept stroking the top of the bump then realised baby isn't even there 😂

MrsNT · 12/02/2022 12:12

Ladies I have a burning sensation while passing urine today. Color looks normal .have increased water intake. Wont be able to contact gp since weekend. Do i need to go to triage?

Vimto1991 · 12/02/2022 12:29

@MrsNT
Could you try ringing 111 for advice, or perhaps see a pharmacist for an opinion first?

Vimto1991 · 12/02/2022 12:30

@Olive60 mine are terrible in cold weather. Have you tried a nipple balm? Mama mio do one. :)

fpeg · 12/02/2022 12:56

@MrsTwentyNine I was only thinking about this the other day (I feel 90% of my movements very low down) and have realised that given top of uterus is about 3cm above navel (for me) it probably means that most of the time she is head up and legs down, so when she kicks that's where I feel it. It makes sense to me that punches wouldn't be as strong. That's my theory anyway 🤷‍♀️ she has definitely managed to get herself transverse a couple of times as I've felt both sides simultaneously on a few occasions. Mum is an ex-midwife and reckons she won't have space to do that much longer as she grows.

Starbeach · 12/02/2022 13:29

@MrsTwentyNine have you had your scan yet? I’m the same can only feel kicks low down on one side but they’ve told me it is because of where the placenta is located. I have an anterior placenta

MrsNT · 12/02/2022 13:43

@vimto1991 went ti pharmacy and they said camt give the cystitis sachets during preg since it can shoot up blood pressure. Said to drink barley water so got a bottle of robinsons barley drink ..have been drinking loads of plain water too. Hoping it goes away by itself

Vimto1991 · 12/02/2022 13:46

@mrsnt fingers crossed it improves for you quickly!! ☺️

InvisibleDragon · 12/02/2022 13:58

@MrsTwentyNine - the top of the abdomen is all our internal organs squashed up!

MrsTwentyNine · 12/02/2022 13:58

@fpeg that makes sense! He was in breech position when I had my scan @Starbeach and I have a posterior placenta. I suppose in the coming weeks they will grow so quickly that it will be pretty obvious what they're doing and where!

MrsTwentyNine · 12/02/2022 13:58

Thank you @InvisibleDragon that's super helpful ❤️

beansprout55 · 12/02/2022 15:15

@MrsNT if it persists for a couple of days deffo get some AB's. My GP told me off for trying to fight it off myself (as I usually do) the other week, given I'm pregnant.

Anyone else got stretch marks yet?? My bump is very small still (only 20+6) and no marks to be seen, but my boobs have purple stretch marks already. Really annoyed. I expected it but not until my third trimester or when my milk comes in, if they're this bad so early on I dread to think how many more I'll get on them as the weeks go by!

Vimto1991 · 12/02/2022 15:33

@beansprout55 yes me! I noticed them on Monday after a shower. I’ve been forgetting my body butter thinking I wasn’t that big yet (my friends say I’m small, too), but I think I’ve expanded in the past week or so and have red stretch marks on my lower stomach.
Constantly rubbing tummy butter on now 😅 I know I’ll still get them, but maybe the butter will prevent one or two marks!
