@Vimto1991 I just re-read through yesterday's thread and saw about your work stress! That sounds really frustrating! It's bad they aren't getting anyone to cover you if you are the only one that knows your job.

Lostintranslatio · 11/02/2022 09:12

@unknownscot that happens to me very often, waking up with a sore throat from reflux, even before pregnancy.

Vimto1991 · 11/02/2022 09:27

@GrowBabyGrow thank you, I think I’m getting myself worked up and stressed at the idea of being stressed. Before the pregnancy I actually thrived at work with more pressure, but I get so worried stress can harm the baby then if I feel a tingle of stress it sets off my anxiety. 😭 tempted to get one of those diffusers, I’ve been looking at which essential oils pregnant people can be around!

GrowBabyGrow · 11/02/2022 09:42

@Vimto1991 I completely related to being stressed at the idea of being stressed! We have some big projects coming up at work and thankfully they are being supportive and being mindful of the need to keep my stress down but I've got so worked up about not getting stressed that the focus on that makes it worse and I do still get really stressed out. Starting pregnancy yoga this weekend which I think will help! I hope...

Vimto1991 · 11/02/2022 09:47

@GrowBabyGrow that’s exactly my issue! My manager knows to keep my stress down and not to do anything that would make me feel swamped, and I think I’d be protected by him and my director if anything were to go wrong on the projects. Typically all happening March/April 😅 I can rely on outsourcing my work to another company which my director agreed to, but I still end up feeling stressed before anything’s kicked off as other departments relying on me won’t be as supportive. 🙄
Hope your pregnancy yoga helps!! I’ve considered pregnancy swimming! ☺️☺️ Fingers crossed the projects don’t majorly stress us! As my GP once told me, there’s a lot more stressful situations that babies are born into than those derived from work.

JAR1981 · 11/02/2022 10:22

@InvisibleDragon nocturnal here too. Busiest about 11pm then from whatever time I wake up in the night to pee (3am last night) basically until I get up. I’m shattered TGIF! I was thinking about whether it’s a sign of how they’ll be when they arrive too eeek! @Starbeach you poor thing! My baby turned a couple of days ago and literally all the kicks now feel right up against my cervix. Not the most comfortable feeling but thankfully no projectile vom to go with it.

Has anyone else not got a date agreed with their employer for starting mat leave? I emailed HR with my due date and asked for info on our policy re how holidays need to be used/accumulate whilst out so I can decide what date I’d like to finish and the guy was very blasé about it and just asked me to book time with him in March to start discussing. I thought we legally needed to inform employers of the intended start date by 15 weeks before, which is today for me :(. Seriously don’t want to lose out on my entitlement.

fpeg · 11/02/2022 11:10

@JAR1981 yes you are required to inform your company at least 15 weeks before. But equally you have done this! Just make sure you have an email trail showing that you've informed them, then you've held up what you need to do. Email them a copy of your mat B1 form when you have it and you're all done. If they aren't telling you the policy that isn't your fault. They can't make you lose holiday entitlement, so if they do want you to take a certain amount then it's on them to make it happen for you, so long as you've made the request for the info. Our company policy says to inform them of intended start of mat leave date no later than 15 weeks prior to due date as well, it is a movable feast though. You can move it forwards to wherever you need it but moving it back needs the agreement of the company, so if you aren't sure leave it as the latest that you can possibly imagine needing to take it and then you can move it forwards if/as you need to.

Vimto1991 · 11/02/2022 11:14

@JAR1981 as long as your manager/HR Knows your due date 15 weeks before than that’s fine. You don’t need to hand in proof/matb1 until the month before I believe as I got told March-May for that, but as long as I’ve let my manager and HR know I’m good. :)

unknownscot · 11/02/2022 11:39

Thanks everyone.

I'm home from work and heading to bed for a few hours. My throat is agony!

pregnancydiaries · 11/02/2022 11:45

Thanks @fpeg @Lostintranslatio just back from doctors and I have shingles 😩 feeling crappy!!! Also means I'm not allowed to go to my midwife 22 appointment on Tuesday so I'm sad about that xx

Lostintranslatio · 11/02/2022 11:48

@pregnancydiaries I'm so sorry to hear that!! Does it have treatment? Or just let it go on its own?

pregnancydiaries · 11/02/2022 11:52

I got anti viral tablets that said should work if taken within first 24 hours 🤞🏼 very annoying as it's on my left side so sleeping is out the window. Just as long as baba is ok then that's the main thing and they seem to think little to no risk because I've had chickenpox before xxx

fpeg · 11/02/2022 12:16

@pregnancydiaries how rubbish for you 😢 glad there's no risk to bubba though 💚 wishing you a speedy recovery x

unknownscot · 11/02/2022 12:33

@pregnancydiaries sorry to hear that ❤️

Prema112 · 11/02/2022 12:44

@pregnancydiaries Oh no how rubbish!! Hope it clears up soon, make sure you put your feet up stress can make it worse xx

BunBun221 · 11/02/2022 13:34

Got my 20 week scan this afternoon. Mot sure why but I'm so nervous - kept waking up from various anxiety dreams last night and can't seem to focus on anything today!

Starbeach · 11/02/2022 14:51

@BunBun221 good luck are you going to find out the sex?

I’ve been told by the doc that I have acid reflux but I’m not convinced, basically only when I’m tired out about to fall asleep I feel
Like I have something stuck on my tonsil that needs clearing so cue an hour of coughing worst still is if I get tired in the shops and everyone looks at you like you have covid 🙈 has anyone else had something like this? I’ve convinced myself for no reason that it’s something worse x

pregnancydiaries · 11/02/2022 15:20

Thanks so much girls @Prema112 @fpeg @unknownscot, I've definitely been feeling the stress recently with work so I've taken today off and tucked up in bed feeling extremely sorry for myself. Shingles really is no fun!! ♥️

@unknownscot how are you feeling now?xx

unknownscot · 11/02/2022 16:34

@pregnancydiaries I feel crap. I'm in bed freezing
And think I'm definitely coming down with something 😢😩

pregnancydiaries · 11/02/2022 21:23

@unknownscot Uch how crap is it feeling ill through this. You thinking covid? I'm doping on the paracetamol xx

JAR1981 · 11/02/2022 21:24

Oh no @pregnancydiaries hope you recover soon!

Thanks @Vimto1991 @fpeg for the mat leave advice. As you say I’ve done my bit so hopefully they can’t hold it against me!

@BunBun221 how was the scan?

Happy weekend everyone 🙌🏻

nikita22 · 11/02/2022 22:18

Iv put on 7kgs and was wondering if that's a lot for 5 months pregnant I feel like I should maybe pace my self with how much I eat (I can't stop lol)🤦🏼‍♀️ if you don't mind sharing how much have you guys put on in the 5 months

Annabell1 · 11/02/2022 22:32

@pregnancydiaries I hope you are feeling better soon.

Congratulations on all the successful scans. 💕

Gosh, my bra situation is also killing me. I'm already on an H cup and feel like I need the next size up. 😭 Think I have to get physio for my back...

Happy weekend ladies. 💛

Lostintranslatio · 12/02/2022 03:11

@nikita22 I am 20+3 and I'm 3 kg above my prepregnancy weight. But every pregnancy and body are different. I have a friend who put on 8kg in the first six months and barely gained 2 more kg for the rest of the pregnancy (and following same pattern in her second pg).

Turniptracker · 12/02/2022 08:15

My husband felt baby kick for the first time last night! Despite having an anterior placenta that baby boy was giving it everything he had 😂 very exciting! Going to a baby appointment today to try out travel systems etc, hoping to come out slightly more knowledgeable than I feel right now (which is utterly clueless)
