@CurryandSnuggle I have a C shape one from amazon by the brand “kolbray”. It’s gone a bit flat and I end up on my back still, but it’s £32 and it’s not that bad to be fair! In terms of hip pain others have said mattress toppers should do the trick!

@DaimDillyDoo
I thought mine was going to ask me if I wanted to know the gender, when she was done she didn’t so I asked if she had seen what the gender was and she said ‘she didn’t see’, which roughly translates to ‘I didn’t look’. I mean she was looking at the more important organs, and we had found out privately last month, but I thought they may have had a peek for us!!

On another note… my whooping cough vaccine has wiped me out. More so than Pfizer did! My arm wrecks, head hurts, and my whole body feels achey. 😫 I’ve felt baby less today which hasn’t helped my mood, but I did find out I have a front facing placenta, so really depends on how baby is facing for me to feel them.

Lostintranslatio · 22/01/2022 21:17

Ladies, when did you start feeling the baby? And more important... Did you know it was the baby?? 😂😂😂 I'm suffering from gas pains and I'm afraid I'll mistake my baby with trapped wind 😂

CurryandSnuggle · 22/01/2022 21:20

@Vimto1991 I’ve got a mattress topper already but I think it’s a hip alignment issue because I’ve had to change up what I do with my legs due to growing bump. That’s where I think something between knees may help. I used to sleep on my side anyway but with one leg right up into my ribs and the other stretched out straight (hard to describe), now I have to have both knees bent and together, and at lower angle than I like because my bump gets in the way.

CurryandSnuggle · 22/01/2022 21:21

@Lostintranslatio I thought that st the beginning and wasn’t sure if it was just gas but it definitely starts to become unmistakable as they get bigger. I reckon you’ll know for sure by 20 weeks.

laurenGame · 22/01/2022 21:22

That’s good you have confidence in your DH for support!

@Rolledthedice oh I don't have confidence at all, he's just going to have to learn how to be a good birthing partner Grin

He seems a bit clueless just how much pain I'll have to go through - I try to tell him I will be crying in pain for hours and he'll just have to watch me and support me, he said 'crying, I thought you're quite good with pain?'

I try to explain that it's the worst pain known to a human, like all your bones breaking, feels like torture, likely to go on for 12 hours , etc etc.

Classes should help too once I pass 30 weeks Smile

I just can't imagine being in labour and having obstetrician , nurse/s, my DP , plus doula there - it's too much. DP going to have to be the doula Grin

Vimto1991 · 22/01/2022 21:23

@CurryandSnuggle yeah I have hypermobility in my right hip which is causing me pain sleeping on the side, I think my pregnancy pillow needs fluffing up as the only relief I get is turning onto my other side to sleep which isn’t the best for a good nights sleep! You can actually get knee pillows that you Velcro onto your knees… 😂 legit may help you!!

Lostintranslatio · 22/01/2022 21:23

@CurryandSnuggle thanks! I'm still 17+4 and I can't wait to feel sth else!!!

CurryandSnuggle · 22/01/2022 21:29

@Vimto1991 you might be right actually, I can imagine a knee pillow helping me more than a pregnancy pillow. I’ll try with a cushion tonight, see how that helps. 🤞 sorry to read about your hypermobility, that definitely doesn’t help!

Prema112 · 23/01/2022 08:53

@beansprout55 How was your scan? Hope you're ok x

Vimto1991 · 23/01/2022 10:31

Sat here a total mess as my back molar has just cracked below the gum but every dentist is closed, even 111 says I need to just wait until tomorrow 😭 I’m so worried about an infection harming the baby.

laurenGame · 23/01/2022 11:43

@Vimto1991 lots of salt water gargle, and mouthwash. Then floss after each meal? It should keep bacteria at bay . How annoying for you ... I had a sore gum the other day and it was scaring me that it's something to do with the tooth. Thankfully the pain left so maybe it was an irritated gum.

Can anyone recommend anywhere for 'stylish' maternity clothes? I don't want to start living in floral maxi dresses for the next 4 and a half months just because I'm pregnant! Really resent having to shell out on a new wardrobe for such a short time in my life when I usually only go shopping once a year (if that) to just update the staples I already have. Unfortunately a lot of those staples are high waisted above-knee skirts so haven't been able to fit into those for around a month now 😬

RoseValleyRambles · 23/01/2022 15:06

@vimto 1991 you'll likely be ok, although I admit tooth stuff sends me into an absolute panic too. Keep it clean, use a salt rinse, and hopefully you'll get it seen to tomorrow.

I've found some nice stuff on vinted, as well as a lot of frumpy things (or grey things. Why so much grey?) H&M might have things you like? Or you could shell out for seraphine ..
Vimto1991 · 23/01/2022 15:38

@laurenGame & @RoseValleyRambles thank you for the kind words and advice! I used mouth wash and my DH got a dental repair kit from boots which they said is safe for pregnant people. Fingers crossed I can be seen tomorrow before there’s infection as that’s what I’m worried about!
I’ll try salt water throughout the day just in case as well :)

beansprout55 · 23/01/2022 16:54

Wow new thread already! Thanks for the tag. So much to catch up on x

@Prema112 @laurenGame Scan was ok and babe's heart is still beating away as it should. Saw the baby for less than a minute though, she put the monitor on and said "yes, you're all fine!" wiped my stomach clean then sent me on my way! It was only a 'reassurance scan', but I was hoping she would check things a bit more as I'm bleeding and look at the sex if she could. When I said I had a bleed she didn't comment or ask about it.
Midwife phoned later and has me booked in with the hospital psychologist to help me cope, the bleeds and the marriage issues are really taking their toll. Reluctant to take any med though, hopefully CBT will be enough.
So guess I'll have to wait until the 20 week scan (only 2 weeks away) to find out the sex.
Really looking forward to that xxx

Whoever it was that suggested the Bamibi pillow, it's now in my Amazon basket! So grateful for that recommendation, love that it's multi-functional. A lot of your superstores don't deliver to Jersey so I'll be doing most of my ordering through them xx

Lostintranslatio · 23/01/2022 17:34

@mrkb I bought two jeans in Dunnes and I swear they are the most comfy jeans I ever had. Really considering to keep wearing them after pregnancy.

I have also bought some basic tops and dresses in H&M. You need to dig in to find good cotton pieces but they are good.

And I bought a couple of dresses in Envie de fraise, and I kept them because I liked the shape and the pattern, but I found the fabric quite mediocre for the range of prices of the brand tbh (like a t-shirt viscose fabric). I bought them on sales with a good discount but I wouldn't have paid more than 12 euros each in Primark IYKWIM.

AlbatrossSociety · 23/01/2022 18:28

@Vimto1991 hope you're not in too much pain and you can get it sorted tomorrow! I'm sure salt washes will keep infection at bay.

I absolutely hate shopping and have completely avoided buying any new clothes. I'm just wearing the baggy things I already had and now have a very limited wardrobe! I'm struggling for bras, I have already had to buy new ones but they're all really thin and my nips are really sensitive so I want more protection!! Anyone have any they really like?

Rolledthedice · 23/01/2022 18:48

Hi all, I’m 20 weeks tomorrow and yesterday I did my first class of prenatal Pilates - having not done Pilates properly in a year - followed by my usual badminton with OH (we play casually/no point scoring etc and I try to limit twisting and jumping).

This evening I’ve noticed cramp and discomfort on the left side of abdomen below belly button. It happened when I was trying to hoover so I’ve stopped the housework for today. I’ve only ever felt stretching in lower areas, which I assumed was round ligaments. I guess I’m worried I overdid it at badminton or Pilates? Has anyone else had mild cramping in this area? I’m hoping that given it’s mild, it’s just normal stretching and my muscles reacting to the workout? 😕

Lostintranslatio · 23/01/2022 18:51

@AlbatrossSociety I bought these bras and love them:

AlbatrossSociety · 23/01/2022 19:13

Ooh thanks @Lostintranslatio, I'm currently at a 34F but maybe I'll give the 36DD a go!

@Rolledthedice I have had some cramping and mild pain in various places and it is often after pilates or some other exercise. It doesn't feel sustained like pulling a muscle, just kind of twinging? For me I think it's just ligaments and muscles etc reacting to exercise and it hasn't worried me but if it doesn't die down and keeps playing on your mind then you could always call a midwife?

RoseValleyRambles · 23/01/2022 19:29

@rolledthedice could it be Braxton Hicks? I've had something similar after a very active day, and it fits the descriptions online. Sounds like they can start from 16 weeks and being very active is one trigger.

MrsNT · 23/01/2022 19:36

Has anyone looked at baby changing bags for when out and about? I dont want an expensive one but dont want something thats too big or heavy

Flowerbug1994 · 23/01/2022 19:46

@MrsNT have you looked at what could come with your pram am buying a whole silver cross bundle and you get the pram pushchair converter seat, car seat, isofix, rain over and pram bag. It ends up a really good deal buying everything together.

PurpleMoon12 · 23/01/2022 20:07

Is anyone still having sex? Any issues afterwards or all ok?
