Its honestly horrible!
Take it has not effected your ears currently?
My hearing is does seem to be worse than normal. I'm not the best person to ask though, I have to wear hearing aids in both ears 🙈

Hi everyone,

Have been lurking since my first BFP on Sunday but too scared to officially 'join' until my digital BFP this morning. My digital said 2-3 weeks and according to LMP I've just gone 4 weeks, so due end of September!

Congratulations to everyone 💕

I'm new to all of this so a couple of questions;

 • I've self referred to my local hospital - do I still need to let my GP know I'm pregnant?
 • When do you stop testing?! I've done 4 tests this week plus a digital... I think I'm going mad but it's just so reassuring!!

Thanks all - so excited! Xx

NewtoUK2021 · 21/01/2022 15:28

Hi everyone and congratulations!

This is my first pregnancy, I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow! I've also just moved to the UK a few months ago, so I have no idea how things are done here with testing and maternity care (originally from the USA).

Does anyone have any advice on exercise? My GP just said I can do walking and swimming, but that doesn't seem like much. I'm used to exercising most days either weight lifting, aerobic body weight exercises, yoga, running/walking. I thought plenty of women continued to do more intense exercise than just walking while pregnant?

mol2mum · 21/01/2022 15:31

Just been for an early reassurance scan and baby has been dated as 6 weeks and 1 day with a healthy little heartbeat! So I'm now due 15th September. So relieving to know that things are okay after all the worrying I've done and the amount of times I've convinced myself something isn't rightBlush
If anyone else in here is stressing themselves out about anything, just know that all will probably be okay!

I have congestion too. Driving me mad! My colleague who knows said she can hear me breathing so now I'm paranoid about that haha

110APiccadilly · 21/01/2022 15:41

@NewtoUK2021 Last pregnancy, my midwife said pretty much anything I'd been doing before pregnancy was fine. I think there's certain things you have to be careful with towards the end of a pregnancy - e.g. Pilates, but that's more to do with not lying on your back for too long. You can certainly do more than just running and swimming!

NewtoUK2021 · 21/01/2022 15:49

@mol2mum

Congrats!
Are you located in the UK? If so, may I ask where/how you set-up a 6 week scan? My first appointment with a midwife is not until 8 weeks and its a phone appointment, so I have no idea when first scans/tests will be.
Thanks!

mol2mum · 21/01/2022 15:53

@NewtoUK2021 thank you! I went to Tummy2Mummy in Hinckley, the early reassurance scans are for people who are between 7-12 weeks. I thought I was 7 weeks but due to when I ovulated I'm actually 6 days behind.

If you google early reassurance scans UK you should find some that scan as early as 7 weeks xx

madeleine85 · 21/01/2022 16:52

@NewtoUK2021 welcome to your new home, you and I have done a country switch :) The general rules on exercise are don't do anything new, do not overheat in first/third trimesters (first trimester overheating can cause neural tube defects, so big no no, and third trimester can cause early labour which I personally went through), no exercise on your back 2nd trimester onwards, and no abs work also. I lift weights and think it is good to keep up as squats, weights etc will help maintain core strength and help push that baby out when the time comes. Listen to your body when it asks you to slow down and hydrate plenty.

annlee3817 · 21/01/2022 16:59

@NewtoUK2021 hope this helps, was from my midwife, generally can do stuff you did before, just listen to your body, and avoid abdominal stuff like crunches etc I believe

I'm going to carry on with running

Hopingforarainbow27 · 21/01/2022 17:04

Thanks for the info re overheating. Our shower is rubbish so I have to use the bath, I'm scared I've been having it too hot! But also having a lukewarm bath isn't the most enjoyable! Hope I haven't done any harm

madeleine85 · 21/01/2022 17:10

@Hopingforarainbow27 i'm sure you are fine, but don't stay in there too long if you can manage it so your core temp doesn't raise for prolonged periods.

OP posts:
SkaterChick · 21/01/2022 18:13

Hey everyone, wow there's a lot to catch up on!

@Hopingforarainbow27 glad to here your test progressed to 3+ weeks!

@BlueSky57 hope you're doing okay and got some answers

Been a long week waiting for my scan. Went to the epu this morning, they confirmed there is a pregnancy and it's where it should be but wasn't much to see.
I was estimated to be 6+1 based off last period date, going by last period date my ovulation was due 23rd dec. I know I definitely ovulated later than this!
Due to my being really poorly we only dtd Xmas day and boxing day, we then wernt able to DTD again until 2nd Jan as the dude was working lates and I was on earlies.
Anyways I'm pretty sure I ovulated 27th/28th which would make me about 5+3.
When I was scanned they estimated me to be just over 5 weeks also.
I'm booked to go back in 2 weeks to check that it's progressing.

I'm really struggling with sickness and nausea. I can't keep anything sweet down, even my squash was too sweet.
I'm also struggling to keep liquids down so I'm getting really dehydrated (I had to take a urine sample to the epu and it was bloody orange 😂)
Even foods I don't immediately throw back up make me nauseated and fighting the urge to throw up 😭

Mags146 · 21/01/2022 18:16

Did anyone have a massive pain in the pelvic area? I had some pains building up since early morning and about 3pm it hit me hard, it felt as if someone was pushing a finger through my belly button so literally on the top of my uterus... Now its almost gone, but it feels like it might triggered stomachache, its mostly located on the right hand side.... Has anyone experienced anything like that? Very scary 😨

NewtoUK2021 · 21/01/2022 18:30

@madeleine85
Thank you! Those are good tips. Star
Did you move to the States from the UK? Smile

madeleine85 · 21/01/2022 18:48

I just did the early DNA blood testing (which might not be 100% accurate, so taking with a pinch of salt) but it says there is male DNA present, so looks like a boy. I was suspicious it was as I feel nothing like I did when pregnant with my DD. I think i'm happy, but my husband has always insisted he wants girls, so now I have weird mixed feelings. Mainly as I have no idea what to do with boys and don't want to re-learn everything! Still have another month to make it out the first trimester, and through genetic testing though before this is even something to worry about :)

@NewtoUK2021 I moved to NYC 10 years ago by myself for work, and I met my husband 5 years ago when I was there. We relocated to LA 3 years ago where we are now, and will probably stay. I miss my UK home comforts (especially during pregnancy) so please have a costa hot chocolate, a greggs sausage roll and a walk around M&S for me :)

@madeleine85 ah that’s exciting!! You will have to keep us posted. We have 2 dds and my hubby would love a boy but I think we are only going to be blessed with girls as although it’s early days I feel exactly the same as previous. Xxx

annlee3817 · 21/01/2022 20:27

Got my scan in the morning, 8+2, feeling a bit nervous 😬 private reassurance scan, just want it to be the morning already

Aw yes, I will be happy to! Smile

Gemmasl35 · 21/01/2022 23:22

@annlee3817 awe good luck

Pinkflamingofly · 22/01/2022 07:00

@annlee3817 good luck with the scan!

I'm a bit worried, I had a tiny amount of pink last night when wiping after a wee. I'm only 4 weeks. Has anyone experienced the same this early on?

Murphyy · 22/01/2022 07:06
@Murphyy I'm 7+3 and hubbie just tested positive with a hacking cough and sneezing. No way we can reasonably isolate from each other so it feels a bit inevitable that me and DS will get it too, especially with the slightly suppressed immune system in pregnancy.
I've had it twice so far and each time paracetamol, fluids and more rest than you think has helped. Will keep my fingers crossed for a swift recovery for you.
Thank you so much ❤️ Hope you and your family are ok.

annlee3817 · 22/01/2022 07:47

Thanks Gemma and Pinkflamingo

@Pinkflamingofly could it be implantation, usually around the time your period would be due?

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 22/01/2022 08:46

If you have booked an early scan. How far along are you? I'm worried about booking too soon but also anxious. At my ivf clinic they wouldn't book h til after 7 weeks. But obviously with ivf I was certain with my dates. This time. We had sex twice and I was doing opk so I'm pretty certain with my dates?
