@Shabz22 I think if you lose weight in the first trimester from eating healthy and being active it’s fine. However, I don’t think you should be actively trying to lose weight in 2nd, 3rd trimesters at the risk of baby not getting enough nourishment. I wouldn’t have thought any really strict, major calorie deficit would be recommended at any point during pregnancy.

However, I would definitely speak to your midwife’s about it and let them guide you to ensure you and baby are as safe and healthy as possible.

Amazing, a baby and wedding in the same year. So so exciting. We were planning on a small wedding this year but now im pregnant I think we will hold off till both our babies can be there 😍

BlueSky57 · 17/01/2022 12:00

I think cramps and being hungry must definitely be normal judging by the amount of us who have those!

I have lost nearly 8 stone over the past few years so am a bit paranoid that people are going to see me gaining weight at the moment and thinking all my maintaining willpower has gone… I know it’s healthy to gain weight in pregnancy but it does concern me after how hard I worked before.

On the note of food, I am a vegetarian & have been for 18 years now. Anyone know if there’s anything I may be lacking? I eat eggs & cheese but don’t really like cows milk at all either.

Goodgoodthings · 17/01/2022 12:16

Hi @BlueSky57 it's always good to mention to your GP to see if there's anything you're lacking but i'm vegan and had a really healthy pregnancy with DD1 and breastfed her until 18 months despite a few concerned family members. She was 9lbs 7oz so it is possible, obviously as long as you're nourishing yourself with lots of balanced meals (veggie or otherwise!) you should be fine. I did increase leafy greens for iron and switched to the alpro protein milk which I think is really nice (a bit sweet but I'm happy with that!) so maybe worth a try. They also do a chocolate version 😍 also think there is a bit on the NHS website for veggie/vegan diets during pregnancy that is helpful.

I'm also feeling pretty crampy at the moment, I remember with my first pregnancy having this early on too so will just keep a little eye on it.

Anyone else seem to have a a particular day they feel worse, mine seems to be a Monday, wondering if I have a hormone surge on this day 🤔

Shabz22 · 17/01/2022 12:26

@Whoknew22 thanks. I stick to about 1800 usually when losing weight anyway and don't restrict any foods, so I'll continue that until I've spoken to my midwife. I only gained 9lb with my first baby and 12lb with my second so hopefully things will be similar this time anyway 🤞.

I know, busy year for us! Wedding should have been last year but covid meant we needed to postpone. Now we're only having a really small ceremony abroad but actually that's worked out perfectly with the pregnancy anyway. I'll be around 22 weeks when we go so hopefully I'm past the stage of worrying, but before I'm so big I'll be uncomfortable!

cheeseandbiscuitsplz · 17/01/2022 12:49

Can I join ladies, got my BFP yesterday, think I'm around 4+6. EDD around 20th sept so far. This is my third pregnancy, hoping for our second baby after a late loss back in September. Feeling so happy trying to not let anxiety get the better off me 💖🌈

mol2mum · 17/01/2022 12:52

Hey everyone, it's nice to see so many others due around the same time! I'm due 12th September.

Me and my partner are so happy but I can't help but worry and stress about everything I feel or even don't feel. I should probably be grateful that I haven't had any nausea yet but I'm just worried that it means the baby isn't developing properly. I have had other symptoms such as sore breasts, bloating, had cramps midway through week 4 and a weak back but most of these symptoms don't seem to be there as much today. I know I just need to relax though so I don't make things worse! We have a private 7 week scan booked for Sunday just to make sure that things are progressing as they should to put my mind at ease a bit.

Anyone else keep convincing themselves that there's something wrong or is it just me lol?Confused

BntTowers · 17/01/2022 13:02

@Shabz22 last time I got told not to put on much weight, towards the end of my last pregnancy I had gestational diabetes and found that with that diet and walking after every meal I didn't put too much more on, it kept my bump quite trim. I'm hoping to keep going to Zumba (only just started again), keep walking lots and going to try and do a little 10 minute YouTube yoga video most days. I'm also hoping that I don't get gd again as it's such a hassle, not that you can do anything to stop it.

Sleepy86 · 17/01/2022 13:04

Afternoon everyone!

Sent a urine sample to my GP this morning and they've found 2 markers in my sample for a UTI, so I'm pretty convinced that's what's caused my bleed as I had exactly the same with my DD in my last pregnancy. I'm on antibiotics for a week and that will hopefully sort it out, I'm feeling so relieved right now!

Hey yes I seem to over the weekend! Feel like my nausea lasts all day and I am just even more so tired!
TotoAnnihiliation · 17/01/2022 15:03

@Shabz22

Does anyone know much about actively losing weight whilst pregnant? Last time I was pregnant (last May/June) I mentioned it to the gp and said yes absolutely fine, but then I had a MC before I saw a midwife for the first time. Everything I see online says it's dangerous, but I'm really over weight and I'd ideally like to be as healthy as possible towards the late stages of pregnancy and for labour too. Not to mention we're getting married in June and I'd love to lose a few lbs for that. I'm not talking anything drastic, my diet it poor anyway so by making better choices I'm sure I'd naturally lose weight but is this OK?
Reading your post has made me feel less alone. I know I need to lose weight, I am at least 3 stone overweight and wanted to lose weight before I got pregnant, but here I am!

I am so happy to be pregnant, I also know that I need to be healthy. So far, my appetite has disappeared - most food repulses me! I'm going to eat healthy foods and cut out any junk. Im worried about GD.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 17/01/2022 15:17

Someone tell me to step away from the tests!!!!! Confused

monkeyjocks · 17/01/2022 15:23

@annlee3817 Could it be work that is making your symptoms worst? I remember with my 1st pregnancy where I had hypermesis that I always felt better when I was off work. I took a holiday to Spain at 10 weeks and thought it would be miserable the whole time but I was actually fine. It was probably the best I felt in the 1st trimestre.

Ladies, I've been spotting for a few days on and off an decided to call my GP this morning. He referred me to the EPU and they said they aren't too concerned because I don't have any pain and the spotting is light. But they want to see me tomorrow for a scan just to be sure the pregnancy is growing in the right place. I'll be 6+2 weeks, wish me luck! Smile

Keepsmiling2405 · 17/01/2022 15:36

Hi all.

Im 31 and this will be my first baby, fortunately conceived in the first month Shock it was a shock as i had prepared myself for 6 months to a year due to friends experiences!

I am 4+6 (edd around 20th September) anxious/excited, its hard to believe it's happening. I work frontline nhs in ambulances which has increased my anxiety!

I have been having cramps, really sore boobs, headaches and occasional nausea!

Smile happy pregnancy everyone!

Tor88 · 17/01/2022 15:37

@monkeyjocks omg I'm going to Spain at 10 weeks this time!! Delighted to hear your take on it :D though I will be with family and not DH which is slightly stressful (in case something goes wrong). But was worried about feeling ill all the time, but hopefully I'll have the experience you did!!

Best of luck with scan 🙏🙏 im sure all fine xxx

Step away from the tests! There is no need to track line progression! The darkness of a line has no relevance to the health of pregnancy. A line is a yes or no www.parents.com/pregnancy/signs/test/pregnancy-test-addiction/
annlee3817 · 17/01/2022 15:48

@monkeyjocks lol, not work, it is literally only Mondays that I feel really bad, then the rest of the week still rough, just not as bad as a Monday. It's my quietest day as well, I still felt rough over the weekend, just eccaerbated on a Monday.

Sassy144 · 17/01/2022 16:10

@monkeyjocks good luck with your scan! My anxiety is through the roof with my spotting and cramps, but it's too early to have a scan yet.

Glitterygreen · 17/01/2022 16:39

Hopping on :)

Still barely anything symptom-wise for me, I am 6 weeks tomorrow. My boobs feel a little bit achy now (when prodded and squished by me 😂) and still getting the odd cramps but that's it really. No nausea at all. Boobs might look a bit fuller but don't know if that's in my head?

Is everyone planning to wait for the 12 week scan, or going early?

I am sort of tempted to have an early scan just in case anything is wrong - I'd really rather not find out in another 6 weeks from now - but equally feeling I should just wait and see how it goes.

Glitterygreen · 17/01/2022 16:40

Ps. Also really don't want an internal scan as I had one with my MC and hated it, so by the time I could have an external one and definitely have it be conclusive I'm thinking I may as well just wait for the 12 weeks!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 17/01/2022 16:46

@PumpkinsMum18 thanks although I'm not as bad as the person in the article. It's just so hard not to worry but I know it's pointless. My DS was conceived via ivf so this is uncharted territory for me!

Glitterygreen · 17/01/2022 16:46

@girafferafferaffe I feel the same about being starving! I am defo getting hungry quicker than usual between meals but not sure whether it's the pregnancy or just that I ate so much over Christmas that my body is now used to it 😂

Were considering an early scan maybe about 9 weeks ish to check everything is okay cos like everyone else has said I'm driving myself crazy wondering about if the baby is okay etc. but I've got an appointment with the midwife on 6th feb which would be when I'm just 8weeks so I'll maybe mention it and see what they say.

I told work today which made me feel SO much better as I was really worried but my line Mgr was really good and Said he'll check the processes etc as I work in a very male dominat industry so not sure this comes up very often haha!

Few symptoms for me,
Incredible soar boobs, bit of mild period like paid and keep getting really tired 😴

Has everyone else heard back from the doctors/midwife yet?

Glitterygreen · 17/01/2022 17:04

@bailey21 12 weeks is such a long time to wait isn't it - it feels like so far away from now.

Doing my referral tomorrow as the website says you have to be 6 weeks before referring.

Isonthecase · 17/01/2022 17:09

So tricky on the early scans isn't it? I'm on the August group too (not sure which month I'm due yet!) and loads of them are having scans which makes it much harder to resist! Someone shared a pic of the scan at 6,8, and 10 weeks so you can see what you'd get. We did an early one last time and it was reassuring before I told work but I didn't stop worrying anyway.
