@WotsitMum try here lcgb.org/find-an-ibclc/
Also if you’re in any local “mum” groups on Facebook that’ll be good for recommendations

I follow LMJ infant feeding support and Lucy Ruddle on Feb/insta and they both have helpful posts pretty regularly. Worth learning stuff now if you can find time.

For the person who’s having twins (sorry I can’t remember your user name) Kathryn Stagg is an ibclc who specialises in multiples if you’re interested, she’s on fb.

I’m no bf expert but I’ve picked up a lot of tips over the last 18 months so happy to answer any questions if I can

@Capricorn8990 oh completely, he listened to me and understands now he acted that way because of my mc in January and that made him scared to accept this pregnancy, but I said I'm going through something no matter what happens so I'll need him by my side. He's been so wonderful and supportive, and he's been jokingly singing into my belly since lol.

Got my scan tomorrow at 13w, getting quite nervous now, bought some comfort food for tonight and watching a fave movie. Not looking forward to holding a litre of water in my bladder!

Mattieandmummy · 11/01/2022 19:46

@WotsitMum I won't repeat SamanthaVines advice as it's basically what I would have said.

The La Leche League also have a Facebook group and they ran free breastfeeding groups pre-pandemic - no idea what's happened to them since Covid, sorry - but the groups are great for informal get togethers with other breastfeeding ladies.

The Kellymom website is also an amazing resource, basically covers anything you could think of breastfeeding related.

@Lucindaj ahh lovely scan photos! So exciting if you may already know the gender of one of the babies!

@Capricorn8990 definitely!! I feel like I’m getting more used to not having it. I still have my morning tea religiously though!

namechangeanonymous · 11/01/2022 20:05

Hello everybody, due 15th July with our first baby, has been a long road to get here. Feeling on edge at every little twinge at the moment and my mood are all over the place. Would love to join the Facebook group too.

Capricorn8990 · 11/01/2022 21:20

@Hope3821 I'm so glad he understands and listened to you. We don't always realise how mc affects men. That's so lush! Awhh I love it.

Best of luck with your scan tomorrow. What time is it? I had mine in the morning at 08.20 and I held my wee from the night before and had great images! X

Capricorn8990 · 11/01/2022 21:21

@Lucindaj what lovely scan photos! I'm glad all is going well.

@namechangeanonymous welcome to the thread! It can be such a worrying and anxious time and I hope you find ways that you can manage your worries x

nadgersbadgers · 11/01/2022 22:02

@Hope3821 I've got my first scan tomorrow too. Good luck lovely xx

Hope3821 · 11/01/2022 22:36

@Capricorn8990 absolutely. Mc is so tough for the men in a different way, I'm so proud of how he's coped.
Oh wow! I wee about 6 times a night lol! No hope of holding it for me, it's not till 3pm haha!

@nadgersbadgers good luck tomorrow too! Sending positive thoughts your way Smile

My friend has just told me that her baby, who I was holding on Sunday, has got hand, foot and mouth disease and came out in spots yesterday. I’ve googled and can’t see too much info on it but I’m worried now 😩 I’ve just got out of covid isolation on Thursday and now got this to worry about. Does anyone have any advice? I feel okay so far, think I just need to monitor for a temperature.

missv556 · 12/01/2022 07:02

Is anyone signed up to Emma's diary? Are the free packs worth having? I signed up as soon as I found out and tried to download the coupon but it corrupted and I couldn't access it anymore. I emailed them and they said if I gave my postal address they would post the coupon out. That was legit 2 months ago and I've not had anything still. Is it worth chasing up?

feliznavidad2 · 12/01/2022 07:50

@Coco9910 I'd suggest ringing your midwife for some advice? x

emmatake2 · 12/01/2022 08:37

Counting down to my 12 week scan on Friday, it's seemed a long time coming round!

rose7120 · 12/01/2022 09:29

Hello

Haven't posted for a while... impatiently waiting for my 12 week scan next Tues! Full of anxiety still. I had a second sac at an early scan that had stopped growing and I've spent far too long down a 'vanishing twin' rabbit hole on Google! Hopefully all will be okay with the first baby.

@missv556 I haven't had Emma's but bounty do a pack too. Sometimes hospital give them out with appos. They usually have a couple of samples and leaflets!

@Coco9910 sorry you're worrying! Perhaps a quick call to the midwife to talk through your concerns? I know how you feel - I had covid and then the following week had/have a bad cold with a temp. It's so stressful!

Good luck with scans everyone! Up for joining FB if there is a link?

Coco9910 · 12/01/2022 10:12

@feliznavidad2 @rose7120 thank you both! I’m at the doctors later for my flu jab so I will mention it to them there. I feel okay at the moment, but just don’t need the stress 😩😂

nadgersbadgers · 12/01/2022 10:43

@Coco9910 all my children have had that and I didn't catch it. I think you're likely to have had it as a child.

nadgersbadgers · 12/01/2022 10:45

My scan is at 12 and I'm now very very nervous after not sleeping properly last night the fucking dog was allowed to sleep on our bed and then a disastrous morning and can't concentrate on work so sitting on the stairs looking at the door with my water bottle in hand waiting til it's time to leave.

Coco9910 · 12/01/2022 11:34

@nadgersbadgers oh can you only get it once?! I hope so! Good luck with your scan! Hope it all goes well! How we can be expected to work and concentrate around these things I don’t know! 😂

DC1987 · 12/01/2022 12:42

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining :) I'm due 18th july and would love some fellow July mums to be to chat to! I was just wondering if anyone had had their community midwife appt yet? At my 12 week scan they said I need to book in with them but I've not been able to get hold of them at all, bit worrying really! X

annie1994 · 12/01/2022 13:15

@DC1987 I have my 16 week appointment with the community midwife this afternoon. I had to book via my GP surgery though - this may just be the case in my area. Maybe keep trying your midwife (have they got an non-urgent email address?) or could try your GP and see if they can help at all. Hope you hear from them soon!

DC1987 · 12/01/2022 13:39

@annie1994 I did call my GP and they gave me the number so I'm guessing they don't deal with it. Its confusing how its different in different locations isn't it! I'll keep trying as there doesn't seem to be an email address. Hope your appointment goes well lovely x

Coco9910 · 12/01/2022 14:54

I’ve had a weird experience today! I self refered to the hospital I want to have my baby in months ago and had my booking in appointment with them etc. Last week I booked my flu jab through my GP and they sent me to the doctors in the next town with a midwife, so I’ve just had my appointment and she has mentioned I should have all my appointments with her and she’s booked me in for my whooping cough vaccine in a month, but the hospital also mentioned this. If the hospital try to book my whooping cough appointment should I say I have a midwife appointment at the doctors surgery or just stick with the hospital?

The midwife did say at my 16 week appointment she will try and listen to baby’s heartbeat which made me melt!

annie1994 · 12/01/2022 15:33

Just had my 16 week appointment today with community midwife. Heard a strong heartbeat 🥰

nadgersbadgers · 12/01/2022 15:35

Scan went well - just the one baby, dates matched my dates so still due July 17th. Wow there's a real baby in there. I cried. Lots. And cried lots when I came out. And still a bit teary. Then went to work and told my manager - who's instantly stood me down my next two shifts while they do a risk assessment so now unexpectedly have the weekend off work (woohoo). Very very teary. There's a baby in my tummy.
