@Chh0412 @Effram @Mattieandmummy oh thanks ladies this is a relief to hear! 😄

Wow very similar age gaps then, how exciting. How are you finding your energy levels? So tired running after a toddler who wants to climb everything and never sits still 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️

I'm also still feeling quite nauseous, hope it will subside soon 🤢

annie1994 · 10/01/2022 15:49

@SunStruck my placenta was low at 20 weeks but by 32 weeks had moved up and caused no problems. Like the other ladies have said - more often than not it move itself!

ChinChilly · 10/01/2022 17:14

@feliznavidad2 ahh yes I remember your name too, hope you're are well.

@Capricorn8990 we must of done too much for them before now they're not used to it 😂 my OH hasn't said anything but sometimes I can tell by his face he's fed up. I was hoping I'd start feeling better at the magic 12 week mark.

@ShellUK09 Hii, I'm good thank apart from the obvious lol how are you? I've been sipping the lucozade sport the fizzy one can be abit hit and miss, sometimes fizzy drink sometimes cause what I can only describe as something like a science experiment in my stomach 🤣

Welcome @Littletutu 😌

Can I ask what everyone’s opinions on breast pumps are? With my first child I started breastfeeding but really struggled for various reasons. After a couple weeks I hit braking point and stopped breastfeeding, I wanted to pump but I only had a cheap crappy pump - ended up giving up and turning to formula.

I’m tempted to buy a better more expensive pump this time as I would prefer my baby to have breast milk but I may not even need/ want the pump then wasted £100+. I know pumping is meant to be intense. What’s all your opinions 😂

Coco9910 · 10/01/2022 18:28

@Capricorn8990 glad you are feeling better! Yes, I’ve been having a little bit of caffeine each day but I have definitely cut back. My partner has got rid of all the instant coffee and left me with decaf only so today has been a struggle 😂

WotsitMum · 10/01/2022 18:49

@annie1994 i exclsively pumped with my first, for an affordable double electric pump i would reccomend the bellababy pump on amazon, its about £50. I loved the medela hospital grade pump in the hospital and you can rent them but its still very expensive but my local birth centre rented them for just a deposit price and to pay for the pump part set so much more affordable so speak with your midwife about renting a hospital grade pump if your looking into exclusively pumping. Id also recommend the medela hand pump emptied me qwicker than my electric but was hard work on the hand😂

Mattieandmummy · 10/01/2022 18:59

@annie1994

My first was in NICU for a few weeks and I used the hospital expressing room. They used Medala Symphony pumps, couldn't recommend them enough. I rented one for a while straight from Medala rather than buying one as I wasn't planning on pumping long term. It was on a monthly basis and it turned up really quickly. All of the suction head bits, tubes and bottles are new to each new renter - basically any bit breast milk might actually touch is new each time the unit is rented which I found reassuring.

I can't remember how much the rent was but it was worth it for me rather than buying one, plus it was a hospital grade pump so it really worked, for me anyway.

My midwife recommended I borrow one from my local children’s centre with my first whilst she had trouble with latching. It was a medical grade one, and they just charged £10 for the non-reusable parts. I think I kept it 8 weeks but could have extended that. I didn’t find pumping intense, but I had a lot of milk and so could fill the bottle very quickly - I know others aren’t so lucky. Might be worth looking into to save yourself the money while you decide if it’s right for you?
ShellUK09 · 10/01/2022 19:06

@ChinChilly I'm good thanks, it's been a whirlwind of a few months. Most of the day I feel almost reasonable now but then my nausea ramps up again by the evening, usually when I'm trying to cook something! Yes definitely avoid fizzy then! I had a similar experience when trying a garlic and herb salad dressing 🤢

ChinChilly · 10/01/2022 19:20

@ShellUK09 mine is the same it gets worse in the evenings, as soon as the toothbrush goes near my mouth at night it's game over. Ooo the garlic and herb salad dressing incident doesn't sound like much fun. Tbh I think I tried to cut back on the anti sickness meds too soon and set myself back 🙄

Has everybody told all thier families? My parents know and I was going to tell the rest of my family on Saturday but Friday night my cousin's partner gave birth so I guess I'm waiting for that baby dust to settle first, feels abit odd to announce so soon after thier baby has been born.

annie1994 · 10/01/2022 19:25

@WotsitMum @Mattieandmummy @shell4890 thank you very much! I will talk to my midwife about how I can go about renting a hospital grade one. Least if I’m renting, if I don’t get on with it, I can just give it back and not waste a huge fortune!

Thanks 😌

nadgersbadgers · 10/01/2022 19:58

Any one else struggling? I'm feeling V low about the fact I just look like a flump at the moment. Not a bump just fat and none of my clothes fit.

ChinChilly · 10/01/2022 20:02

@nadgersbadgers Yessssss!! I can't even do any of my jeans up 🤣 but i don't think there is any bump there..I've just ordered some oversized jumpers and leggings, I hate leggings but gotta do what ya gotta do at this point!

nadgersbadgers · 10/01/2022 20:35

Ah @ChinChilly I hate it. I've put a stone on - feeling crap! I've bought some maternity clothes on Vinted but don't really feel I can wear them while I'm trying to still conceal this pregnancy and I'm only 13 weeks! Not even had a scan yet. Might all be in my head.

ChinChilly · 10/01/2022 20:45

@nadgersbadgers I'm just over 13 weeks too but by the evening I look 6 months pregnant. I've lost a few pounds but only down to my constant vomiting! My friend actually told me to get some maternity stuff just for comfort at the moment, so get em out and get them on if they make you feel more comfortable 🙃

Hope3821 · 10/01/2022 21:37

@Effram thank you so much for your answer re homebirth. Definitely getting the positive birth book, it looks fabulous (not patronising like A LOT of things I've read so far!). Where I am the maternity hospital have very high induction/intervention rates and poor visitor hours even pre-pandemic. Thinking of travelling home to my mums, but that would mean a good 3 months away for birth and recovery but she does have much better options (midwife-led birth centres etc) nearby her. At least there's options.

Thank you to the other lady who also replied to me, so sorry I lost the comment & your @name.

@Capricorn8990 my hubby and me had the big chat (slight fall out haha) recently because I really needed him to transition now to being connected to my pregnancy. They dont realise how quickly we need them to understand and adapt to our big change! So glad you're both feeling better. It's tough to navigate our first pregnancy.

SunStruck · 11/01/2022 01:57

@annie1994 I bought Spectra S2 secondhand and it's the best thing I've ever done! It's so powerful and quick, saved loads of time while I could build up a big freezer stash! My best baby purchase for sure 😄

SamanthaVimes · 11/01/2022 06:11

@annie1994 if you had problems last time you might be better off spending the money on an ibclc visit if you run into trouble again (especially if your nhs provision is patchy like so many places).

Exclusive pumping is definitely harder long run than direct feeding.

Mattieandmummy · 11/01/2022 06:40

@annie1994 second that suggestion on a lactation consultant, I used one. Yes I had to pay for it but the lady I saw was worth her weight in gold, checked weight gain, checked my latch, helped with positioning and how to feed lying down. She gave me so much confidence that all was fine and I went on to bf until 26 months.

Firsttimemum38 · 11/01/2022 08:17

Hey ladies a bit of advice please, I'm taking progesterone pesarries and 11+5 with my scan on Monday. I've had two previous scans and baby one didn't develop past week 6 and baby two had heart beat at both eeek 6 and week8+3. But yesterday morning I had a bit of pink when I wiped but thought I may have caught my cervix with the pessarie. Then this morning I've wiped and it's slightly brown with a bit of snot like stuff. As I had a miscarriage last year I'm Paranoid something is wrong. Has anyone had anything similar. I know the drs won't do anything as I have my scan on Monday! Help!

Rather than a week of hell- I would book yourself in for a private scan to check baby’s heartbeat. Search private baby ultrasound- ultrasound direct, ultrasound plus, babyvue and window2thewomb are some private providers.

Prices are about 65-70 quid. There is very good availability generally and you may be able to be seen tonight or tomorrow.

No stories or similar here but sending love- I think it’s best you are checked rather than worrying.

Lucindaj · 11/01/2022 12:52

Hi all, just thought i'd add a little update. Had our 12 week scan last week and both little twinnies doing well. Still can't believe it.

Due date is now 13th July but the consultant said if all is well they will be born by c section on week 37, so June at some point.

Sonographer thinks Twin B is a boy going off the nub theory but the umbilical cord was between Twin A's legs so she couldn't see. We've booked our gender scan for the end of the month because I can't wait any longer haha.

Capricorn8990 · 11/01/2022 14:45

@Coco9910 thank you! I think that's been the most difficult thing to cut back on don't you think? Decaf just doesn't taste the same 🤣

@Hope3821 how did he react to that? Was he understanding of you and your needs? They do need to understand that we need support and for them to go through it with us xx

WotsitMum · 11/01/2022 18:27

@SamanthaVimes & @Mattieandmummy how do i fibd a lacation consulant?! I wanted to breastfeed my first but ended up exclusively pumping due to lack of help. i want to try my best this time to breastfeed as i know how hard it is exclusively pumping and it will be even harder with 2 under 2!
