@Totallyblue that's great you got to hear the heartbeat so early! Haha I'm usually the same, I'm really organised but something about this pregnancy has actually made me more laid back than usual. I do however have a very detailed list of things we need, so it's simply a case of adding to basket once I'm ready Grin are you going to find out the sex of your baby?

Totallyblue · 13/02/2022 18:28

@kizboBaggins Because we had an NIPT we already know - it's a boy! Are you going to discover yours? I know some people like the surprise but I had to know at the earliest opportunity 😂

KizboBaggins · 13/02/2022 18:51

@Totallyblue ahh that's amazing, congratulations!! Have you thought of names yet?

We find out 3 weeks tomorrow. I was tempted to do a private scan to find out early but we'd already spent on one at 8 weeks cause I couldn't cope with the uncertainty, so I'm trying desperately to hold off and save the expense! Tbh I'm completely convinced it's a boy anyway!

Morning!

Anyone else make the mistake of starting This is Going to Hurt this past weekend? Not our smartest move haha Confused

(I really don't advise it unless you're not squeamish/horror birth stories don't phase you. Although we're on episode three now so will just keep going ha!)

Porridgeislife · 14/02/2022 11:22

@heya101 I binge watched the lot over the weekend. I actually really enjoyed it and I thought it got better after the first two episodes. I’m listening to his book and it’s a lot more nuanced than the series - eg “brats and twats” was a university reference to obs/gynae, not what the NHS calls it behind its back.

It did dawn on me that it wasn’t a terribly clever idea at 20 weeks pregnant but erm, it was useful seeing what a c-section entailed?

Porridgeislife · 14/02/2022 11:25

@Totallyblue we also found out the sex (girl) at our NIPT! Like you I wanted to know asap.

MollyRover · 14/02/2022 12:05

Just found out that we're having a boy!! Couldn't be happier that we'll have one of each, was beginning to even feel a bit guilty for wanting it so much just in case we were having a girl. Can't tell anyone until my firstborn is home from school so I'm DYING!!!
The sonographer explained to us that they don't disclose gender with the NIPT where we are due to a risk of gender selection. Made me feel horrified and desperately sad at the same time.

Thought it was hilarious. Absolutely LOVE Ben, it's going to be a super series I'd say.

Ah yeah I read the book years ago but totally forgot he was an obstetrician even! I am really enjoying it now that I've got past the shock of watching what's (vaguely) to come, but my partner still makes a face during the c-sections (he doesn't like when their hands go INSIDE people haha. Doesn't help that I'm wanting a c-section either I suppose).

Totallyblue · 14/02/2022 17:52

@kizbobaggins I am dead set on Theodore - Teddy for short. My partner is mostly on board but wants to shop about a bit first! I find boys names harder than girls for some reason 😂

@porridgeislife Congratulations on the girl! I just had to know as well - that way I could buy the 'right' clothes (not that there is anything wrong with boys in pink if you like it!) Little bump will have a wardrobe full of dungarees, for some reason I am obsessed 😂

Totallyblue · 14/02/2022 17:54

@MollyRover Congrats on the boy! I had never heard them of not disclosing at NIPT, that would have driven me insane! But at least you know now. 😊

SamanthaVimes · 14/02/2022 17:55

@heya101 we started watching it the other day, like it so far but as you say bit of a tricky time to watch it!

KizboBaggins · 14/02/2022 19:07

@Totallyblue what an absolutely adorable name! I love it! Did you know straight away or did it take time to decide?

I've found boys names easier than girls to be honest. I've "narrowed down" both lists to about 10 for each lol. Top right now is Vinnie (Vincent) for a boy and I like Rae for a girl (which DH is coming around to!) - but I'm also afraid to commit to any one name lol, it's such a big responsibility!

Porridgeislife · 15/02/2022 06:53

Ladies, I have discovered a miracle cure for pregnancy constipation - lentil soup.

Made a vat of the stuff yesterday and I have not felt this light in WEEKS. My husband doesn’t quite appreciate how life changing this is, but I’m sure you all do Grin

Porridgeislife · 15/02/2022 06:56

(I’ve literally tried everything and even tot up my food on My Fitness Pal to check I’m getting 25g+ of fibre. No Weetabix, pears, prunes or dried fruit have worked like lentil soup!)

Capricorn8990 · 15/02/2022 08:25

Has anyone has the covid vaccine (pfizer) during pregnancy and been really sick (physically) and can't move from body aches? I'm worried now 😞 I had it yesterday before our scan!

KizboBaggins · 15/02/2022 09:14

@Capricorn8990 I had Pfizer whilst pregnant and was thankfully fine. However quite a few people I know (not pregnant) suffered the same as you - some vomiting (only once or twice) and full body aches. So it sounds like it's a common(ish) reaction but obviously I have zero medical training and if I was in your shoes I'd be calling the midwife just to reassure myself! Hope you're feeling better soon.

KizboBaggins · 15/02/2022 09:16

@Porridgeislife another vote for lentils - we've been eating quite a lot of them in my second trimester and I've suffered a lot less!

Effram · 15/02/2022 10:02

@Capricorn8990 I had Pfizer and I didn't vomit but I was really achey for 24 hours. Try to rest and have sips of water and hopefully it will pass quickly! feel better soon x

@Mattieandmummy and @annie1994
Glad I'm not the only one with early risers... I got until 5.50 this morning - what a lie in!

I actually really dislike Adam Kay and the book, haven't watched the series - I feel like it really dehumanises the women involved Sad

Capricorn8990 · 15/02/2022 10:36

Thank you @KizboBaggins and @Effram I have called the doctor and had a telephone app but cos I brought up blood whilst being sick they are seeing me face to face and I've had to do a urine sample.

I'm so worried I've done something bad with having the vaccine but I was also scared about getting covid later in pregnancy and being unwell 😞 catch 22 xx

Effram · 15/02/2022 11:07

aww @Capricorn8990 I really hope you feel better soon. I am sure the baby is fine. It could be a coincidence with something else - I had a terrible sickness bug last week (the whole family did) and I know lots who've had it. That baby is well protected in there, you will be taking the hit to protect your baby!

Capricorn8990 · 15/02/2022 11:29

@Effram thank you! I hope you're feeling better now? The doctor did her tests, my blood pressure is a bit low but all other tests we good. She signed me off for a week which I'm so grateful for as I desperately need it. I don't care about me as long as my baby girl is well looked after xx

KizboBaggins · 15/02/2022 15:04

@Capricorn8990 glad you've seen someone and got some time to rest! As @Effram said I also had a stomach bug last weekend - hadn't thrown up at all in pregnancy so was definitely not morning sickness related. Midwife reassured me baby would be fine and it would only be me that suffered Grin I also have low blood pressure. Midwife said she wasn't worried but seems odd to me! Spose it's better than having high bp!

Totallyblue · 15/02/2022 17:53

@kizbobaggins Vinny was in my top few! Such a lovely name. Rae is so cute too! I think my problem is I am a teacher so when I hear a name I picture a child and teenage boys aren't known for their stellar behaviour and attitudes on the whole 😂 A lot of names have been ruined for me that way.

Totallyblue · 15/02/2022 17:56

@Capricorn8990 I had a pretty bad reaction to my Pfizer booster while pregnant, but it cleared up after a few days of bed rest. Glad you have been given time to rest!! Hope you feel better soon x
