I am fed up of being sick now 😢 I'm 18 weeks today and it hasn't stopped!

CaptainCarp · 04/02/2022 10:34

@MrsKirb with my friends someone has always organised 1 for them... So not sure if 1 of my friends will!
It's a good excuse for everyone to meet up really & share the celebration of the pregnancy.

All the ones I've been to have been about 4 weeks before the due date though so a little time away.

@Capricorn8990 oh no... Has it eased at all?
Have you got some anti-sickness medication from the doctors?

I'm also not one for fuss and I only got married last year but the planning was so stressful that I said I would never plan another event again! My friend thought that just close friends/family meeting for afternoon tea somewhere and playing some little games around the table would be nice so I've agreed to that. There would be less than 20 of us and each pay for whatever cakes or coffee we had so no pressure or stress on me and she's going to organise booking tables and some games.
I'm happy with that plan, it'll be summer and I live near the coast so would be nice to do it somewhere on the seafront, and may be the last social thing I get to do before baby. Plus, means I can get nice gifts 😂

Coco9910 · 04/02/2022 12:17

@MrsKirb my sister has been asking me about one and asked for any location ideas as I live away from my home town so it will be held around where I live. My main thought is I feel bad asking for people to contribute towards it which is what most places seem to offer, like a £10pp deal. I’d have it at home but I don’t want to feel like I’m hosting so I’m really stuck. But yes it’s a while away but I keep thinking do I need to get somewhere booked in the next month or 2 so that we don’t struggle to find somewhere 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m not one for a fuss either but I think it would be nice to get everyone together and celebrate the baby before they arrive 🥰

NamelessBaby1 · 04/02/2022 13:15

@paintfairy glad I'm not the only one, haha. Was bad enough with my hen do and that was literally just a meal out somewhere lol. My sister will probably want me to have one, but it's my mum's big birthday shortly after baby is due so in hoping that will take up all the event planning for the year!!

paintfairy · 04/02/2022 13:35

@NamelessBaby1 I was the same about a hen do! To be fair I'd happily go for lunch with friends or something. But the present buying etc i think it's really rude. If they want to buy gifts once the baby is born then that's up to them. But having a party and expecting people to bring gifts i just don't agree with. And if anyone ever invites me to a baby shower I'll be saying no. 🤣

ChinChilly · 04/02/2022 13:46

Well we just had our gender scan... but i have no gender news because baby's legs were firmly crossed, even after a walk, small bottle of OJ and an ice lolly they were still crossed 🤣 so back next week for another go! At one point baby was actually lying there with its hands up behind its head.. extremely chilled out 😅

paintfairy · 04/02/2022 13:51

@ChinChilly nooooo! I fear this for mine. 🤣 Awkward baby!

NamelessBaby1 · 04/02/2022 13:56

@paintfairy haha, I've only ever been to one and it was pretty cringey so definitely didn't help me swing towards the idea of having one! They are still fairly uncommon here anyway which is good.

@ChinChilly that's funny, love that they are nice and relaxed even if they are causing you grief haha. Glad I've decided just to have a surprise and not worry about the sex!

ChinChilly · 04/02/2022 14:08

@paintfairy I had a feeling it was going to happen! Not only were the legs crossed but the cord was also inbetween the legs so there was no hope 🤣 I actually don't mind because any scan for me is just reassurance that everything is plodding along as it should be. Have you got your gender scan booked?

@Namelessbaby1 I know! Haha the ice lolly got them wiggling around but still kept the legs crossed.. little monkey! I think a surprise is nice, I'm just far to impatient!

paintfairy · 04/02/2022 14:12

@ChinChilly yes it's booked for next Saturday when I'll be almost 17 weeks. You are right though- at least you still get to see everything is OK, because it's ages until the 20 week scan.
@NamelessBaby1 yes I've only been to one too! Luckily I don't really know people that have them either.

ChinChilly · 04/02/2022 14:16

@paintfairy Ahh lovely! Well I'll keep my fingers crossed there's no leg crossing for you! It does seem like a long gap between 12 & 20 weeks. I haven't even had my 20 week scan appointment and I'm 17 weeks tomorrow 🙄

ShellUK09 · 04/02/2022 14:20

@ChinChilly awwww fingers crossed for next week, I might be going for one next weekend too if I can get booked up. It's all exciting 🙂

Capricorn8990 · 04/02/2022 16:35

@CaptainCarp it has eased as in its not everyday but it's still there 😞 just got no energy and my blood levels were fine so it's not anaemia. I have been prescribed cyclozine but as I'm not being sick everyday I don't take them daily. Maybe I should! I'll speak to my midwife if it continues past 20 weeks xx

ChinChilly · 04/02/2022 16:59

@Capricorn8990 my doctor told me I needed to take cyclizine regularly for it to work, try taking one in the morning and one early evening for a few days and see if that helps.

Capricorn8990 · 04/02/2022 17:40

@ChinChilly ah thank you for that! I will start doing the same xx

ChinChilly · 04/02/2022 18:22

@Capricorn8990 it took a couple of days for me to start feeling the benefits but it definitely stopped me throwing up.

I know there is a few of us from Birmingham on here, I'm not sure which side but I went to a lovely scan place in solihull today called cherished moments, and they've got a discount code on their facebook page at the moment so the gender scans are on £29.99 if anybody is interested.

Totallyblue · 04/02/2022 20:57

Hello everyone, am I alright to join in? Due July with baby #1 :)

Capricorn8990 · 04/02/2022 21:09

@ChinChilly really glad you're feeling better!

@Totallyblue welcome!! Xx

Totallyblue · 04/02/2022 21:27

@Capricorn8990 thank you!!

Pecorella · 04/02/2022 21:32

Hello! I've been following this chat for a few weeks so wanted to say hi 🙂 I've enjoyed reading your posts and it's nice to find a group of people who are going through the same experience. I'm pregnant with my first baby and due 8th July. It still feels surreal at times that there's a little human growing in my tummy, but it's getting more real as time goes on! I had a private scan a few weeks ago just to check everything is ok between scans as it's too early to feel movement...sometimes I feel little twinges here and there but no idea if it's the baby or not! I was also impatient to see the baby again, and to find out the gender! We're having a girl ☺️ Congratulations to everyone on your pregnancies and I hope everyone is keeping well....and that those of you still suffering from nausea, get some relief soon.

@capricorn8990 I think we are both 18 weeks today, so I guess you're due around the same day as me. I'm also a Capricorn, haha 😄 Not sure if that's why you chose your username though!

Take care everyone x

SoMuch2Say · 04/02/2022 23:03

Anyone else have nothing to wear? None of my clothes fit me anywhere not just on the waist!

SamanthaVimes · 05/02/2022 06:27

@SoMuch2Say all of my normal clothes don’t fit me now, I broke out my maternity clothes from last time a few weeks ago! Bit depressing as I don’t really have many clothes I actually like now.

missv556 · 05/02/2022 07:41

@ChinChilly my little one was doing the same pretty much when I went last weekend for a scan, lying face down with his legs crossed, little rascal 😂 luckily after a walk, a fizzy drink and a lollipop he cooperated and moved.
I wish I'd known about that scan place in Solihull. I went to a place in acocks green called hey baby, I went there for an early scan at 6 weeks also and I'll be going once more for a 4d scan around 26 weeks. They've been nothing but friendly and professional. The girl on the reception even remembered me from my first visit so that was a nice touch as well, made it less clinical and more personal
