@SoMuch2Say same here, really need to go shopping. Been living in my h&m maternity jeans, but I do need more clothes as I live in a zip up hoodie most days. WFH so can get away with dressing like this but you get bored of wearing the same thing! Can't seem to find many places to buy from which sounds ridiculous, but when in a shop I find there's a tiny maternity section or none at all, so think I'll be better off looking online.

Woke up at 5:30am today (as usual!) and to kill time was listening to a podcast. Found a really useful and entertaining one by Jessie Cave called Whenever it Kicks and she was talking about essential kit to buy for a newborn. Added a Milton sterilising unit to my list of things I will need as it sounds so handy and easy to use. Need all the tips I can get as this is all new to me!

Totallyblue · 05/02/2022 08:03

Due to first trimester bloating I haven't been able to wear my normal clothes for months! Ebay maternity clothes have been a god send, and I was so over the moon when my love legging maternity package arrived because finally I could wear trousers again 😂

paintfairy · 05/02/2022 08:50

I'm struggling with clothes too. But I don't want to spend loads on things that'll never be worn again. 🤣 So far I've bought maternity jeans from ebay, some normal jeggings from ebay (elasticated so they stay up!), and some bras from matalan. But even they are beginning to seem snug again, so I'm not sure if I'll end up going up another size. 🙄

ChinChilly · 05/02/2022 08:56

@missv556 I know the place in Acocks green, I had an early scan there with my last pregnancy but that ended in MC a few weeks later so I feel like it is slightly tainted for me, not their fault though! I actually don't live too far from there.

I don't fit in any of my clothes either, I'm at that awkward stage where none of my normal stuff fits but the maternity stuff I've got is too big 🤣 and I keep getting major nip slip out of all my bras ffs 🤣

I have such a limited wardrobe of maternity stuff unfortunately. I have a problem that I was already a good size 18 which is top end of size in a lot of places so buying up a size or two doesn't really work.

WotsitMum · 05/02/2022 13:50

Seccond pregnancy and if im honest with you i didnt invest much in my last pregnancy in maternity chlothes and i wount be this time... ive got 2 pairs of maternity leggings and 2 pairs of maternity jeans, it gets easier as you get into the summer months, stretchy or flowy dresses/skirts are key, then you can wear them after pregnancy. Tops wise just buy flowy strechy tops, maybe a few maternity tops and loose cardigans. This is me at 20 weeks in my last pregnancy, wearing a strechy material dress from primark, not maternity wear, i contunued to wear it untill summer ended so about 6 weeks more, i could have probably wore it till the end but it would have been too cold!

I was hoping to get a few 2nd hand maternity pieces but apparently only size 10/12 people buy maternity wear round here 😂

Anyone who is bigger & wants trousers for work. Bonmarché have ones in their "tailored" section which have a stretchy waist so I've brought a pair in my usual size but they'll give me a bit of room for growth.

@Totallyblue I bet we’ve been bidding against each other Grin

UncomfortableBadger · 05/02/2022 20:29

Well these aren’t maternity leggings but they’ve been MEGA comfortable for me since 15 weeks when bump started to become more pronounced. Super thick, very high rise, massively stretchy and water repellent so ideal for dog walking. I find jeggings and maternity jeans so uncomfortable at the minute but I can manage in these Smile

UncomfortableBadger · 05/02/2022 20:33

@CaptainCarp You’re a superstar! Have been struggling to find navy suit trousers for work as most brands only go up to a size 16 - just found loads of elasticated options at Bonmarché on your recommendations. Thank you!

CaptainCarp · 05/02/2022 21:46

@uncomfortableBadger I actually had a really lucky find as I brought the 1st pair in a charity shop!
I went into bonmarché today to check if they still did them. I've really struggled to find work trousers as all maternity wear seems to be jeans.

@ChinChilly aww sorry about your mc, totally understandable you'd feel a certain way about things from that time. I don't live too far from acocks green either, about 10 mins drive away in moseley. I'm there often, as my midwife is based there, my friend lives there and I occasionally go to the shops there.

I brought a few pieces of maternity clothing in the January sales from h&m/new look and I'm not ready for them yet. The trousers I got are too big at the moment lol all my regular clothes still fit for now surprisingly. I'm a bigger girl as well at a size 18

Totallyblue · 06/02/2022 06:58

@somuch2say maybe! 😂There have been a few times where it has been down to the last few seconds in a bidding war! I get so carried away and a competitive side leaks out 😅

SamanthaVimes · 06/02/2022 09:15

Anyone else with a toddler climbing all over their bump? Do you know if there’s a point I should get worried about baby?

I’ll try and get hold of my midwife to ask as well of course but interested in anyones experience

Evie345 · 06/02/2022 09:16

Ladies, I’ve just had a bit of a scary night. First time pregnancy (17+3) and having painful aches in my lower abdomen, a shooting pain in my belly on my right side and lower back pain. Could this be round ligament pain?

Yesterday I lifted something heavy without thinking and now I’m terrified I’ve hurt baby :( seeing midwife tomorrow for 16 week appointment so will mention to her. I’ve been using a heat pad overnight on my belly and back which helps. Has this happened to you? Do you have any advice on what to do to ease the aches?

I’m kicking myself for lifting something so heavy. So hard not to do things on reflex sometimes!

SamanthaVimes · 06/02/2022 09:20

@Evie345 I’m sure your midwife will reassure you. Everything in pregnancy is so worrying isn’t it!

It’s really hard working out what you can’t do that you used to do without a thought, I definitely did that last time and overdid it a few times. With lifting I think you’re more likely to hurt yourself than to hurt baby.

UncomfortableBadger · 06/02/2022 09:35

@Evie345 I had similar at 16-17 weeks but unlike you, I hadn’t been lifting anything - it just came on in the middle of the night whilst resting. The shooting pain was very brief but I had a dull ache afterwards.

I spoke to the midwife the next day at my 16w appointment & she was sure it was just round ligament pain as it was momentary and not accompanied by any bleeding etc. Apparently 15-20 weeks is when round ligament pain is most likely to strike.

annie1994 · 06/02/2022 11:06

@SamanthaVimes yes my 17mo keeps climbing all over me. I try and not let him go near belly just incase!

Capricorn8990 · 06/02/2022 12:16

Does anyone else cry or get in a state and feel bad because you don't want baby to hear or sense it? I'm feeling rubbish cos my partner just seems depressed at the moment and I can't do anything to please him. I suggest things to do but nothing is good enough and I just let it all out 😞

paintfairy · 06/02/2022 14:29

@Evie345 yes sounds like round ligament pain. Sometimes happens if you sit up quick or sneeze too (the shooting pain). I also get pulling pains as well occasionally. I think it's normal.
@SamanthaVimes Dog, as opposed to toddler. 🤣 But I put my hands there now so that feet can't push into my belly.

strawberrysummer19 · 06/02/2022 14:49

I've felt as it a lot of my uncomfortable and bloat and ligament pains I was getting have all gone!
I'm 15+5 have my midwife on Wednesday so can't wait to hear the heartbeat for some reassurance as I feel so comfortable apart from an obvious bump and boob itchy ness etc but it's gone from a pretty rough 12 weeks to a bit plain sailing! Don't have exhaustion like I was having

Certainly not complaining! Just a little worried and feel the wait to my 20 wk scan and also not having a date is soooo long!

X

UncomfortableBadger · 06/02/2022 16:20

@strawberrysummer19 Just to forewarn you, don’t get overly hopeful & expect to hear the heartbeat at your 16 week appointment. At my 16 week appointment I was told that our local midwives aren’t doing any at all “due to Covid” Hmm

Even for areas where they don’t have the blanket “no”, it seems to vary midwife by midwife as to whether they’re willing to do it - my friends in other areas have had completely differing experiences.

SamanthaVimes · 06/02/2022 16:58

@strawberrysummer19 @UncomfortableBadger midwives by me don’t do the heartbeat at all, not at any of the antenatal appointments

ChinChilly · 06/02/2022 17:00

@missv556 I think my midwife may be based at the same place as yours!

@Evie345 I agree, sounds like round ligament pain.

@SamanthaVimes I'm the same as @Paintfairy no toddle but a 30kg labrador who thinks he is a lap dog!

@strawberrysummer19 my midwife listened to the heartbeat last week, but it took ages to find and I don't think it is the done thing across the board.

@Capricorn8990 that sounds really tough, don't worry too much about baby though I cry all the time at stupid stuff 🤣

I'm 17+1 and I'm yet to start feeling better although I'm not really throwing up anymore I still feel nauseous most of the time and absolutely nakered by the afternoons... where is this 2nd trimester energy boost 😭😭
