They retracted the offer because they said I couldn't work the entire length of the fixed term. It was 6 months fixed so would have come to an end end of july/beginning of August.

AppleTree16 · 28/01/2022 11:07

I would definitely get in touch with pregnant than screwed and speak to citizens advice. That’s really crap 😢

missv556 · 28/01/2022 12:08

Yeah I'll look into it. Wasn't sure it was worth pursuing in all honesty.

Just found out my anomaly scan has been pushed back by 2 weeks 😔 that means a whole month until I find out the gender now

namechangeanonymous · 28/01/2022 15:32

@Elsols93 WHAT!! That's an amazing bargain!!

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 28/01/2022 15:51

Just need to… aaaaaaaaaaargh

13 days until we find out if it’s a boy or a girl. Why is it not mid feb yet??? Why is time going so slowly!!!! Aaaaaaargh Grin

Oh no!!! That’s rotten news when you’re so close to it
missv556 · 28/01/2022 16:48

Early scan for the gender is looking very tempting now more than ever 😋 I'm 16 weeks on Sunday and I just can't see myself holding on another 4 weeks to find out. Too impatient for that lol

Quick google and I found this, you should definitely contact citizens advice

@missv556 I 100% am sure that is classed as discrimination, I would contact ACAS - who give free employment rights advice, they should tell you the next steps that can be taken and signpost you

Mattieandmummy · 28/01/2022 19:18

I'm also pretty certain this is discrimination, we had a similar thing with one of our team at work. Her 6 contract was almost up when she announced and my boss renewed her contract for another year no questions asked and they openly said it would be illegal not to as it would look like they were discriminating against her for being pregnant.

I guess the question is though although what they have done is wrong, do you want work somewhere like that?

SamanthaVimes · 28/01/2022 19:26

@missv556 I’m pretty sure what they’ve done is illegal. Definitely speak to ACAS.

missv556 · 28/01/2022 19:36

Thanks for all the advice ladies

@Mattieandmummy never mind working there, they are my actual gp surgery as well 🤣 I would have had to move if I started the job but I was thinking about leaving long before that anyway. They suck to put it mildly!

Mads96 · 28/01/2022 20:29

Just had my gender scan and baby did not want to behave at first but we finally saw and we are having a boy! I have a DD and she is very happy throwing the confetti everywhere!! I think she is just loving the confetti really 😂

Coco9910 · 30/01/2022 09:00

@Mads96 congratulations! Glad baby played ball in the end 😂

I got my screening results back yesterday for downs, Edwards and patau’s and they were all “low chance” so that was one less thing to feel anxious about ticked off. We have started to receive baby clothes gifts off family so the wardrobe is starting to fill with baby clothes 🥺🥰 and collected the next to me crib and poddle pod off my sister to borrow, feels a bit more real having this stuff in the house!

Capricorn8990 · 30/01/2022 09:18

@Mads96 yay I'm glad you got to find out!

@Coco9910 ahhh that's fab news ❤️ all feels more real doesn't it!

I'm a bit worried about my weight gain, or lack of.. I've had bad sickness so think it could be a factor but I'm only .9 of a KG lighter than I was when I was booked in at 9 weeks.. should I speak to my midwife? I'm now 17+2 and my tummy is looking like this

Hi ladies! It’s been a little while since I posted but have been following the messages. Hope everyone is doing well. Comgrats @Mads96!! We had a scan yesterday which showed we’re having a baby boy too!

@missv556 I am really surprised your employer would risk that - seems like an automatic pregnancy discrimination case. Hope you get some good advice from ACAS etc. Best of luck, not nice to have work stress when already going through so much.

I wanted to ask if anyone has bought maternity clothes yet? I’m 16+3 now, my regular leggings are a bit tight around my tummy and my vests are rolling up!! I’m debating buying a couple of sizes up in regular clothes or spending the money on maternity stuff - is it just me or are maternity clothes more expensive than regular ones?!

ChinChilly · 30/01/2022 10:22

@missv556 Ouch, that was abit shitty of them! It's definitely some kind of pregnancy discrimination but it's whether you can be bothered with the hassle of raising a case against them.

@Capricorn8990 I wouldn't worry too much about your lack of weight gain I'm 16+1 and weigh less than I did pre pregnancy. I was quite abit lighter at my 12 week scan compared to my booking in appointment at 8 weeks and they didn't bat an eye lid.

@Evie345 Boohoo had some bargain maternity cloths a few weeks ago, try asos and very aswell they quite often have maternity stuff in the sales.

Congratulations on everyone finding out if thier having a boy or girl! I think I'm going to book one in for Friday next week, our friends have roped us in to doing little gender reveal thing, we were happy not to but hey ho... although I am convinced we're having a boy.

Anybody suffering with heartburn? I had to make a dash to boots last night for some gaviscon but what the hell is up with the texture of that stuff 🤢 I struggled to swallow it without heaving.

namechangeanonymous · 30/01/2022 13:56

We went for our gender scan yesterday, would seem we're having a very stubborn baby!! The sonographer dug around for a while but would baby show its gender, nope, ended up going for a walk, still no and she even had me doing these weird movements on the bed to try and get baby to move. Nope! Think baby was having a lazy Saturday.
Back next week. Was very disappointed as we had got ourselves very excited but we got to hear the heart beat we got reassurance of baby being OK so that's all that really matters.

annie1994 · 30/01/2022 14:25

I know it’s quite personal, but is anyone else suffering from mental illness this pregnancy? I’ve suffered with clinical depression and anxiety for nearly 10 years. I was doing so well before this pregnancy and was on the lowest dose of antidepressants I’ve ever been on in those 10 years. But last few weeks I feel so low and cry all the time. I have a phone call with the mental health midwife next week, not sure what they’ll say. With my first child I plodded through pregnancy quite well so didn’t need their input. Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar boat?

HatHatHat · 30/01/2022 17:32

@annie1994 I’ve sent you a PM x

missv556 · 30/01/2022 18:19

I caved and went for a gender scan earlier. Found out I'm having a baby boy 💙 I just knew, mothers intuition lol heard the heartbeat for the first time too, it was strong and baby was very active. I even got to see a 4d image and he was smiling

@namechangeanonymous I had similar issues. Baby was positioned face down and legs crossed. Sonographer had me wiggle my hips about to try and move baby, didn't work. She had me go take a walk and said if I drink something sugary it might help. I was given a can of lilt and a lollipop in the waiting area and just paced up and down the hall. Went back in after maybe 15 minutes and luckily little man had moved enough to see what we needed to see lol

namechangeanonymous · 30/01/2022 18:34

@missv556 I was told the sweet thing too ended up scoffing a bag of fruit pastills from aldi and downing a bottle of lucazade. If somebody saw me they would think I had gone a little crazy how I was scoffing them!
Major sugar down yesterday afternoon!

MrsKirb · 30/01/2022 18:53

We had our gender scan today too and we're having a little girl 🥰
I was convinced it was a boy so I'm not off to a good start with mother's intuition but soo happy to be having a girl!
Our pictures aren't great, she's face on in most and the side profiles are much nicer, but we saw what we needed to 😊

WotsitMum · 30/01/2022 19:42

@annie1994 the mental health team that supported me my last pregnancy were amazing! This time at the moment i feel like im doing okay at the monent but my midwife have let them know im pregnant again so they can just check in with me from time to time, they have given me the same lady as last time which is lovely 🥰

WotsitMum · 30/01/2022 20:44

Anyone else got special occasions to attend during this pregnancy? My first i was pregnant practically the whole of lockdown so didnt have any occasions to attend to. Ive got a christening in april and my sisters wedding 10 days before my due date and im a bridesmaid! Shes happy for me to still be a bridesmaid and buy after my 38 week growth scan, if i get that far, my first was early so who knows if this baby will go full term or be early, i could be attending her wedding with a new born!

Anyone reccomend anywhere to get maternity occaison dresses?
