@Effram it’s so crazy how different things are based on where you live!

My last pregnancy they didn’t listen for heartbeat at any community midwife appointments, although once I can feel the movements I won’t mind as much, would be nice to have a bit of reassurance the little bean is still in there for now!

Coco9910 · 20/01/2022 15:43

@SamanthaVimes I’ve contacted the midwife and she said she will try access the GPs system and book me a 16 week appointment. She said she will try and listen to the heartbeat but said they might not be able to hear it early on so I’m trying not to get excited by that.

@Effram I’ve just checked my maternity notes from the hospital which has my appointments on the back and I have E my 20/40 scan on 11th March when I will be 20+1 then I have an appointment 6th May for bloods. No other mention of a 20 week appointment. Hopefully I will get this 16 week one sorted and I can find out more info!

Coco9910 · 20/01/2022 15:44

@Lianna93 oh really? I wouldn’t be confused it she hadn’t written down the appointment date and time and what it was for. My midwife that I see for community appointments is based at a different hospital so I feel a bit all over the show 😂

WotsitMum · 20/01/2022 18:03

My last pregnancy i didnt see a midwife till 25 weeks due to covid and beeing in lockdown, i had a midwife ring me at 16 weeks to let me know my scan results and blood results and to check in seeing how things are going

MrsKirb · 21/01/2022 10:37

I didn't see my midwife face to face until I was 13 weeks. My booking appt was done over the phone at 11 weeks and I was told that I should be taking an increased dose of folic acid (high BMI) up until 12 weeks but only had a few days left to take it!
I know things are stretched right now but I'm a nurse and I've worked right through covid, just seems like policies are more important than patients at the moment.

spongemoon · 21/01/2022 12:15

Hi all, 16 weeks today with my first baby! Excited but soooo nervous… about everything… like how is my body making a baby right now?! Blush

Going for a private well-being and gender scan tomorrow morning - I don’t know how some of you have the patience to not find out. I envy you!

Also wanted the scan as although my screening results stated low risk, the interpretation was still 1 in 180 for down’s which I feel is quite high?! So hopefully the private scan will put me at ease tomorrow. If not then midwife has said I can go for more tests through nhs but I know these tests carry risk of miscarriage… so much to think about Sad

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 21/01/2022 12:59

@spongemoon have you thought about NIPT (eg Harmony)? It doesn’t carry the same risk of miscarriage as amino, and is more accurate

WotsitMum · 21/01/2022 13:27

@MrsKirb agree with policies are more important than patients right now! I hope they relax the 1 birth partner and only the birth partner is allowed to visit by the time i give birth, i had that rule with my first and i felt so isolated as i spent a week in hospital with just me baby and partner.

CaptainCarp · 21/01/2022 13:39

@MrsKirb I had a booking appointment at 10 weeks & got given high dose folic acid to take.
I forgot they said until 12 weeks as im still taking it (3 days left) & that explains why she didn't mention it the other day!

Have you been put on aspirin as well?

I think mine being so late was more the "fault" of the receptionist as i rang at 4 weeks & they said oh we've got plenty of time to get you in & so booked later.
(I'm not blaming them as they didn't know)

OP posts:
MrsKirb · 21/01/2022 15:01

@CaptainCarp yeah I'm on 150mg asprin. Since it was over the phone I was offered a prescription for folic acid to collect the next day but I had plans all day so just said no as wasn't worth taking it for a day! I took a couple more of the ones I had but they're only 400mcg and I'd have needed loads. Hopefully it won't have any impact on baby.
My referral was made when I was 4 weeks and I chased it when I hadn't heard anything by 9 weeks but was just told they're really busy.
I was craving cereal for the first few weeks so I probably got plenty folic acid from there!

WotsitMum · 21/01/2022 15:14

How long did you all wait for the 12 week scan screening results? I had my scan new years eve so 3 weeks ago now. I was told no news is good news and i would get a letter with the probabilitys in the post if risk is low but no letter yet

missv556 · 21/01/2022 16:43

@WotsitMum I had my screening done on the 7th January, the results were published to my badger app on the 14th and my letter came on the 17th. So 10 days all together. I was told 7-10 days was average

CaptainCarp · 21/01/2022 17:12

I think my results took 2-3 i had my scan just before Christmas so in someways may have been quieter...

What is the badger app @missv556 I've noticed it being mentioned a few times

OP posts:
missv556 · 21/01/2022 17:28

@CaptainCarp badger notes is an app where your maternity record is stored. You can view appointments, see your blood test results etc. I like it and check it regularly, as things are published on there before they arrive in the post.

strawberrysummer19 · 21/01/2022 18:52

I was told my screening bloods would go to my midwife after 7 days, my scan was on Wednesday So I guess that doesn't mean my midwife would call after 7 days, depends on her workload?maybe longer

Hoping no phone call though as that's only if it's bad news, letter is sent if all ok

My friend got a phone call 2 weeks after her scan though and is now waiting on nipt results and was told 5-10 days - think that's quite long and we are in the same area.

What's this badger app? Is that only in certain areas as haven't heard of it?

X

CaptainCarp · 21/01/2022 21:49

@missv556 I wonder if its certain areas... My trust have a patient portal but it doesn't show any of my appointments which is annoying!
It has reports/notes from my appointments on it though.

Hello ladies I've been very quiet on here. Hope everyone is doing well.

We found out yesterday we have been blessed with a baby boy 🥺 we are so pleased, I also felt him moving for the first time yesterday felt like popping inside my stomach & I heard his heart beat for the first time - felt very surreal and lots of tears shed ❤️

Sonographer also told me I have an anterior placenta although when googling doesn't seem to have much difference

missv556 · 22/01/2022 08:23

I'm from Birmingham so badger notes may be area dependent.

@purpleskyssssss how exciting! Did you suspect you were having a boy at all? I'm convinced I'm having a boy, ever so tempted to go for a gender scan lol

deliwoman1 · 22/01/2022 08:47

@purpleskyssssss Congratulations! That's lovely news. Smile I've been quiet on here too, but had a similar week. My midwife let me hear the heartbeat at the 16 week appointment, and then we had a private scan to check and I found out we're having a girl! I still haven't felt her move but both my midwife and the sonographer kept saying she was very active. I also found out my placenta is low. Hoping it moves up before the big day.

Coco9910 · 22/01/2022 09:21

Congratulations @purpleskyssssss @deliwoman1 lovely news! 🥰

CaptainCarp · 22/01/2022 09:32

Congratulations @purpleskyssssss & @deliwoman1
I got to hear the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment. Little fidget bum kept moving but i can't/couldn't feel it!

@missv556 I've had to search a bit but it looks like i found a list on badger app that shows which trusts are joined up.
Birmingham was on the list but I'm just over in Dudley & they weren't listed.

ChinChilly · 22/01/2022 10:41

@missv556 👋 I'm in Birmingham too!

@WotsitMum my screening results were on the badger app the next day followed by a letter about 5 days later, seems like the use of the badge app depends on area.

MrsKirb · 22/01/2022 18:25

I don't agree with doing the thought of doing away with all covid rules in a couple of months, but I'm willing to get on board if the visiting hours on maternity wards go back to normal 🤞🤞

crazyhairbear · 22/01/2022 19:19

I'm also worried. I work in a hospital in a frontline role and the thought of people knowingly walking around with covid scares me a little bit. Up until now we had to work from home from 28 weeks but I think that will change before I reach that point
Mattieandmummy · 22/01/2022 20:23

I'm quite worried about relaxing all the covid rules too, can't help thinking this is not a good idea! Just hope by the time we get to July the case numbers are really low, I'm having a C-section and the thought of a protracted stay in hospital really worries me.
