The badger app is instead of the paper notes, its all uploaded to an app, its not got good reviews and its new to my hospital as i only had my first 14 months ago and his notes were all paper which i prefered! Your supposed to be able to contact your midwife by messaging through the app but it says the function to do this is disabled on my account untill my booking in is complete and due to a shortage of midwifes my 'booking in' appointment is at 16 weeks. The comunity midwife office never picks up the phone so any problems/questions ive had so far ive had to ring the triage midwifes at the hospital and they are hit and miss with awnsering the phone too!

The shortage of midwifes has seemed to get alot worse since my first when there was also a shortage but not as bad as this! Im so worried about after care of birth, it took 15 minutes for my buzzer to be awnsered with my first, god knows how long it will be this time!
Once again im not scared of giving birth its the hospital stay after im scared of, beeing alone and vunerable after visiting hours. My partner had to leave 3 hours after my c-section with my first as visiting hours were up and i still wasant fully with it, felt dizzy, shaking from all the drugs still, couldnt lift my baby, couldnt feel my legs, yet was left alone to care for my new baby, i rang my partner crying as i didnt even know when my baby was last fed or needed feeding next, my baby started crying and i pressed the buzzer for help to lift him to me and sat for 15 minutes waiting whilst helplessly watching him cry😢

WotsitMum · 22/01/2022 20:56

My results for the screening came in the post today! Very low risk!

Anyone else getting wisdom teeth coming through? My first pregnancy i got a bottom wisdom tooth come through and now im getting my top wisdom tooth poking through. I wonder why my body decides pregancy is a good time to cut a tooth haha!

SamanthaVimes · 22/01/2022 20:57

@WotsitMum I’m really worried about the lack of midwives as well. I was lucky enough to be able to go straight home from the delivery room with my first and didn’t have to spend time on the ward but had to go back in for a couple of hours a few days later to have a catheter removed and it was so horrible.
I really don’t think I’d have coped if I’d had to stay in without my husbands support. It’s absolutely ridiculous that they expect you to!
I can’t think of a worse place to establish feeding and rest after birth.
Fingers crossed me and baby will both be well enough to go straight home again this time.

NamelessBaby1 · 22/01/2022 21:54

@WotsitMum that's hilarious about the wisdom teeth - maybe it's some sort of subconscious preparation for going through baby teething, lol.

Re hospital stays, I've never had to stay an overnight in hospital, in fact have been fortunate enough to have avoided going for anything other than a couple of x-rays over the years. I really don't like having to visit other people in hospital, so that's really the one thing about the whole experience that I'm dreading! I'm just hoping I'll be so caught up with the baby and whatnot that I can handle it. Thankfully the hospital is only 10 minutes from home so my husband won't be far away if I do have to spend much time in.

annie1994 · 23/01/2022 06:23

Like you all, I’m scared of the hospital stay once I’ve given birth. I know I have to stay in for a minimum of 48 hours because I’m on anti depressants so they have to monitor baby 😭

With my first son (Sept 2020) my partner was with me from delivery and wasn’t allowed to leave and come back so he had to stay with me the whole time so that was much better (even though he had to sleep on the floor on like a gym mat). This time because we already have a son, if he’s allowed, he’ll have to leave me overnight to look after our boy 😭

I’m just worried of the whole labour/ recovery/ postpartum… everything!!

missv556 · 23/01/2022 07:15

@ChinChilly are you having your baby at the women's hospital too? I am, my sister works there so I feel I'll have the best chance of being well looked after lol its my nearest hospital anyway

I've never stayed overnight in hospital so the thought of doing so after birth is not an exciting one. My friend had a baby in 2021 and was in for 4 days and hated it. I imagine you just want to go home with your baby asap

MrsKirb · 23/01/2022 07:25

I work at the hospital I plan to have baby in, and I've seen patients on maternity withih my role so I'm hopeful that my experience will be ok 🤞

ChinChilly · 23/01/2022 08:38

@missv556 Yeah I'm going to the womens my nearest hospital is actually Solihull but I'm not sure what they even do there now most of the services have been moved elsewhere! I was sent to the womens after my MC and I've been there quite abit this pregnancy with early scans and extra blood tests, I haven't got a bad word to say about them based on my experiences so far.

I think I'll just prepare myself for a hospital stay then if I don't need to... bonus. I've never stayed in hospital so it's abit of a scary thought.

Capricorn8990 · 23/01/2022 09:00

@Effram sorry for the very late reply! I did discuss the results with my midwife who is an angel and she said they were really good results and I need to try and focus on the positive! I have been pushed to the top of the list for vitaminds and have been offered intensive CBT sessions for it which was really effective for me too. I did mention the late date for the perinatal mental health app but she said that's the earliest they have as they've been so busy which I do understand. Thank you for your kind message.

I had a private gender and well-being scan yesterday at 16+1 and found out we're having a baby girl! I initially thought a boy and then when seeing the scans I thought boy and I had 3 dreams about her. On Friday my mum also found some pink confetti on her bedroom floor and thought it was a sign 🥺. Feeling more and more real now! Xx

missv556 · 23/01/2022 11:41

@ChinChilly yeah my mum works at Solihull and I asked if they do maternity and she doesn't even know herself 😂 I thought it was best to go to the women's seeing as they're the specialist hospital. No complaints so far and I've been there several times so far as well

ChinChilly · 23/01/2022 18:44

@missv556 haha I'm not entirely sure what they do actually do at Solihull now? I know they had maternity services a few years ago but on for low risks births and if something went wrong you would have to be blue lighted up to heartlands because there's no paediatric doctors there or something?! Yeah a few of my friends have given birth at the womens and speak highly of it, its abit of a drive for me but i think it's worth it

purpleskyssssss · 23/01/2022 19:53

@missv556 I thought up until 2 weeks ago I was having a girl, but then 2 weeks ago I had a very vivid dream of me giving birth to a baby boy & my partner shouting 'it's a boy' & I just had a feeling then!

laurenGame · 23/01/2022 22:40

I've stayed at hospitals about 5 times and I love them ! Grin you just do nothing and chill and have food brought to you and don't have to do any cleaning or cooking or anything really. Having so many doctors nearby is really soothing, too.

Maybe I am the odd one out with this view Grin

laurenGame · 23/01/2022 22:43

Having some cramps recently and they're worrying me, anyone else having any? Feels like a long sharp needle stab. I don't know what's normal and what's not Sad

Plus my OB asked me at 16 weeks: feeling movement yet? I said no he said you will be the next time I see you (20 weeks)

I'm now 17 weeks and keep thinking should I be feeling kicks by now? Whyyy would he say that. My placenta is at the back so he said I should be feeling them soon but now I worry I won't feel them Grin

Lianna93 · 23/01/2022 23:08

@laurenGame I'm still getting cramping too but believe it's still our bodies trying to adjust to the constant growing our babies are doing 🥰

I was speaking with my mum today about feeling the baby move. She said to look out for what feels like little pops & the best time to feel for it is when you're lying down in a quiet room 😁
I've been convinced I've been feeling movement but now I'm not sure because my scan yesterday showed my placenta is at the front 😞 Might more be I can feel the placenta moving when baby is kicking - which isn't nearly as exciting 😩

bonnieb9 · 23/01/2022 23:31

Hi all,

New to this- first time mum and very very anxious. I had a miscarriage in January and this pregnancy I have been blessed with no symptoms at all but as a result my worry is through the roof. Due 2nd July.

Is anyone else considering a planned caesarean?

Mattieandmummy · 24/01/2022 07:13

@bonnieb9 sorry to hear about your miscarriage in January.

I've pretty much decided on a planned section, my daughter's birth was traumatic to say the least, one of those horror stories where everything you can think of goes wrong. I should say at three she is a medical miracle and absolutely fine but it's been a long road to get to three. For a long time I was too frightened to have another one and I'm definitely too frightened to go down the vaginal route again.

strawberrysummer19 · 24/01/2022 07:50

I'm too considering a c section but I must say I haven't given it too much thought
Purely because I said I'd have a think about it when I'm 12 weeks after my scan
I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and I feel I'm putting it off
I had a traumatic natural delivery with my daughter 10 yrs ago and even when I talk about it I feel the emotion
I think it's because I'm scared from it
Nothing happened compared to nearly dieing or loosing blood but it still traumatic and I'm not sure what to do for this birth
I have I still have loads time to think about it

I've requested my birth notes from my daughter as I think reading through may help me decide possible
I really am in two minds on what to do

I'm also consultant led due to ivf, age (39) and a previous thyroid issue so I'm thinking I can ask my consultant and midwife as some Ivf are induced at 38 weeks I'm being told

X

MrsKirb · 24/01/2022 08:23

I'd prefer a planned csection but not sure whether they would let me. I have a high BMI and know that causes an increased rate of emergency csections. I have friends who were fat and needed them, and the emergency sections just sound awful so if it's going to happen I'd much rather have some control over it. Feel like they'll say no though if I ask.

I keep thinking I can feel movement but not sure. I'm 16wks and was laying down last night and was sure I could feel something but there's so many different twinges and popping happening all over my belly, it was probably just wind 😂

missv556 · 24/01/2022 08:48

I would prefer to have a c section too but any women I know with children that I've asked have looked at me like I've got 2 heads for wanting one over a natural birth. I believe I'm more than likely going to need one due to my bmi and my blood pressure issues anyway. I see my midwife next week so I can run through it with her I guess.

I've not felt any movement yet either really. I felt a little flutter one of the days but not felt anything since. Still early, I'm 15+1. Been feeling some light cramps, which I've put down to things stretching to accommodate the child. My main thing has been my pelvis area, it gets so sore if I walk too much

strawberrysummer19 · 24/01/2022 09:22

That's the thing - people don't tend to understand but I believe it's up to you and I wouldn't dream of judging anyone as everyone is different and has their own story to tell so try and block others out in the nicest way possible

I think I read (maybe) that your chances of emergency section are higher with being induced so if I was told I have to be induced if he thinking maybe electric c section would be best

When do we have to decide ? X

Andariego · 24/01/2022 09:52

Hi everyone, I’ve just found this thread - I’m due on the 23rd July. I’m also in Birmingham and booked in at the Women’s @ChinChilly @missv556 👋

Capricorn8990 · 24/01/2022 09:55

@laurenGame I am getting pains still hun. Usually at night when I'm relaxed as I heard that baby wakes up as the motion of when you're up and about sends them to sleep xx

Capricorn8990 · 24/01/2022 09:55

@Andariego welcome! Love having new members. There is a Facebook page to join too if you'd like me to send you the link? Xx

Andariego · 24/01/2022 10:02

Thanks for the welcome @Capricorn8990, I’ve actually deleted my Facebook app as part of my new year’s resolution to cut down on social media use… thing is I’ve discovered mumsnet is now taking up all the time that Facebook used to Grin
