@Capricorn8990 anytime from 10 weeks, but I think they say after 20 weeks it's less useful as can do scans to check as baby is bigger so can see easier.

I had it done at 10.5 weeks.

Hope your scan goes well @journeytomum ! I would not worry too much about bladder - don't make yourself uncomfortable but maybe don't pee right before, they can always send you to the loo if they need! At my hospital it says don't pee before any scan before 24 weeks.

I'm feeling pretty good at the moment but time is going too fast, I'm 17+1 already. This is my last pregnancy and I'm feeling sad it's whizzing along without time for me to think about it, work is very busy and my boys keep me on my toes. I am so excited though, and it's nice now I'm not feeling nauseous all the time. I have noticed I get an achey pelvis after super physical days esp if I do lots of carrying of my sons. But have been being mindful of that and doing lots of yoga and have a belt to support it so hopefully I'll catch it.

I want to start doing a bit of hypnobirthing prep too just to start building it in, I am sure last time it really contributed to such a positive birth as I just was in the habit of listening to the relaxation tracks and practising the breathing every day so it felt v natural and comforting.

I am hoping to keep working as close up to the date as possible but will have to see how it goes!

JJ1992 · 18/01/2022 10:12

As Im due late July Im just 13+ 3 today and im feeling the second trimester energy return thank god! Just feel more motivated to take care of the house again which was badly needed.
I've totally flipped from wanting to eat all the rubbish I can get my hands on to barely able to eat full meals, especially in the evening my stomach is so painful and uncomforable! Definitely seems to be GI pains as its higher up and i can see the bloat 😂 has anyone else experienced this? I was wondering if this might be related to all my organs moving up?
Still find Im properly hungry like 2-3 hours after eating through the day though!
Arent our bodies amazing..

namechangeanonymous · 18/01/2022 12:30

OK... time for people to tell me I'm being ridiculous. I've read you shouldn't over heat but I am freezing cold and want my heated blanket over my legs. Am I doing baby harm?

SamanthaVimes · 18/01/2022 12:56

@namechangeanonymous Put the blanket on your legs, warming up to normal temperature isn’t going to overheat you.

Capricorn8990 · 18/01/2022 13:22

@Effram thank you! What do the results come back like? Is it similar to the NHS combined screening? Have my 16 week app on Friday with my midwife so will speak to her then about it.

@namechangeanonymous you'll be absolutely fine with the heated blanket on you xx

namechangeanonymous · 18/01/2022 13:33

Thank you for your reassurance. I can't help but think of the Monica bang clip in friends with my nervousness thus far.

Effram · 18/01/2022 13:45

@namechangeanonymous you can definitely have a heated blanket on you!

@Capricorn8990 it's a bit more detailed than the NHS screening which is a sort of probability calculation. NIPT still gives you a probability but it's from screening for genetic markers in the baby's DNA is it's much more accurate. The clinic rang to say everything was ok then emailed the report over :)

Capricorn8990 · 18/01/2022 14:01

@Effram ahh amazing, I don't know whether to pay for it because it's more for my anxiety.. it's got worse this past week with worrying about abnormalities although my results from the combined screening were good.. hate being a natural worrier! May I ask who you went with to get it done?

Effram · 18/01/2022 14:03

If your combined screening results were low risk then I really don't think you would need to have this as well, but obviously it's up to you! I just want with a local clinic that was convenient to get to - I think the Harmony is pretty standardised tbh!

CaptainCarp · 18/01/2022 19:04

I told my boss today as I'm 16 weeks & I've got my 16 week appointment tomorrow.
Boss was happy for me they were only worried that they might let something slip to one of my colleagues 😂. They assumed I'd already told them but I've only really started telling extended family & friends in the last few days.

I'm also getting javelin/lightning vagina (not pleasant!) & a few lower belly aches. I assume its to do with things stretching as baby grows.

Hi all, im 15 weeks first pregnancy. Ive never been so worried! Just as i was starting to get over the first trimester anxiety ive started getting what i assume is round ligament pain and i panic every time! I have a gender scan booked for next week but im more excited for reassurance that baby is ok. Is anyone else as neurotic as me?

Capricorn8990 · 18/01/2022 20:43

@Effram I'm just such a worrier having OCD I can't stop worrying about everything that could go wrong in pregnancy. Definitely will speak to my midwife as she referred me for perinatal mental health support back in beginning of December but my appointment isn't until 22nd February and personally feel that's far too late because the main fears are during the first trimester and second and I'll be 20 weeks pregnant by then. Thankfully I'm at the top of the waiting list for CBT through vitaminds now which is great. Thanks for your reply x

Capricorn8990 · 18/01/2022 20:46

@CaptainCarp glad your work took it well! The stretching is definitely what the lightening crotch is as so many of us are getting it around this time! Crazy feelings isn't it!

@MrsKirb it's constant isn't it? I have diagnosed OCD and I worry about everything, in fact I worry if im not worrying.. cos it's not normal for me not to 🤣. I also have a gender and well-being scan booked but like you feeling the same way. Such an anxious time and worse if you're naturally a worrier x

NamelessBaby1 · 18/01/2022 21:19

@MrsKirb you're definitely not alone! I'm trying not to dwell too much on things that can go wrong - my hypochondriac other half does enough of that for the 2 of us haha. But I'd be lying if I wasn't half expecting to see blood every time I go to the loo, and every time I get a wee twinge I'm wondering if it's just my bowels adjusting or something going wrong with the baby. It's horrible! Don't think I'll be at peace until I'm actually holding it in my arms.

laurenGame · 18/01/2022 23:13

@Effram please reach me how to wish for the time to slow down As I am the opposite - feel that time is dragging (I'm 16 weeks), i keep checking calendar every single day that I'm a day closer. I don't know how to enjoy the pregnancy and not just constantly feel frustrated that time is not going fast enough.

Also, where did you do hypnobirthing ? I'm really keen to get into it

strawberrysummer19 · 19/01/2022 07:01

Hi everyone

Just reading through the previous posts and glad I'm not alone

I have been feeling anxious and have had regular early scans which seem to help but then it's on to the next worry!

I have my 12 week scan scan (13+1) and worried about the screening results and worried if I should have done private nipt just incase I get bad results - maybe because it's happened to my friend who has to now wait another 5-10 days and she's 18 weeks so just think it's soo long to wait

Hopping my scan will be ok even though I had a scan at 11+4 as my fiancé can't make todays one I feel so nervous xx

MittensForKittens123 · 19/01/2022 08:17

I had my NT scan on Monday and everything was looking good, got the blood test results back on the day as well, and they were also low risk - which I had really been worried about so it was a big relief! I told my sister on Monday night (first person we’ve told), and that’s made it seem more real! When did everyone else start telling friends etc?

namechangeanonymous · 19/01/2022 08:30

Also searching for the enjoyment glowy happy stage 😞 i feel as rough as anything at the moment and am just not enjoying it which makes me sad as baby will be an only more than likely so I will only experience pregnancy once. I'd settle with feeling like brushing my hair at the moment 😕

missv556 · 19/01/2022 08:43

I'm also in the beginning stages of experiencing some stretching/pulling and lightning crotch. It's...different lol I just had to breathe through it for a few seconds.

@MittensForKittens123 I told my parents, sister and a few close friends immediately after I found out. I found out super early so I probably shouldn't have but its my first so I was just too excited. I havent told another soul since. I was gonna do the whole social media announcement thing once I hit 12 weeks, then I decided to wait until I got my screening results back to make sure everything was low risk (it was) and I still haven't bothered doing it and thinking I may wait until 20 weeks now or maybe not bother at all

NamelessBaby1 · 19/01/2022 09:15

We told immediately family at Christmas, as I was nearly 12 weeks by then and knew they would all be thrilled (will be the first grandchild on my side lol). We did a Facebook post once we'd had the 12 week scan so we knew everything was looking ok, and have just been telling people as I see then since. We aren't doing any of the screening tests and whatnot so didn't feel we had to wait for those.

literallymotherhood · 19/01/2022 09:23

Hello, I'm new here! I'm due 1st July 2022 and it's my rainbow baby. Super excited and nervous, but mostly full of anxiety.

I had a miscarriage in June 2020 and since finding out I was pregnant again I've been full of anxiety. Had an early scan to make sure there was a heartbeat. 12 week scan was good and screening came back all fine too.

I'm now 16+3 and although I had my consultants appt a week ago, I'm full of worry something's wrong even though I have no reason to be? I felt flutters previously but now I'm not sure if I am?

Midwife said she heard the heartbeat, but me nor my husband definitely didn't. The appointment felt rushed and now I'm worrying about what if it wasn't the heartbeat?

Has anyone else been in this position? I understand that anxiety is a part of every pregnancy, but it's exhausting constantly worrying.

missv556 · 19/01/2022 10:37

Just found out my anomaly scan will be 14th February ❤ just under 4 weeks until I find out if my alien is a boy or girl. I'm so excited!!! I feel its a boy, have done for weeks tbh. Watch me be wrong haha

I have mine on 15th Feb! I'm not finding out the gender, but had a feeling it's a girl from the beginning.
crazyhairbear · 19/01/2022 11:51

@literallymotherhood

I have mine on the 18th feb and I don't think I want to find out the sex either. My DH wants to but I like the idea of a surprise. I feel it's a boy though 👶🏻

CaptainCarp · 19/01/2022 12:31

Just found out my 20 week scan is 18th feb too @crazyhairbear

We won't be finding out the sex as I want a surprise & so i don't get really "gendered" clothes off people.
I've already got a mix of peter rabbit, dinosaurs & jungle themed sleep suits/ babygros.
