I’m having my first bath of the pregnancy and have used our bath thermometer we got for the baby’s bath as I can’t be trusted to not run a bath hotter than the centre of the sun, so I’ve got the bath at 36-37 degrees which is body temp. But I still feel a bit funny about sitting in warm water. Please tell me I’m being silly and it’s totally safe. Also..bubble bath..yes or no?

nadgersbadgers · 16/01/2022 20:43

@Coco9910 you're being silly.

Go have a hot bubble bath.

nadgersbadgers · 16/01/2022 20:44

@Lillibob1991 everyone is my house had COVID over Christmas- I'm triple vaxed and I've previously had COVID - I didn't get it this time round.

namechangeanonymous · 16/01/2022 21:08

I've brought a baby bubble bath 🤭 haven't had a bath with it yet.

Coco9910 · 16/01/2022 21:29

@nadgersbadgers I did..it was lovely!

@namechangeanonymous I might get some..make myself worry less 😂

Capricorn8990 · 17/01/2022 08:35

I haven't bought anything for the baby yet as waiting til our gender and well-being scan on Saturday. I'm still nervous.

Last night I had what I can only describe as electric shock feelings in my stomach.. they came and went but I was worried about what it could be. Has anyone ever had this? Xx

ChinChilly · 17/01/2022 09:07

@Capricorn8990 I've had a few sharp twinges, they don't last long. I googled it and I think it's round ligament pain.

Has anybody thought about pushchairs? I don't want to buy one yet but obviously it is one of the bigger purchases and I want to try get my head around what we'll need. The icandy ones are 😍 but I'm not sure if they score well practically. I am clueless about pushchairs!

Capricorn8990 · 17/01/2022 09:09

@ChinChilly yeah I think it could be that or lightening crotch!

I had a look at the ickle bubba prams as they have lots to choose from and do larger travel systems.. however like you have no idea what to go for! Xx

Lianna93 · 17/01/2022 11:49

16 weeks tomorrow & feel worse than ever 😩 Managed 2 out of 4 of my shifts over the weekend before having to phone in sick because I literally couldn't stop throwing up & now that's me had to take this week off due to how I'm feeling.
Been prescribed anti-sickness tablets which definitely help but feel they make me drowsy which means I can't drive.

Anyone else still struggling?

I have my gender scan on Saturday & I genuinely can't get myself excited for it right now 😞

HopefulBeth · 17/01/2022 11:55

Haven't posted since the previous thread so hi again everyone! Had my 16 week midwives appt today (16 weeks tomorrow) and all is well! Went for a private gender scan on Friday and baby was uncooperative so going back for a rescan on Sunday - if anyone is on the fence about paying for extra scans and in the position to do so I would absolutely recommend! So reassuring to see baby is growing properly and they even sent us the cutest video of baby hiccuping Grin

I've also been having round ligament pain, mainly when I stand up too quickly or turn over in bed without taking it slowly - if anyone has any tips to help ease it please let me know!

I’d recommend getting to a shop where you can try them out. With my first I thought I’d decided on one looking online but when we saw it in the shop it was so bloody heavy!
We ended up getting the uppababy cruz (I’d convinced myself I wanted the vista but glad we went to try them out for real before buying)

I’m now trying to decide on if I need a double pram or not (my first will be 2 when new one gets here and not sure how cooperative she’ll be with walking by then, at the moment it takes an age to get anywhere!)

I had the same with feeling drowsy after nausea tablets (couldn't work and just fall asleep) - told GP, he said 'no problem' and prescribed me different nausea meds. they work perfectly for me and no drowsiness, no sickness.

He said there are manyyyy meds on the market it's just whatever works for each individual- you just have to raise it with the GP and they should give you different type. Good luck x

laurenGame · 17/01/2022 13:23

@ChinChilly @Capricorn8990 I've experienced similar and Google told me it's 'lightening crotch pains' - so random and I wondered at first if it was contractions 🤣
so many things we have to go through! I had ligament pain as well and the lightening crotch is a bit more scary

namechangeanonymous · 17/01/2022 16:33

Is anybody else wondering how they are going to keep working full time closer to the end of the pregnancy? I have quite a stationary job and reasonable flexible working but my god I'm exhausted.

NamelessBaby1 · 17/01/2022 16:57

@namechangeanonymous I'm just so glad to be working from home, and that I'm unlikely to need to be back in office any time soon; as well as working Flexi hours! I wouldn't be able to cope with the commute at all, in basically logging off work and having to go for a nap every day! My heart goes out to everyone having to do physical jobs who can't just sneak off for a wee nap or decide to have a slightly later start, as it's bad enough even with all that!!

namechangeanonymous · 17/01/2022 17:49

Oh god I know like I work very close to home so my commute isn't too bad at all but I have new found respect for shop workers / restaurant workers etc who are on their feet all day they are super women I don't know how they manage it.

WotsitMum · 17/01/2022 17:55

@SamanthaVimes im currently looking at the cosatto wow xl as my first will be 20 months when baby comes and hes currently a lazy 14 month old who has no intrest in walking yet! The cosatto wow xl can be used as a double or a single and when in single mode theres a built in buggy board that can be used!

Anyone else in worry mode? This is my seccond pregnancy and with my first i had terrible sickness that didnt stop untill i gave birth. This time i ran out of the anti sickness tablets saturday so on day 2 of no anti sickness tablets and i feel fine, no nausea or sickness, its worrying me so much that somthing is wrong and my 20 week scan isant untill 23rd feb, ill be 15 weeks tomorow. I cant wait to start feeling the kicks as that will put my mind at ease! Debating to book a private scan to put my mind at ease, i had 4 private scans with my first as i was constantly worried!

WotsitMum · 17/01/2022 17:58

@namechangeanonymous i work in a hotel, i only work 2/3 days a week in the resturant but going to ask to be trained on reception soon so later in my pregnancy i can be sat down more! I worked full time in the resturant right up to the day before with my first, i dont know how i done it!

ChinChilly · 17/01/2022 19:14

@Lianna93 the anti sickness medication made me feel like a zombie for the first few days but i did settle down on them, I still take 2 a day but I'm day 6 of no vomit (thank god) I'm going to try ease of them slowly because i really don't want to go back down that road. You can either try sticking with them for a few days or ask your GP for something else.

@SamanthaVimes definitely going to go and try some out, you can never be sure online.

@Capricorn8990 @laurenGame oh god lightening crotch, seriously parts of pregnancy are not fun men don't know how easy they've got it.

On the subject of work, I do a mixture of at home and in the office and I think as I get further along I'll probably do more at home. At the minute I hate work because there is so much going on so I can't wait to go on mat leave purely because of that but for now I am hoping to work as late as I can

stellarfox · 17/01/2022 20:13

Hello is there a Facebook group? My friend is due and I loved my mumsnet groups and told her about them and she’d love to join!

SamanthaVimes · 17/01/2022 22:10

@WotsitMum I was just thinking about booking another scan as I’m a bit worried. First pregnancy I felt bloody awful and this time round I feel worryingly normal, my anomaly scan is on the 24th so the day after yours and it feels like a really long way away.

I can’t wait until I can feel kicks again so at least I can check in on baby that way and know they’re probably ok!

journeytomum · 17/01/2022 22:18

Hi everyone!
I have my dating scan tomorrow morning. The letter says that I do not need to go with a full bladder. Is this right?

NamelessBaby1 · 17/01/2022 23:02

Hi @journeytomum, I think the only one a full bladder is needed for is the 12 week scan, but I'm not sure as this is my first baby; that's the only scan I've had so far and was told for my 20 week one I wouldn't need a full bladder!

Lianna93 · 18/01/2022 02:46

@laurenGame @ChinChilly Midwife suggested I take the week to see how I do on the medication - hopefully it gets better soon.

@namechangeanonymous My current plan for work is to work right up until June. Take 2 weeks of annual leave at the start of June then start my maternity midway through.
However, Due to the nature of my job & how high risk it can be at times, I've kept holidays back just in case I need to go off earlier (I don't want to cut into the other side of my maternity).

Capricorn8990 · 18/01/2022 07:58

@laurenGame @ChinChilly all these new pains can be so scary! Gonna speak to my midwife on Thursday to see what else I should expect 🤣

Has anyone had private NIPT testing? Can you have it at any stage of your pregnancy? Xx
