Hi all, I'm new to the page and thread. FTM due 28th June. There's so much really helpful stuff here so thank you for sharing, I'm so glad i found it!

Just wondering if anyone has had consistent spotting throughout any of their pregnancies? Mine started at 8 weeks and seems to be around every 3 days and still happening at 15+3. I'm not normally health anxious at all (work in health) but this plus pregnancy hormones has been awful for my head. I had scans with EPAS at 9 and 14 weeks, all fine with baby and nothing conclusive although they could see where the bleed was but no info beyond that. I had a small clot tonight and have been feeling really under the weather but feel like I don't want to keep bothering them, although they have been amazing each time.

Any similar experiences?

There is a man on my project who sends the kind of emails that make me feel like I am physically deflating when I open them.

The kind of emails that open with just your name and never a "hi". The kind of emails that don't wish you a happy new year and that never end with "thanks". The kind of emails that summarise the sender's annoyance with snippets such as "I assume since this hasn't already been done..." The kind of emails that come sometime between the end of one day and the start of the next, so that you know that they work harder than you. The kind of emails that always have your line manager copied in.

I had one this morning and it's ruined my entire day by 8.00am.

144 days until maternity leave. 144 days until maternity leave. 144 days until maternity leave.

PeeAche · 07/01/2022 09:12

Welcome @Rhibee25 👋

I have had a small amount of second trimester spotting which scared the bejesus out of me. It lasted around 1 week off and on.
Not had spotting every day though.

When is your next scan? Also, have you been checked for cysts?

Keep us updated! ❤️ And if you're feeling unwell I would say it is worth seeking medical help again. It really isn't bothering them!xxx

GrowBabyGrow · 07/01/2022 09:19

@peeache, I know the type. There's someone who works with my team who is so pedantic and annoying that my heart sinks whenever I see he is on a project or has had a document shared with him. Always copies in the director to prove himself. At least it is Friday!!

fpeg · 07/01/2022 09:29

@PeeAche @GrowBabyGrow just to offer a different perspective (may well not apply in your cases) I am naturally a very direct communicator and don't always understand what people's responses to me will be. I've definitely improved a lot over the years (as people who work with me would testify and we joke about the old me now) but until it was pointed out to me it never occurred to me that people liked things personally addressing, they like to have more than just my request on the email. Even now my default is to write a very direct email but I now stop before I press send and add in what I call "the fluffy stuff" which means much better communication with my work colleagues. I care a lot about them, it's just in a different part of my brain to the functional "work" part and so it takes me a pause to link the two together. I had a really good colleague for a while who mentored me on improving my communication and she would reply to my emails with critique on how it came across (obviously we'd had a chat about this first), and if I need to send a sensitive one now I always send it to someone I trust first to tone check for me as I'm still prone to the odd gaff and it always catches me off guard 😂

It may not apply but I thought it might just help you feel slightly better about rubbishy, direct, uncaring emails 💚

fpeg · 07/01/2022 09:30

The copying in higher ups is just annoying though!

PeeAche · 07/01/2022 09:33

I think I do know that everyone has different ways of communicating and I try not to take it personally... but honestly, he's a total... errr... so and so. 🤐

Ladies ive been looking at matresses for cot beds. Im buying a 2nd hand cot bed but will buy a new matress for it. Which one would you ladies recommend. Are mama and papa matresses any good?

Rhibee25 · 07/01/2022 10:04

Thank you @peeache, sorry you're having a rubbish day. There's always one of 'those' in a team isn't there Hmm always wish karma would get them!

Yep, no cysts and they rules out it being related to a lletz procedure I had last year after a positive smear. Next scan isn't until 8th Feb. I'm in bed with what feels like flu now though (LFT's all negative and have been jabbed for both) so just hoping for no more blood ever but at least until I feel human enough to go do something about it. As you say, it scares the bejesus doesn't it! xx

I had a quick look on which and the mamas and papas essential pocket spring came out best at 84%. The mamas and papas premium was a don't buy because the cover shrinks after washing making it potentially dangerous. Hope that helps x
EarlGreywithLemon · 07/01/2022 11:19

@MrsNT we have a Mamas and Papas one. I can't give you any reviews from our part as our daughter still sleeps in our bed, but we bought it because we had lots of recommendations from others!

Prema112 · 07/01/2022 11:19

@fpeg Reading your email comment made me smile. I do the same thing! Blunt email first then go back and add some fluff Grin

MrsNT · 07/01/2022 11:20

@earlgreywithlemon do you remember which one you bought

OP posts:
EarlGreywithLemon · 07/01/2022 11:20

@fpeg, we looked at Which too, and also bought the essential one.

EarlGreywithLemon · 07/01/2022 11:21

@MrsNT we also went for the essential pocket spring.

MrsNT · 07/01/2022 11:34

Thanks ladies for mattress recomendations. Have saved it in my list

PeeAche · 07/01/2022 11:43

I'm just buying any old bod standard mattress. As long as it's clean and dry (and new!)

I'm pretty sure I slept in a drawer...

PeeAche · 07/01/2022 13:19

I've been getting into old eps of One Born Every Minute. 😂 Anyone else?

Clueless22 · 07/01/2022 13:37

@PeeAche I was tempted to start watching OBEM again but I was worried it would scare the life out of me 😆

PeeAche · 07/01/2022 13:49

It mostly just makes me cry. 😂

PlodandPod · 07/01/2022 15:28

@Vimto1991

Seeing everyone with Mat pay makes me so sad. My company offer nothing at all :( on SMP from the get go. Luckily managed to save a bit of money to still take a year off but if we have a second child I’d be looking to change to a job that offers me May pay.
Joining the club with only SMP! :(
hellointhere · 07/01/2022 16:18

@PeeAche that sounds really stressful! I think I'd feel the same cautiousness about epidural and c section link. I agree with you though, once it's happening all that matters is healthy baby. Do you have any other hospitals nearby? Just to get a sense of options?

@Rolledthedice I feel the same way and it's also my first time, I'm also very close to the hospital which is a comfort isn't it. I've not mentioned it to anyone except partner and my mum who are both supportive so I've not had any strong opinions like that!

It is such a mixed bag with quality of care. I've found it comes down to each individual person. I hope you both find the right person to meet your needs.

MrsNT · 07/01/2022 16:37

I have an "admin info for maternity" call next week. Not sure what questions i should be asking

Clomid1 · 07/01/2022 18:04

Does anyones nhs trust let you pay for a private room. I have two hospitals near me differents trusts and have just found out that the one I didn’t go for you can get a private room if you pay. Tempted to switch 😁
