@Slanketeer Thanks and welcome! I know a little Roo, and it's not short for anything, just Roo!

Prema112 · 18/01/2022 20:08

Thank you @JAR1981 @Littlemilomoo @Lostintranslatio @Clueless22 @PeeAche ❤️

pregnancydiaries · 18/01/2022 20:18

@Clueless22 @JAR1981 thank goodness you guys are the same!! I have done endless googling, looks like we are fine to push away 😂

@Prema112 what a beautiful scan ♥️ try not to worry too much about spine and kidney. If wee poppet is sitting up right surely that speaks volume for the spine xx what are your plans for opening the envelope?

3yearstrying · 18/01/2022 21:40

@Prema112 congrats! So lovely to see!!

@Littlemilomoo i cannot recommend leggings from Very enough!! Theres a 2 pack of black and grey for about £14. Not maternity ones but high waisted and i honestly live in them. So so comfy and a bargain! And i'll be able to wear them still non-pregnant haha

AlbatrossSociety · 18/01/2022 21:41

Hi all, I completely fell off the thread for a while- was so busy getting back into work after Christmas and have found pregnancy is a bit less all consuming now first trimester has well and truly passed! My appetite is massive at the moment and I swear bump is growing daily. Also boobs have gone up massively and my nipples are both bigger and more sensitive which is not a good combo. Finding seat belts really uncomfortable, don't know if that's just me!

Hoping I'll be able to catch up and keep up with everyone as I did really enjoy reading everyone's updates!!

3yearstrying · 18/01/2022 21:44

@pregnancydiaries omg im so glad you mentioned this, is it too early to start stool softeners!?
I feel blocked up down there but cannot go!! Im going to try a steak for dinner tomorrow as red meat seems to go straight through me so could help things alongGrinHmm

PeeAche · 18/01/2022 21:47

I am also constipated.

Don't think anyone needs any more detail from me, but let me know if you do. You know I'm good for it.

GrowBabyGrow · 18/01/2022 21:54

I am also joining the constipated club. It's so horrible! Bought some prunes which I've been having blended with apple juice... I really hate prunes but they are helping.

laurenGame · 18/01/2022 21:54
@PeeAche the price of the next 2 me is a complete bargain!!!

Ladies - tell me that "straining" in the toilet is totally safe? I'm SO constipated that there's nothing else for it but the more I push the more I feel like I'm pushing the baby out...😂 sorry for the totally TMI but we're all friends, right?
I had that and it caused me vaginal bleeding which was awful.

I use movicol now and it's really great for "softening" abilities. Just use a sachet the night before going to bed; takes about 12 hours for it to work so don't wait until you're badly constipated Grin my OB advised me that x

3yearstrying · 18/01/2022 22:04

Constipation club i love it haha! @GrowBabyGrow i hate prunes too but that sounds bareable i'll try that!

@AlbatrossSociety i am always starving! I can manage in the day with small snacks but come 9-10pm all i want it chocolate cake and hot custard...really cant keep blaming the weight gain on my poor baby now can i lol!

ChildOfFriday · 18/01/2022 22:12

I've had the constipation as well. It isn't too bad at the moment (fingers crossed) but I had a dreadful few days before I even knew I was pregnant when I must have been about 9 weeks. I'm also noticing that my clothes aren't fitting due to my bump. I'm living in pyjamas and jeggings and I'm glad that I'm working from home so don't have to worry too much at the moment about smart clothes for work.

I have my 20 week scan next Tuesday. Initially the date that came through on the app was at the end of March which panicked me slightly, but a phone call sorted it out Smile

Congratulations to everyone who has had good news from their scan Smile

Annabell1 · 18/01/2022 22:45

@PleaseSendNoodles Yes already three of us. ❤️
I thought about you the other day. Not sure if you know PippyEats on Instagram. She is always posting the most delicious noodles. 🍜
@Prema112 I'm glad your scan went well. Curious whether it's a boy or girl. ☺️
We call ours Mopsi, and I agree might be difficult to get used to a proper name at some point.
I think I'm really starting to feel some movement now as well. Feels a bit like a fish swimming in there, not the most comfortable feeling though.

PleaseSendNoodles · 18/01/2022 22:57

@Annabell1 oooh that sounds good! I’ll look it up. Thanks! 🍜

@PeeAche that made me laugh. Is it bad I almost DO want the details?

In all seriousness, the constipation and resulting haemorrhoids (🤢 sorry) have really got me down lately so it’s SO NICE to know our club is a pretty big one.

I love being on this thread. You are all the best (yes, hormones are giving me a lot of feelings haha) 💕

CurryandSnuggle · 18/01/2022 23:06

Constipated ladies, best advice I can give is drink lots and eat plenty of fruit (and veg but fruit works best for me). I struggle with constipation if I don’t stick to this. I don’t think my multivitamins help as they contain added iron but I prefer to take them for the health benefits.

JAR1981 · 18/01/2022 23:16

I feel so much better I’m not alone in the constipation club! I’m treading a fine line at the minute with a combo of prune juice, plenty of fresh and dried fruit, flaxseed, fibogel and lactulose. It’s delightful.

Annabell1 · 18/01/2022 23:19

Another advice for those with constipation is Magnesium Citrate before bedtime. Not Glycinate though as that may cause constipation. Also very good during pregnancy as we need more of it now. 🤞🏻

Rolledthedice · 19/01/2022 01:54

Interesting that so many of us have sluggish digestion as a symptom! I agree with the advice to drink loads, eat plenty of fruit and veg, try adding 2 tablespoons of milled flaxseed on your cereal, and keep moving as much as possible! I hadn’t thought about the extra iron in multivitamins being an issue, that’s a good point. Oh and I find too much gluten slows things down and gives me stomach cramps, but that probably varies depending on your tolerance. I gave up gluten in the summer and it did make a difference to digestion - kept things running like clockwork. Today I made my partner go and buy ‘Barbara’ a jammy donut, and now I’m paying the price. 🙈

Rolledthedice · 19/01/2022 02:01

@Prema112 what a gorgeous scan! I’m sorry you didn’t have the experience you expected but I’m sure your little one is healthy and happy hanging out in there. 😊 It’s unsettling when they don’t speak to you during the scan, my 12 week was similar. Hopefully your next sonographer is friendlier.

Turniptracker · 19/01/2022 07:10

@ChildOfFriday we are scan twins, also eagerly awaiting next Tuesday, it can't come soon enough!! Are you going to find out the gender?
An on off member of the constipation club here but sad to hear people don't like prunes! I love them 😁

Brightsmoke · 19/01/2022 07:11

Good morning ladies. Hope everyone is ok, haven't had time to catch up for about a week.

We had our 20 week scan Monday. Found out we're having another boy. I won't lie, I am gutted it's not a girl. But it's ok to have gender upset, that's why I found out this time. I went shopping after the scan and got some blue towels and muslins. Then we did a mini gender reveal for my son and he's super excited which has made me a lot more positive :)

My colleague has covid, and work policy is 7 days off for everyone who's had contact, so I'm using my time to start painting the nursery. Booked carpets to come Monday so that's the deadline for the painting to be finished.

Hope everyone else's scans have gone well, and it really is ok to be upset about a gender you're having, and surprisingly normal, in case anyone is feeling the same as me :)

ChildOfFriday · 19/01/2022 07:24

@Turniptracker Hello scan twin! Best of luck with yours too!

We already know that we are having a little boy- I had what I thought was my 12 week scan last week but it turned out that my dates were completely wrong and I was 18 weeks, so they were able to tell us the sex. Are you planning to find out?

Matilda30 · 19/01/2022 07:28

@Brightsmoke sorry to hear about the gender disappointment and thanks for normalising! I'd really like another boy so I'm trying to prepare myself for baby being a girl-everyone keeps saying they think it's a girl and I think it might be too. But I really need to get my head round that possibility before the scan.

3yearstrying · 19/01/2022 07:33

@Brightsmoke thank you for being so honest! I was a bit gutted it wasnt a girl, but still cant wait to meet my little boy! This is my first i have carried this far so completely grateful, and I dont plan on having any more so i just look forward now to him being here Star

Brightsmoke · 19/01/2022 07:51

So many things in pregnancy are normal, but people are too ashamed to talk about them! I feel this is a safe space to vocalise, but I'm so pig headed enough to not care is someone does judge me for it.

@3yearstrying I was the same with my first son, but I adore him and I know you will with yours, and I will with this one. He was also meant to be my only child 🙈

Boys really are great :)

3yearstrying · 19/01/2022 07:59

@Brightsmoke thats reassuring thank you. I also feel its so important to not have to 'love' pregnancy. Many do but i for one hate it, i love what im growing but do not want to do this again. Such a strange feeling i wont just be me again, i will be mummy! So anyone else who cant wait for baby to be here and done with pregnancy you're not alone!
