@pregnancydiaries So pleased to hear you're home and nothing is wrong!

EarlGreywithLemon · 13/01/2022 15:35

@PeeAche yep, we had the same the first time I was pregnant. Luckily we also had a few friends who said “it really isn’t that bad”.
Yes, I was very tired the first few months, yes, she did cluster feed, yes, she woke up lots though the night, yes the washing machine was in all the time. I was prepared for the reality of that and it was helpful to be prepared. But I hugely enjoyed having her from day 1, and I still do. Even even I was exhausted I wanted time to slow down and not fly past so quickly. Life with children is different, but, at least for me, it’s better.

PeeAche · 13/01/2022 15:44
@peeache what do you do to get relief? I Had to shift to other room as that had a softer mattress and that helped me sleep
Wedge pillows between my thighs and pray for June 22nd.

PeeAche · 13/01/2022 15:47

@LM42 I think that is considered "low", right? Anything lower than 1 in 150 chance is low.

If my assumptions are right, I would say that is a very good result and you don't need further tests.xxx

pregnancydiaries · 13/01/2022 16:03

@Prema112 thank you ♥️

@PeeAche have you ever thought of becoming a writer? I'm sorry to laugh at your hell but I always find the way you explain things very amusing and relatable, cheers me right up that indeed I am not alone 😂

PeeAche · 13/01/2022 16:35

Ha ha @pregnancydiaries

You are both a flatterer and perceptive. I am a published writer! I have written a few books and I've even been on the radio. 😌 I've never been invited on the telly though which I deem the ultimate slight on my artistic prowess.

I also work full time, because unless you're Marianne Keyes or JK Cancelled, books don't pay the bills.

It's always very weird to see your own name sitting out on the shelves in Sainsbury's.

Well, I mean, unless your name is Lloyd Grossman, I suppose? 💁🏻‍♀️

PeeAche · 13/01/2022 16:47

Oh here's another thing I'd like to moan about.

My bump when standing is so cute that I just want to wrap myself up in tissue paper and put myself in the window of a gift shop. (The kind that sells mugs with bees on and Yankee "melts" 😍)

My bump when sitting looks like that scene with Jabba the Hutt and Princess Leia in Return of the Jedi. And in this analogy I am not Princess Leia, if you know what I mean.

Every time my husband walks into the room, I stand up. He must feel like royalty.

destiEos · 13/01/2022 17:06

Thanks all for whooping cough advice, midwife hasn't responded to text message, so I'll just call and book myself in, otherwise I'll probably forget. I swear I read through this thread every day and then don't post because when I open up a New Post I've forgotten what and/or who I wanted to comment on. Pregnancy, menopause, or just being rubbish, who knows? 😂

Anyway, sorry to hear your nightmare bathroom sorry @PeeAche and I was also going to suggest that you start writing if your hadn't already, when I read that you're a published author! How wonderful 🎉 I don't suppose you're consider outing yourself - I'd definitely want to read something you have written.

I've been spending ages looking at snuzpods, snuzkots and dockatots on eBay and fb marketplace but can't decide whether it's too early to buy anyway and also if it's worth buying new. The new mattresses are so expensive and the hassle of driving to pick up are making me think new is easier, but the price differences are huge 😕 I have a baby wishlist at John Lewis that I intend to start buying boys from after 20 week scan too. Seems pregnancy is just another excuse for online browsing! Has anyone been to Shepherds Bush Westfield Mamas and Papas? I want to book an appointment somewhere for buggies and things but don't know where around West London will have a big selection.

pregnancydiaries · 13/01/2022 17:08

@PeeAche I knew it!!!! I do like to class myself as very perspective. Now I'm sitting here feeling very smug that I'm talking to a celeb, we're calling you that whether you like it or not 😂

I won't invade on your privacy anymore...but what genre? I wonder if I've read any.

Rolledthedice · 13/01/2022 17:29

@PeeAche I also thought you might be a writer! I do enjoy your hilarious anecdotes and updates - keep ‘em coming! 😂

Also YES to the post-pregnancy horror stories from mums. I think I’m just going to keep this pregnancy secret from most people in real life, right up until it pops out. “Surprise! The couple you thought didn’t want kids have had a baby!”

Roxystar23 · 13/01/2022 17:29

@peeache - I’ve literally LOL’d out loud multiple times today whilst catching up with this thread. I love your style of writing and looking at the world - I think someone said earlier that you definitely seem like a glass half full type of person!

I’ll try and respond to other posts shortly - there’s been quite a lot going on in here since I last posted!

I cannot wait for my 20 week scan next week. I’m eager to find out if I’m carrying a boy or girl! (I definitely think Boy at the moment). My other half excitedly ordered a baby Aston Villa kit earlier this week and it just turned up. I can’t stop looking at it and smiling! It’s teeny tiny!!!
I’ve felt movements - seem to be increasing more and more each day. Last night as I shut my eyes to go to sleep last night, the little bubba decided to have a 5 minute game of “let’s see how hard I can kick Mummy” - it was quite amusing. Today they seem to be seeing how many somersaults they can do. It tickles - a lot.

Rolledthedice · 13/01/2022 17:31

A while back somebody mentioned having weird dreams and disjointed sleep. I keep waking up at 6am for no reason (usually a night owl who sleeps as late as I can). Plus having dreams where I’m angry or upset at someone/something. It’s so weird. Anyone else like this?

fpeg · 13/01/2022 18:10

@LM42 if it helps to think about it in percentage terms that's 0.04% so it really is very small. Obviously it's a personal choice as to what you want to do but thought looking at it this way round might bring more comfort xx

@Rolledthedice I'm having completely crazy dreams at the moment... occasionally down right disturbing! Also often waking up early, all part of our bodies getting is used to the idea sleep is a thing of the past? 😂

Rolledthedice · 13/01/2022 18:34

@fpeg Glad it’s not just me then! How mean of pregnancy to deny us sleep when we should be making the most of it. 😅

LM42 · 13/01/2022 18:44

@fpeg Thank you so much for this, it does seem better when put like this I think I will hold
out until my 20 week scan and hopefully everything is okay from then.

@PeeAche Thanks for your reassurance also yes it is classed as low I think I'm just being pregnant and over anxious 😩

PeeAche · 13/01/2022 19:00

I told my midwife that I've had some books published and she said "wow" without a trace of actual awe in her voice. Then, immediately after that, she looked me up and down and briskly informed me that my BMI is raised and therefore I need to see a consultant.

If my "celebrity" status didn't work with her, I'm loathe to call myself such. 😂

I'll try it on with the consultant though and keep you posted. 😉 Who knows, maybe she will be so impressed that she'll give me a free portion control plate.

I think it would be too outing to even share my genre. Too Google-able. You might take me on holiday with you though... and leave me on the scabby old bookcase in reception on your way out.

I'm having tinned spaghetti for dinner. Food of the gods. Anyone else? 😈

PeeAche · 13/01/2022 19:06

I'd like to add that I'm usually a glass is half full type but my wine glass runneth dry and I heartily miss being pissed. There I said it.

I could really go for a glass or ten of Rioja to be honest. I know we aren't supposed to admit that but what the hell.

Side note: Bella and Co fizz is incredible. It's £2.99 in Lidl this week or available on Amazon next day for £3.50 a bottle. If you live near me, there will be none left in your local Lidl as I sent DH out for "all the bottles"

10/10 can recommend.

PeeAche · 13/01/2022 19:08

Bella and Co is alcohol free btw.

mrkb · 13/01/2022 19:16

@MrsNT I don't know if this is it, but I got diagnosed with PGP yesterday and what you've described is definitely one of the symptoms explained by my maternity physio. I actually don't have that (just agonising debilitating back pain 😩) but could be worth mentioning to your midwife just in case. If it is early/mild PGP, the message I've absorbed over the last 24 hours is the sooner it's managed the better as it can get so bad that you end up with crutches or even in a wheelchair. Good news is that it disappears when the baby comes out and doesn't harm the baby at all! Just is horribly uncomfortable and/or painful.

Rolledthedice · 13/01/2022 19:17

I haven’t eaten tinned spaghetti since I was a kid; but now it’s all I want. Clearly having food FOMO.

fpeg · 13/01/2022 19:44

Just felt very first external movement of baby! Other half was right next to me, so quickly grabbed his hand and he felt it too. Magical 💚

beansprout55 · 13/01/2022 19:49

Smugstic smeg has made me laugh more than I have in ages! @PeeAche you're the tonic I needed today x

@fpeg that's so wonderful. How far along are you? Can't wait to be sure what I feel is the baby. 16+4 for me, pretty sure what I feel is just wind though!

MrsNT · 13/01/2022 19:50

@mrkb what exercises or remedy did they give you?

OP posts:
mrkb · 13/01/2022 19:57

@MrsNT no remedy. I have been told to do the following exercises which have definitely helped today

 • cat cow, 10 reps x 2, 1 second hold
 • 'baby hammock' which is basically like cat/cow (can't remember which is which but the one where your belly hangs low) and gently rock side to side - 10 x 2 x 1 second hold
 • child's pose - 5reps x 10 second hold
 • child's pose but where I reach my arms to one side then the other - same reps/hold
Also a couple of birthing ball type ones but I don't have one so haven't done them. Paracetamol can be taken but doesn't really help me. The main thing is to keep your legs/knees/ankles aligned at all times so when you're sleeping have pillows between knees and ankles, get out of bed with both legs at the same time, get dressed sitting down so you're not putting your weight on one leg etc. Also stairs can make it worse as can walking too much, sitting too long and standing too long or standing on one leg. Don't use a shoulder bag - use a backpack instead. Don't cross your legs and avoid movements where you're opening your hips wide (like men sitting on the tube...) Basically you want to make sure weight is evenly distributed across your hips at all times where possible. It all sounds a bit mad but I am feeling better today from only doing a handful of these things when remembering! The pelvic partnership has loads of good info too. Hope this helps a bit!
MrsNT · 13/01/2022 20:00

@mrkb thabkyou thats very useful. Ive screesnhotted it to remember the exercises. I tried sleeping with pillow last night but didnt know where to put it.just seen video now and realised its supposed to go between 😂
