@Prema112

Is anyone else still feeling really worried about things going wrong? I'm nearly 20 weeks and I feel like I'm counting the hours until my baby would be viable if born early. I have no real basis for my worry (except vaginal/cervical pressure) but sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with anxiety. I wish I could relax but finding it very hard to
YES. I've had bleeding episodes before so prob a valid worry but it's still a huge worry, I still don't think I'm out of the woods and feel like I'll only relax once I've a baby in my arms

Of course this is not a great approach. My friend recommended this meditation for pregnancy, I haven't listened to it yet but I really need to get into a positive mindset! This should be a happy time Confused

@CurryandSnuggle oh that must be so exciting 😍😍

@Prema112 Same here! First I thought I would relax when I saw a HB, then after my NIPT test results or once the first thrimeter had passed. And no, I only get a temporary relief. I don't think I'll ever enjoy the pregnancy at all because of my concerns and fears.

JAR1981 · 10/01/2022 06:48

Hi ladies, wow you are a chatty lot struggling to keep up!

@Vimto1991 @fpeg my movements have also varied day to day. They started a couple of days before Christmas and although I can definitely feel more now (kicks and pokes that hubby can feel now too, and we even saw my belly move three times on the sofa the other night which totally freaked husband out 🤣) I have very quiet days - quite often after a very active one. Trying not to let it be something I panic about as thing irregular movement is pretty normal at this stage.

@Prema112 totally! I am definitely not in the camp of buying lots of bits like some of the ladies on here. Hoping the 20 week scan will help ease the anxiety a bit. Mine’s on Friday. Anyone else this week?

fpeg · 10/01/2022 07:27

@JAR1981 I'm also on Friday this week 😁 can't wait! Really want to know what we're having!

@Rolledthedice I'm a natural side sleeper and have bought a pregnancy pillow because I was getting a lot of hip pain. It's a lot better, still not perfect, but I'm glad I've got it.

MrsTwentyNine · 10/01/2022 07:43

Also agree with people saying not comfortable buying things yet. Waiting till 24 weeks for major purchases Sad

Has anyone got a few spots on their bump? I have a spot that was quite big and very red and has now turned white ...redness has spread to the side too. Wondering if I need topical antibiotics ☹️

Prema112 · 10/01/2022 09:42

Thanks so much for your replies ladies, I'm sorry to hear you are worried, but also relieved I'm not the only one!

@JAR1981 Yes I'm hoping the 20 week scan will ease some worries, it's not until next Tuesday. Hope yours goes really well on Friday!

@Lostintranslatio I know what you mean about temporary relief. I'm not so worried about baby now as I can feel them moving but I am worried something will go wrong with me to cause preterm birth like water breaking or cervix failing, Google is not my friend

@laurenGame thanks so much for the meditation link that's a really good idea. I've also bought bath tray so I can try relaxing in the bath with a book!

@Olive60 I wasn't like this at all with my first, I suppose it's because we had a miscarriage after my son then 4+ years of trying and then IVF so this baby is much more hard won... I do hope we start relaxing after 24 weeks...

rathernotshare · 10/01/2022 10:27

My 20 week scan feels super late, I'll be 20+3 when I have it. Surprised as we booked it at my 12 week scan which was under 12 weeks. Also nervous as my stitches don't seem to have fallen out and they're all over my bump!

Do t worry I think you're pretty normal mine is at 20+2 (or 20+3 as far as the midwife is concerned as they go from my scan date rather than my IVF date - I know which I think is more likely to be accurate 😂) so I think we're pretty normal.

As far as the stitches are concerned if you are more than 7 days post op (which from memory you are) just tell your GP/practice nurse they are bothering you and they'll take them out. Resorbable sutures do exactly that but depending on which suture material they've used this can take anything between 4 weeks and 2 years for them to completely dissolve (different absorbency for different things). After my surgery in February I removed mine myself because they were just catching on everything but I will stress that dealing with healing wounds is part of my job so I knew what I was doing was safe.

Mine isn't until 20+6 - I hate the waiting!!
Prema112 · 10/01/2022 10:50

@sunflower198 mine is also at 20+6, counting down the days!!

Prema112 · 10/01/2022 10:51

@rathernotshare I got my laparoscopy 'dissolvable' stitches out at the GP, nurse did it in about 30 seconds!

rathernotshare · 10/01/2022 11:07

Thanks everyone, the thought of having belly button stitches pulled is making me gag though! Do we reckon I'll be ok to have baths again now? It's been 3 weeks and my hips are so sore

Vimto1991 · 10/01/2022 11:13

My 20 week is 20+2 and I was planning on having my whooping vaccine at the same time. I can’t believe that’s the last scan I’d have! Definitely will have another one or two private!! Can’t bear not seeing them for 20 weeks. 🙈

For those that are anxious, I am also anxious. I don’t think it will get any easier for us, I think it’s normal to worry. I keep seeing videos of newborns and it makes me cry. I just want it to be June and to hold my baby. 😫

Prema112 · 10/01/2022 11:19

@Vimto1991 I'm with you on that, 20 weeks with no more scans is so long!!

At 3 weeks you skin should be fully healed. Do you not get a sign off appointment for the op? Should be ok to have a bath again now no problem, I'd always check with your healthcare professional to be 100% sure x
MrsNT · 10/01/2022 11:59

@sunflower198 i found wait between 12 and 20 week scan was making me too anxious so i got a private one at 16 weeks for some reassurance.

Ive been having a look at sleepyhead deluxe pods on fb market place. Are they worth getting or another waste of space and money?

Would also be interested to know thoughts on this! I bought one at the weekend for £35 from marketplace vs. paying £120 new. I figured if I wasn't paying full price and didn't use it much at least I hadn't lost out on a lot of money and could always resell it
rathernotshare · 10/01/2022 12:07

@fpeg I have a follow up appointment but not til the end of feb!

rathernotshare · 10/01/2022 12:10

@fpeg clicked post too soon cause I was inspecting my stitches and knocked my phone 😂 the smaller cuts look closed at least but the bigger one that's a few inches still looks a bit manky. I think I may just have to be patient

RoseValleyRambles · 10/01/2022 12:31

I've been using a pile for a while just to keep me in my side: made a sausage shaped case and just stuffed two normal pillows in. So far, it's working well.

Re baths, I think we're ok but I'm keeping mine to 37' (issue seems to be hot tubs of 40'+. NHS not very clear on whether hot baths are a similar problem). Which is a shame as I like mine lobster hot. Anyone got any more intel on bath temp?

RoseValleyRambles · 10/01/2022 12:31

Hah! Pillow...

RoseValleyRambles · 10/01/2022 12:33

@rathernotshare Having stitches out is my least favourite thing. I don't know why as it doesn't really hurt, but I also get really squeamish about it: especially belly button!

Lostintranslatio · 10/01/2022 12:35

My 20 week scan will be at 21+1, I hope that isn't a problem or too late 🙁

I had a private scan booked last week so my OH could see baby as he wasn't allowed in the 12 weeks scan, and it was great to see her. We even got a few minutes on the 4D ( she looked like playdoh 😂😂😂). But again, five weeks until my 20 week scan feels sooooo long.

Brightsmoke · 10/01/2022 12:49

@RoseValleyRambles

Hah! Pillow...
AFAIK, hot baths are fine, as they begin to cool down instantly, and hot tubs obviously stay at the temp.

I had a sleepyhead first time round. Great for putting baby in on the floor so you can have a shower. My little boy 'slept' in it for the first 4 months. I will definitely be getting another one this time round. I was gifted the grand, so I'm on the hunt for a cheap deluxe. IMO, they aren't worth the ££s they are brand new, but I'm know other babies slept really well in them.

No sleep pods are deemed safe for sleeping in, but the sleepy heads were a few years ago as they're made of breathable material.
