Hello everyone!

I have just had my BFP this morning, and based on dates I am due on the 1st September! I’m only just late on my period so hopefully there will be a few more of us over the next few weeks. Last pregnancy my date was pushed back a few days and DS ended up being a full 12 days late after that so I’m not too wedded to the 1st September!

@LizzeyBenett it's probably bloating!

MOLWI · 11/01/2022 10:37

@Stellaaa

Hi everyone! I’ve been lurking but thought I would join, Tested positive on Friday and still haven’t told a soul. Not even my husband. I thought he guessed at one point but nope

Due 7th sept by the online calculators. Debating wether to book an early scan just too see if everything is in the right place
I think I’m in denial at the moment haha

Congratulations, how exciting! How/when are you planning on telling your partner? 🤩
annlee3817 · 11/01/2022 10:41

@LizzeyBenett joys of pregnancy bloating, there is a hairband trick to keep trousers done up but not fully closed, you should find it on Google

BlueSky57 · 11/01/2022 10:45

@LizzeyBenett I am also 5 weeks and so bloated! I feel like an elephant Blush

TotoAnnihiliation · 11/01/2022 10:53

In my first pregnancy, I went for a job interview at 5 weeks and I was the bloated that I looked about 5 months! Then it went down again and the numb started to appear around 10 weeks.

I hate to actually admit it, I am a large lady so I'm sure people probably assume I am pregnant anyway.

I've told my doctor this morning that I am pregnant, she is sending me over details of the maternity services. Apparently, it's all very different nowadays because of covid.

petitlapin1 · 11/01/2022 11:00

@stellaaa I didn't tell me OH for almost a week- he guessed when I needed garlic cheese at 10pm 😂.

Last time I didn't really look pregnant till well after 20 weeks- I've got a high BMI and wear loose clothing anyway.

6+1 today and the day is dragging...

www.familyeducation.com/pregnancy

Great website for if you want to know what's happening by day... You know when you're just procrastinating at work and can't focus on anything else 🙋‍♀️🤦‍♀️😂

BlueSky57 · 11/01/2022 11:35

I’m also struggling to concentrate today! I was just thinking i haven’t really told my doctors surgery yet. Do you just ring them and tell the receptionist? It’s so difficult to get hold of them anyway especially as they only answer calls when I’m at work so it’s not always convenient

Stellaaa · 11/01/2022 11:36

I think I need to book an early scan and once I know everything seems ok I’ll tell him.

This is number 3 for us and planned, so I really didn’t expect to be having so much anxiety about telling him 😂 I just can’t seem to spit the words out

I've made an appointment to go see mine next week I'm just guessing I should see her to confirm a positive
Sassy144 · 11/01/2022 11:59

@BlueSky57 I got through to mine yesterday and they told me I needed to get in touch with the local midwifery team to self refer, and they'd pass the details on to my GP.

Stellaaa · 11/01/2022 12:04

I self referred yesterday. My booking in appointment has just been added for 3 feb.

Congratulations!! I think it won't feel real more until your DH. I don't know how you are keeping it in - I want to tell every single person I interact with!
annlee3817 · 11/01/2022 12:43

@LizzeyBenett have a Google for maternity services in your area, you might just be able to self refer, GPs don't generally confirm a positive as the tests now are so accurate. I used to have to refer via the doctors, but ours has moved online now which was so much easier :)

Rejoining that chat after a break… I’m 5+5 and already feeling SO nauseous. Starts the moment I wake up and then is pretty much there in the background all day but comes and goes a bit. It’s a real struggle to get to work, I live in london and have to spend ages on the tube which is not fun when you’re on the verge of puking. Anyone else got such strong nausea so early? Wasn’t planning to tell my boss for weeks but at this rate I’m not sure I can wait that long as I’m not getting much work done.

It hasn't hit me yet but are you taking vitamin B6 ? You can take 10 - 25mg every 8 hours for the nausea / morning sickness
PoppyN1 · 11/01/2022 13:36

@mgah90 I’m in the same boat! I’m somewhere in the region of 5 weeks and the past few days (more so again today) I’ve had intermittent background nausea. I ended up telling my work to get a risk assessment at 6/7 weeks last time as I work in a clinical environment and struggled. I do know friends who’ve worked in London who’ve struggled with nausea, and they’ve had their hours altered so their commute is less busy/nauseating. Don’t know if that would be a thing everywhere but it sounded helpful!

surprised12 · 11/01/2022 13:54

Just had my booking in appointment this morning. Lasted for just over an hour.

All went well however I'm being referred to a heart consultant because I've been having heart palpitations (have had for years but tbh haven't ever been to see about it)
Now worried about my heart over my pregnancy ha!

Good news is that my midwife was lovely :)
Going on Friday for bloods and water sample.

Stellaaa · 11/01/2022 14:23

Gosh I don’t envy those commuting in rush hour whilst pregnant! Hopefully work will accommodate you

I’m currently WFH and will probably only go in to the office a handful of times between now and starting mat leave. So I’m thinking I need to start some lunch time walks or gentle exercise otherwise I’ll vegetate

Hopefully the heart issue is nothing to worry about @surprised12 best getting these things checked though

I’m thinking I’m going to book a private scan for the 20th and as long as all ok I’ll break the news after that with the scan pic

Lol I know what you mean about not being able to spit the words out. I did manage to tell DP quite quickly (after him being away for a few days so getting my head round the idea for a while) but am struggling with the words for anyone else.

I have just told 2 super close friends for now as I had a MC in Nov and they knew about that, but really need to tell my sister over the next couple of weeks. Think I might just buy her something with auntie written on it and let it speak for itself 😂

girafferafferaffe · 11/01/2022 14:59

Afternoon all! The tiredness has hit me big time. I proper passed out yesterday after dinner.

In November my boss said that she would be asking for a pay rise for me (I didn't ask!) as she says I do nearly double what my original JD said. Today she confirmed that I will be getting this but now I feel really bad - I haven't told them yet (I will when I've had 12 week scan and know everything is ok) but I also do think this is for the work I do now and why should I get paid less for doing more just because I'm pregnant. I'll only be taking 9 months leave as can't afford any more so it's not like I'll be away for a whole year. But I still feel the guilt.

BlueSky57 · 11/01/2022 15:02

Thank you for the advice on informing doctors etc everyone. My GP surgery is so confusing in the best of times, now they seem to have changed everything due to Covid so just finding information is difficult.

Can any of you recommend some good pregnancy tracker apps please? I’d be interested to know more about what is going on and when.

I'm using pregnancy + and really liking it
monkeyjocks · 11/01/2022 15:18

@LizzeyBenett same! My work trousers have been feeling sooo tight the last couple of days. I was off for a few days last week and it was really noticeable yesterday how much tighter they have become.
Luckily, I still have my maternity trousers from last time so hopefully I can start wearing those and no one will notice. Grin

TotoAnnihiliation · 11/01/2022 15:33

I want to get some maternity clothes, particularly maternity bras as my boobs are straining against my current bras. I'm worried that I'll jinx things though 😭 it's still so early! Not helped by a previous MMC.
