Hello everyone!

I have just had my BFP this morning, and based on dates I am due on the 1st September! I’m only just late on my period so hopefully there will be a few more of us over the next few weeks. Last pregnancy my date was pushed back a few days and DS ended up being a full 12 days late after that so I’m not too wedded to the 1st September!
@LizzeyBenett what's DHA? I'm looking for some omega 3 which is suitable for pregnancy, but not sure which to get, some apparently contain fish oils that we aren't meant to have, but not sure if that's just Google stirring the pot
DHA a type of Omega 3 , if your taking Omega 3 make sure it's a pregnancy omega 3 , because other fish oils ( cod liver oil) contain vitamin A and are not safe.

girafferafferaffe · 06/01/2022 20:46

Because this is my second I am very calm this time. Dh is absolutely not though haha. I didn't get any symptoms last time either so I am thinking myself lucky as last time I was in tears worrying that something was wrong. 5 weeks today. At 6 weeks I can call to book my booking appt.

surprised12 · 06/01/2022 20:49

What does tww mean? Sorry!

Tor88 · 06/01/2022 20:50

@annlee3817 also a veggie which is why I thought I thought I should take it 🙈🙈 nightmare! 🤣

lickerdysplit · 06/01/2022 20:53

@surprised12 tww means two week wait - that bit before your period is due and you're wondering if you might be pregnant 😘

surprised12 · 06/01/2022 20:54

Ahhh right - so if I'm 6 weeks I'm past that? 😂

annlee3817 · 06/01/2022 20:55

@surprised12 two week wait to be able to do a test

@girafferafferaffe I wish I was like you, thought I'd be way more chilled this time round, but nope 🤦

monkeyjocks · 06/01/2022 21:12

@girafferafferaffe same! I'm feeling very chill this time around. Actually thrilled to be pregnant and not having any symptoms so far as with my first the nausea was no joke!

I called the maternity services yesterday and my booking appointment is the 2nd Feb and my 12 week scan is the 1st of Mar. To say I'm VERY EXCITED is a massive understatement! Definitely feels more real now that I have appointments in the diary. Smile

calipoppy · 06/01/2022 21:22

@girafferafferaffe @monkeyjocks I'm exactly the same, so chilled out compared to my first! I know I'm on a countdown to sickness so I'm treating every day I don't have it as a celebration and eating all the foods I know I'll be sick at the thought of soon 😂

girafferafferaffe · 06/01/2022 21:32

I had some heartburn today and was like oh no.... I had to buy an industrial sized tub of tums last time and ate them like sweets I had such bad heartburn! I am sooo excited too. I told my bestie at work today and she squeezed me so hard it was so nice. I have been really anxious about mentioning it at all but it was so reassuring that she was so excited for me.

girafferafferaffe · 06/01/2022 21:33

I was also saying to her that I am really looking forward to newborn this time around as I will be so much more chilled about things. I won't guilt myself all the time like I did before!

Tor88 · 06/01/2022 21:45

It's super lovely and reassuring to hear second time mums talk about being really excited :) What I hear about the new born stage sometimes makes it all sound a bit doom and gloom! Nice to know people who have done it before are willing to go back for more haha

calipoppy · 06/01/2022 21:49

Oh I feel totally the same about the newborn stage! I look back and I'm like all that time to just cuddle my baby and watch Netflix, what was so hard 😂 I'm sure that's very selective memory!!

girafferafferaffe · 06/01/2022 21:53

I think mostly it was myself feeling guilty! I googled so much and I constantly felt like I wasn't good enough and I shouldn't hold her and she should be sleeping by herself and i should have tried harder to bf and she shouldn't do this or do that and it was all my fault. This time I am like fuck it! Hold the baby, watch tv, sod the washing for the day and that's fine!

madeleine85 · 06/01/2022 21:55

@Tor88 You are right, it is definitely better than the 2WW, but still so very slow! Congratulations on your first, that is really lovely. As this is our second my boobs have swollen massively already (they were unfortunately DD before), so i've had to buy maternity bras early this time around, and I feel like I am cursing myself by looking at maternity clothes before I've had my scan! Keep telling myself I can't think like that, but then I get up in my own head. Also re. your later comment, the newborn stage is kind of nice, especially the first few weeks while you adjust and they are sleeping 2 of every 3 hours. Weeks 6-9 are the toughest in my experience for sleep deprivation and then months 9-12 when they want to do things but can't (ours liked to get gery shouty). It's very easy to complain after, but a lot of it was nice, and I barely remember her being that young now!

@Sleepy86 I do the same with tissue checks every time I pee. I am wasting a lot of toilet paper! Congrats on reaching 4+4, I am either 5+4 or 6+2 depending on ovulation vs period date.

madeleine85 · 06/01/2022 21:58

@girafferafferaffe and @calipoppy your comments made me laugh and I completely agree. I saw my in laws for xmas and they have a 4 week old. He slept the whole time and we pretty much forgot he was there! Inside I was like I could do this again easily lol. Set myself up to watch the real housewives and pump while a baby sleeps. Easy peasy haha (if only). I think if we remembered all the hard times we would cease to procreate :)

calipoppy · 06/01/2022 21:59

@girafferafferaffe you're totally right, definitely the hardest part was letting go of my old standards for housework/what I should achieve in a day. And yes the constant googling thinking I'd done something wrong! It'll be so nice knowing everything still turns out fine in the end this time and just enjoying every phase ☺️

calipoppy · 06/01/2022 22:00

@madeleine85 haha let's just keep believing! That is definitely what our lives will be in September 💁‍♀️💁‍♀️

annlee3817 · 06/01/2022 22:03

Totally with you there, I will also be getting a decent carrier straight away, DD never liked a sling, but loved her structured carrier, didn't see the benefits of having one and being able to still do stuff until she was around six months. And yes to Netflix and not stressing about every little thing :)

It will be weird this time handing over the reins to DH from six months, but I feel like I'm getting the best stage :)

girafferafferaffe · 06/01/2022 22:08

Yes I've got a wrap sling on my tabs already to get! I had a borrowed one but didn't use it as much as I should have and then she got too heavy! I know exactly what is useful and what isn't now as well so no expensive things she will never use! (Rocking swing chair I am looking at you)

Ooo are you splitting maternity?? I'm thinking about that too ....
annlee3817 · 07/01/2022 08:05

@surprised12 yes we're really lucky as I get six months full may and my DH also gets six months full pay paternity

annlee3817 · 07/01/2022 08:06

*pay not may

Morning,

Nervously joining this group in the hope i don't jinx anything. I'm 6+1 with an ivf baby ... it would be our first child and our first ivf that has actually implanted so we are super anxious. Been ttc for 3 years after a miscarriage and cp.
I'm a walking pharmacy with 16 different jabs, pills and suppositories a day and early scan with clinic isn't until 19th Jan so time is going sloooowly. We had our BFP on 22nd Dec and I've been silently following this group for a while - as the days pass I am getting more and more excited reading your posts and praying I get to join in. I'm so excited to watch everyone's journeys and see what this year has in store for us all X

Congratulations! 🎊 So strong to be going through IVF 💕. I'd been on the IVF waiting list until Monday when I got an absolute out of the blue BFP. Waiting to hear back if I've to get an early scan as I have a blocked tube. Think time is going slowly for all of us in here 😂
