Good luck @jennixxx !! Hope it all goes well!

Mine is tomorrow at 9am. I had a question which might be stupid ladies. Do we get the results of the NT measurements ie, risk ..at the scan? Or do we have to wait for a letter to come through? I was hoping the scan tomorrow would tell me everything but then I hear it comes in the post so does the anxiety have to be prolonged even after the scan 😭

Prema112 · 08/12/2021 07:29

@MrsTwentyNine I got my NT measurement at the scan which gives you an indication, anything under 3.5mm is fine I think and if it's over 6mm it's likely there's a problem. They use your blood test results + NT measurement to calculate your risk & that comes in the post. I'm waiting for mine! Good luck with scan!

mrkb · 08/12/2021 07:29

@MrsTwentyNine I got my results at the time but I think that's just because my scan took so long haha! I had my blood tests first and then had to go for a walk mid scan because baby was in the wrong position and so the blood results had come through by the time it was over. They did tell me mid scan though that the measurements were showing good signs but they need to combine with bloods to make the final report. I assume they just send them to you in the post otherwise?

Prema112 · 08/12/2021 07:31

@beansprout55 I think you'll be fine stopping pessaries now, apparently they don't do much after 7/8 weeks. Hope your spotting stops soon x

MrsTwentyNine · 08/12/2021 07:36

Ahh thank you @mrkb and @Prema112 !

They took 3 sets of blood from during my midwife appt but I'm guessing they don't use that for this and will be taking more tomorrow! Hopefully scan should put my mind at rest. So stressful though! :/

czycoup · 08/12/2021 08:42

@MrsTwentyNine I think the bloods need to be done at the same time as the scan. I had to go to a different hospital for my bloods and was told I had to go before a certain time. Also, you need to consent to the NT test which you wouldn't have done at your booking appointment (I assume anyway).

I was told at the scan there was no sign of one genetic condition (not one of the ones they test for but another one which has causes me losses in the past). I've got the NT scan measurement but I'm not sure what it means or if it is of any use without the blood results. They said they would call me within 2 days if there was an issue otherwise a letter will come within 2 weeks. Today is the 2nd day and so far I've been jumping everytime my phone rings.

Morning ladies, so after a really good first scan at 13 weeks last week i started bleeding yesterday. Had slight tenderness of the womb area, i called EPU and they have booked me for a scan tomorrow. So worried!! Ive had no bleeding so far so to wipe and see blood i was in full panic mode. Hoping for the best!

rathernotshare · 08/12/2021 09:14

14 weeks today, officially in the 2nd trimester. Can't believe we made it 🥲

Hello, bloods have to be taken when you are 10 weeks minimum (i had mine a bit early at 9+6 as they put my dates back so I had to have them redone at the hospital)

As I had my bloods taken before my scan, they had all the results for the proper 12 week scan and were able to give me the results there and then SmileI would guess that if you have the bloods taken at the same time as the 12 week scan you will receive the results by post

Annabell1 · 08/12/2021 09:22

@BunBun221 In my maternity notes under risk assessment/ maternity care pathway it says Consultant led care.

They also did the blood test after my scan, so I'm waiting for the letter.

I really hope everything is OK tomorrow. ❤

HWka · 08/12/2021 09:30

@3yearstrying exactly the same just happened to me this morning! I just had my scan Monday and everything looked good but I’m going in tomorrow morning for a scan and because I’m Rhesus negative I need an anti D injection. So typical just when we thought we could start to relax!! Xxx

MsBubbles85 · 08/12/2021 09:33

Morning all! I have my scan today! I am so nervous but hopefully everything will be fine. According to the private scan I had a month ago, I should be 11 weeks today.

Unarosaes · 08/12/2021 09:33

I didn't get my results back until after the scan, as they sent the measurements to the lab to combine these with the bloods to ge the overall risk. During the scan they did tell us the NT measurement and mentioned other markers that were a good sign that things were going OK. I got a call a week later with the definitive risk levels

Roxystar23 · 08/12/2021 09:37

@CurryandSnuggle I purchased an A-Line Gown and the skirt starts quite low down so there isn’t much room for baby weight due to all the boning (I think that’s the right phrase/spelling) in the torso part. I didn’t even think about my body changing shape. My bust has gotten a lot bigger already but I just assumed my body would return to a similar shape. How naive of me!! Oops! Yay for feeling sexier!

@Prema112 - I didn’t even think about a C-Section and recovery. I haven’t really thought this through. If I’m exhausted from lack of sleep I think the last thing I will be wanting to do is jump on the treadmill! @EarlGreywithLemon - I didn’t even thinking about the whole leaking boobs situation either!!

@gcat16 - Sorry to hear you have had to postpone your wedding multiple times! The most important thing for me was ensuring my 90 year old gran was at my wedding. However My partner thinks I might be upset in the future looking at photos of our day when I don’t feel like my best. Hope everything goes well at your scan on Friday!!

Thankfully we haven’t booked that many suppliers yet (Thanks for all your advice ladies, I think based upon this info we will be moving the date). We will wait until the scan next week to make sure all is well with the baby & then I think we will start the calls to the venue & suppliers about date changes. At least if our baby is a little older when they attend our wedding I can get more excited about a special outfit for them! Grin

@PeeAche - That sounds like such an amazing baby haul! Well done you!

3yearstrying · 08/12/2021 09:38

@Olive60 thankyou!
@HWka its awful isnt it! Im now 14+2 so thought i was out of the woods but now im panicking. Ive has a loss at 8 weeks this year so i think im thinking the worst. They said they'll check my cervix to see if its just me bleeding or from the womb. Wishing you the best of luck tomorrowFlowers

Also, ive had a text to say i have a obstetrics appointment next week but no letter yet. Does anyone know what this is for? Im worried the tests came back bad. Sorry for being a moaning murtle this morning haha!

@HWka @3yearstrying I'm really crossing my fingers for you. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about. ❤️

Prema112 · 08/12/2021 10:26

@3yearstrying & @HWka So sorry to hear about the spotting/bleeding. It's so stressful when it happens. Be encouraged though that a miscarriage is really really unlikely at this stage. Thinking of you both, let us know how you get on Thanks

3yearstrying · 08/12/2021 10:38

Thank you all, the midwife on the phone didnt sound too concerned as im not passing clots so that does settle me a bit. I'll for sure let you know how i get on Flowers

Prema112 · 08/12/2021 10:40

@HWka are they offering you anti D because you're bleeding? I'm also R Neg and they said they would only give me injection after 20 weeks

AlbatrossSociety · 08/12/2021 11:04

Hi all, I absolutely cannot keep up with the speed of these threads! Completely fell off the last one and haven't caught up. I've also had some bleeding and twinges this week and my 12 week scan is tomorrow (I'll be 12+4), and feeling really worried about it.

3yearstrying · 08/12/2021 11:25

@AlbatrossSociety wishing you the best of luck for tomorrow! Comforting to know im not alone but also can understand completely the worry. The midwife assured me its really common to have some bleeding so not to stress until the scan and you know for sure. Take it easy and im Hoping for the best outcome for you x

EarlGreywithLemon · 08/12/2021 11:32

@Roxystar23 unfortunately even without a c section the advice is still not to exercise until you get the green light at your six week check up. Even with a straightforward birth your stomach muscles do separate and your pelvic floor can be weakened, both of which would be worsened by exercise. Sorry, I’m really not trying to sound negative at all - I’m sure you will have a wonderful wedding day no matter which date you choose Smile

EarlGreywithLemon · 08/12/2021 11:34

@3yearstrying I had the same in my first pregnancy at around 14 weeks, and DD is now a healthy, happy 2 year old. A couple of my friends did too (one at 11 weeks, one at 18 etc) and all was well with them too. Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow!
