Has anyone got or had video call with consultant for those that are on consultant led care?

RoseValleyRambles · 07/12/2021 18:54

Thanks guys! Super relieved. Scan person did suggest that fibroids might mean a c section is suggested tho, which is good to know at this stage, and not a terrible idea from my pov. No birthing pool for me by the sound of things!

@mrsnt I'm consultant led, i think, but nothing yet. Have been sent a gynae appt for April which might be something to do with it since the main concerns with me are fibroids, which are a later stage concern.

Olive60 · 07/12/2021 19:14

Thank you for the replies re partners at scans! For some reason it's stopped notifying me of replies I've just had a scroll and saw them ❤

Hope everyone's doing well. I'm really struggling in the night to sleep. Feel like I saw every hour last night & then gave up at 4. Always slept on my stomach. I've been looking at the pregnancy pillows on amazon. I need something!
I don't want to jinx it but I feel like my nausea is easing. I just feel sickly when preparing/eating now rather than constantly! 11w+4 & excited to be edging towards the 2nd tri!

PeeAche · 07/12/2021 19:15

@MadamMaltesers ThanksThanks I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for your kind words of support for us all.xxx

I am shared care with consultant but had no contact yet. My midwife said to expect the call after my 16 week midwife appointment.

To the person asking about heartburn... no, there is no relief. There's just pain, discomfort and sometimes a bit of Gaviscon. Welcome to the fiery gates of my own personal hell.

Is anyone getting lower back pain when walking longer than usual..mine is a desk based job so i dont get much activity these days plus with the weather hardly been going out for walks. Walking around town or supermarket is giving me very mild low back pain on one side.

@MrsNT

Has anyone got or had video call with consultant for those that are on consultant led care?

I'm consultant led and will have my first appt with them at about 17 weeks.

mrkb · 07/12/2021 19:27

Hi everyone, haven't posted for a while & still catching up but I was wondering if anyone else hadn't really heard from or had much contact with their midwife?
For my booking appointment I had a different midwife as mine wasn't available and she said that the contact details for my midwife would be on the badger app but that hasn't been the case. It's not really been much of an issue until recently but I had some new symptoms last week (new, prolonged cramping) and would have wanted to check in with mine to see if it was anything worth worrying about rather than just relying on google! I've also been recommended to see a genetic midwife team due to family history and not heard anything there either! Just trying to work out if I've got unreasonable expectations or if I should be chasing this!

rathernotshare · 07/12/2021 19:32

@mrkb I got told the name of mine at my booking appointment but haven't met her yet, I'm 14 weeks. I THINK she will do my 16 week appointment but I'm not sure!

BunBun221 · 07/12/2021 19:37

@mrkb id definitely follow up with the midwife. I've had a lot of contact with mine. 2 calls before the booking appointment. Then the midwife came to my home for my booking appointment at 8 weeks, and she's available by text if I have queries and to let her know any updates or if I need to contact GP (as had utis). She texted me my blood results etc

BunBun221 · 07/12/2021 19:40

@mrkb having said that, I'm assuming that the amount of contact I've had is normal but it might not be!

Annabell1 · 07/12/2021 19:51

@MadamMaltesers I'm so sorry to hear. Take good care of yourself. 💐

PeeAche · 07/12/2021 20:20

@mrkb I have found that I can contact my local children's centre where she is based and leave messages for her. Now I have her mobile number too and have been able to text her. Have you tried calling the place you had your booking appointment and leaving a message at the desk for her?

I have my first baby haul. All from Freecycle and in exceptional condition:

25 onesies for between 0-3 months
4 cardis
6 new born hats
6 sets of booties
5 rompers
A changing bag
2 changing mats
3 hooded towels
A high chair (IKEA, nothing fancy)
A toddler seat (for sitting to the table)
A microwave steriliser

It's all in the washing machine now and then I'm going to bed enjoy folding it all up and carefully putting it away. ❤️

@Pandamama88 so exciting to hear about your baby girl! You’ve made e seriosult contemplate getting some form of test or dating scan before 20 weeks. I didn’t want to know last time, but I’m desperate to this time!

@PeeAche sorry to hear about your rubbish scan. Hope they can get you booked back in again.

Madammaltesers, sorry to hear that. Sending you love. Look after yourself.

Welcome to all the new mummas.

Hope everyone is ok!

We had a stressful holiday as they changed the legislation whilst we were away and now we’re isolating whilst awaiting PCR results. I’ve also come down with my 3rd cold this pregnancy, starting to worry as read an article about someone who had a cold early pregnancy and baby was born blind and death, had spina bifida and something else, and it was linked back to her cold/fever. Had enough of being bunged up. I just want to feel better and go for a lovely run with my dog :(

Came home from the holiday to the results from my 12 week blood scan, and very low risk of downs/Edwards/Patau, so at least that’s positive!

We’ve bought a few bits and pieces. Figured if we’d planned this baby, we’d have bits from my son anyway. Got a buggy, next to me cot and bouncer. Looking for anything cheap/free from now until birth, this is my budget baby. I’m determined to buy everything we want/need for less than £400 😅

CurryandSnuggle · 07/12/2021 20:42

@Brightsmoke oh jeez, hopefully that’s not the case as I had a horrendous cold at like 7 weeks pregnant 😬

mrkb · 07/12/2021 20:49

Thanks @PeeAche @BunBun221 @rathernotshare I'll try to contact the team tomorrow - I have an email for the general team on my purple pack. Unfortunately where I went for my booking appointment is connected to a different hospital (i'm registered at one a little further away) but they have an outpost there and only go in once a week so won't work leaving a message. I'm glad to hear you're in more regular contact as I was worrying I was expecting too much to be able to speak to someone between appointments! My main worry atm is from not having heard anything from the genetic team yet!

rathernotshare · 07/12/2021 20:59

@mrkb I'm also supposed to be hearing from someone as there's a serious genetic issue on my husbands side. Haven't heard anything yet, but my care in general has been pretty shoddy so not sure if this is helpful 😅

Unarosaes · 07/12/2021 21:03

@brightsmoke @curryandsnuggle as far as I am aware the risk of spinal tube defects or miscarriage is when your body temperature has been above 38.3 or 39 degrees Celsius (depending on the source, NHS says the latter).

Unarosaes · 07/12/2021 21:03

I keep having baths and then panicking that I've done something horrible for the baby, so keep researching the same thing over and over

Annabell1 · 07/12/2021 21:09

@MrsNT I believe I'm also consultant led and will have my first appointment in week 19.
@RoseValleyRambles So good to hear your scan went well. Xx
@Pandamama88 Congratulations. A girl, how lovely. 💕
@mrkb I haven't really been in touch with my midwife either. Just had my booking appointment with her and she called me once. But in your case, I would just chase it up.

I also had my 12 week scan yesterday and all is well. I really can't believe it, it's still so surreal. The little one was quite active jumping up and down. ❤️
My haematoma is apparently still there 🤷🏼‍♀️ but has gotten smaller, so hopefully it will disappear at one point.

BunBun221 · 07/12/2021 22:11

@MrsNT and @annabell1 how do you know if you're consultant led? I've been given a constulatants appointment for week 15 but I'm not sure if that means I'm consultant led?

MrsNT · 07/12/2021 22:25

@bunbun221 your midwife should have told you at booking in appt. Also i think if u have consultant appt then you are consultant led. Can be for number of reasons like if mum to be is for example underweight/overweight, thyroid conditions, pcos , went on fertlity treatment etc

MrsNT · 07/12/2021 22:26

@bunbun221 i was told at my booking in appt . Have you got midwife number? Try giving her quick call and asking or msg

BunBun221 · 07/12/2021 22:41

@MrsNT This is my first pregnancy so I'm learning lots of new terms! Midwife told me I'd probably have to be overseen by a consultant as I have Hypermobility Syndrome (possibly undiagnosed Ehlers Danlos) but for some reason I thought that just meant that I'd check in with the consultant a couple of times and never thought of it as 'consultant led!

Esperer · 07/12/2021 22:54

I'm consultant led and saw my consultant face to face before 12 weeks. They have already booked in loads of appointments and scans right up until EDD. Also daily Clexane, aspirin and Cefalexin eek! 193 more injections to go... Shock

jennixxx · 07/12/2021 23:33

Good luck to anyone having scans this week!
Mines is tomorrow at 1:35 i can already tell im going to be tossing and turning all night long!!!!😂
