@peeache sounds like you've had a day of drama. I'd be complaining to the hospital / pals tbh about the attitude of those you encountered - way below common human decency and basic professionalism. But I'm so glad you finally have a diagnosis/treatment. Hoping you get that scan rebooked without further issue.

RoseValleyRambles · 06/12/2021 22:47

I am off to the hospital for what I think is scan 5 of this pregnancy so far (11 weeks) in the morning. Not even made it to the 12 week one yet!

Really hoping hematoma has shrunk. Definitely not gone as I'm still bleeding, so feeling a bit apprehensive in case the direction of travel isn't a good one. Will update in the am - and hopefully will have seen something more baby shaped than my last scan at 8+3!

BunBun221 · 06/12/2021 22:50

@PeeAche so pleased you got diagnosed properly and you're on antibiotics! Definitely push for a redo on the scan!

@jennixxx headaches have just started for me - I'm 11+1 but had headaches the last couple of days. What's bothering me the most though is chapped lips! I don't think they're from dehydration as I'm getting through about 3 litres of water a day but they're cracking and bleeding everyday - especially in the morning! I read online about pregnancy lips but they seem to be all plump and Kardashian like - I seem to be on the other end of the spectrum!!

unknownscot · 07/12/2021 04:22

@PeeAche
They should never have cancelled your 12 week scan, so I'd be finding out who suggested that and complain to them.

General Sonographers and Obstetric Sonographers have completely different training - in Scotland it's a different degree altogether.
The Sonographer was completely right to not scan Baby properly as they aren't trained too.

Hopefully all will be sorted and you get your 12w scan

X

Hi Everyone! Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet - I’m just catching up with all the posts.

@PeeAche Sorry to hear that you had such a rubbish experience & such a poor service of care. Crossing my fingers that you get your scan!

@RoseValleyRambles Wishing you the very best for your scan! & to everyone else who has a scan this week.

I’ve got a bit of a question for those of you who are lucky enough to already be a mum please? We booked our wedding before we found out about the pregnancy and I even purchased my dress. Our wedding date is the very end of September 22 & my current estimated due date is June 26th (Dating scan is next week to confirm). My partner has asked me if I would like to move our wedding date as he wants me to feel a million dollars on our wedding day & I think he is concerned I now might not fit in my dress. I was just wondering if anyone could advise how long it took to lose weight & return to pre-pregnancy weight Please & any advice to lose it. Should we move the wedding to 2023? We haven’t sent out invites yet as we were waiting until the 12 week scan to confirm dates & decide what to do about moving the date. Thanks!

CurryandSnuggle · 07/12/2021 08:07

@Roxystar23 what type of dress did you buy? Be prepared that lots of women’s bodies change shape after pregnancy. I’ve been much bigger in the bust and my tummy has changed shape, I feel sexier since my DS was born but I’m very different to pre-pregnancy.

Prema112 · 07/12/2021 09:09

@Roxystar23 Just personally if it were me, I wouldn't want to be worrying about losing weight when the baby has just come. The first 6 months of having a newborn for me were such an exhausted, wonderful, difficult messy blur, all I could think about was trying to sleep when I could and feeding my son! You may have to have a C and be recovering from that, you may get mastitis (ouch!!!) Your capacity may be a lot higher than mine, but if it were me I'd postpone the wedding until the following year xx

gcat16 · 07/12/2021 09:29

@Roxystar23 our wedding is planned for 3 weeks after my due date haha - you are definitely making me think that I'm insane for even contemplating going ahead with it!! We've postponed ours 3 times because of covid, but I guess it depends whether you'd rather the day was perfect, or just want to get married!

gcat16 · 07/12/2021 09:33

Also, should probably introduce myself! I've been following (lurking) since the beginning. I'm now 11+4 and have my 12 week scan on Friday which I'm terrified about. Had a scan at 6 weeks and 9 weeks because of two previous losses, and everything was fine. Lovely to see all of your 12 week scans though!

@PeeAche your treatment sounds bloody awful though, I'd be fuming. Glad you did get to know that baby is ok at least! I hope you do get your 12 week scan!

JAR1981 · 07/12/2021 09:51

@PeeAche so sorry to hear about your scan but glad you now have antibiotics for your kidneys. Kidney infections are horrid! As others have said you should be very clear with the hospital/midwife that you want your 12 week NT scan reinstated. There’s only a small window in which they can take the NT measurements and everyone has a right to screening. The quadruple test which is done later is less accurate, and it’s not fair to you to have to fork out on a private NT or NIPT because of your hospital’s incompetence!

@RoseValleyRambles good luck scan number 5 today!

RoseValleyRambles · 07/12/2021 10:06

Hey guys! I can happily report that baby is alive and wiggling. Great scan, charting bang on expect growth, and the area of bleeding seems to have reduced.

So relieved. Back next week for the official 12 week :)

EarlGreywithLemon · 07/12/2021 10:33

@Roxystar23, personally I agree with @Prema112; the first few months with a newborn are a whirlwind. I pretty much grabbed whatever I could to eat whenever and wherever I had a moment and I was so tired I really needed the comfort of nice, warm, tasty and plentiful food. No way would I have wanted to diet at that point and if you breastfeed I don’t think it’s particularly recommended. Also, if you do breastfeed it’s all leaky beasts and hiding stains for a while! Like @CurryandSnuggle, my body has also changed, even though after two years I gradually got back to my original weight on the scales. That said, I’m still breastfeeding as my 2 year old isn’t keen on stopping so I don’t know how much that’s playing a part.

EarlGreywithLemon · 07/12/2021 10:35

@PeeAche I’m so sorry, your treatment sounds extremely substandard. So glad you’re finally being treated - though it should not have taken you all this effort! Definitely do push for a proper 12 week scan! It’s unacceptable that it was cancelled like this.

EarlGreywithLemon · 07/12/2021 10:50

@DaimDillyDoo, @jennixxx I meant to say on the question of what to dress the baby in: for daytime it’s pretty intuitive. We quickly worked out that indoors at around 22C little one was happy in a short sleeve vest plus baby grow, and then added or subtracted from there. Night times used to worry me more, but that’s a made lot easier if you use a sleeping bag and a room thermometer (some double up as bath thermometers which can be really useful). Gro have a good chart here which applies to all brand sleeping bags, not just their own: gro.co.uk/product/grobag-baby-sleep-bag/attachment/what-to-wear-guide/
The terminology is a bit confusing, but vest=bodysuit and baby grow =sleepsuit=onesie.
The buttons/poppers on the baby grow may look off putting but are really helpful for only undoing and pulling up the bottom part if you are just doing a quick wet nappy change. The easiest way to do them up is to do one popper at a time on each side starting at the feet - so first popper on the left leg, then first popper on the right leg, then second on the left, second on the right etc.
Oh, and vests usually have envelope necks, which means it’s easy to pull them down off the baby rather than over their head in case of a poo leak! All of this may sound really complicated but honestly, a couple of changes and you’ll be pros!

MadamMaltesers · 07/12/2021 12:36

Hi everyone

Haven't been here for about 3 weeks and a half. I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks on the 10th Nov. Would have been 12 yesterday I think. Did not see it coming at all just had a headache. Just want to say wish you all the best with your pregnancies.

HWka · 07/12/2021 13:09

beansprout55 · 07/12/2021 16:05

@RoseValleyRambles great news x

fiowen45 · 07/12/2021 16:05

Any one else suffering from indigestion heartburn ? And recommend any remedies to relieve it please .

beansprout55 · 07/12/2021 16:07

@Prema112 I know I said no bleeding, but oddly this morning I had bloodstained CM, again. Starting to think I'm going to just have this on and off throughout.

How have you been?
I'd feel much better and less worried if I only knew why this happens and where it's coming from! Frustrating xx

Prema112 · 07/12/2021 16:15

@beansprout55 darn that's annoying, but so good you've just had a lovely scan so you know baby is ok. I had a cervical exam today to see if they could find a cause for bleeding but it was all normal 🤷‍♀️ How many weeks are you? Mine settled down around the 12 week mark, coinciding with finishing pessaries...

beansprout55 · 07/12/2021 17:25

So good yours has stopped!! x
I'm 11+1, I ran out of pessaries a few days ago and they won't give me any more. They said I don't need them after 10 weeks - I'm not sure why as so many places I've read carry them on 12-14.
The sonographer yesterday said my placenta hasn't taken over yet either, so I would have thought until that happens I need the extra progesterone. I'm probably wrong, I'll have a serious Google when I get in from work!xx
