@fiowen45 @beansprout55 phew a bit relieved to kno im not the only one.

AlbatrossSociety · 26/12/2021 21:22

Hi all, glad there have been some lovely Christmases and sorry for those of you that have been feeling overwhelmed or had any negative comments!

I was supposed to be going to my father-in-law's tomorrow and he's already made some questionable comments and doesn't even know I'm pregnant yet. He's got Covid though so we can't go and I'm semi-relieved and semi-annoyed because it just delays the meet up! I'm feeling a bit conflicted about it because he's not been the best dad for my husband and my lovely mother-in-law passed away a couple years ago so I'm just gutted that he gets to have this moment and she doesn't Angry. I think Christmas often can be quite emotional without all the changes we're going through.

My tummy has suddenly popped and now I have a definite bump! I swear it wasn't there when I went to sleep one night and has just appeared! How are others doing on the bump front?

Any recommendations for pregnancy pillows?

Dogmum5 · 26/12/2021 21:51

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and enjoying the calm afterwards. Totally with those who have said people keep saying 'oh itll be crazy next year' 'last calm christmas'. Anyone making the most of the sales foe any baby items?

Matilda30 · 27/12/2021 07:00

@AlbatrossSociety sorry to hear that. Families eh, we had a very quiet Xmas just me, my husband and my 6yo. My bump has also popped, I feel huge especially because with my last pregnancy I was tiny and they kept saying I measured under! I think it's because any stomach muscles I had are now completely shot.

I had a dream genii pillow last time but I'm looking for something else this time to help with pgp and the hip pain which I know is coming from side sleeping. Interested to hear recommendations.

fpeg · 27/12/2021 12:13

@AlbatrossSociety baby number one but I've had a bump for a few weeks now (currently 17+5). Mum's an ex-midwife (long time ago) and just keeps saying "God you're huge!" Still not big enough for proper maternity wear so obviously not that big 😂 my weight has barely changed, it's just tummy is emerging!

AlbatrossSociety · 28/12/2021 11:04

I have bought the Byre Support Pillow pretty much solely based on this review. It arrives on the 3rd Jan so I'll keep you all updated! Finding it crazy how hard it is to fine a comfy position now, kind of dreading trying to sleep when bump is bigger.

Went swimming yesterday and I swear my body feels really different in the water, like my buoyancy has changed! Was nice to have some exercise that was a bit different from the seemingly endless walking in the rain.

I've been using my husband as a pregnancy pillow, but am planning to upgrade to a real one once bump gets bigger! Keeping an eye on reviews from people, so if anyone does have recommendations, do post please Smile

My nausea has finally buggered off, and I am SO pleased - I'm still taking the meds though, I'm guessing it's a combination of reaching 16 weeks and the 2 weeks on the meds that has done the job. Had a curry last night, A CURRY!! It was wonderful.

Unfortunately this means I'll have to go back to work next week, which is rubbish... And I've caught the heavy cold that's going round (2 negative LFT say it's not covid), so am bed-bound again Confused

Am living in one pair of H&M baggy maternity jeans, I ordered another pair in the same size and they won't come above my thighs 🤣 The skinny ones are a bit tighter under the belly, so they're reserved for when I need to look a bit smarter. Also bought the L maternity comfy bras which fit much better than the M. Top half seems to still fit all pre-pregnancy tops and jumpers though, which is great. And Santa bought me XL super comfy and expensive maternity PJ's made from beech trees. They're huge but I'm going to wear them forever 🥰

Looking forward to the New Year, hopefully it'll put the last of the serious covid spikes behind us and slowly gearing up the big day (I am shitting myself to be fair!) Anyone have birth plans yet? Doc sort of advised c-section, midwife sort of pushed natural birth - I'm happy with whichever is easier and less painful myself 😬

Hope everyone's enjoying the festive period 🎉

Happymum73058 · 28/12/2021 17:15

Hey everyone I'm new to the thread got directed over by a fellow member 😆 I'm due on June 1st 2022.. a little baby girl 💞

I already have 2, a 5 year old girl and a 2 year old boy. We are all very excited!!

mrkb · 28/12/2021 17:18

I got the Bella moon pillow for Christmas and am enjoying it so far - very comfortable and have definitely slept better since it's arrived! I like that it's multifunctional and can be used with the baby when it's here

RoseValleyRambles · 28/12/2021 17:28

Feeling very happy with myself today having just turned an old duvet cover into a pregnancy pillow case and studded it with spare pillow. Here's hoping for less achey sleep tonight!

fpeg · 28/12/2021 18:58

@Happymum73058 hi there! I'm due the same date 😊 don't know the sex yet though x

MrsTwentyNine · 28/12/2021 20:08

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
Had my covid booster yesterday and been in bed with a fever all day today 😩 Ofc don't regret getting the vaccine but wish I didn't get a fever with every single dose 😞
Got a gender scan booked soon! Anyone else?

Matilda30 · 29/12/2021 08:32

Just ordered this pillow as it's relatively cheap. I'll let you know how I get on. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.direct.asda.com/george/baby/baby-feeding/breastfeeding/kinder-body-nursing-caterpillow/050297394,default,pd.html

PeeAche · 29/12/2021 10:02

I don't think my husband will respond very well to a pregnancy pillow, so I don't intend on getting one for some time.

Speaking of husband's, mine has Covid. Apparently I'm not being sympathetic enough. This, from the man who's only comment on my HG, hospitalisation, 2.7kg of weight loss and subsequent kidney infection was: "you smell of sick"

😂 give me strength.

Don't cry for him. He's triple vaxed and got the Omicron. It's like a mild cold. Except my DH doesn't know the meaning of the word "mild" 😂

Okay, can someone offer me some advice and support... I've started getting frequent pimples. Just normal pimples. A bit painful. Ah, one other small thing... they're all inside my labia Blush Anyone else?

@PeeAche is it possible you have a strain of HPV in your system and all the stress and knock to your immune system of pregnancy has brought it out? Last cervical smear I had came back as ‘normal’ but showed I had HPV in my system, as a vast number of us do.

I've never had HPV come up on a smear and I haven't changed sexual partners since my last one. But good shout. I've googled it and it doesn't seem to match my symptoms. I want to ask my midwife about it but I haven't been able to get booked in for my 16 weeks. Just not returning any of my calls.

Side note: does it matter if you miss your 16 week MW appointment?

I have had 1 of these "pimples" on each side of my labia. I popped one (sorry sorry TMI!) but after extensive Googling, I believe I may have Bartholin cysts. I think I'm going to throw up.

Can anyone else confirm that they aren't enjoying pregnancy? I feel like it's only me that hates it. And I mean I hate it. I feel so so guilty about it. I'm surrounded by women that tell me what a marvellous time it was for them and how I must be so excited. I am not. Please reassure PeeAche. 😞 xxx

OP posts:
Prema112 · 29/12/2021 12:38

@PeeAche I wouldn't say I hate hate it but I'm definitely not enjoying it. Still feel pretty rubbish most days and I'm still pretty anxious about things going wrong, horrible being constantly worried and still expecting to see blood whenever I go to the loo. I think you should try get a 16 week appointment as if you're bp is high or urine has certain makers you may need treatment

Prema112 · 29/12/2021 12:38

You've had such a rough ride of it with the HG, I hope you feel a bit better in 2nd tri x

PeeAche · 29/12/2021 12:47

Definitely tried to get a 16 week appointment but just doesn't seem to be possible. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's not just the discomfort. My DH isn't excited, my job might not be there for me when I get back... I just feel like having a baby sounded better on paper.

PeeAche · 29/12/2021 12:53

So here's a thing - can anyone else relate?

Spent so much of the first trimester feeling nothing but anxiety. Finally had the 12 week scan and saw very much alive baby moving around like crazy. Felt relief then but nothing else. None of the excitement. Think it would be impossible to feel anything else much after the "anxiety bubble" popped, you know?

Now the anxiety has subsided, I don't feel much of anything. Anyone else?

OP posts:
Matilda30 · 29/12/2021 13:01

@PeeAche go easy on yourself. I didn't love pregnancy first time round and although mentally this one is easier as I've done it before, so I'm less anxious, pgp and nausea aren't much fun. I'd say you might feel different when you're further along and you have a bump and lots of kicks and you can plan a nursery etc but society tells us we should be glowing and I have never ever felt that glow.

As a side note, if you do feel like you're struggling, speak to your midwife. I'm not suggesting you are at all, just that I did struggle with my MH with my first pregnancy.
