@ALHCTPS

Straw poll: any of you who’ve had children before have an induction and it go smoothly? It seems to me that every time I hear about an induction it’s a godawful experience where everything goes wrong. Just had my first appointment with the obstetrician, you see (they may hand me back to purely midwife led if I continue to be low maintenance), and they wanted to book me in for an induction at exactly 40 weeks as the default option, purely because I’m 42. I’m only 14 weeks! Frankly, they can fuck off. After all, I’m healthier than a hell of a lot of 22-year-olds and have successfully given birth before. I’m happy to have that conversation closer to the time, say at 36 weeks, when I’ll have an extra scan, by why interfere if it’s not absolutely necessary? Especially before I’m even overdue. I’m not one of those natural birth obsessives, far from it (diamorphine is the bomb!), but I’m not interventionist either. And I don’t like feeling steam-rollered.
I didn't have a positive experience unfortunately. Induced on a Saturday morning and he was born via emergency c section on the Monday. I was advised to be induced because he was measuring big but it's not something I would choose to do again. The main negatives I felt were that I was pumped full of so many drugs, and exhausted by the time he arrived.

There are a lot of positive stories though but I would want to wait much closer to due date before making any decisions!

Happy Christmas to you all and every blessing over you, your families and your babies!

@laurenGame thanks lovely. I've been wondering how you're getting on 😊. Saw OB today and she said based on the fact that my scans all show baby is growing as normal throughout the bleeding she doesn't feel like she needs to investigate anything and she has no concerns. I had a hematoma week 6 but it was gone by week 7 - yet I've been bleeding on and off for 7 weeks more! (I'm 13+5). She said everything is super vascular whilst pregnant so blood vessels can pop every now and then and that could be a cause - I was hoping she'd look at my cervix but she didn't. She did however take my anxiety levels very seriously and suggested another meet next week, and another scan the week after, just for my own peace of mind! Such a wonderful and kind OB - feel incredibly grateful and blessed to have her. Although the midwives are amazing, they do seem to just offer generic advice where as my meet with the OB seemed more like personal advice and filled me with much more confidence x

Merry Christmas everyone... almost the year our babies will be born! ❤️

I'm looking forward to enjoying food again... DP took me out last night to a lovely restaurant, I've completely gone off meat and the vegetarian options were crap. I pretended to enjoy it because he spent a lot but I really didn't.

We're going for a curry tomorrow, again, can't bare the thought of anything on the menu but I have no choice. It's booked and deposits have been taken.

I have to eat to curb my sickness still, but I'm not enjoying actually eating it's such a chore atm Envy

Anyway, I hope you all have the best Christmas whatever you are doing.

PurpleMoon12 · 24/12/2021 22:46

@DaimDillyDoo is it a set menu? Or could you pick a few plain starters and some rice? I went to an italian at the peak of my sickness (makes me feel sick thinking about it!) so really feel for you!!

DaimDillyDoo · 24/12/2021 23:35

@PurpleMoon12 A set menu 😭 I'd normally jump for joy at a curry on Xmas day but the thought of all those lovely spices and all the meat is turning my stomach!

PurpleMoon12 · 24/12/2021 23:42

@DaimDillyDoo oh no! Just pick at what you can! I'd stick to nibbling at the rice/naan and just forget the rest. Don't even think about the cost or how anyone else feels - just think of yourself! 💐

laurenGame · 25/12/2021 00:26

@beansprout55 that's nice you had a good OB experience, it makes such a difference.
Mine gave me his business card with a 24/7 mobile on it and said I can call whenever I have a worry. I wanted to hug him Grin

I also think it sounds like our blood vessels are bursting or something, as they're so sensitive now? Bub is growing well (and look how far we've gone now) so seems unaffected by the bleeding, it just seems like our bleed is unrelated to the baby.

Merry Xmas to you and your family x

laurenGame · 25/12/2021 00:28

@DaimDillyDoo bless you - we cancelled Xmas day dinner at a restaurant because of my sickness.

This morning (Xmas here already in Aus) I took anti sickness tablet as soon as I woke up. It worked so well that I've had two servings of breakfast and this was my first breakfast in 3 months , so maybe you could take a tablet before dinner?

Clueless22 · 25/12/2021 08:30

RoseValleyRambles · 25/12/2021 16:18

Merry Christmas all! Hope you're having a lovely day and eating things that agree with you ...

EarlGreywithLemon · 25/12/2021 16:25

Happy Christmas lovely ladies! So sorry to hear about the horrible nausea. I had several waves of it yesterday, but today I felt pretty good for the first time in ages (15+3) so there’s hope! Although of course there’s always a niggle of worry, much as i tell myself that the sickness really should be going at this point 🤦‍♀️

Brightsmoke · 25/12/2021 19:30

@ALHCTPS I had an induction with my boy at 41+6, 50hrs of labour later he was born. It was horrendous. He was cut and is scarred from forceps. I had an episiotomy. However, we're both here and alive and healthy. A friend has an MC at 40 weeks, so I would do the exact same again in a heartbeat. Do what you feel is right for you, that's just my opinion obviously

I hope everyone has had a lovely day. My little boy has had the best day, been so excited all of yesterday and today, can't wait for baby number 2 to join in the chaos 🥰

pregnancydiaries · 25/12/2021 21:23

If anyone has found Xmas overwhelming while pregnant then I’m with you ladies. Went straight to my room after the meal for a good cry and I’m not even sure why - maybe it’s not being able to “join in” as much or probably more likely for absolutely no reason at all 😂 xx

GrowBabyGrow · 25/12/2021 21:50

@pregnancydiaries I have found today really hard as well! It's felt really overwhelming isn't it?

My nausea is thankfully almost gone but I still get ick and lightheaded if I'm hungry and it was the classic situation of eating at a funny time and Christmas dinner being late so felt so rubbish when we all sat down (we were at my parents so at least I didn't need to worry about cooking!)

I've not missed alcohol through my whole TTC and pregnancy journey until today when everyone was happily having a load of wine with dinner and I'm there with my Nozecco feeling very sober. Thankfully DH was driving so also didn't drink.

And all day my parents kept saying 'enjoy this Christmas because next year you'll have a little one and be completely sleep deprived haha' Xmas Sad I've just been so tired and drained we went home at 7 for a rest and Strictly Christmas special on the sofa.

Annabell1 · 26/12/2021 10:04

Merry Christmas ladies! 🎄
I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays despite feeling uncomfortable at times.
@pregnancydiaries I'm completely with you. We have spent the past week at my in-laws and I'm really missing my own bed, apartment, time on my own and my family.
I haven't been sleeping well either. It's either my back or neck that's hurting or I'm waking up in the middle of the night because my belly is stretching.
My mother in law is usually relatively relaxed, but she is already dropping things like.. you should have multiple children, nurse for at least 12 months, give them as many names as possible... Not in the mood or ready for discussions like that, but I would say that this is completely up to me (and my partner). 😂 I guess we have to get used to people knowing everything better.

PurpleMoon12 · 26/12/2021 13:30

I'm having a bit of a rubbish day today. I've had some very negative comments from one family member which has definitely upset me. Everyone else in my life has only been positive and happy so far, so its definitely a contrast! The comments made by the family member are generally about how hard it will be, everything will hit me when the baby is here, christmas will be shocking for me next year, and even how none of my clothes will fit me anymore. I just find it pretty unnecessary - especially when the family member grabbed my stomach (!!!) but was shocked when it was just my jumper bunched up. Thats not ok - right??

MrsNT · 26/12/2021 14:06

Hey ladies
Anyone got weird stretchy ache where leg joins thr pelvic bone area. Kind of hard to describe. But feels like stretching pain. Not had this one before
Not sure if its due to being tired or body changes in general

MrsNT · 26/12/2021 14:08

@purplemoon12 ignore the silly comments. Ppl think they are being helpful but infact come up with the stupidest things ever.

destiEos · 26/12/2021 16:54

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you all had a lovely day 🎅🏻🎄☃️💕

Annabell1 · 26/12/2021 17:05

@PurpleMoon12 I agree with MrsNT, try to ignore those comments and please don't take it personally. Some people just don't have much empathy. One step at a time. 🤗

Yes I’ve been having that last few days like everything is stretching . I’m 14+3 and just a general uncomfortable feeling at times .
beansprout55 · 26/12/2021 18:47

I've had that for a few weeks on and off @MrsNT . Sometimes it actually hurts to walk!! No idea what it is but it's scared me at times x
