@Imhereforthecake major restless legs in the second hand if my last pregnancy and beginning again now. It’s not uncommon I’m afraid! I wish I could tell you I found a solution! Stretching and getting up and walking about helped a tiny bit. I also tried a banana before bed as it was suggested the potassium might help. It didn’t work for me, but might be worth a try?

EarlGreywithLemon · 24/12/2021 08:55

*second half, not hand!

Imhereforthecake · 24/12/2021 08:58

@EarlGreywithLemon it's so annoying. I just want to sleep! I'll try the banana though - I'll give anything a go at this point!

Clomid1 · 24/12/2021 09:11

@MrsNT I bought one. Mainly because I sleep on my stomach and assume that can’t be good for the baby. I have to admit sometimes I still find myself on my stomach 😂. But the pillow itself is amazing. My husband uses it anytime he gets a chance 😁😁😁

InvisibleDragon · 24/12/2021 09:49

@MrsNT I got the Grandma Shark pregnancy pillow. Cost about £30 and it's enormous. I've been pleasantly surprised by how helpful it's been. I'd been waking up a lot and really struggling to get back to sleep. I've had the pillow for about 2 weeks now and apart from one night I've been getting at least 7 hours sleep again. I still wake up a bit more often, but really only for a few minutes.

MrsNT · 24/12/2021 09:52

@invisibledragon thanks will have a look. Hopefully the big pillow doesnt bother DH😂

RoseValleyRambles · 24/12/2021 09:52

I've not going full pregnancy pillow yet, but find a standard one between my knees helps me not get uncomfy on my side.

beansprout55 · 24/12/2021 10:38

Anyone else getting restless legs? Waking up every night with it at the mo it's driving me bonkers!!!

beansprout55 · 24/12/2021 10:39

@Imhereforthecake just saw you wrote the same thing!!!😂

All that helps me is forcing DH to vigorously massage them and a hot water bottle on them. It's the worst!!!!!x

I had a spontaneous booster at my 12 week scan appointment, a nurse was walking around the waiting room asking people if they'd like one! I was expecting a bad few days after since both my parents had that but I have had no side effects at all.

I got my screening results, low risk for both downs and the combined one. What a relief!

It's so exciting reading that some of you heard the heartbeat at your 15 week midwife appointment, I didn't know that was a possibility. Can't wait now :)

I'm feeling quite wobbly in my lower back and hips, sometimes achey and painful.

PurpleMoon12 · 24/12/2021 11:24

I've had my 16 week midwife appointment today, heard the heartbeat which was fantastic! And a relief!

3yearstrying · 24/12/2021 11:35

@PurpleMoon12 so pleased for you! I had mine yesterday too, baby was being a terror, she could hear them swimming around but wouldnt stay still! Eventually got a heartbeat so very happy! Just started to feel little kicks too, so surreal!

Merry christmas eve everyone, wishing you all a great christmas and new year! I cant wait until 27th January for my 20 week scan to see if its a little girl or boy!

3yearstrying · 24/12/2021 11:39

@pregnancydiaries my vote goes on a boy! All these old wives tales ive been looking at brought me to the skull theory haha! Blocky is apparently boy and smooth rounded/oval is a girl! But i cant wait till you find outFlowers

Imhereforthecake · 24/12/2021 11:54

@beansprout55
Its awful isn't it. I'm so bloody tired.
How many weeks are you now?

laurenGame · 24/12/2021 11:56

@beansprout55 so pleased to hear your little bean is ok!!
I've also been spotting pretty much non stop 😣 I'm 12w3d today, found out at 10 weeks we're having a little boy Smile baby is growing well so I've calmed down a lot.

Sonographer at 12 week scan said she can see hematoma, but my OB a day later said he can't see anything. Did you get any reasoning for the bleeding? X

unknownscot · 24/12/2021 12:14

Lostintranslatio · 24/12/2021 12:52

Happy Christmas to all of you! I hope you have a great evening and Christmas day!

ALHCTPS · 24/12/2021 13:26

Straw poll: any of you who’ve had children before have an induction and it go smoothly? It seems to me that every time I hear about an induction it’s a godawful experience where everything goes wrong. Just had my first appointment with the obstetrician, you see (they may hand me back to purely midwife led if I continue to be low maintenance), and they wanted to book me in for an induction at exactly 40 weeks as the default option, purely because I’m 42. I’m only 14 weeks! Frankly, they can fuck off. After all, I’m healthier than a hell of a lot of 22-year-olds and have successfully given birth before. I’m happy to have that conversation closer to the time, say at 36 weeks, when I’ll have an extra scan, by why interfere if it’s not absolutely necessary? Especially before I’m even overdue. I’m not one of those natural birth obsessives, far from it (diamorphine is the bomb!), but I’m not interventionist either. And I don’t like feeling steam-rollered.

Prema112 · 24/12/2021 13:33

Happy last (outside) baby free Christmas ladies! Exciting to thing about this time next year! X

InvisibleDragon · 24/12/2021 15:05

Happy Christmas everyone!

Heading to see my family tonight and so grateful we can be together this year (minus my uncle's family who just tested positive for the dreaded Covid Xmas Hmm)

MrsNT · 24/12/2021 16:07

@unknownscot based on the t bar shaped thing towards the end of the scan..i think its a boy

EarlGreywithLemon · 24/12/2021 18:10

@ALHCTPS I had an induction at 41 weeks (my choice because I didn’t like the increased stillbirth risks; I was 37 at the time). My cervix was high and completely closed when they put the pessary in despite two sweeps, but the induction process itself was very smooth. The pessary was in at mid day on Saturday, contractions started at 6pm, I went into hospital at 4am because they were 4 in ten minutes, and DD was born at 19.29. No complaints at all with the induction itself. The birth itself was complicated because DD was back to back and then half turned; there was no way she was coming out on her own. But that wasn’t to do with the induction. Another friend had a pessary put in the evening, contractions started in a few hours, she gave birth in the morning and was home a few hours later, with no damage. There are horror stories of course, but there are also more positive ones.
