@Annabell1 Thank you, same here we are having a girl!

rathernotshare · 10/12/2021 14:33

I would love a girl but I would put money on this baby being a boy!

beansprout55 · 10/12/2021 14:45

I second that @Prema112 ! Can't wait until June. Prior to getting pregnant I always envisaged enjoying my pregnancy, loving the bump and the glow, being soooo happy.
The reality so far is I've let myself go due to morning sickness and stress. I've become hairy all over and my roots are showing. Spotty too. Urgh. Wearing the same leggings every dam day because I can't fit into my trousers. Poor DH.

Also, spotting and cramps started again today. Brown stringy bit too which totally freaked me out and had me on the phone to EPAU - but their advice still stands. If it's not heavy bleeding go away! Very anxious today. I'll be 12 weeks on Monday. x

unknownscot · 10/12/2021 14:54

@PeeAche

Here's a fun and silly game for Friday morning 😅 ....

Combine your age at the time of conception with the number of the month you conceived and, if the resulting number is even, you're expecting a boy. If the number is odd, it's a girl.

I either conceived on Saturday 30th September or Friday 1st of October.... 😬😬😬

Hahaha not sure how this works for ivf.

31 and technically fertilised in June would make it a boy.

32 and transferred in October would make it a girl.

😂😂😂

unknownscot · 10/12/2021 14:54

Oops. The other way about.

Either way - I'll find out in June 😂

PeeAche · 10/12/2021 16:56

@unknownscot - ha ha. Don't worry. I suspect this little game is only right half of the time. 😂

@beansprout55 Oh, so sorry to hear of the spotting and cramps again SadI also had bleeding at 11 weeks it was really stressful. Have you had a cervix check?

needarainbow · 10/12/2021 17:58

I'll second that as well @Prema112. I literally can't wait to just have her/him in my arms, I would happily fast forward the first half of next year lol.

@PeeAche if this theory holds true then a girl for me, although all 3 people who have seen my scan have guessed boy so we shall see haha

3yearstrying · 10/12/2021 18:26

@beansprout55 i feel you! My skin cleared and then i started bleeding, a little more than spotting and i think the stress made my skin break out! Baby was fine thank goodness for me on thursday as i called EPU and said i want a scan, and im just spotting a tiny bit now so im sending lots of positivity your way!

beansprout55 · 10/12/2021 19:40

@Prema112 I asked the lovely nurse at EPAU and she told me they don't routinely check that and only will if they feel it necessary - a bit frustrating. If it carries on past 12 weeks I think I'll demand it!
@3yearstrying gosh we're like twins! Sending positivity and prayers your way too!xx

DH is cute and made us this for the count down - any nub theory experts? I've no idea what to look for, I'm googling how to do it now!! Xx

@beansprout55 So cute!!!

I made a separate GP appointment for a cervical check as my EPU don't check it either,

beansprout55 · 10/12/2021 20:21

@Prema112 oooo I don't know why I didn't think of that! The £52 may be worth it then, although I'll moan about it for weeks after.... Jersey is a disgrace. You'd think they'd make it free whilst your pregnant at least! 🙄

Prema112 · 10/12/2021 20:28

Oh gosh @beansprout55 can't believe you have to pay for GP appointments!

Rolledthedice · 10/12/2021 23:07

Hi all, it’s seems I’ve missed some lovely scans! I couldn’t get Mumsnet to work the last week, very odd. Anyhow, welcome to the new joiners! :)

I wanted to ask if anyone else has suffered from sluggish digestion (or diarrhoea) and stomach aches? I’ve been relatively fine up until last 2 days (currently 13+4). I’m hoping it isn’t a virus and will pass soon! My sleep was awful and heart rate was way above resting rate which never happens usually!

Rolledthedice · 10/12/2021 23:13

With regards the Covid vaccinations, I’ve had a complicated experience with them as the first one set off a Lyme infection. So I was incredibly nervous about the second! I finally got second jab at about 5 weeks pregnant and it was absolutely fine! Had no side effects! If I could have my booster now then I really would, the risks just aren’t worth it in my view. But I completely empathise with those who are nervous about it. x

destiEos · 11/12/2021 17:33

I don't want to jinx it but thought I'd let you all know that I've not felt sick today Shock First day in 6 weeks (feels like much, much longer!). I am praying this continues and I can enjoy Christmas. I feel like a whole new person, hang in there ladies, there's light at the end of the tunnel Daffodil

Sorry to hear about your mum @unknownscot. Sending you hugs

@jennixxx I think boy from your scan, and @MsBubbles85 I think boy too but difficult for me to tell from your scan. I've looked into the nub theory a lot because I'm desperate to know, but can't tell on mine either
I think girl for you @beansprout55 & @fiowen45

@MrsNT I get lower back pain all across when I stand too long. Have to keep crouching down 😂

@PeeAche, I was 'girl' from your theory, but had a not last time. All the old wives tales said girl, even the midwife had a gut feeling he was a girl. But nope. If he hadn't of been late, I'd have had a heck of a shock when he came out! Only because he was late my MIL said it's a boy 😂

My feet got wider in pregnancy and didn't go back. Gutted as had to change a lot of my shoes 🙈

BunBun221 · 11/12/2021 23:25

Anyone had to move to maternity clothes yet? I'm way comfier wearing them but it feels much sooner than other people! (I'm currently 11+6 and first pregnancy

PleaseSendNoodles · 11/12/2021 23:30

@fiowen45 going by nub theory I’d say that’s a little girl!

@BunBun221 I’m 13 weeks and at the awkward phase of being too small for maternity clothes but too big for my normal trousers/tights! Not sure what to do about it!

BunBun221 · 12/12/2021 01:30

@PleaseSendNoodles so I've found the new look maternity jeggings a life saver - they weirdly fit okay now (I'm not sure how they'll fare later on... I may have to reassess at that point!

PeeAche · 12/12/2021 09:20

IMPORTANT - NHS Maternity Exemption Certificate. For free prescriptions and dentistry.

Thought I'd share this info, especially because some of you must now have your 16 week appointments on the horizon with your midwives!

Ask your midwife to apply for this cert. You cannot apply on your own, they must do it for you. You receive it instantly via email and it's valid until around your baby's first birthday.

If you get sick, you'll need a prescription and you will have to pay, unless you have one of these (or, you're already exempt). You can only retrospectively apply for a refund, if you speak to the pharmacist about it at the very point you pay for each prescription. (Which is absolutely no good if you've sent someone else to collect for you anyway!)

Better to get it now and never need it. My kidney infection cost me quite a lot of money until I got this certificate sorted.

You don't need to do anything extra to apply for this except ask your midwife.
