@autumn321 we have Snuzpod that attaches to beds for our bedroom (2nd floor) and a Moses basket for rest of house 😊

@aNewYorkerInLondon I just text my midwife (as she was on day off when I rang) and she called me back next eve to say it was ready to collect at my GP reception. I didn’t get at scan as that’s at hospital and not with my midwife and didn’t want to wait for 25 week appointment to ask.

@fejkalove you don’t make that decision lightly at the minute so you are 100% doing the right thing for you. You will get sorted, try compartmentalise for this morning, you can’t change anything, have a “normal” day and focus on your baby and a scan, can you take someone? Then everything else can be dealt with after x
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I'm being forced to leave his house so I have to make decisions asap. He still wants to come to the scan and only allowed 1 person at my trust.

Anyway, I won't bring this thread down with my woes. Hope you're all okay x

fejkalove · 07/01/2022 11:49
@Jowd92 Good luck today! I’m sure it’ll go fine Smile I was so worried about mine yesterday but it was all okay afterall. I think it’s normal to worry though, maybe we’d be weird if we didn’t!
Plus I think the issues they find most often are fixable after birth, or at least thinking that helped me calm down a little.

All these co-sleepers are so cute! I’m too nervous to get one that attaches to the bed as I move around so much in the night, I’m worried I’d kick a leg out or something!

Also I don’t know if this is helpful, but Boots still have their big start-of-year sale on. We managed to deal stack and get 300 pampers in various sizes for £15. I felt like it was maybe a bit silly to get them so early but it seemed like such a good deal.
Can I be cheeky and ask how you managed that incredible deal stack? Or was that using points?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 07/01/2022 12:08

@fejkalove, you're not bringing anything down.

You can tell him that you're bringing a friend to your scan instead. He does not have the right to demand to be there.

I have to be careful what I say incase he comes trawling the forum but he sees it as his right to be present when it comes to having anything to do with the baby and I'm too afraid of the consequences to say no.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 07/01/2022 12:16

Hope you’re ok @fejkalove youre not bringing anything down Flowers what a stressful situation. Your scan is a medical appointment for you and the baby. He has absolutely no right to be there if you don’t want him to.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 07/01/2022 12:17

@Jowd92 good luck with your scan I hope it goes well.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 07/01/2022 12:19

I think I’ve had some sort of hormonal surge today because I’m feeling really down and emotional.

This is my third baby and first girl and I’m finding it really, really hard dealing with peoples reactions to it being a girl. Everyone is so happy and excited for me and it’s making me feel really sad for my boys like they are some sort of consolation prize and now I finally have the ideal, a girl. I don’t know if mums of daughters get this too if they have a boy but I would have been really happy with another boy and it’s making me really upset. I need to just get a grip I think.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 07/01/2022 13:50

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat, I cried for an hour today trying to make a really hard decision. These hormones are no joke!

I think that people always congratulated parents when they get "at least one of each." Its insensitive but probably well-meaning. I can assure you that if you had two girls and were now having a boy, people would be giving you the same excitement and congratulations -- and your husband even more! I would just answer that "we would have been very excited to have another boy and we are very excited to be having a girl." Then change the subject.

Honeymint · 07/01/2022 14:03

@fejkalove
Of course! It was this deal on hotukdeals: www.hotukdeals.com/deals/pampers-offer-stack-all-sizes-see-description-6-packs-for-ps2450-ie-300-newborn-nappies-8p-each-3862998
Then I trawled around the internet looking for extra vouchers but I’m struggling to find the one I used - I’ll keep looking!
I don’t know if anyone else has tried it, but you can apply for a cheap online course, get a student card and get big discounts at most places - it’s been a lifesaver this year!

Also of course you’re not bringing anyone down! It sounds like you’re going through a really hard time and that sucks, don’t force yourself to bottle it up if you don’t want to Flowers

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat I know what you mean, I’m finding the opposite. I have loads of nephews and no nieces so was feeling a bit like a boy was inevitable. When we got the news we were expecting a girl I was so happy (I’d have been happy with either of course!). But I was surprised how negative some people were. My dad is making no secret about how much he wanted a grandson and my MIL seems a little disappointed as well. My sister told me a few years back she didn’t think I was ‘strong enough’ to have a boy and that she’d hate to have a girl and I keep thinking about it. I didn’t realise how much stock the people around me put into boys before now, it’s so upsetting.

Jowd92 · 07/01/2022 15:51

Well had my scan and so happy all is perfect with baby girl and she’s growing beautifully 😍 and she has the most tiny cute feet ever!! Even the scan lady was amazed and gave me a picture of her little feet feeling so much more relaxed now will just wait for her movement to get stronger as she grows thanks all for asking

SerendipitySunshine · 07/01/2022 17:16

Does anyone have a work risk assessment for covid and pregnancy please? My midwife asked about mine but work haven't given me anything. I'm a bit concerned as they won't let us work from home despite it being possible (did it all last year) so I'm wondering if a risk assessment might help?

fattycatty82 · 07/01/2022 20:14

@Jowd92 how lovely! Bet you're relieved congratulations 🥰 xx

YfenniChristie · 07/01/2022 20:18

@SerendipitySunshine I had a risk assessment with work shortly after I informed them I was pregnant (at 8 weeks) and have had monthly reviews since then. A lot of it is much of a muchness, whether I work with chemicals, or heavy machinery/vibrations, and whether my pregnancy is high risk.

The main takeaways were I'm no longer allowed to lift anything and can no longer work alone on-site (meaning with limited staff on-site I'm working from home for the entire month of January). My role is largely customer facing, so I have various "rules" to follow (masks, social distancing, etc) - most of my risk assessment reviews have been mainly discussing whether I am happy to continue doing this.

I will add that this 'heavy handedness' is probably down to a mix of working for local authority and being one of the first people in my workplace to go on maternity leave in decades.

SerendipitySunshine · 07/01/2022 20:39

Thanks so much @YfenniChristie could I ask if your risk assessment gives an idea when you should stop being customer facing? I'm just hoping that mine will say for third trimester I should work from home.

fejkalove · 07/01/2022 20:55

I'm not good on here but just wanted to thank you all for your replies and comments.

Glad to hear scans have gone well!

My 20 week scan was okay but couldn't get all the measurements required as baby had her foot up by her face and the other foot tucked up under her whilst she was also asleep! He didn't show for the scan and hasn't even asked how it went. I have to go back in the next 2 weeks for the rest of the measurements, was lovely to see her little pouting lips though. 🥰

YfenniChristie · 07/01/2022 20:59

@SerendipitySunshine I raised it in my first assessment as to whether there was a cut off point, but there was nothing specific in the policy or risk assessment. Myself, my line manager and my boss are largely playing things by ear and making decisions based on my comfort and energy levels.

Sorry that's not particularly helpful! I should be having another risk assessment in a week or two, so I can raise it again then and let you know how it goes?

MissM94 · 08/01/2022 06:35

I think I've had an experience of pregnancy insomnia 🤯 fell asleep about 1ish, been awake since 5am and cannot for the life of me get back to sleep, baby boy has woken up aswell so I've been getting some heavy digs off him 😂😂 so I've left DP in bed and come to the front room to watch some shit tv in hope it sends me off for an hour or so 🙄

GinnyBee · 08/01/2022 08:14

I'm struggling with sleep too! I keep waking up between 3-4am boiling hot, then when I'm ready to go back to sleep the dog starts waking up and whinging, so for about 4 nights now I've only been dozing since about 4am until I finally give up and take him out 😴 If only I'd sleep at least until 5am I'd be happy! 😅

@fejkalove it sounds like you're afraid of him, are you safe? Do you have friends or family near by to look out for you? Here's the number for Women's Aid 24-hour helpline if you need it 0808 2000 247 and your midwife should be able to offer suggestions for your situation too.

Thank you @CharlieAlice22 @GinnyBee @LS2020 @Positive21 @Bubbasmama2017 @EastMidsGem for your support re my horse, it was a tough decision but really he made it for me. He is fine and is settled into his new home which makes me a lot more comfortable. In some ways he is my first baby and I have been through a lot with his health so I’m quite protective! But this baby growing inside me is a whole new level of anxiety etc. I’m sure I will feel better around him once she is here.

Yesterday morning I went to have my fractured nose fixed at the ENT clinic and the excellent doctor pushed it back into place with no anaesthetic, I had a headache afterwards but it feels much better now Smile.

I started a new job this week and so it’s been very busy, I was consulting and one of my clients poached me at the end of last year, so I’ve hit the ground running! It’s good to be using my brain again though, I fell into a bit of a slump in the holidays. I’ll be seeing HR next week to drop in my maternity forms as I’ll be in my 25th week then, does anyone else feel like time is going at warp speed?!

Hope you’re all well and lovely to read about the 20 week scans Smile @fejkalove in particular I hope you found some reassurance at yours and had a lovely moment seeing your baby. I’m sorry to hear about what you are going through and you are being so strong, you’ve got this. I hope you have lots of real life support too 💗.

Love to you all x

TashieWoo · 08/01/2022 09:41

@Bubbasmama2017 sorry to hear you have covid, hope you’re not suffering too much with it? Xx

fattycatty82 · 08/01/2022 09:46

I just came on here to see what you were all up to after waking at 1am and not sleeping again until 4.30am and I see some of you were also in the same boat last night! I ended up sitting downstairs and watching sex and the city then rich holiday, poor holiday on channel 5! It was way better than lying in bed feeling frustrated but I feel like a zombie this morning... trip to gym cancelled!!

I had my whooping cough jab yesterday so something else ticked off my list at least ✅

YfenniChristie · 08/01/2022 10:15

You're all far better than me at dealing with the insomnia. I've had it for weeks - wake up around 1am-ish, fall back asleep sometime between 4-5am, and then work alarm goes off at 6am. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm not in work until Monday so been able to play catch-up but it does mean I'm not getting up until about 10am.

That said, today I was woken up at 6am by the baby doing a proper jig! They woke me up yesterday at about the same time with 3 strong jabs - suddenly I've gone from having little flutters to having proper kicks (at least that's what it feels like).

Sarah239 · 08/01/2022 11:17

I woke up a few times briefly and do usually get insomnia at the moment but this morning I've just slept til 11am....! Oh well, should make the most of it I suppose, not too many lie-ins left now...!

I've forgotten to take my pregnancy vitamins a couple of days this week... do you think I should take two in one day (morning and evening) to catch up or just skip the day I forgot? My feeling is just skip as past the first trimester now so folic acid not as important?

TashieWoo · 08/01/2022 11:41

@Sarah239 at my booking in appointment the midwife said I should stop taking folic acid after 12 weeks when the spine was formed as it can increase chance of tongue tie, so I just take Floradix, vit D and C now. Obviously I’m not telling you to stop pregnancy vitamins but just passing that on, I think you’re fine with skipping a day x

MissM94 · 08/01/2022 11:47

@TashieWoo wow that about the tongue tie I've never heard I've been taking my pregnancy vitamins all throughout and my midwife said it's safe to do and she knows it has folic acid in it?! How can 2 people in the same industry have such different views?!
