And thank you @morphe and @fattycatty82 - best wishes for your 20 week scans too xx

I’m still struggling with anxiety, I think it’s because I have to deal with my horses every day and I always think I’m putting my baby in danger, but I’m not riding them and trying to keep risk to a minimum, and I haven’t heard of any other horsey mums to be having any issues. I love my horses but I wish I could wrap myself up in cotton wool sometimes.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 17/12/2021 09:28

@Sarah239, I'm so glad you're ok!

@Khep, that sounds really frustrating. That is what I'm hoping to avoid here at 41.

In our home today, hungry pregnant lady is now angry hungry pregnant lady. The company that I ordered our Christmas turkey from emailed to say that they're closing their doors and won't be making any further deliveries. I've been looking forward to turkey for months and I'm feeling very pouty about it this morning. I have no idea what to cook on Christmas now. In the grand scheme of things, this is small, but still. Grrrr.

fattycatty82 · 17/12/2021 10:04

@aNewYorkerInLondon can you get a Turkey from somewhere else?? Xmas without Turkey Nooooo!

I'm so excited to finish work and get my scan done a week today... time seems to be slowing down! Also so sick of the C word 🦠

robyna · 17/12/2021 10:41

Finish work for Christmas today! 🎉🎉 counting down the hours.

Anyone else feeling full blown kicks yet? Baby has been proper booting me, I've felt her from the outside a few times too but it's always when my partner is busy. I have an anterior placenta so I'm shocked at how soon I'm feeling real kicks.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 17/12/2021 10:54

@fattycatty82 - I've just found one!!! The butcher down the street has saved Christmas dinner. I pick it up on the 24th! Fa-la-la-la-la La-la-la-la!

Angry hungry pregnant lady has reverted to just normal hungry pregnant lady. :-)

TashieWoo · 17/12/2021 10:56

I finish work on Tuesday but I’m working my notice at the moment so not doing very much!

I’m not really feeling anything that I can definitely call movement yet, and that’s with a high posterior placenta! This is my first baby though so may be later, I can’t wait for her to start booting me! She was very active in my scan earlier this week though, the sonographer had to keep going back to her heart to get the readings he needed as she kept fidgeting 🤣💖

aNewYorkerInLondon · 17/12/2021 10:57

@robyna - I also have an anterior placenta (high anterior) and I'm feeling him inside, but still very little from the outside. Hubs felt a little bit the other night quite low (so probably below the placenta), but isn't feeling properly kicked yet. Really enjoying feeling him - can't wait to be able to share it with hubs when they're a bit stronger!

LS2020 · 17/12/2021 11:52

Hi all,

Popping in/catching up with thread.
Had my covid booster yesterday and feel like I’ve been hit by a truck, but so glad I’ve had

@Sarah239 glad you went and got checked out and all is well.

So jealous of you finishers, I’m working til Thursday next week 😩
I feel like I’ve had a mix of kicks, small bubbles in beginning and now it’s either a massive couple of big pops or nothing at all - definitely making me anxious but 20 week scan is on Tuesday so hope all is well with them and be nice to see them 😊

@aNewYorkerInLondon so glad you got your turkey! I’m going to be fuming if we go into a lockdown as we have zero food in for Xmas as family are hosting. Hopefully can still do as will only be 5 of us

EastMidsGem · 17/12/2021 12:22

I definitely haven’t felt full blown kicks yet and got my 29 week scan this afternoon - very very nervous. I have felt flutters and sort of taps or strokes but not every day. I also have anterior placenta. Hopefully all is well this afternoon and it’s just too early to feel properly

I don’t finish until Thursday next week for Christmas either @LS2020

Will let you all know how I get on later - send me good vibes peeps

EastMidsGem · 17/12/2021 12:23

*20 week not 29 🤦🏼‍♀️

TashieWoo · 17/12/2021 12:26

Best wishes for your scan @EastMidsGem - try not to worry too much although I know it’s hard xx

robyna · 17/12/2021 13:44

@aNewYorkerInLondon I don't know how high or low my placenta is, at my 12 week scan they said it looks as though I have a posterior placenta but won't really know til 20 weeks. At 18 weeks I had a gender scan and they put on the form that I have an anterior placenta, but by the feels of it it must be quite high. I only ever feel baby properly kicking me on the left but I do feel small nudges and movement either left, right or low down. I'll find out more at my 20 week scan though!

robyna · 17/12/2021 13:45

@EastMidsGem good luck! Everything's gonna be fab 👶🏻

LS2020 · 17/12/2021 15:41

@EastMidsGem hope you had a fab scan ❤️

Aquarius1987 · 17/12/2021 16:36

Hi, haven't wrote much on here but have just had my 20 week scan and VP is 11mm, the max it should be is 10mm, have been referred to Royal London Hospital, has anyone else had this? Feeling really worried. 😔

GinnyBee · 17/12/2021 17:11

I'm jealous too of everyone who is done with work now! My last day is Thursday next week, but at least I'm working from home and don't have a lot to do anyway, so I can pretty much carry on cleaning the house with my laptop on and the occasional glance over to see if any emails have come in.

I felt better today than all week, so rolled up my sleeves and started prepping Christmas dinner! Well, Christmas Eve dinner. I'm originally from Finland and try to do a bit of a Finnish Christmas every year on the 24th. Last year we hosted everyone as my mum was visiting, but this year I've invited no one and will just be me an hubby. I made carrot bake, swede bake, mustard, gingerbread biscuits (made the dough weeks ago, so just defrosted a chunk and baked a batch) and prune jam for 'Christmas star' pastries. Ham gets cooked on the 23rd, and then it's just smoked salmon tartare to make, and jars of marinated herring to open, and that's it!

Luckygreenduck · 17/12/2021 18:38

@GinnyBee that sounds lovely! I think I will do some christmas baking this week and see if there is any prep I can do for christmas day. My husband is cooking but we will be at his parents.
We have found out we are having a boy and bought our first things for him tonight. It felt so special picking the first baby grow- I felt a bit silly but I think my husband was feeling a bit emotional too! We havnt told family its a boy yet so for now its just our secret. Havnt decided when we will, maybe after our 20 week scan.

EastMidsGem · 17/12/2021 20:28

Thank you all for your well wishes 🥰 scan was a bit of a faff! Baby was so comfortable all curled up on his front that she couldn’t get the full check of the heart, spine and feet! I had to go for a 20-30 minute walk and eat something sugary… after that we went back in and baby was still comfortably curled up and wouldn’t budge!

Soooo got to go back in 2 weeks between Christmas and New Year. Good news is that everything she could check was perfectly normal and she could see the four chambers of the heart but needed to see some crossed over ventricles or something?! Also she could see the spine but couldn’t see right to the end of it. But then when I went back to reception, they said I couldn’t book the appointment there and then, I would need to ring them on Monday afternoon to find out when it will be but it needs to be before 3rd January.

But I am glad that we got to see baby with heart beating away and looking so cosy. Also happy we’ll get an extra scan

Sarah239 · 17/12/2021 20:53

Hi @Aquarius1987 I'm sorry you've had a worrying scan! I had to look up what "VP" means, not heard that before. It sounds like 11mm is only just over the normal range so fingers crossed it's just a blip and everything is ok for you 🤞Sending hugs!

Sarah239 · 17/12/2021 20:54

Thank you everyone for your well wishes yesterday, and congrats @EastMidsGem on your scan xx

I've finished work for Christmas today too, just a countdown to 20 week scan on Christmas Eve now, and getting boosted tomorrow!

LemonSwan · 17/12/2021 21:26

And its a boy! Grin

We thought it was a girl so very exciting surprise; but we have no boy names!

Thankfully everything she could see seemed healthy and within normal range but we do have a bit of a wee shorty with femur length at 18% and birth weight at 35%. So not a basketball player but perhaps an F1 driver which has inspired the potential name Kimi Grin

morphe · 17/12/2021 22:46

I'm feeling proper kicks now, quite low down but only at night when I'm in bed, DH has always been asleep so he hasn't felt it yet.

I've finished work today and it was my DD's last day at nursery for the term.

@EastMidsGem that's annoying that you have to go back for another scan, but it's good that they want to get everything checked thoroughly. At the 12 week scan I had to do jumping jacks and running on the spot to try to wake the baby up.

@Aquarius1987 that sounds worrying, the Royal London is supposed to be good though so it's good that you're being referred to a specialist.

@GinnyBee that Christmas dinner sounds fab. I rarely cook much for Christmas as we usually go to my sister's or my DM.

@LemonSwan congratulations, a lovely surprise to find out it's a boy!

EdwinBaber · 18/12/2021 05:38

I have posted a couple of times about 7 months back on the mc forum, just to let everyone know my other half is expecting.
Well she's expecting.... like @Eastmidsgem the scan didn't go ultrasmooth, however the sonographer was able to take all the measurements she needed but baby had its foot right over its bits Grin and wouldn't shift it even on a second scan later
So a surprise is due around May 10th

robyna · 18/12/2021 08:03

@Aquarius1987 I did some Googling too and it does seem just over the max so hopefully baby was wriggling and they've got the measurements off. When I had my 12 week scan they said baby was making herself seem bigger which was confusing measurements so I've got everything crossed for you. If something is wrong, baby will be in the best hands when born, postnatal care is incredible these days!

@EastMidsGem oh no naughty baby! 😂 I feel like mines going to go similar as my girl is already a true stubborn Taurus.

@morphe my kicks are only really at night but I do sometimes feel the odd one in the morning or throughout the day. It's amazing isn't it.

EastMidsGem · 18/12/2021 08:49

@robyna I regularly send pictures of my house cat to my friend at work, we especially love it when she’s “loafing” and when I sent her this scan pic she said “OMG he is taking loafing to the max!” Which just made me laugh.

Congratulations to both of you @EdwinBaber that’s wonderful, it will make the birth extra exciting!

Congratulations @LemonSwan we haven’t thought about names yet until we tell the family at Christmas. Everything feels so much more real now we’ve had the 20 week scan.

I really hope to start feeling proper kicks soon. I’ve still just been having the fluttering mostly. The odd little tap but I think it’s probably to do with my placenta position and also my weight. Baby has a large cushion to be felt through. I’m sure he’ll be big enough over the next couple of weeks to feel it more
