@sarah239 that sounds scary hope you're feeling ok now!

Sarah239 · 15/12/2021 13:01

@Bubbasmama2017 Yes better thank you. Think I just need to focus on getting lots of good nourishment in me today.
I've been worrying about having too much sugar and trying to cut down so maybe that's it too.

GinnyBee · 15/12/2021 13:13

@Sarah239 I'm a fainter and know how unpleasant it is, hope you're feeling better! I've not fainted in this pregnancy yet, but I have previous form for fainting easily so I think it's just the matter of time. Although the more you do it, the more you learn how to avoid it, too!

I've just come back from my 20 week scan. Everything looks fine, all measurements within the expected range and no concerns for the baby's development. My placenta is quite low but they said it's likely to move higher so they aren't concerned at this stage. I feel relieved more than anything, I'm always half expecting bad news at a scan!

@Sarah239 good thing you were in the office and not on your own at home! I don't think I've ever fainted with pregnancy but it's good that other people were looking out for you.

@TashieWoo I'm glad your scan went well too. Great that you'll be able to wfh too.

@KMHH Sometimes I get a little pain/twinge when I'm bending sideways (like leaning over my bed to get something) but not too often. I think I've just learned not to bend that way for now!

@GinnyBee I think I got all my hormonal moods out the way in the first trimester - it was the moodiness early on which made me suspect I was pregnant. I've been really calm in the past few weeks, despite some difficult situations. @fattycatty82 No sign of a nesting instinct here yet - it's me who has all the clutter (and DD). I have a plan for getting rid of it but I'm having to wait on a couple of things (am storing some items at my Mum's, but they need to clear out space first, which depends on them getting some work done in their house).

fejkalove · 15/12/2021 13:47

Glad to hear all the scans are going well! Mine isn't until Jan...but we had a private gender scan last week and found out on Sunday we have another little GIRL on the way! I'm so shocked as always assumed I'd have 1 of each, but so pleased. We had a sneak peek in 4D and as creepy as I usually find them, I couldn't help but giggle at her, she looks as though she's clinging to a rock (placenta) Grin

I hope everyone is having a good day!

@morphe, I've just come back from my 20-week scan too and all is well! She said that baby boy is estimated to weigh about 340g and that everything looks as it should. My only (small) complaint is that the way the room was laid out, I could hardly see the screen at all. My husband got a good view of everything as she went through it all, but I really wish I could have seen him more.

@GinnyBee, I've been crying at EVERYTHING. The hormones are so real.

@fattycatty82, xmas decorating is occupying my nesting instincts for the moment, but come 2022... its on. We're going to be moving at the end of February and I can't wait to get settled in the new place.

fattycatty82 · 15/12/2021 16:39

@fejkalove hehe that's funny! I was always intrigued by those 4D scans but I thought they'd look a bit nicer that what they do... not sure I'll have one! Congratulations on a baby girl 😊💕

Honeymint · 15/12/2021 16:41

@KMHH
I know what you mean, I’ve been getting aches and pains all over the shop. Sometimes I’ll get cramps all day, others I’ll be fine until the evening when I’ll stand up and feel like I’ve got the hips and back of a 90 year old.
I had my 16 week appt today (17 weeks) and asked about it, my midwife said ‘Your womb is about the size of a melon right now, you can’t expect that to happen without some discomfort’. Which was sort of comforting in a miserable way, haha.

@GinnyBee
A few weeks back I felt so sick I didn’t want to eat anything. Then I remembered I had a crumpet in the freezer and I wanted it more than anything.
When I went to get it I realised I’d eaten it a few weeks ago. I stood in the kitchen and bawled my eyes out and I’m not usually the teary type.
So I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one!
I don’t know why but I thought the mood swings would come a bit further down the line!

Sarah239 · 15/12/2021 16:43

@Honeymint oh you poor thing! I absolutely hate being excited about eating food and then forgetting that I've already eaten it, it's the worst!! 🤣

Luckygreenduck · 15/12/2021 20:10

@morphe I have also been told I have a low lying placenta and waiting to see if it moves. We have been told no sex until/if it moves. Obviously dont want to risk a big bleed so we wont but the thought of no sex until May (and probably months after that with a newborn) is really rubbish!

BabyOnBoard90 · 15/12/2021 21:39

We had a 20week scan today.

Our little girl is arriving on May 3rd. First child so scary and exciting times.

The first 16weeks was turbulent due to error made by doctors but I guess we can enjoy the next half.

Sarah239 · 15/12/2021 21:41

@morphe sorry not to reply earlier. Congratulations on your scan! Frustrating the screen wasn't easier to see though!
I actually was at home on my own when I fainted... I was just lucky as I was on a zoom call with colleagues at the time. They felt a bit helpless though, bless them - would have completely freaked me out watching someone else faint from a remote location and not be able to help them! I've been on a video call with my mum all afternoon so she can check I'm ok :) feeling better now and just planning how to cram more and healthier food into my day to try and put some more weight on! I still haven't put a pound on this pregnancy.

Sarah239 · 15/12/2021 21:42

Congratulations @BabyOnBoard90 here's to a smooth and uneventful next 20 weeks for you!

Honeymint · 16/12/2021 06:02

(Whoops, somehow I missed a whole page!)

@Sarah239 I went though a spate of fainting when I was younger, it sucks doesn’t it? I just wanted to second Ginnybee that once you’ve fainted you can recognise the signs and sit or lie down if you feel it happening again. I’ve only felt woozy once this pregnancy and I’m hoping it doesn’t happen again. I hope you feel better soon!

@morphe congrats on your scan! I know what you mean, I’ve booked my gender scan for this evening and I’m always worried it’ll be bad news - I really want to be more optimistic but I can’t help it!

@fejkalove What an excellent picture, haha! Maybe you’re creating a tiny rock climber?

Congrats everyone on their scans!

Bubbasmama2017 · 16/12/2021 07:18

It's so nice hearing about all the 20 week scans ours is in a week and I can't concentrate on anything but the scan right now! Feels good to be reaching the halfway point hopefully the 2nd half of pregnancy doesn't go slow! I'll definitely want another scan between this one and the end

Bubbasmama2017 · 16/12/2021 07:19

I had my booster jab yesterday and kept accidentally sleeping on that arm last night it's very sore today but no other symptoms so far

EastMidsGem · 16/12/2021 09:25

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow afternoon 😬 feel very nervous but not long to wait now

Lovely to hear about everyone else’s scans

My booster is 29th December, the only other date I could get was Christmas Day! Looking forward to getting that out the way. I have managed to convince work that I should remain working at home apart from 2 days over Christmas where there are reduced staffing levels so they’ve asked me to go in. Don’t know why it had to be so hard to convince them really! I have a feeling tougher restrictions will probably come in early January given the rate of infections

fattycatty82 · 16/12/2021 09:46

@EastMidsGem no you shouldn't have had to fight your corner about that! I'm shocked my work Xmas party is still going ahead! My boss was disappointed that I wasn't going even though it's in a restaurant in London... she has since changed her tune though as she got covid herself 😩 I hope you can stay socially distanced at work. Good luck for the scan 🙂

Milly1408 · 16/12/2021 10:59

Hi ladies, hope you’re all well! I haven’t posted in a while, lovely to hear about all your 20-week scans and gender reveals! We found out a couple of weeks ago that we’re having a baby girl! And have our 20-week scan tomorrow which I’m really excited for.

Has anyone else got very sore hips? Mine are especially achy when I’m walking and almost like they are ‘loose’ if that makes sense! Also at night they tingle when I lie on my side, is this normal?!

morphe · 16/12/2021 13:42

@aNewYorkerInLondon that's a shame that you couldn't see the screen well. In my previous pregnancy they had screens set into the ceiling so you could lie back and see the baby while they were doing the scan!

@Luckygreenduck They've not mentioned avoiding sex to me, the placenta is not covering the cervix at least so maybe not so risky.

@fejkalove What a great scan photo! Lovely to hear you'll be having a girl, I have another girl to join my DD too.

I hope your scan goes well today @Milly1408.

Mellymopx · 16/12/2021 13:48

Hey ladies,

I was on another “due May 2022” thread, which was very quiet! Seems everyone is over here 😅

I’m due my 2nd baby 16th of May, a little girl. Completing our family, as I already have a nearly 3 year old little boy 🥰

How is everyone getting on? I’ve had an awful time of sickness and nausea… and now 3 days into covid 🤦🏼‍♀️ Managing ok though. X

Thank you, congratulations to you too! I have quite a gap between my girls...my DD has just turned 11!! X

Sarah239 · 16/12/2021 19:13

Hi everyone!

I ended up going to Day Assessment Unit at hospital today after my fainting/fall yesterday. It was when I spoke to my colleague this morning and found a bruise on my head last night that I realised I may have had a heavier fall than I thought yesterday/implied to the midwife.

So I rang back and she offered me to come in. I had my temperature and blood pressure checked and got to hear baby's heartbeat :) My husband came too, so it was nice he also got to hear it. I'm very grateful they allowed me to come in and we were actually seen very quickly as it happened to be quiet.

Feeling lots better today, just taking it easy and been trying to eat and drink lots!

Khep · 16/12/2021 19:41

Am 40 and was scheduled for an induction before I even hit the mid mark of my pregnancy, despite breezing through. At 7 months though I looked about 4 months which sent them all into a new frenzy. Induced with pessary at 38 weeks on a Wednesday. Sporadic contractions for a few hours. Second pessary. Contractions 3 minutes apart until Friday evening. During those days I had gel, a stretch:sweep and a third pessary, but nothing passed 1.5 dilation despite constant contractions. The contractions were showing off the chart on the ticker tape but were only slightly bothersome. Ended in a c section on day 4. I had a violent SA about 7 years ago which made the invasiveness of the inductions almost unbearable, but physically I was fine. Midwife mentioned being shocked at my pain tolerance at one point, though it honestly just felt like a bad period. Overall it was a good experience. I’d do it over tomorrow just to see my girl for the first time again.
